Yelp
We used to like this place (ever since its take-off-your-shoes seating before remodeling), even though quality varied over the years.
Yesterday was such a low that we will take a longer break. On the plus side, they've partly reopened for semi-indoor seating (windows & door open, so quite chilly), take hygiene measures (check guests' temps, sprayclean plastic tablecloths), food arrived quickly, and one of our three dishes was pretty good (red curry with chicken), as well as the white and brown rice (hard to ruin those). But the other two dishes were really disappointing and/or went wrong. The cashew veggie entree had too many undercooked onions and was SUPER salty - I had to let each drop of sauce drip off so it became somewhat edible. The "King&I" noodle plate also was much saltier than necessary, and lacked any other flavors. We ended up taking it home, rinsing it off, and refrying it... The tofu in both dishes had an unpleasant sour aftertaste (maybe not fresh anymore?), and the small portion of sticky rice felt reheated, glued together, and flavorless. At first we didn't trust our tastebuds, then they became numb from the salt overdose, and we also didn't want to complain to a small business reopening after the pandemic. But when we were paying, I mentioned the excessive saltiness to our server, and she simply said "I'll let my chef know". Not "Oh, I'm sorry! You could have said something earlier / we'll make sure to do better next time / let me take something small off your bill / would your son like a small dessert?" - nothing. Food not great can be an exception, but reaction to a customer problem is another thing. That's when we decided it deserved a Yelp.
