Bubble Waffles Arrive in Dupont Circle | Eater DC

"I learned that Asian eatery Thai Chef is introducing a new dessert bar starting Monday, February 12, offering buy-one-get-one-free bubble waffles with ice cream through Tuesday, February 13. Co-owner Chalisa Fitts told me the Thai tea–flavored waffles are a first for the area; other featured sweets include fried banana with ice cream (green tea, lychee, mango, coconut, sesame, or vanilla), Thai custard with toast, and assorted milk and tea drinks." - Warren Rojas

Google
i ordered online. pretty easy to order. they do charge “online platform fee” of $5.95. food was mediocre (bland) i ordered the Pad see iew which i give a 5/10. bangkok chicken 3/10. coconut boba smoothie was 3/10 and thai tea with boba 0/10 (tasteless, watered down). i do NOT recommend. i will NOT come back and waste my money here. if i could give it a zero star i would!!

Quick service and delicious food, decent prices and so good I had to get a pad Thai to go

This place was delicious. Perfect spice, texture, creaminess. Service was phenomenal. Support the locals.

If I could give zero stars, I would!! A friend and I got some fried rice (Pineapple and Combined) yesterday Monday Oct 18th. Rice tasted funny when I got home (17 minutes later). I still eat a little: BAD idea. It tasted weird, but since it was my first time eating food from there I thought it may be that I was just not used to it. After a few scoops, I just could not continue, cause the bad taste didn't go away. I've been sick since yesterday. I've been set on or hugging the toilet all day!! One hour ago I got to feel a little better, so I took most of the food back there to tell them what happened, and when I showed to them the rice was slimy. She said it is impossible, and said "No matter what you say, it was good yesterday." So there, if you get sick for eating from this place, PLEASE evaluate so other people will know the truth.

Google
A quiet but inviting restaurant in the evening with great dishes. Still going strong in 2025 with great dishes.

Google
Hands-down, my favorite Thai food restaurant in the area. The owner is wonderful, knows my order by heart, and the food is absolutely amazing.

Sharon M.

Google
My delivery meal was delivered promptly and the food was hot and very tasty! Very pleased.

Google
Had the drunken noodle with a spring roll appetizer. I ordered it hot and it was not to overpowering to cover up the actual taste. The order was quick maybe 10 minutes. I will be back to try something else in the future.

Yelp
This family owned restaurant is worth a visit or many located at the end of a busy strip mall Thai Chef can be tricky to locate. Everything we have tried has been well prepared and bursting with the finest ingredients of Thai food. The service is exceptional and highly commendable. They will start remembering your order on your second visit... wooow! The ambiance is casual while being comfortable. Some menu items we order on repeat include the beef Thai salad, chicken fried rice, mango sticky rice and Thai ho basil beef and drunken noodle. Go / order and enjoy!

Yelp
First time eating here, ordered chicken pad Thai hot to go, and only a 10 minute pick up time! When you first walk in, it's a cute little spot, lots of seating and it smells really good. Service was quick and friendly at the register. Pad Thai itself was delicious, a nice sized portion for the price, and the spice level was nicely done! Including fresh cabbage & carrots, which helped the spicyness subside but adds a nice crunch to your bite! I'm considering getting to go here again today Parking lot is in a strip mall, with very little parking/very busy, so just be mindful of that. Come and check this place out!

Yelp
Yesssss their lunch specials are such a great deal! $10-15! Service is very fast and portions are huge....excellent value. I've never cared for fried rice at most places I go to, but this place is the only location where id go to specifically for the thai fried rice! Soooo good!

Yelp
With a lot of Thai places to chose from, it's often hard to find a good place. We love this place! We eat Drunken noodles, Pad Thai, spring rolls, golden bags. We love it all, and great for take out. I believe they go off the Thai spice levels, because medium is a bit hot. We go mild and is still good. I wish they had something between mild and medium though. Only other critic I've had so far is adding a bit more shredded cabbage and carrots in the pad Thai. I love it. Great place to get Thai!

Yelp
The service was good, the lady who attended to us was very nice. The inside has a nice calmness to it, my son and I enjoyed it in there. The food, oh my gosh the food... the fried rice with shrimp, pineapple, and raisins was something to remember. I wish I had me another plate in front of me, so delicious! I highly recommend this place if you're in the mood for some bomb rice.

Yelp
A client recommended that while I am near Fort Walton Beach, Florida area oh, I had to try one of their great Thai restaurants. Honestly, I was surprised at the sheer number of how many Thai restaurants were in the area. I went to the place that he recommended, Thai Chef. It is a small location located at the end of a strip mall. Be advised that parking can be a problem and you might have to back out of the driveway as there is only one entrance in. Service was friendly and the food came out fast. I opted to go with the Drunken Noodles. Be advised that if you go for their lunch specials, it is very limited. Drunken Noodles were not on their lunch specials, but I went with it as the dinner entree instead. It came with a small salad I did no time flat my main course was brought out to me. For my protein I chose pork. I also asked for a Thai hot. It could have been hotter, but overall it was a good dish. If you are concerned about face masks during the covid-19 outbreak. Be advised that the servers are not wearing masks. All in all, this was not a bad place to stop for lunch. It was nothing amazing, but all in all I enjoyed this meal.

Yelp
One of my co-workers told me about this tiny gem. They are my goto for chicken fried rice and crab wontons. They are always consistent in flavor and portions, I won't go anywhere else for this dish..

Yelp
Best Thai restaurant in the area. Food is fresh and delicious and affordable. Lunch menu available. Clean and quite space. Closed to Hurlburt Field.

Yelp
Food is wonderful and fresh every time! The BEST drunken noodle I've had. You really can't go wrong here, everything taste great. Reasonable prices, location always clean and woman at counter sweet as can be. My picky adult son LOVES their chicken fried rice . My whole family are fans. I order to go mostly, always ready in 10 minutes

Yelp
My favorite Thai place in Ft Walton. They always get my order correct, it's day and consistent.

Yelp
First of all, It's best your staff not talk out loud in the dining area about a TOILET. Not a conversation I am interested in paying for with my food. Second of all, they serve creamy Italian dressing for their "salad". Chopped lettuce. Third, the chicken curry tasted off. It was thick like flour gravy. I asked if they add flour and the server stated no. I had one lick of the spring roll. It tasted like it was from a warehouse store. It tasted old. Fourth, the curry chicken was extremely salty and had a Mexican mushy taste to it with a small taste of coconut. Very odd. The green peppers in the curry were going bad and super mushy. The chicken was very moist. The server was very nice and was very considerate. I've only had Thai food in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Miami, and Atlanta. I've never been to Thai land. This is the third Thai restaurant I have tried in the area. This is the third Thai restaurant I have not enjoyed. I was so excited to be in this area and see so many Thai restaurants. Thai is my favorite. I will no longer visit any of the Thai restaurants in this area. I'm over it.

Yelp
It's better than I remembered back in the days when I used to go. It's very tasteful and freshly made and it's fragrance was very enticing. It was soooo delicious but it's ok the greasier side than I'd like. It's a very good place t go in the area that I've tried so far.

Yelp
We moved away from the area about 6 years ago but this was our go to spot for Thai food. Restaurant is always clean and service is always fast and friendly. So we came by on our last trip home about a week ago, after not having visited in 6 years, and they remembered us! How sweet lol. Pad Thai always comes out perfect for us here. It is not sickly sweet and has perfect amount of sour/sweet/salty. I ordered the drunken noodles which had the perfect amount of spice and basil. My son likes the golden bags, which is like a cream cheese wonton. Their fish cakes are really good too. Coconut ice cream is excellent. They were sadly out when we last visited but definitely recommend you order that. So happy to see that Thai Chef is still around in the area and can't wait to visit again when we come back!

Yelp
I am allergic to onions, I ordered #13 chicken larb & Thai beef with vegetables in oyster sauce. I again advised no onions at all. When I got home in Navarre both entrees were with onion. So I had to throw away all. I will never order from Thai Chef again,

Yelp
There are plenty of Thai spots in Fort Walton Beach but I decided to try out Thai Chef for convenience. The restaurant itself is fairly spacious and clean and the workers there are incredibly nice. I ordered the chicken pad thai lunch special and it took about 10 minutes to come out so the speed of service deserves a 5/5 in my book. However, the pad thai came out and looked extremely dry. Now I've had Pad Thai in many different restaurants but this is the first time that I've seen it so DRY. I figured maybe its a stronger pad thai sauce they make so they don't add as much... but I was wrong. The pad thai is just dry and does not have much of a taste to it. The noodles were cooked well enough but they were bland. There were no peanuts on the side but at least the cabbage was crunchy. Later on, I ordered a pad see-ew for carry out for dinner to give the restaurant a chance to redeem itself. But when it came out, I took a peek inside and once again, it looked very very dry. I took it home and tried it later that night and it was very underwhelming. The broccoli was soggy and the noodles were tasteless and bland. The only good part of the meal was that they gave quite a bit of meat. Long story short, I will not be coming back here.

Yelp
The best drunkin noodles in town by far! I've been to a lot of the Thai restaurants here in fortwalton and destin and this place has the best noodles. The service is always quick and friendly. The parking kinda sucks but other than that this place is awesome! Highly recommended!

Robert K.

Yelp
This has been my go-to Thai restaurant in the area for several years. The food is great and the owner is always very friendly. I'm moving from the area next month, and this will be one of the restaurants that I miss the most!

Yelp
We had chicken cashew nut and crispy duck for dinner. We got there early. There weren't many people. Service was quick and friendly. We enjoyed the food every much. The crispy duck is served with sweet and sour sauce and a bit spicy. It is a strong sauce and really tasty when you eat with rice. The duck meat is real crispy but not greasy. The chicken cashew nut is great too. With the strong sauce of crispy duck, the chicken still has it great flavor. We enjoyed our visit and food overall!

Yelp
The Good: The portions of food that they give you are insane. I had enough leftovers to munch on later that night and for lunch the next day. The Bad: Service was awful. We were checked on ONE time while we were there... I got the shrimp pad thai and the food was nothing I would rave about, by any means. Nothing stuck out to me that made me want to come back for more. Once I started eating it I realized the server never asked any of us how spicy we wanted our food, so it was all pretty bland. So, maybe the portions don't really matter when the food isn't all that great. The Ugly: No one could understand anything we were saying. We asked them if they had the Sweet Rice and Mango (dessert) and she kept saying, "Yeah.. No" so we said never mind. Then she brought us out a small square of the rice without the mango, which we politely declined. A few other times we had to repeat ourselves several times just to get our order placed correctly. All in all... I will definitely be venturing out when it comes to Thai food around here, especially since there's a spot on ever corner. It just wasn't worth coming back to...

Farah A.

Yelp
I ordered the green curry, Tom. Yum soup and basil stir fry. Everything tasted like green curry, including the Tom yum soup which was green and basically watered down green curry. The Thai basil wasn't much of any basil but more like the flavor of green curry as well. I have never had green Tom yum soup nor one that tasted like green curry before, it was far from anything that was enjoyable. I understand that the staff said they were trying to cut on costs but these three unique dishes should have had unique flavors. Not all tasted the same with the same flavoring. A Thai restaurant that does not keep any chili paste in stock due to cost of goods, so sad. I will not be returning here as I was extremely disappointed in all the flavors. I also had to get up and get my own water as it was too inconvenient for the staff to do so.

Yelp
I'm a regular here for lunch, great tasting Thai food! Basil or Combination fried rice are my favorites. The pad Thai is very flavorful, chicken is always juicy. Lunch specials come with a ginger salad that's good also. I'm always recommending this place to friends and co-workers!

Yelp
Tried most of the Thai restaurants in FWB... this is the best yet! Curries, pad thai and gyoza are delicious

Courtney Q.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place to anyone who is near by. Great service, delicious food (especially the drunken noodles and fried rice), and the food comes out fast.
google avatar

Yelp
Very disappointed!!! My husband ordered Teriyaki Chicken and Thai Wings. The chicken came out pink. The Wings came out plain with dipping sauce. I ordered Pad Thai. It came out mussy and supper sweet. Not recommended

Barry S.

Yelp
Very good food. Reasonable prices. Parking SUCKS! Ordered Pad Thai Chicken my go-to for rating Thai and it was good But not great. Place was busy and I had to wait for Parking.

Yelp
Anyone who's lived near a military base in probably familiar with the countless mediocre Thai restaurants sprinkled near base. Before you get too excited, keep in mind that they are mostly bad. These are not professional Thai chefs that came over by the masses to start Thai restaurants conveniently near military bases. These are just GI's gf/wives who are most likely not chefs. Just... women, who are Thai. So the food is... well, not great. Thai Chef is unfortunately, no exception to this rule. I had their pad thai for lunch and it was... well, not great. But edible, for the most part.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Thai Chef has the absolute best drunken noodles and chicken larb I have ever eaten. I would commute from Pensacola to Fort Walton just to have some of their delicious noodles and chicken. I have searched countless places to find a worthy adversary but none have come close.
google avatar

Bianca D.

Yelp
Place has been good to me since I moved right across the street lol. Very nice and clean place! I recommend chicken drunken noodles, medium spicy for the spicy lovers!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Thai food! Our go to place always. When my daughter comes home this is where we have to order from for her first meal! Never had a bad meal & the owners are great! HIGHLY recommend!!
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
This place has good pad Thai, and they made the food quick, they gave me chopsticks and forks cause I had none. They were big portions and only cost me 9$ a meal. They have lots of seating inside and in a good spot in the parking lot. I will be back when in the area to try more options. Good trail stop to remember though.
google avatar

Jay N.

Yelp
Me and my husband had the Shrimp Pad Thai , Shrimp fried rice, and spring rolls. We ordered it as takeout. Everything was fresh and the portions were huge for the price. I'd definitely recommend this location as it is a hidden gem.
google avatar

Kyong C.

Yelp
My favorite Thai restaurant! My son and I go every week, staff is super friendly and very accommodating especially to my picky eater (son). When my daughter returns from college she has to have drunken noodles, beef Thai salad and the Thai fried rice! We absolutely LOVE this restaurant! The best and authentic Thai food around this area! I recommend it to all my friends and now they love it too!

Ramon T.

Yelp
"Go to" Thai food in Fort Walton so far. Food was good and fairly fast. We all ordered chicken Phad Thai and some spring rolls.
google avatar

Karo K.

Yelp
Don t let the small crowded parking lot keep you from going here. I'd passed it by several times because it was at the end of a strip mall and I drive a big truck. Finally went during the slow hours and am happy I did. The food was very flavorful. The portions are good. If you dont see a serving size or an item ya want on the menu, ask. They may be able to accommodate ya. I had Coconut milk soup- Tom kha ghi and Thai mint beef salad. My son had Red Curry Chicken. All 3 dishes were very good. We will be back to try other menu items.
google avatar

April B.

Yelp
As always great service and great food. Love love this place! Always make a trip here for lunch or dinner when I come back to FWB!

Yelp
Thai chef is always good it is convenient to my home. you got to try to know what the taste like.
google avatar

Melissa W.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years! Love their beef and veggies, drunken noodle, and fried wontons. Plus, they are more presentable than other Thai restaurants in town, which I appreciate!
google avatar

Angi R.

Yelp
So I finally made it to Thai Chef for lunch and my friend and I both ordered lunch specials. There were several entrees to choose from (we got pad thai and thai curry) and rice, salad and a veggie roll were included for $6.95. We were really impressed that it only took about 5 min for our food to come out. The food is good but I still prefer some of the other Thai restaurants in town. Still, based on the speed and the price, this a great alternative to a fast food lunch and I definitely plan on going back.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
We had the Thai tea, chicken satay, beef pad se iew, and the duck noodle soup. All so so delicious this place is definitely a hidden gem. Must try Also, we went there during lunch and received a free side salad with our meal
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
Talk about service! Anything faster and you'd be at a McDonald's drive thru... ok, maybe that's a terrible comparison, but you get the point. Tucked away from the main drag, this quiet establishment packs away a different taste with a flavor to seek in the Fort Walton area. The tom kha gai was quite a delight, with a coconut base, hint of kaffir lime leaves and ginger, topped with scallions, and juicy bits of chicken to whet the appetite. To follow, the green curry, carried the heat from the first to the last bite, increasing slightly as you neared the end of your meal. The sweetness from the coconut milk, heat from the thai chillies, and crunchiness from the fresh slivers of bell peppers accented the tender slices of pork, making this quite a balanced dish. I have to warn you, when you tell the waitress to make it just a little less than thai hot, you'll be in for quite a sweat! By the end of the meal, I looked like I dipped my face in water... try not to wipe your face with the piece of the napkin used to wipte your lips... might be a toche painful.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING. Got the drunken noodles and I was not disappointed in the least. 10 stars if it were possible
google avatar

Liz H.

Yelp
Hands down this is the best Thai food in the entire area. We drive almost 30 minutes to get there and have never been disappointed even once. I cannot express enough how delicious the food is here. I would recommend Thai Chef to everyone! Mmmmm... just talking about it makes me want to order it for dinner!
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
My husband and i frequent this place every three to four weeks. This is our go to for a chill night at home. We love the drunken noodle and the garlic chicken. I especially love the egg rolls. I would give this place 5 stars if they were able to have mangoes for the mango sticky rice all the time, but understandably mango isnt always in season. Go and enjoy the food and fast service.
google avatar

Alexis S.

Yelp
Great food! You get so much for such little... The food tastes amazing, you leave with a full belly without even breaking the bank! Would definitely recommend to family and friends and will most definitely be going back sometime soon
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
If you are in the area this is a must!!! I crave this place every day!!! I seriously could eat lunch and dinner here and never be tired. Their chicken fried rice is the best ever. I love Chicken Panang it is hard to find someone that knows how to make it and they do. Their teriyaki chicken is amazing!! The staff is my favorite, you feel like family!!

Paige A.

Yelp
This is probably the worst Thai food i have ever had. I ordered chicken pad thai for lunch which tasted well... weird. I have had Pad Thai many times before and this was not good at all. Spring roll ok. My husband ordered a very average shrimp appetizer and the green curry which was very unremarkable. I left a full plate of food and they insisted we pay for it. Which we did of course. Don't waste your time here...I would give no stars if possible.
google avatar

Rachel Q.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best Thai restaurant in town. Always super fresh and very nice servers. All the food is made to order and you don't feel bad after eating it. Very fresh tasting I always take new thai eaters here for a great experience!

Yelp
We stopped in here while I was visiting from out of town. We wanted Thai, it was close to base, and had our three requirements: Thai tea, vegetarian options, and the option to take it to go. I ordered red curry tofu, she ordered pad Thai, and each of us got the small Thai tea (16oz). The good: Her pad Thai was DELICIOUS. Crazy good. I couldn't keep my fork off her plate- or rather, her styrofoam takeaway container. Not too sweet, with the perfect amount of spice, and a huge portion. The meh: IMO there was too much condensed milk/the Thai tea was slightly too sweet. Almost like someone who likes southern sweet tea made it, lol. It just wasn't what I'm accustomed to. It lacked that graham crackery taste that typically accompanies Thai tea. The ugly: my red curry tofu smelled like kitty litter and/or city water. This is not an exaggeration. It just smelled...expired. There was bamboo shoots GALORE! Basically no other vegetables and virtually no tofu. I can't even put into words my reaction upon bringing a forkful of it near my face. Just... How. I don't even know how these two meals came from the same kitchen. I couldn't eat it. This isn't meant to be harsh, just honest. Overall, the pad Thai was the saving grace, but I wouldn't come back.
