Location: TGI Fridays – Pembroke
I visited this location with a friend for dinner. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet the service was average at best. I had to flag down other servers just to get basic things, which I tolerated at the time. The real issue arose when it came time to pay.
I initially paid the bill—including a tip—for a total of $62.09. A few minutes later, as we were getting ready to leave, the server returned to say my card had been declined. That was strange, as I immediately got a text alert from my bank confirming the $62.09 charge. Regardless, I handed him the same card, and he processed the payment again—but this time for $52.62, and I left a cash tip.
I showed the server the double charge alert, and he assured me the $62.09 charge would be refunded. Unfortunately, that never happened.
Since then, I’ve contacted both my bank (who claim the charge was authorized) and the restaurant’s management (who responded, but claimed they couldn't see the $62.09 charge on their end). Both parties have essentially pointed fingers at each other, leaving me with no resolution and charged twice—once with tip, once without, totaling over $100 for what was about $50 worth of food (pasta, a triple play, and two drinks).
To make matters worse, the restaurant atmosphere was unprofessional—staff loudly watching a game on TV, shouting across the floor, and clearly not paying attention to guests.
I will not return. The service was mediocre, and the lack of accountability over a double charge is inexcusable. Whether this was a mistake or something more shady, TGI Fridays Pembroke has lost a customer
