I wish I could say this place was great, but unfortunately, other than the fantastic service, it just wasn't what I was hoping for out of a small family-run food business.
We were a group of five and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server (wish I could remember her name!) was very attentive and answered any questions we had regarding the menu. The first concern was the fact that I asked for extra ice in my drink and was only given three ice cubes. I asked for more and she did bring a glass of ice, but advised us of the fact that she had run across the street earlier to buy some bags of ice because their machine wasn't working... Okay. Things happen. I get it.
We all ordered something different off the menu but started with the wontons (?) which weren't bad at all. When our food was served, I was a bit disappointed because I had asked for it to be extra spicy (I asked for a level 10!) and it wasn't spicy at all. When I asked for some of the traditional chili oil or paste that Thai restaurants normally have, we were told that they had run out of it. We asked for a bottle version, but they didn't have that either due to the current shortage of red chili peppers... Well this pretty much ruined it for me! No spice on my Thai? No spice = No bueno!!!
Food was mediocre. Bland to say the least! Plates were of a good portion, but my dish was more onion and bell peppers than chicken and noodles. My husband ordered orange chicken and he said his was "just okay". Our friends who were previous patrons, said that their food was okay as well, but that the better Thai restaurant is further into town. It's too bad that we didn't go there instead, but with this place being closer to our new home, I guess we were just hoping for a more satisfying experience. We will definitely drive those extra miles next time we want a good Thai meal!
