16 Casual Restaurants in South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation

"So it might not be your most formal night out, but the colorful, ornate Thai decor is downright charming in this comfortable South Beach restaurant. The pad thai is flavorful and heaping with a sweet tang and soft noodles, along with the pad kee mao. This is a good bet for a reasonably priced dinner with friends before you blow your cash on way too many vodka sodas at Do Not Sit On The Furniture." - alyson penn, ryan pfeffer

This is a hidden gem, but understand they run behind in service and its a small staff. When in doubt order Tom Yum chicken and a chicken Pad Thai. This is how real Thai food should taste. Soup was really flavorful with crunchy vegetables. For the owners: The ambience is ok, maybe dim the lights a bit. As for the service…..get help.

It was pretty busy when we went on a Saturday around 6pm. There were only 2 servers but they were pretty efficient and friendly. The food was good. The spring rolls were delicious. We had the Nam Sod, which is minced chicken with peanuts and ginger. It was soooo good and had great flavor. I had the Tom Yum soup which also had a nice flavor. We also ordered the pad Thai and volcano chicken. The pad Thai was good except some of the noodles seemed under cooked and hard. But it wasn’t a lot and I thought it was still good. I felt the volcano chicken could have been better. I was hoping for a more sweet chili flavor but this one seemed more like tomato sauce. It wasn’t bad, just not was I would have preferred. Over all it was still delicious.

Google
Best Thai restaurant in Jensen Beach Florida. You get generous sized portions and it comes with soup or salad. I prefer their wonton soup. The chicken pad Thai, the cashew chicken and the chicken curry are my favorites. I also love their fried banana dessert. It’s bananas fried in rice paper and drizzled with honey and sesame seeds. And to drink I prefer the cold Thai tea. it kind of tastes like an orange Creamsicle.

Google
Took 45 minutes to get soup and pad thai. There is only 1 woman taking orders and giving the check. There is a helper woman as well but she runs out the food. I am told it's always like this. The food was average at best. The place is dated and dirty. Very small inside. They move the dirty dishes off the customers table to any vacant table and it stays that way until you are completely surrounded by everyone's dirty dishes. Absolutely disgusting, I am also told it's always like that. I wouldn't go there again.

My husband and I have been wanting to try Thai House in Jensen Beach. We finally stopped by for dinner today. I had the stir fried basil chicken and my husband had the spicy basil fried rice with chicken. Both dishes were excellent, bursting with flavor. This is one of my favorite Thai food restaurants. The server was amazing.

Google
Went for the 1st time with a friend & ordered from the early dinning menu. I had the pad tai which was delicious, could have used more peanuts ,came with soup & 4 pastry bites. My friend ordered the shrimp curri & loved it! Service was spot on We highly recommend, this lovely neighborhood gem.

Google
The best Thai restaurant around! The food was so fresh and delicious. I recommend trying the dumplings and duck panang curry. The service was great and they make sure to ask the level of spice you prefer. Highly recommended for great Thai food!

Google
As a Thai-American, this place is mostly authentic. Service is VERY SLOW — but that’s because they only have 1 server taking orders and serving, 1 bussing tables, and probably 1 chef. It took like 20-25 minutes for our appetizers to come out, but thankfully was a bit faster for our entrees. The food was great, so def worth the wait. Tom Yum soup (shrimp): Best tom yum shrimp I've ever had - the chef used all the spice/herbs found in an authentic Tom Yum and each spoonful is bursting with flavor. You'll get hints of savory and spicy and a tang of lime. For only ~$4 for a small bowl, def worth to get while waiting for your entrees. AND you’ll get pretty large shrimp with your soup - they def don’t skimp out! Curry Puff ($6.95 for 5): not super authentic, their “dough” is wonton wrapper and not the puff pastry dough I was expecting. However, the filling was very nicely spiced and came with a sweet, lightly pickled cucumber sauce. Pad Thai ($12.95): automatically comes with both chicken AND shrimp. Ugh it’s so good. The chef knew what they were doing. Noodles were perfectly cook and saucy (no dry noodles here!) with bean sprouts and spring onions lightly cooked, still having its crunch. Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles, $11.95): also amazing. They were very generous with the basil, spice is adjustable from mild to Thai hot. Snapper filet with basil sauce ($16.95): this was my first time here so didn’t know if I should splurge with the full fish… definitely will next time! The dish came with two filets and a hefty serving of veggie stir fry and sauce over the crispy fish. Fried Banana with Ice Cream ($3.50): as if I wasn’t already bursting out of my jeans, this was the perfect way to end the meal. The warm banana enveloped in a crunchy spring roll wrap was paired so amazingly with cold vanilla ice cream. We only asked for 1 scoop of ice cream and it still came out with 3 scoops… and somehow we still managed to finished it all. Food was ABSOLUTELY delicious, but don’t come TOO hungry as it takes forever for the food to be ready (I may or may not have gotten hangry). However, for their prices I just can’t complain.

Yelp
Never failed--- everytime! I miss this place already-- The curried dishes and TOMKHA ( spice it up) have always been the best!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots!!! They are absolutely amazing and this place is always worth it!!! The waitresses are always super nice, helpful and get our order in quickly. The food is absolutely incredible. It can take some time to get the food to you. I always recommend not going "hangry". I love the fried rice or red curry, while my husband loves the whole fish meal!! Oh and the egg roles and coconut soup are beyond delicious as well! If you are a fan of Thai food, CHECK THEM OUT!! You won't regret it & the meal prices are reasonable!

Yelp
Went last night, great as always!! Of course we started with Mekrob, it's like the only place that makes this, we love it! I had vegetable cashew which had a really nice assortment of veggies & a good amount of cashews (can't have too many). I ordered from the early bird, we just made it! The salad was fresh. Husb had shrimp tempura, shrimps were a good size, as were the veggies of onion, sweet potato, broccoli overall was good a bit greasy tho. Place is comfy casual as is the service. We enjoy it here Sam and her team are great!

Yelp
A place where Five Stars for spiciness is like three, but Five Stars for my rating is like EIGHT! The friendly service, quality and freshness of the vegetables, excellent selection and flavors too. Everything was cooked to perfection and exactly like Thaicoon down on Northlake. More delicious and authentic than all the other Thai restaurants around.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the portions were generous. Peanut chicken in photo was my leftovers Highly recommend.

Yelp
We regularly return to the Thai House Restaurant located in an unpretentious strip mall (Jensen Beach Plaza) off Jensen Beach Boulevard. And sometimes choose take-out. Friendly owners and staff, fresh ingredients, inviting presentation, clean facility, and overall good value. Ordered the Beef Pad Thai, Tofu Pad Thai, Chicken Wonton Soup, and appetizer of spring rolls (2). Asahi dry Japanese beer and Singha Thai bottled lager beer are personal favorites. No draught beer. This might be seaonal-only promotion in the off season: Happy Hour specials served 5-6 pm weekdays. Dinner only starting at 5 pm, and closed Sunday. Lunch hours listed on Yelp are in error, and not sure why the owner doesn't fix. Repeat this Alert: This is a family restaurant, and service easily gets backed up. Patience is rewarded.

Yelp
Really great Thai food! Been here 4 times and it never disappoints.. Nice wine pour and great service. Ambiance is nothing fancy..

Lillian S.

Yelp
This restaurant has been a surprising treasure close to our home and we will go back again! Very friendly staff and great service along with very good food! Again, not fancy ambiance but clean and pleasant.

Yelp
My Thai Basil beef was delicious and flavorful. This restaurant is always busy and I see why. Servers are actually very nice and responsive. Food is yummy. My Tom Yung soup was amazing. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We love Thai House! From the owner/chef, to the waitress... everyone is great. Their food and flavors may be our favorite in town! We love that they make Me Krob- my most favorite Thai app. Their Me Krob is perfectly sticky and sweet, and has chicken and two large shrimp on top. I could eat an order all to myself, but since I'm a nice gal I share! Haha We have tried many things, all of which really have perfect flavor. Ginger sauce, Basil sauce... both perfect. I know it's basic, but they make some of the best Pad Thai on the planet. Even though Pad Thai is a pretty basic Thai order, it's hard to find one with the perfect flavor... but I have found it! Additionally, a bonus is that they serve Asahi beer (among other choices!), and have cold sake! We will continue to return to Thai House!

Yelp
This restaurant is very tasty BUT the time it takes to get seated and actually served is ridiculous. They need more help in the kitchen. Between the actual customers in the restaurant and the take-out orders it's a long process. If you go to this restaurant maybe have a snack first and be ready to spend a while there.

Yelp
Best Thai in town. Great service. Excellent portions and fantastic taste. Always love this as a takeout option.

Yelp
Always good consistent food! Wish they would open up again for lunch. We love the shrimp basil and the pad Thai.

Yelp
I had a reservation for 8 of us including a wheelchair and although there was no table ready when we arrived, it took only a few minutes for one to be put together for us. There were 2 servers and we were told, one chef in the kitchen so be prepared for waiting. One person in my group is quite impatient so it was a little hectic for a shirt while. But, that mood was quickly lifted when all the delicious food arrived. Tom yum soup, Bangkok wings, curry puffs, nam sod were excellent. 3 of us had crispy whole snapper each in different sauces all were good. Duck dish looked amazing. Pad pik king was thoroughly enjoyed. No one had room for dessert. We all loved the food and wanted to habe the chef come out to thank her but, they were all busy cleaning up. If you love Thai food.. go here! oh they have mild, medium, hot, and Thai hot. We had medium and hot but nothing seemed very spicy. I would go hotter next time

Yelp
Tried calling to place order to go 4 times. No one ever answered, was sent to vm each time, but was unable to even leave a message. Not just one call placed, 4 calls with NO ANSWER ! The food is great and service is good but, when no one answers the phone, that is extremely disappointing. As locals, we like to patronize local businesses. We hope this can be corrected.

Yelp
Best Thai food in Jensen, incredible service, family owned and very kind and attentive

Yelp
Delicious food. I have eaten at some top rated Thai food at various places in the U.S. and I can say this place serves some great Thai food. I have only ordered to go as most times I order they are busy inside the restaurant (a good sign). Excellent pad Thai and basil fried rice. One of my favorite spots to eat.

Wes S.

Yelp
Best Thai food I've ever had in my life! I generally get beef pad Thai or Penang curry. This place gets very busy but is well worth the wait and take out is a great option. Prices are fair and portions are very large. The staff is very friendly and kind. The restaurant is older but clean and quiet.

Yelp
I would guess this place has a local following. It was our first time. Clean, cute place with the usual Thai decor. On arrival, the restaurant did not appear super busy, yet we were left standing at the door waiting to be seated. There is only one table busser and one server. There were 3 empty tables which we had to wait for the busser to clean. Once seated, the busser came by to ask what we wanted to drink. When she brought our drinks, we were told she did not take food orders and we had to wait for the server. Exactly 29 minutes after being seated, our server came over to take our order. We told her our appetizer and were informed that we should give her our full order. Our dumplings (4 per order) were filled with, I'm guessing chicken. There is no description on the menu of its contents. The filling tasted like old, left over chicken. Our chicken wings were over fried and one still pink raw on the inside. Our server, passing our table, asked how everything was. As we started to tell her, she had already moved on, not waiting or even wanting a response to her question. We called her over and asked that the wings be taken off the bill. She answered with, "ok" and removed the plate from the table. Entrees were a chicken and shrimp dish perfectly spiced and a shrimp pad Thai which was good but overly gummy. The server, although has been complimented in many reviews on this site, we found her abrupt, not very friendly and definitely doing nothing to make you have a pleasant experience. She hand writes the bill. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. It's poorly staffed and patrons are not made to feel welcomed or appreciated.

Yelp
Really good, they have lots of gluten free options. The staff is nice here, they're a busy spot so keep that in mind especially if you're wanting to order for pick up at a certain time. Very accommodating to my gluten allergy and pretty much said they could make any item on the menu gf upon request. It smells amazing every time I walk in there, if it's close to closing and you want take out just call and ask because they're usually packed at closing and still willing to do orders!
google avatar

Yelp
Best I've had to date.. fresh.. perfect blend of flavor.. the sauce was perfect.. light.. succulence. What a gem for Thai. JD

Yelp
Absolutely LOVE this restaurant. We love their whole fried snapper. It's absolutely delicious!
google avatar

Kelsi V.

Yelp
Very good food! Very fresh ingredients, nice flavor in all sauces, and they use a lot of veggies. I really enjoy the stir fry chicken with ginger sauce and curries. The dumplings are good & even pad Thai is good which I usually Im not a big fan of. You can also get all dishes with the level spice you prefer which is nice! To go service is good. Inside is not very big but there is seating available for dine in. The fried banana dessert is also very good!

Yelp
I have been going here once a week for the past 12 years. It is the most amazing Thai I've ever had. I have eaten Thai food all over the world. This tops all of them. It is a small, family run business and the food and service is outstanding. The whole snapper is a must, the sizzling platter with beef and chicken is probably my favorite. My wife's favorite is the Thai basil. Tom kha soup!! You can't go wrong with anything you order. Moving overseas, will definitely have withdrawals from this place. Thank you!!

Torrance Q.

Yelp
One of the best Thai restaurants I have ever had!. The Tom yum soup was great I ordered one to go! I'm definitely going every time I get a chance to go to my hometown
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
Best Pad Thai I've ever had and every other fish I've tried has been great. My husband and I typically order takeout. When we do eat in house, the service is a little on the slower side but it's worth it for how good the food is.
google avatar

Ash O.

Yelp
So yummy, very fast service, reasonable prices . Would definitely recommend for visitors and locals!

Scott M.

Yelp
After finally being seated,we waited several minutes to be acknowledged.Several more minutes ,we got our drinks without the 1 server noticing us.After 30 minutes with no service,we left. How does a restaurant stay in business with this nonsense. We will not be back
google avatar

Deborah L.

Yelp
My husband and I are so happy we finally found a great Thai place. All the ingredients taste fresh and cooked to perfection. I had the mixed vegetable stir fry with chicken and my husband had the shrimp stir fry.

Aristiano M.

Yelp
Just moved up here from Fort Lauderdale seeking good Thai food. Guess I don't have to look anymore bc this food was amazing. Got the fried rice personally but tried some of the other food and I gotta say it was so good. Steak melts in your mouth and you just can't seem to put the fork down lol.
google avatar

Tanya M.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious never fails. Thai house is the best inauthentic Thai. Amazing lunch specials. Great atmosphere and friendly family business EAT LOCAL and eat at Thai House, you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Sushma P.

Yelp
There was 60-70 mins wait after I ordered the food for take out and I was little hesistant as I wasn't sure if its worth. But, no complaints at all and food taste was totally worth it. It was on time, person taking my order gave me heads up about long wait, quality of food was great and food was very tasty .

Shari W.

Yelp
The food is flavorful and beyond amazing. The service stinks! Try to overlook the service and you will enjoy.
google avatar

JL S.

Yelp
Yummy curries! I had the chicken Panang curry. It was devine, fabulous and wonderfully satisfying. Lots of veg, sauce was spot on and lots of chicken, asked for it medium spicy edging on hot and it was perfect. Partner had red curry beef and he was wild about it. "Superb!" he said! Similar taste but traditional Panang has a delicious 'peanutty' favor in addition to the curry taste and this one was very good. Really great service as well. The inside of the restaurant isn't the most exciting or special, but the food we tried? DELICIOUS INDEED. PS Liked the presentation of our curries in almost 'boats'. Also nice blue 'china' plates with artfully folded navy blue napkins to greet you as you sit down. Nicely done Thai House! Mmm mmm good!

Brandon M.

Yelp
This is the best Thai food Ive had in the states. Very authentic with love in the kitchen. Everthing made fresh including the spices. Whole young coconut, snapper or Pad Thai are my favorites.
google avatar

Marie P.

Yelp
I had the Spicy Fish and it was crisp and flaky with all the traditional thai vegetables and a hot succulent sauce. The restaurant is comfortable and clean and wait staff most helpful.. I will be back to sample other offerings Try it..you won't be disappointed !

Marybeth W.

Yelp
The best Thai food around!! Family owned, fresh food made to order! Very clean, friendly family, love it

Yelp
Amazing service, great atmosphere. Server was POLITE, ATTENTIVE, AND QUICK. Honestly just became my new favorite Thai place in the area. I would give it 6/5 if I could.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Jensen !! The sweet and sour stir fry with shrimp is my go to!

Yelp
Okay. This is my favorite Thai restaurant. Authentic Thai food, family owned restaurant, exceptional food. Eat here all the time, have tried a variety of different dishes they are all excellent. They don't have sushi but the meals are so good and great portions that you don't need it. One of my favorite restaurants.

Mary J.

Yelp
Excellent! The food is delicious and authentic. The service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is cozy with touches of Thailand. This family business has been a gem in Jensen Beach for many years. It's definitely the best Thai restaurant in the area.

Yelp
Restaurant Updates since Feb 2015: 1) Do not order items from their online menu. It is incorrect. 2) They no longer serve beef satay, only pork satay (even though the printed menu says choice of beef or pork). 3) Look at my pictures for this restaurant, I have attached pages of the take out menu items. One of the things that I noticed about Thai restaurants, is that the Thai people are very nice people! I had been craving for some good Thai curry and for awhile I had been hearing good things about the Thai House on Jensen Beach Blvd. It was my first time dining here. We ordered the Tom Yum, Tom Kha soups which were both delicious and well flavored. A couple appetizers of the steamed chicken dumplings and they were also very good. My mild red curry with beef was delicious and filled up on the soft, white Jasmine rice. The foods were well presented with friendly, caring staff. The owner/chef came out of the kitchen to greet us and ask how we liked our meals. I find this type of action to be professional and shows that the owner cares about doing better. Other than the good authentic Thai food, the restrooms are right by the front door in the hallway. Clean and tidy. The restaurant looks small and cozy. There is a private room to host birthday parties. The young female server is a little soft spoken but I wasn't expecting a lot from her. She was still accommodating and sweet. Overall, good first time experience. Now I know where to get good Thai food. If you live south of Jensen Beach Blvd, another good Thai food restaurant that I would recommend is called Basil Thai by Downtown Stuart close to the Roosevelt Bridge. The only thing is that the parking is minimal but the owners there are very sweet people, too.

Yelp
Family run restaurant with amazing food. This is one of the few restaurants in the area open on Mondays. This is a favorite place for my family to order takeout.
google avatar

Tsubaki N.

Yelp
I went here only because my friends invited me but this is not my choice for thai food. There was only what looked like 2 people working so food took forever. When I finally got my shrimp pad thai it was sweet and I bit into some egg shells. They shrimp tasted ok but I could tell it been sitting in a freezer for a while. Some of the other tables looked like they had better food. I might go back to try something else but for now it wasnt the greatest thai food ive had.
google avatar

Joyce A.

Yelp
Best Tom Kha soup I've ever had, I keep having cravings for it. I've been here a few times, every dish I've had this far has been delicious! My parents regularly come for birthdays and such, last time it was my dad's birthday and we had mentioned it and they brought out little fried bananas as a dessert for him! The staff is really nice and down to earth, the food isn't overly priced. Overall a great Thai restaurant.
google avatar

Rusty S.

Yelp
Absolutely f#$!%$ horrible...sat for an hour and 20 minutes waiting for food....have walked out of nicer places than this in half the time, was trapped with friends who insisted it would be worth it...yeah, NO.....never never come here , they do not respect their customers.

John H.

Yelp
Good food and excellent service. Had basil fried rice and panang curry. Offered in "to order" levels of spicy. Worth stopping in for lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Brooke W.

Yelp
The only reason the rating is so low is that it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. The food was fantastic. I just wish the wait wasn't so long.
