Locally owned mainstay serving Thai and Chinese dishes for over a decade. Beyond curry and noodles, look for Chinese dinners like sesame chicken or broccoli beef, a draw for families and mixed‑palate groups.

My daughter recommended this place for a meal after a day out. Wish I could say we dined in but I generally lack the motivation for such things. The place looked adequate for such things. However, the take out we ordered was done in about 15-20 minutes. I ordered the Thai BBQ and inhaled it once we got home. They ordered stuff too, and while they cannot eat as quickly as I can they seemed to enjoy it. Was reasonably priced, think the bill was under 40 and the staff I interacted with were nice. Will probably get prodded into dining here (or getting take out) by my eldest. Good stuff.

Google
This used to be a regular stop when I made it to town but sadly no more. Something really changed and the food tastes different. Shrimp rolls no longer taste like shrimp. The rice was dry and blah. The entrees taste different but not bad. Back to My Thai and hope it’s still the same.

The food was delicious and the service very prompt and friendly! The prices were very reasonable and the portions were plenty. I had the combination Pad Thai and could not have been happier! We will definitely come again.

Sunday nights can find us in a food desert here in Amarillo, but there are a few places open. Thai Arawan is one of them, and we chose it not just out of convenience, but also because we’ve had good experiences here in the past. This visit was no exception. Youngest Daughter ordered the Khao Soi, which arrived in an enormous bowl. Essentially, it is a flavorful curry filled with egg noodles and bean sprouts, and topped with crispy egg noodles. She found the heat to be just to her liking, meaning not so spicy as to be impossible to eat, yet enough to remind her this was curry. There was so much in this serving that she was lucky to eat half of it; she gladly took the rest home for lunch the next day. I ordered the Yellow Curry. I had noticed that the list of proteins did not contain tofu, yet there was a tofu dish elsewhere on the menu. So I asked if they would be so kind as to sub tofu for meat, which they gladly did. My order came with a huge serving of steamed rice as well. But I just say that at first I was surprised that my dish was not at all hot on the spice scale. That, was because the vegetable at the top had merely been grazed by the curry sauce, and were cabbage, broccoli, and zucchini, tasty in their own right, but also a little out of place. Silly me. My bad. I should have scooped down a little lower, because once I hit the bottom half of the dish, my mouth exploded in both flavor and heat. Oh my! This was some of the best curry I have ever had! I could not only taste it, I could feel it on my tongue. If you like curry, this is a great choice. It was hot, but not devastatingly so. I’ll just say that my tongue tingled for about an hour. That’s the way I like it when I eat Thai. We’ll definitely be back again.

Google
05/29/22 - Had a wonderful lunch with three very good friends here today. I ordered the Charlie's Special for my time. Outstanding! The mushrooms were the perfect touch, and all four of us enjoyed our meals tremendously. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly and very helpful, and the food absolutely unbeatable. I love going to Thai Arawan to eat, where every meal is comfort food! VERDICT: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Google
I ordered some food from this place earlier today and it was horrible. I remembered it being half way descent from a few years ago but this stuff was nasty. I got the kad pe mao and it had zero flavor. It was just some dry noodles with a FEW pieces of beef. Also got classic fried rice. It was worse. It was stale, and also had no flavor or meat. Don’t recommend this place at all. I was actually pretty mad that I spent money on it.

Google
Has always been good. I do believe that this is one of the best Chinese/Thai restaurants that I’ve ever had. Only beat by another place that isn’t even in the country. Anyways the service is always excellent and nice. The food tastes authentic and the presentation is usually good. They have a nice variety of entrees and plenty of customization opportunities. The menus, tables and other things could use some updating but they’re already on that! I do recommend this place if you want good, cheap, Chinese food.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Never disappointed with Thai Arawan. The staff is very nice and helpful. My kids are always asking for Thai Arawan.

Yelp
Ok Thai Arawan. You deserve this. My wife sat at you restaurant For more than an hour for takeout. Then we received the meal meant for child. In fact our child meal was twice the size of the full size. See the pictures. Too bad you put emphasis on the wrong things. You are losing our business. See the pictures There is zero chicken in the chicken fried rice and the non- chicken fried rice dishes are basically a cup full. What an absolute joke

Yelp
I'm not sure what to call this food, but it isn't Thai. We ordered the lettuce wraps to start, and when they came out I knew this food was not going to be good. The meat looked like it was squeezed out of a tube. The lettuce was brown. It looked like something that might have been served at Taco Bell. Maybe something you might serve your dog. The pad Thai was extremely salty, and didn't taste like pad Thai. Didn't come with peanuts, came with a lemon instead of lime. I was afraid of getting sick from this place so we ate a few bits and took off. This place should not call itself a Thai restaurant. This is the worst meal I've had in a long time, Thai or otherwise. Stay away from this place!

Lauren J.

Yelp
It's like they didn't have a cook today and told the table busser to figure it out. Our food was disgustingly greasy, soggy, and there was no flavor other than salt.

Crystal C.

Yelp
Wonderful family restaurant! We enjoy multiple entrees. The service is exceptional. The staff is friendly.

Yelp
Thai Arawan has been our favorite Thai Restaurant since it opened, fifteen plus years. We moved to Grapevine, Tx about six years ago and we always stop here when we're in Amarillo. We were there Sunday June 5th 2022 and ordered Charlie Special with shrimp & chicken, Curry Fish and Spring Rolls. always amazing, the best I've ever had! Oh, the kitchen is visible and you can watch while they cook.

Yelp
Food is good. Atmosphere is a little wide open, could be a little more cozy, but worth it.

Yelp
Service was horrible, the waitress gave us attitude and didn't even check on us frequently. I got the Go See Me, let's just say it's was bland fried ramen. My brother got the Lad Na, I will say this, it was one of the saltiest Lad Na I have ever experienced/tasted in my life and I'm Laotian. It really made my appetite go away quick, I couldn't eat another bite cause it made me sick.

Yelp
Got stuck in Amarillo TX and decided to give these guys a try. For the middle of Texas this Thai food is pretty good. We ordered delivery to our hotel room near by and they can super quick. I got the Pad Thai with chicken, spicy, some gyoza, and some cream cheese wontons. Over all everything seemed pretty fresh. I wish "spicy" was a little hotter but still, had a good flavor. The price was pretty on point. All in all, I don't think you'll be disappointed ordering delivery from here. If I ever get stuck here again I'd give it another go. Good luck.

Cale M.

Yelp
Excellent food, good prices, friendly staff (Elvira). I had an egg roll, chicken summer roll, Arawan Spicy with steamed rice and chicken, and mango sticky rice. Really enjoyed all of it. I love that they put the sauces on the table so you can add as much as you want, and the option of 3 sauces is great. Didn't take any pictures, the food didn't last very long. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Let me start by saying I love Thai food...I'm not sure exactly what this was but it was nothing like the hundreds of Other Thai foods I've had....let's start with the peanut sauce, for the chicken satay...it was very grainy but the flavor was decent...it goes downhill from here...the wontons in the wonton soup were average but the broth honestly tasted soapy....the potstickers were ok but the dipping sauce was had a really weird taste to it,,,and the fried rice also had odd flavors...I guess it's my own fault for thinking that ordering Thai food in Amarillo Texas was a good idea
google avatar

Susanne D.

Yelp
Very disappointed, Mongolian Beef was lots of rice with very little beef, same with the Teriyaki Beef, lots of sauce (no teriyaki ) lots of rice . Than our last dish had chicken, beef and shrimp, was mostly rice , $50 for rice - no thank you . The only reason why I gave two stars because of the egg rolls and my son liked those.
google avatar

Allyson S.

Yelp
The dumplings were over-fried and not hot. The tom-Kai-gai tasted like old milk and fish sauce (and I like fish sauce). The summer rolls were shredded, iceberg lettuce in rice paper (the sauce was good). The egg rolls weren't edible. The chicken cashew was ok.

Ashley L.

Yelp
Great service, the sweetest people I have ever met they are just like friends too us. The food is awesome we always leave full!

Brian D.

Yelp
Been here at least 4 times. Getting worse with their service, worse with their wait time, and worse with their portions and freshness. Took a friend today here for their 1st time and me and my wife were deeply. First, the wait on our order was like an hour. Next the fried rice order had nothing in it unlike other regular fried rice does and the rice was mushy and flavorless. Last I ordered garlic chicken and was given like 5 round chicken schnitzel pieces that barely had a hint of garlic flavor with two slices of cucumber and a slice of tomato on the side on a slice of a lettuce leaf. Totally disappointed. Then the spring rolls were extremely chewy and the sauce for them was different. Not the same quality. One of the ladies working behind the counter was asked by one of the workers for help because they were busy and the lady behind the counter gave some excuses why she couldn't. Come on. What kind of place is this. Not going back here anymore. There are other places that are better for sure. Not worth the money, time, etc. I watched the quality of this place go down the past 18 months.

Yelp
We have eaten here twice in a week. Thanks to hotel living. Our faves have been the thai bbq chicken, shrimp fried rice, and beef and broccoli. The thai tea taste like a creamsicle. The summer roll was ok, didnt care for the egg roll. The shrimp chow mein was descent. They serve good portions of rice. We'll be back. Ordered out and I didnt go in to get it, so not sure the decor. Give it a try, you'll enjoy it.

Yelp
Ordered the most basic of Thai and Chinese food...Pad Thai and Egg Drop Soup. Both were absolutely gross. If they can't get those right, there's no chance they can cook anything resembling proper Thai or Chinese food. Would never recommend this place. If the average score for this place is more than 2.5 stars, I can only guess it's because people in this town don't have a better frame of reference. Trust me, this ain't good.

Yelp
Host did not greet as I entered. Ordered Masaman Pork and the flavor was spot on but the potatoes were raw, there were no nuts and it was watery. Typically the broth should be very creamy. The Kai Satay was average and the cucumber salad was refreshing. The waiter was fantastic and attentive. I will give it another shot when I come back to Amarillo.

Yelp
We are new to Amarillo, and we were leaving a gathering of locals who were welcoming us to the community. We decided to stop in here, because it ended up being on our way home. When I saw the ratings I was a little worried, but I'm glad I did not try to leave. I ordered the Thai tea, an egg roll, the crab rangoons, and the Thai salad wraps to share with my friend. I ordered the green curry (sans green bell pepper, adding mushroom and zucchini), and my friend ordered the massaman curry. The egg rolls were a little soft, but they were flavorful; my friend didn't like them but I did. The crab rangoons were quite disappointing in our opinion, because where we come from the crab rangoons tend to be more purse-like and have a lot more cheese; also, there was little flavor and we didn't taste crab at all. The Thai salad wraps were excellent, other they said spicy on the menu there wasn't any spice at all in my opinion (my friends, who can only tolerate mild spice, agreed). When I tasted the Thai chicken wraps, I was a little worried that my green curry would be too mild, because I had not asked for any heat to be added to it. However when the meals were delivered, the green curry had a perfect spice to it. I was quite pleased, and that is rare for a first time experience. My friend's massaman Curry was also perfectly seasoned, and of course mild. And the Thai Iced Teas were absolutely fantastic. A lot of Rich, flavorful tea, perfectly Blended spices, and a delicious sweetness. We were both quite pleased, and will definitely stop in for Thai iced, even if we don't stay to eat.

Yelp
Driving through town looking for some Asian food. I'm happy I chose Thai Arawan. I got it to go to eat in my hotel room. The cream cheese wontons were crispy and flavorful. The sauce was great. I also had brown rice with spicy Arawan veggies. The sauce was so good, and the veggies were not over cooked.

Yelp
We've been here twice and both times were good experience. We ordered lunch special this time and the price is right for the amount of food we got. I ordered crispy garlic chicken and maranam curry with brown rice. I was very suprised with crispy garlic chicken because I expected fried chicken with sweet sauce but it wasn't like that at all. The curry was really good and it has no spicyness. Everyone in our table liked their food. Our server was very attentive and the lady that took our payment was super friendly.

Ashley J.

Yelp
One of my favorite thai food Restaurants. We do takeout but they have a beautiful dine in area
google avatar

Yelp
Not Great, But Decent Unfortunately we arrived late and they were 30 minutes from closing. So service though friendly was sporadic. I ordered the fried shrimp roll but couldn't taste any shrimp, for main the sweet and sour pork. Sauce was good but pork was over cooked and tough. The fried rice was ok. My spouse had the shrimp spring rolls and wontons which were tasty. Portions and prices were reasonable and there's free parking available in front.

Yelp
The worst experience ever!! We ordered to go food and ask them to make sure there are plates and bowls for the soup. Once we got back to our place and unpacked the food there was no bowls, plates , utensils or napkins. WTF ! And of course no fortune cookies either. This place is a joke, don't waste your money. And to top it off I rate the food a 3.5 out of 10.. Thanks for nothing ..
google avatar

Kahn L.

Yelp
Food typical thai food. We frequent this place for lunch when we can but......after today 6/8/2017 more than likely we won't be returning. Reason. Inadequate service. Had to ask for lemon for my water . Had to ask for a refill. It was odd we re wives our ticket quickly compared to other. Yet are server Eve was somewhat not that great with us. But she did find time to use her phone.
google avatar

Yara H.

Yelp
If you're looking for some flavorful, mouthwateringly delicious food, LOOK ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. I am actually appalled that this bland excuse of Thai food is really being served by native Thai owners. This is by far the WORST south Asian cuisine I've ever had. Don't waste your time or money here. Forgot to take a picture of my Wonton soup that smelt like FEET. I'm literally disgusted.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
Food was amazing and that's saying the most seeing how my daughters are extremely picky about their Thai/Chinese foods. They Loved and so did I.
google avatar

Stephen W.

Yelp
Went there one time for lunch and had Pad Thai. It was actually very good. After the worst BBQ ever the night before I was cautious about what to expect in Amarillo. But the dish has a nice sweetness, lots of chicken, noodles were tasty. Definitely one of the best pad thais I have had. The restaurant was expansive and clean. By the time we left the place was full, so obviously this is good place for Thai in Amarillo.
google avatar

Brailee B.

Yelp
Excellent service and amazing food! I've been going here since I was a kid and my parents went there while pregnant with me. Love this place so much!! Always will be a go to
google avatar

Kaytlin Y.

Yelp
Great Pad Thai! Amazing Egg Drop Soup! Can't wait to try other dishes from here. Ordered the Pad Thai is packed with meat and had great flavor.
google avatar

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Watery, flavorless red curry served with frozen peas of all things. The curry contained chicken breast meat that was tough. Summer rolls tasted ok but were sloppily rolled without regard for appearance. This was some of the worst Thai food I have ever eaten, unfortunately.
google avatar

Azeral P.

Yelp
Despite promising reviews this was a disappointment. They immediately started off on the wring foot when I couldn't order a Thai ice tea or an aloe drink because the person who knew how to make them wasn't working. Seriously? Next was thr tom yum soup which.... I'm sorry was so far off from what tom yum should taste like that I had to confirm they gave me the right soup. I've probably consumed gallons of tom yum soup as its my favorite Thai dish. I will nit be returning.
google avatar

Yelp
This was our first visit. Ordered spring rolls, gyoza, Panang curry, pineapple curry and the mango with sticky rice. Spring rolls were ok, gyoza was small and over cooked. You couldn't tell the difference between the two Curry's. There were no vegetables in either. Basically just a plate of orange. No other color, no deviation between the ingredients. Taste was bland. Dessert: I love mango with sticky rice but here it was not good. Rice was like a glop week old rice with what looked like the bottom of the can of coconut milk. The toasted sesame seeds made it all taste a little burnt. As we were leaving we noticed the cook sitting in the dining room eating with no shoes on. Disgusting Highly disappointed and will not spend my money here again.

Andrew A.

Yelp
Do not order from Thai Arawan online. They take zero responsibility for online orders claiming it is all a third party so nothing their fault. Ordered for 6pm deliver and received confirmation texts and receipt. At 6:20 I called them and they had zero record from my order. they said there was nothing they could do and they hung up on me. I enjoy their food but after this experience I will look for a different Thai place to order from.

Kaytlin Y.

Yelp
Delicious! Everything is always cooked fresh! consistently good food and the portions are generous!
google avatar

Travis A.

Yelp
Terrible experience at what used to be a decent Thai restaurant. Wonton soup was barely lukewarm and the wontons were so hard they could hardly be cut with a spoon. Summer rolls were mediocre. Panang curry was also cool and the combination meat was seemingly undercooked. Panang curry was bland by the dish's typical standards. The worst Panang curry I have EVER eaten. $15 for some of the most terrible food I've had in a long time. Amarillo has such better Asian restaurants. Steer clear of this one. I don't give one star lightly--there was no redeeming part of this horrendous dining experience. If I don't get sick from the little bit I ate, I will consider that a win.
google avatar

Brent H.

Yelp
I usually stop at Thai Arawan when I am in Amarillo. I like the coconut shrimp and shrimp rolls for appetizers, and I usually have the Banker's Special entree and ask for it to be cooked spicy. Service was good and refills were timely. I also like that the quality is consistent so things always taste the same as you remembered them.
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
I LOOOVE THIS PLACE! Their curry is so delicious! And the staff is so nice. Every time I go I'm so shocked by how good the food tastes. And the lunch deals are a pretty good price too. Plus they'll get the food out to you super fast.
google avatar

Tiffany S.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Their food is top-notch and their servers are incredibly kind. The weekday lunch specials are unreal- wonderfully affordable and practically enough food for two. I'm a bit of a snob about curry dishes, but these guys know what they're doing. I've also had a few salads of their that were out of this world.

Laurie G.

Yelp
Ordered 3 meals for pickup. Arrived 20 minutes after ordering. Waited almost an hour before I received our food. People came in a and left after eating in the restaurant. When I received the food it was incorrect. I will never use this app to order again.

Yelp
This is our forth visit. We live in Dallas but make sure we plan to stop here when we are in Amarillo. First time here we ordered Pad Thai extra spicy. It was too hot for us, but "extra spicy" in Dallas Thai places is usually not spicy. Even though it was too spicy and we could not eat it (our fault) it tasted so damn good! We took food home, still too spicy cold. But we came back the next night because we knew under the heat there was amazing food. We ordered Pad Thai "little spicy" and we're most pleased. Among our next few stops we have explored the menu, always getting Pad Thai to go. Have brought friends here. Never disappointed when we come. No other Thai place I've been to can live up to the food they serve here.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I'd never been here before, or honestly even knew it was here, but I'm glad we stopped in for lunch post-church with the fam bam. It wasn't the best Thai/Chinese I'd ever had, but I'll give it a solid 3. Most everyone at the table had a fried rice dish of some sort. I stuck my fork in for a few nibbles and thought it was just so-so. My favorite fried rice is still going to be at the Golden Lotus on the Boulevard, and this one just didn't quite hit the mark. I ordered a green chicken curry that I thought was actually pretty yummy. I hadn't had Thai curry in a while and I thought the spiciness and sweetness of the curry and coconut milk was really well balanced. I'd probably still trek out to Golden Lotus for my fix when the craving strikes, but I'd say this place is a solid substitute if you aren't wanting to go all the way out there and if you need to pay with a credit card.

Yelp
Our stop at Thai Arawan was in the middle of a cross-country trek, relocating the family from Kansas City to Phoenix ... and we were not looking forward to a typical fast-food pit stop. I was pleased to discover some good reviews of this local Thai restaurant ... and pleased to find that it was conveniently located just off the interstate. Truth be told, my expectations were not that high -- I was simply looking forward to something other than fast-food - hopefully some decent Asian cuisine - but certainly nothing all that memorable. Wow, was I wrong! Thai Arawan was one of our most pleasant and enjoyable dining experiences ... period ... and an absolute gem of a find for travelers weary of the fast-food experience. And in Amarillo of all places! (Sorry Texas friends ... just wasn't what I was expecting!!) I can't say enough about the food. Everything we had was excellent. I would probably agree with other reviewers that the menu is perhaps skewed a bit toward Chinese offerings. But what they do offer, is great. The fried rice is unique but very tasty. Some of the best Pad Thai I've ever had. I ordered the Pad Kee Mao - just enough spice to make it palatable to the full table, though I added a little extra chile to suit my personal taste. The satays -- we got a combination of pork and chicken -- were delicious ... especially when dipped in the homemade peanut sauce. We had a party of eight (Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, and four kiddos) - after just a short wait a table was available. We stopped for lunch midweek and while it wasn't packed, you could tell it was a local favorite. The service was fast, friendly, and accurate. The owner/manager stopped by our table a couple of times. Grandma and Grandpa aren't big on spicy items, and they were very open to accommodating for a lower spice level. The decor was again not what we were expecting. Located in a modern strip mall, inside was spacious and clean and very tastefully decorated. The high ceilings gave it a very open feel. (As an elephant collector, I was delighted to find that the primary decor element was "elephants" ... and I learned that "Arawan" means elephant. Good food and trivia, too!) Can't say enough good about Thai Arawan - give them a try next time you're in Amarillo!! You'll be glad you did!!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
Have been to Thai Arawan several times, the decor is great, nice and clean atmosphere, great stained concrete floors and vibrant colors throughout. Excellent service, expansive menu, private seating without sitting on other peoples laps. I've tried several dishes and all have been fantastic!

Yelp
Today is the first time I order food from here since this place opened. I gave every restaurant a chance. Oh My God. I ordered go see me, pat Thai and shrimp fried rice ; the rice taste like SALT, go see me, the noodle was over fried and the stuff go along with the noodle taste so bland., and The pat Thai tasted no flavor at all. The receptionist doesn't smile when I walk in. Well of course I went there for food not for a smile. As you know when you go into any restaurant, and you feel welcome, you enjoy your food even more. I ate at all Thai restaurant in Amarillo and the only Thai restaurant I would recommend people to go to if you looking for Thai taste is THAI HOUSE located on Amarillo Blvd.
google avatar

J D.

Yelp
Thai Arawan has been here forever. And it shows. We started with shrimp rolls and a 'new' addition of lettuce wraps. The shrimp rolls were over fried and the lettuce to make said 'wrap' was limp and watery-we should have just asked for fresher lettuce. My combo pad kee mao was sad. Smelly shrimp, no spice, and entirely too much sauce/oil. Others had pad thai and chow mein which were average at best but nothing special. Thai Arawan needs to pull it together. There are lots of options now and judging by the empty tables, they are loosing their footing.
google avatar

Cale C.

Yelp
A Thai restaurant should have more Thai dishes on it than Chinese shouldn't it? I ordered the spicy Thai catfish (real Thai name escapes me now - and wasn't printed as such on the menu anyway). It had an interesting Mussaman-type curry. The biggest drawback to the fish was the crust was thicker than the fish fillet.

Apple B.

Yelp
This place "tries" to be Thai. I ordered several dishes and easily noticed that everything has Chinese cuisine touch to it. They're better off advertising their restaurant as Chinese because they are all "Chinese-taste bud" led dishes.

Wayne H.

Yelp
We have eaten at Thai Arawan for several years and have always enjoyed excellent service and good food. Unfortunately, this evening's experience was the exception. The beef in the pepper beef was--for the most part--very tough and underdone. The peppers tasted as if they had not been cooked at all. This was very disappointing. I hope service and food taste can be improved.
