16 Portland Restaurants Open for Lunch and Dinner Every Day

"This takeout staple, with locations in Beaverton and on Northwest 23rd Avenue, serves great renditions of all the hits. But a few things separate Thai Bloom from the pack, with extravagant seasonal dishes like the fisherman’s fried rice with calamari, scallops, and crispy basil, or lamb shank braised in massaman curry. Another highlight is the wild, retro dessert cocktail menu, complete with Godiva chocolate martinis, Thai White Russians, and tom yum vodka." - Thom Hilton

Google
Great Thai restaurant with a cozy ambience and a wide variety of delicious dishes. Service was quick, and everything we tried tasted amazing. One of the few family-friendly spots open late on Fridays and Saturdays. Bonus points for the well-stocked drink menu!

Google
Enjoyed the Fall/Winter menu. We started with the vegetarian curry puffs followed by the pumpkin curry with tofu. Both dishes were very tasty. While not extremely spicy, the curry definitely builds up the heat...be aware. ;-)

Google
Didn’t like the non vegetarian options much. Tom Yum soup was the best order that we got. I heard the drunken noodles are also really good. The pineapple rice was lack luster and panang curry was too salty.

What an amazing dinner did we have at this restaurant. We had the Wonton soup as entree and shared the Crispy Duck and the Seasonal Beef Pumpkin Curry... bomb!! This restaurant brings depth of flavours and true substance to each bite. The portions are generous and the staff peaceful and light. We fell in love with Thai cuisine thanks to this restaurant. We noted this restaurant and will keep it in our hearts for the future. Thank you!

Google
Very tasty restaurant for some good Thai eats. The stir fry was excellent with plenty of spices and heat, just the way Thai food should be. Thai iced tea was excellent and service was top notch. Food was quick and plenty of check ins while seated outside. They even have little heaters by the tables for those colder days.

Google
I’m finally getting around to writing this, but Thai Bloom on NW 23rd absolutely deserves the praise. I was scrolling through places I’ve been and instantly remembered how much I loved this spot—it’s easily one of my favorite dining experiences in Portland. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly and seated with ease, even though the place had a great buzz of happy diners. The energy in the restaurant was contagious—everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, and I was no exception. Our server was a total gem—she walked me through the vegetarian options like I was a regular (I’m not even vegetarian, but she almost made me want to be). Her enthusiasm was so genuine and kind. And the food? Absolutely bursting with flavor. Every bite was a reminder of why I love Thai cuisine. The location makes it even better. NW 23rd is one of my favorite neighborhoods in Portland—the charm of the old Victorian homes turned into boutiques and restaurants gives the whole street a welcoming, cozy vibe. Thai Bloom fits right in, and honestly, the food elevated the whole experience.

Google
Thai Bloom Restaurant is a wonderful place to enjoy authentic Thai cuisine in a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I was blown away by the delicious food and excellent service. One of the standout dishes I tried was the Pad Thai, which was perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of heat. The Tom Yum Soup was also excellent, with a complex balance of spicy, sour, and savory flavors. The restaurant's ambiance is serene and inviting, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that creates a calming atmosphere perfect for a night out with friends or a romantic dinner. The staff was attentive and friendly, making sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Another dish that stood out was the Massaman Curry. The beef was tender and the curry was flavorful, perfect to complement with the fragrant jasmine rice. Overall, I highly recommend Thai Bloom Restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious Thai dining experience with top-notch service and a tranquil atmosphere.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Camas! Great service & food experience the last two weeks we have ordered. Fresh food & fast. Clean/new oil. Food is flavorful and great portions too! Love the peanut Sauce! I also appreciate that the delivery lady always has a smile on her face and is very nice. Thank you, Thai Bloom :)

Yelp
Ambiance: 7/10 casual sit down place. Service: 8/10 server was super nice, helpful, and patient Food: 6/10 this was a dish I would order again but wouldn't recommend getting the beef with it. The beef is slow cooked and offers a darker flavor than the light, warming flavors of the curry. The curry was super thick and creamy and the veggies were delicious especially with the cilantro. Next time I'll get the chicken but all in all a good dish

Yelp
We went for Happy Hour. The highlight is the service. Super friendly, attentive and present. Our favorites were the edamame, drunken noodles with tofu and tamarind margarita. We asked for everything to be hot spicy across the board and it was still manageable The pad thai was a bit too sweet and the thai fried rice didn't have much flavor to it. Price was the only reason why I brought it from a 4 to a 3. Their happy hour prices are now as much as the full menu price in other nearby decent thai places - but with half the portion Their normal price is almost double for the same dish or curry, and I don't think the food nor the ambiance is worth that even with the service.

Yelp
Honest review, this place was OK but not great. I had the khao soi, while my gf had the pad Thai. I would rate the khao soi at like slightly below 4/5, but the pad Thai was a huge disappointment. The noodles felt undercook and were bunched up together. Was lacking the classic pad thai flavor too. Might go back for the khao soi, but definitely not for the pad Thai

Yelp
Very good food. We enjoyed pretty much everything we got. The green curry had a little kick and was a good classic thai curry flavor. The chicken satay appetizer was tender and had a great peanut sauce. The crying tiger had a nice tangy sauce. We also like the chicken fried rice and the beef pad see ew. Staff was really nice all around and very attentive. We also appreciated the air conditioning since it was pretty hot outside.

Yelp
Very nice staff. Extremely attentive. The servers refilled our waters 3-4 times without us needing to call them over which was a nice change compared to other restaurants. They had no issue splitting our bill 3 ways which is always a plus. I ordered the Yellow Curry (with tofu) which had a mild flavor. The tofu and veggies were much harder than I like and the rice was mushy. The noodles my friends tried (Drunken Noodle and Bangkok Noodles) had better seasonings and tastes but were not anything spectacular. The observant and polite servers were appreciated but the food was underwhelming. Especially since the restaurant is on a busy and popular street, meaning there are many good dining options just steps away.

Yelp
Love Thai Bloom -- been going for years but just now getting around to a review. Some of the tastiest Thai in Portland. They are a bit on the pricier side ($17-$24 for an entree) but otherwise everything is outstanding. The eggplant stir fry in particular is superb and I don't even like eggplant. Highly recommend their happy hour and any drink from the bar (they have strong pours!). Popped in on NYE and they had lovely holiday decor still up and put NYE head accessories at every table! Very festive! The service is consistently very attentive and the staff are all very friendly. Edit: updated to add happy hour menu!! Just stopped by again & had a great time :)

Yelp
It was my first time at this location a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday. It was a large party, of about 20ish people, so we were given a private room with a $100 deposit that was to be applied towards the bill at the end. As part of the first half to arrive, my friend ordered a glass of wine that was forgotten about and had to remind the server once everyone else received their drinks. 20 people is definitely a lot, so there is some leniency from the group, but I feel like the server did not even try to remember anyone's orders and resorted to announcing the dish upon entrance into the room and waited for someone to claim it. One server was definitely not efficient for a group of our size. For an appetizer I ordered the crying tiger, which says on the menu "tender, marinated slices of flank steak lightly grilled" but it did not come out lightly grilled, more so dry and overcooked. Another person at the table ordered the dish medium rare for it to be served with no pink at all. For my entrée I ordered the basil fried rice with chicken. Portions were big but the rice was mushy. My friend ordered the signature boat noodle soup that I found very oily. Another friend ordered tom yum soup that came room temperature and another friend said they saw it on a table outside of the private room when they went to the restroom and still there when they came back so it must've been there for awhile. I don't recall anyone loving their meal. There is a cutting fee for cake but I unfortunately do not recall how much. With a party that size, the check was not able to be split and the server had to be reminded of the $100 deposit that was to be applied on the bill. Gratuity was 22%. All in all, there are better Thai restaurants in town and it would not be my first choice to come back here.

Yelp
This really is the best Thai place in Portland. I get take out because I can stand crowds. Everyone it is delicious. The food is consistently yummy and fresh. Not over greasy or limp. I can't recommend enough for Thai food.

Yelp
Came by for an early dinner after walking around the International Rose Garden. It was late afternoon so the place was mostly empty, so we were promptly seated. We noticed it was happy hour so we decided to take advantage of the cheaper prices. We got the papaya salad, pad thai, drunken noodles, and the crying tiger steak. The papaya salad was good and tasted fresh but was on the sweeter side. The pad Thai was the same. It was flavorful and the texture of the noodles were good, but it was a bit on the sweeter side. I asked for the drunken noodles to be extra spicy, and it was actually pretty spicy, which I really enjoyed because most places don't make it spicy enough for me. The drunken noodles were my favorite dish out of the dishes we ordered. The crying tiger steak was nice and tender, and the tamarind sauce that it came with went well with it. The steak didn't have any sear or crust on it, which would've made it amazing, but it was still tasty. Service was good and quick, which is nice and expected during non-peak hours. The dinner prices are on the higher side, so I'm glad we were able to take advantage of the happy hour menu.

Yelp
Thai Boom should be the name of this place as the flavor of the dishes pack a punch. I really loved it. Service was great and portions were good. We had the: Drunken noodles- 4/5 (spicy and flavorful) Tom Kha soup- 5/5 (and you have to get rice with it) Thai Iced Tea- 5/5 (companion drank half of it before I could get to the photo) Plenty of seating during lunchtime. It was quite busy for a late lunch at around 2 pm. Going to the bathroom is a bit tough since you need a code to get in. Luckily they were nice enough to help me with the code. The bathroom was clean. This place hit the spot with its flavors, service and portion size.

Yelp
Pleasant setting with lots of windows. No cramped seating. Octavio was our server. Attentive and prompt with service. We ordered Pumpkin Curry and Cashew Chicken. Fresh ingredients. Beautifully served. The combination appetizers were to start. Delicious! Enough food to take half home for tomorrow's lunch. First time here. We'll be back!

Yelp
I got a to go and walking in the place smelled so good and the server was so sweet and pleasant. Food wasn't bad

Louise B.

Yelp
The service is really prompt and friendly and the Tom Ka soup is amazing. The Drunken noodles are really good too

Jane E.

Yelp
The manager was so friendly and nice! The food was also really good. Love the layout of the restaurant and the big windows.

Alberto A.

Yelp
Great service, smiles and good food. It's not the type of restaurant that has stellar wow food. That being said the food was excellent, great, wholesome, absolutely nothing to complain about . Au Contraire, great experience ! We went with our granddaughters and had a great time. Very casual. Recommend this place.

Yelp
I live in Vancouver and often get take out from Thai restaurants here, and fortunately even though we have only a tiny fraction of the good restaurants that Portland has, we do have some good Thai restaurants. I have occasionally gotten food at a restaurant in Portland, including a couple times at Thai Bloom. And they are excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
Thai Bloom was an accident, we didn't mean to go there. We were recommended another place but got turned away because we didn't have a reservation. So we came here, and turns out it was some of the best Thai food we had. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone in the area

Yelp
Service was excellent. Our private table for noisy group of four also perfect. Bottle of wine perfect. However we did not enjoy the food. Far too much fish sauce. The larb was overwhelming in it. And our pad prik stirfry also tasted of fish sauce. The red curry was ok. Not nearly as good as the Thai place located at The Beaverton Round. Color not rich and beautiful. Kind of dull looking and not mouth watering engaging like red curry should be. No way going back. We tossed the leftovers after thinking maybe they would be ok. Smelled and kind of looked gross. Our out of town friends barely touched their plates after one bite...
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
We tried this place out because we were tired, hungry, and not in the mood to wait. Even though I was hungry the food here was not it. Everything was so extremely salty. Instantly regretted coming here over the other choices that were on our list.
google avatar

Yelp
My brother and I hit this place up before the Timers game and the service, food, and atmosphere were all excellent! It was warm out (finally), so we got to sit at an outside table and watch the traffic and the people rush by while we enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Our server was quite knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the Basil Fried Rice. I was looking for something light and summery (while still delightfully spicy) and this did the trick! "Medium spicy" had the perfect level of kick, where I could definitely taste it, but didn't have to take breaks. Overall, I'm excited to eat here again and try some of the other tasty sounding items on the menu.

Yelp
We were visiting from out of town - Yelp helped us decide on an earl dinner. We strolled in after a nice afternoon at the Portland Japanese Garden Where we were welcomed by a very nice hostess and seated outside. To our surprise there was an extensive Happy Hour menu, which we took full advantage of. Started with the wontons with crab meat. So good. Followed by chicken satay. Amazing. Then we got Chicken Pad Thai and Thai Fried Rice with Chicken. The happy hour menu was very generous and super tasty. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Our favorite place of the weekend!

D L.

Yelp
23rd location. Parking nearby w Parking Kitty App. Happy Hour Saturday at 4 on Rose Fest weekend- not crowded. Good decor and clean bathrooms (code needed). Great service. Server asked us if we wanted spices to add- good tasting. Split tempura and HH spicy chicken w basil. Both tasty and hot. Came out fast. Two Mai Tais. All for $51+ tip. Would go again but don't live close- may try other locations.

Yelp
I have tried Thai bloom on various occasions and I absolutely love it, their pad Thai is delicious and so is the green curry.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
We normally go in search for Duck, however we were distracted my the Winter Specials. OMG, the Bangkok Noodles are to die for! The smoky glaze on the wide noodles is amazing. We must return soon before the menu changes. We also had the Pumpkin Curry with Beef. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, crisp without being undercooked. Indoor seating, the tables are spaced apart for social distancing. During the time we were there, the restaurant started to fill up.
google avatar

Konrad J.

Yelp
A nice Thai place with multiple locations and a very large menu. We went for happy hour, for which they have a large food and drink menu. Substitutions are not an issue: the server replaced the banana liqueur in the Pineapple Express drink I ordered without any issues when I asked since I do not enjoy bananas. The Pad Thai was decent; first time Thai diners would likely enjoy the dish, but more experienced Thai connoisseurs will have had better elsewhere. The Tom Kha soup seemed overfilled with veggies that were undercooked; it would have almost worked better as a curry. Overall, a fine local chain that is neither exceptional nor disappointing. In two words: not impactful.
google avatar

Jared K.

Yelp
Fast. Friendly. Consistent. This is probably my fourth or fifth time going to Thai Bloom and the food is always tasty, the servers are always extremely nice, and the service is always timely. Although there's no shortage of great Thai food, in Portland, Thai Bloom for me, is a great go-to, local place that's in a great location (without being as pricey as some other options around city). Point being, I just came back from happy hour, and my partner and I ordered veggie spring rolls for starters, Pad Thai (and another vegetable dish, that for the life of me I can't remember), and it totaled a little over $30. For everything! Even better, there's never a wait to get seated and you can get in and out in less than an hour. Or, if you want, you can certainly stay longer and have a few drinks at their bar. Plus, because it's on 23rd you can easily have after-dinner tea, coffee, or a random conversation with a total stranger within minutes of here. You choose! ;)

Yelp
Honestly the crab pad Thai is the best thing I've ever had in my life!! I live in Arizona and cannot find anything that comes even close to how amazing this was -- I still think about it a month later!! The bartender and managers (or owners?) were amazing too!! All around my favorite place in Portland.

jelina h.

Yelp
My friends and I had the most wonderful experience here! We came during happy hour, which was definitely a good idea as food was half off. I got the Spicy Chicken with Basil, which I loved, especially the little pieces of crispy fried basil leaves on top. The chicken wings were also great, with a sweet and spicy tamarin-like sauce. Desserts were lovely too; the mango sticky rice was small but delicious and the three flavors of rice were really fun! Our server, Jonas, was super attentive, kind, and gave us recommendations of places to visit in Portland. Overall, just a fun and flavorful experience!

Bear O.

Yelp
I had a terrible experience. I went with my service animal and got denied to order food because the waiter said I could not have a service animal inside. He also asked for documentation which is federally illegal. I am a frequent customer and I love the food but this time I was really disappointed. The waiter was not kind in any reasons. I write this message with the purpose improving your service and let the owners know. I hope Thai Bloom trains their staff what to do in this situations. I ended up leaving since the waiter wouldn't take my order.

Yelp
This is by far the best Thai food we can find! The citrus chicken is a fantastic summer menu item. So unusual. My favorite ever is the Spicy Basil Chicken. Great place and always good service
google avatar

Sona B.

Yelp
Loved the ambiance, food was delicious and the quantity of the food was more than generous. One of my fav Thai restaurants that I have tried so far.

Yelp
Really great pad Thai! Eating inside was nice and the outside seating is fun too, especially if you have a dog.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
The food and taste quality is not as it was when I was last here in 2016... blan and horrible. Pad See Ew didn't taste as it should or any other dish. I forgot to mention, the staff was short tempered and unfriendly and a bit pushy... the only staff that was kind was the Asian staff.

Katie L.

Yelp
Some of the best Thai food I have ever had. We were blown away by the Tom Kha. The pineapple curry and Pad Se Ew were incredible. Feeling sad we don't live here, I want to come back tomorrow!
google avatar

Roma B.

Yelp
Great spot in the heart of downtown Portland! Social distancing and masks enforced. Street parking a bit hard to find. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Window seats are great for people watching. Service: Great service, good suggestions. Very accommodating. Ambience: Mid to upscale. Great spot for dinner. Food: Huge plates. Menu has a lot of items, including vegetarian options. Ordered the spicy chicken with basil, thai fried rice, pad see ew, and Buddha delight. Lots of variety of fresh vegetables. The flavors were authentic too, not too spicy or overly seasoned. Price: Very reasonable prices, huge portions enough for 2-3 meals.
google avatar

Yelp
I used to live in the Pearl and would frequent this restaurant during happy hour. It's a light menu with several yummy options. The restaurant itself isn't much to see. Nothing bad, just your average space. They do have some outdoor seating but it may be available during covid. Anyway, for my most recent visit, I decided to place a to go order from their website of chicken Tom Kha soup - medium spice and some sticky rice. I ordered the large "family" size bowl, which is $14.99. Their website is really easy to use and order from. Once I placed my order, I was given a pick up time, which was within 20 minutes. Once I arrived, my food was waiting for me at the front counter. Super quick. My soup was absolutely delicious. The flavors and the texture of the chicken were both perfect. I really dislike when bad pieces of fatty chicken are used, which was not the case here. My only complaint would be that the soup was super thick. I actually watered it down a bit, but no biggie. Given the large order, & a bit of extra water, this covered 3 meals for me throughout the weekend. Bonus. :).

Fabian N.

Yelp
Their Tom Kha soup is hands down the best on the state of Oregon. Make sure you get ot with the prawns which were ginormous and plentiful
google avatar

Todd M.

Yelp
Funny enough, we've never been inside to eat - but that's just because their food travels so well with delivery and we tend to hermit pretty hard. I love how robust the menu is - they have seasonal dishes that keep things interesting and authentic and you can tell everything is made with love. We always get the Cashew Chicken (at a 2.5 spice) and then rotate between the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Pad See Ew. We also usually add on either the Veggie Spring Rolls or the Fresh Salad Rolls. In addition to how delicious the food is, the portions are HUGE. I eat on those noodles for at least 2 days. Thai Bloom is our favorite Thai place in PDX!

Ryan L.

Yelp
We love Thai. The Tom Ka soup was wow!! We also had pineapple curry and pad se ew both of those were fantastic. They were very attentive and I never needed anything.
google avatar

Kirsten W.

Yelp
I've been going here for a long time. High prices for what you get, but they make superb curries. Their green curry is the best in the city. Shrimp salad rolls and crab pad thai are delicious. Only thing I would never order again are the pot stickers. They are house made, but just not very good. I can't afford to eat here often, but I do crave it.
google avatar

Vanessa H.

Yelp
I got the vegan pad see ewe, it was lacking flavor. I've had this at other places that make it vegan and the flavor is amazing. Also got the veggie rolls and they were super greasy, didn't even eat them.
google avatar

Hanna S.

Yelp
Great service Large portions Fun happy hour deals Lotus drink was a hit. See photos Pad see ew. Vegan style per my request was so good. Everyone loved their dishes. Very good larb salad as reviewed by family member. Soup was a hit. Excellent Thai food

Yelp
Came here a month ago with some friends and sat in their outdoor dining area with table and chairs close to the street and it made me feel like I was back in Italy. They have a QR code at the table that you can scan to get your menu directly on your phone which is convenient and safe for COVID. Our waitress was friendly and attentive throughout our dining experience. For our appetizer we ordered some veggie spring rolls (pricey for $9 and only 3 pieces and the Crying Tiger (grilled flank steak) with a tamarind dipping sauce which was delicous. For our entrees we went with the Spicy Chicken with Basil, classic Phad Thai, the Panang Curry and Yellow curry. Overall, for the quality of food Thai Bloom is great! I just wished they had some more stir fry options or crispy basil chicken. There is limited parking available so we just parked on the street and walked over. Great area for a date night and to walk around and get dessert too!
google avatar

Rashi T.

Yelp
I do genuinely like Thai Bloom but the food experience at this particular location was underwhelming . Ordered on the phone and was told 25 minutes and the food was promptly handled over ,once I arrived. The packaging was good as the curries and soups stayed good while bringing them back home .The food itself was not much to write home about , I was hoping to get a good dose of spice as I specifically asked for extra spicy but the curry tasted anything but spicy .Infact on the contrary tasted sweet and also lacked salt .The Kao Soi Noodles were good and had a generous portion size compared to the Green curry . They also come very nicely packed and you can add toppings according to preference.
google avatar

Karina U.

Yelp
Thai iced tea- amazing Drunken noodles- fine but different flavor from what I'm used to Service- fantastically friendly and quick for pickup Decor looked super nice with seating outdoors but we only came to pick up our food My only gripe was a piece of calamari had not been cleaned well and there was still shell or whatever inedible material comes with the meat. The calamari also did not have much flavor on it like the noodles did.
google avatar

Melissa O.

Yelp
I'm not sure what all the reviews on great food, large portions and fantastic customer service is about. The portion size was typical in comparison to other Thai places I've eaten at, but the flavors were nothing special, yet their prices are higher! I was with a larger party so we ate family style, sharing all our appetizers and dishes. There was nothing memorable except the waiter's recommendation of Tom Yum with noodles because the noodles were so overcooked and mushy, they couldn't even be picked up. When it was time to pay, the waiter was flustered over us wanting to split the bill. He kept saying, "The gratuity?! Who's going to take care of the gratuity?" It was like, "Dude! Chill out. You'll get your tips!" His attitude really put a damper on our evening.

Yelp
My first visit to Thai Bloom was when a friend took me to pick up some Miang Kum for a party we were attending in, and she told me that it is a famous Thai street food, and not very common in the US. I fell completely in love with it, and Thai Bloom as well. This time around, I went with the Pad Prik, my wife ordered the Crab Fried Rice, and we split some Seafood Wontons. We were seated outside because the weather was perfect, and 23rd is always good for some people watching, and some boutique shopping and dessert afterward. Our appetizer came with him 3 minutes, hot and fresh, and that filling is so savory and creamy...man. So good! Our entrees came out right on its heels, after only about 10 minutes in total. The Pad Prik sauce was peppery, and just as I like it: extra spicy. The veggies were crisp and fresh. Thai Bloom is probably the best Thai place in Portland. The only restaurant that compares in my opinion is Thai Orchid in Vancouver; they are neck-and-neck. We will be back soon enough so that I can make up for not getting the Miang Kum this time!
