Best Restaurants in Stratford | Where to Eat Near Stratford Westfield | Eater London

"Thai Pie is another of those East End quirks that serves both Thai food and pie and mash. Curries are the standout here, thrumming with heat and depth of flavour. The goong choo chee is also worth trying: fat juicy tiger prawns stir fried in a deep amber curry sauce, redolent with lemongrass and kaffir lime, this dish is both comforting and refreshing." - Shekha Vyas

First time tried Thai pie although living just close to Resturent. And now regret why I didn’t come here before 😋food was 5 star already loving the food and Tom yum was amazing. Mr Jamil is the good host :)

We ordered from this restaurant via just eat this evening purely because of the star rating. We have never used this restaurant before. We spent over £40 for 2 people and we were extremely disappointed. The pad Thai was flavourless, lacking in quality ingredients and over cooked. The curry was watery, again, lacking in flavour and hardly any meat. The won tons were horrendous! Burnt and extremely crispy, hardly any filling and lacking in any flavour at all. Whilst I tried to complain using the just eat app, my partner phoned the restaurant and explained what was wrong with our food order. The man on the phone apologised and said when we order next time he might be able to give us some extra food or a slight discount. My partner told him that was not good enough and asked for a full refund, suggesting the driver to come to our house and take the food back. Again, the man apologised but offered no solution to our complaint. We only used this restaurant because of the star rating. To have a takeaway on a Friday night is a treat for both of us after working hard all week. We feel like we’ve just thrown that money down the drain. We will never use this restaurant again and urge anyone to think twice in ordering from them in the future.

We dined at Thai and Pie for dinner tonight, and as an Asian and a fan of Asian cuisine, I was eager to try their offerings. The egg fried rice was excellent—flavorful and perfectly cooked (5/5). The chicken Thai Tom Yum was decent but didn’t particularly stand out (4/5). The chicken satay, however, was a bit too heavy on the sauce, which overpowered the taste (3/5). I ordered the lamb chop for myself but found it challenging to review. Personally, I didn’t enjoy it as the meat had a strong smell that lingered, and the dish looked more like a curry than a traditional lamb chop. However, my husband tried it and found it quite good, so it might just be a matter of personal preference. The highlight of our meal was the prawn crackers served with chili sauce—they were delicious and well-prepared (5/5). We also loved the drinks, particularly the strawberry milkshake and orange juice, which were both refreshing (5/5). The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant (5/5 for both). Most importantly, the pricing was reasonable and worth the experience (5/5). One thing to note—Thai and Pie is a cash-only establishment, so make sure to bring cash with you! Overall, it was a delightful dining experience with a few minor misses but plenty of highlights. We’d definitely consider returning.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. The service was friendly, fast & delicious. The Tom yum soup had to be my fave 10/10

Excellent food, staff, and presentation. The level of spice was varied to match preferred taste. Location is great, loads of on-street parking outside. The Tom Yum soup was really good, great taste. The curries are also fresh and taste very good. Good size portions also. Setting and decor are really modern and tasteful. Very good ambience. Highly recommend this place. Much better and better priced than some other over-priced ones like Nakhon Thai.

I came to this branch when it first opened and visited again for the 2nd time last night. It’s elegantly designed and modern and a decent atmosphere. I normally go to the Whitechapel or Stratford branches - I think I’ll stick to them in future. The thing is, the food is good - especially the Thai menu which tastes fresh and proper authentic with the added desi spice, but the service was so poor that I’ll never go back here again or recommend it to anyone - I could totally rant about the terrible service but I won’t bother going into it. And the absolute worst thing - they only accept cash payments - now its lucky I had my card with me to withdraw money because none of my friends did and I don’t normally either as I literally carry just my phone these days and use Apple Pay - I mean, why is this restaurant still stuck in 2010 when my corner shop accepts card for 50p?!!

The food was absolutely delicious, especially the chicken! Everything was full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall atmosphere made for a really enjoyable dining experience. Definitely a place I’d visit again!

I visited Thai and Pie three times during my short stay in London — that alone should tell you how good it is! Every visit was fantastic. The drunken noodles were perfectly spiced, the green curry was to die for, and both the chicken pie and chicken wings were amazing as well. Their seabass was also perfectly fried and the sauce was delicious. Everything was fresh, comforting and rich in flavors. The staff were always welcoming, and the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Easily one of the best Thai spots I’ve been to — highly recommended!
