Where to Eat or Drink After Hiking in Oregon | Eater Portland

"Despite the heartbreaking impact of the 2017 Eagle Creek fire, the waterfall hikes of the Columbia River Gorge remain some of the most beautiful — and popular — hikes in the region. On the way back, pull off I-84 and into quaint Troutdale for Thai Carnation’s harmony of flavors and generous portions, in a relaxed and spacious setting. Keep an eye out for lunch specials like the sweet-sour-savory three flavors halibut or spicy volcano beef. Thai Carnation offers limited outdoor seating on picnic benches as well as takeout seven days per week." - Nathan Williams

I’ll leave a 5 star the food was great the location is terrible. Yes it’s convenient located off 205 but also right by the homeless camps and the Fred Meyer that got shut down due to theft and homeless. The Kohl’s that got shut down due to theft and homeless. I’d definitely order take out or pick up but I wouldn’t eat at location even if they served free food. Sorry nothing to the owners or workers the area is what it is. I got orange chicken lots of vegetables! And pad Thai chicken. If your looking for something more filling definitely go with the pad Thai more filling but if you need something healthier orange chicken definitely had great veggies.

This meal was a masterclass in textures. The crispy pork belly (Moo Krob) was the highlight—the skin stayed remarkably crunchy while the meat remained juicy. Below it, the BBQ red pork (Moo Dang) added a nice sweetness, topped with fragrant fried garlic and fresh cilantro. The egg noodles were 'al dente' and soaked up all the savory juices at the bottom. Highly recommended for anyone craving a hearty, protein-packed lunch. Great food, even better service! Not only was this pork noodle bowl incredibly delicious, but the owner was also so sweet and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you feel like a regular on your first visit. The crispy pork skin was a highlight, but the friendly atmosphere made the meal truly special. Support local shops with big hearts like this one! 🍜✨

Really liked the drunken noodles. Very tasty and made with care. The service was very good and interior was clean. The location has homeless people around and they come inside and ask for money. Parking can be somewhat difficult to find but worth still checking out!

Really delicious food and nice folks running it. I got the pad see ew for $15 and the tom yum for $14 which is far too much for one person I'll be enjoying it for two meals 😋 that is to say, the portions make me happy 😌 the food itself, also delicious. The pad see ew noodles were nice and bouncy with good flavor, and the tom yum is a perfect balance of spicy, tangy, and aromatic.

I noticed a providence nurse eating lunch the other day, I asked what smelled so good, she said she ordered from Thai Carnation and I should try sometime. Well I did and wow! The best pineapple fried rice I’ve ever had. It’s was so good I ordered a second to go. The beer from Cascadia tap house in the same food hall was a great complement to a scrumptious Thai dinner.

Ordered the chicken satay and a pad Thai with chicken medium spicy. I feel like the medium spice was PERFECT but I like things spicy. It was on the edge of what was comfortable for my husband. If you aren't big on spice, order very mild. The satay was perfectly cooked, the peanut dipping sauce was very tasty, and the pad Thai was perfect. This is my new favorite Thai place in Portland!

This place makes Thai food in the Gateway neighborhood. The food is delicious. The Pad See Ew and Yellow Curry had great flavors. You can really taste the Wok Hei in the Pad See Ew. The staff are super nice as well and are always very helpful. Recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area.

Yelp
Sawadee kha Yelpies !!! Imagine authentic fresh Thai food then as you walk through the door you're pleasantly welcomed to a place that feels like you have been there several times before. Yes that's how we felt even though it was the first time. The menu is clean and easy to read. The food comes out quickly and the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu options. Kick back and enjoy Cheers DMK

Yelp
Tried this place out for a lunch spot yesterday. I was really impressed with the quality of food, and the friendly service. I ordered the lunch red curry with chicken - it was SO good!
