Google
We stumbled upon Thai Juan On while looking for lunch in San Juan Capistrano, and I'm so glad we did! The menu caught our attention right away with its fun and creative dish names like Holy Cow, Crying Tiger, Mermaid's Dowery, and Kiss Me Not -- love the personality! The inside of the restaurant is striking -- everything is red, from the walls to the red chairs, and it totally works! It feels bold and energetic. I especially loved the wine wall, which added a touch of elegance and charm to the space. Food was delicious, I had the spicy chicken with eggplant. Service was friendly, and the whole experience was memorable. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes off that quirky, intriguing menu!

Google
I so want to like this place because it had such a creative name for a restaurant and interesting menu. The taste of the food came a little short. The food was surprisingly bland. I tried to put more spices on it, but it turned out just being average.

Google
I love this place. The food is consistently good amd the service is also very good Not to mention great cocktails! The prices haven't been inflated like others and I especially enjoy the lunch menu which includes cheese rangoons, soup and salad plus a generous entree! Enjoy

One of my favorite neighborhood restaurants that has been around a very long time. The ambiance is like Thailand town at night - dark with warm lighting. Oldies but goody with full bar that’s pretty much like Chiang Mai’s bars. The food never disappoints. I brought people here and the food was crowd pleaser. The service is super efficient. The location is just perfect for a meeting point from South OC and North OC. It is right off the highways I5/405 and there are many places to visit around the area - antique shopping, the missions, cinema, music festival by the beach, Dana Point harbor …

Google
Ordered Wonton soup to go and was very disappointed at the size of the container for $12. Only had 2 wontons, 2 shrimp and mostly cabbage with the broth. She was surprised I mentioned the size of this serving when she gave it to me. What a terrible attitude. Then they wanted a tip. Really?? I picked it up, no tables to set, what tip??

Google
Delicious lunch food. Very good prices We got Green jungle and Glory of love:))

Google
This place is amazing! I always get the lunch specials, but I still need to try the dinner items. The Minty Pork is the best bang for your buck. Lots of delicious meat in this dish. The place is dog-friendly too, which is a nice plus. Seating outside is very limited but lots of seating inside. The top dish is the Shrimpy meal. The bottom is the Minty Pork with soup, salad, and wontons it comes with.

Google
Thai Juan On has the most amazing food in the entire state of California! Though I have tried a lot of Thai restaurants, I literally can’t bring myself to try another one after having found this place! Their dishes are each unique in their own way and just about everything I’ve had has been amazing! A couple of my favorites which I highly recommend are Crying Tiger and Golden Thread. If you follow my advice and try this place you won’t go to another Thai restaurant after!

Yelp
If you're craving amazing Thai food, this is the place to go. I've been coming here with my family since I was a kid, and it's still a favorite. The entire menu is packed with flavor, and the staff is always welcoming and attentive. There's a bar on one side, don't miss the Thai One On, and a cozy restaurant on the other, where the drunken noodles and curry are must-tries. Oh and the coconut soup is out of this world as well!

Yelp
Great ambience and service. Lunch menu is a good deal as the entree comes with soup and salad. I ordered the green curry with chicken and it was good but not great. My husband wasn't impressed with his crying tiger dish. The salad spring rolls appetizer were very bland. Not sure I'd return.

Yelp
If you like Thai food you will love Thai Juan on. The food is fresh and flavorful, the pad thai was great, the yellow curry was creamy with just the right kick. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If your not sure what to order ask for your waiter for suggestions the wonton soup was also a big hit at are table we went at lunch and the serve you a salad and fried wontons which we all loved. The atmosphere was very nice and I can only imagine what fun would be had at dinner with drinks afterwards. I can't wait to go again I have been eating Thai food for 30 years with what we had at lunch I would say by far the best we have had. I am sorry I didn't take picture to show the platting and the freshness of the ingredients.

Yelp
Ordered a few dishes to share with colleagues for lunch at my firm. We shared the foods, so I tried them all. My colleagues and I weren't fans of any of the dishes. They weren't bad though. Sadly, we decided not to try Thai Juan On again.

Yelp
I was sold on trying "Thai Juan On" simply by the name (cracked me up!) and definitely glad I did based on the food!! The service was quick and efficient, our waitress was very kind and attentive, and the food was delicious, especially with the addition of some heat (hot sauce/red pepper)! I tried the Panang Curry (chicken) and the Pad Thai (chicken) - both were very good and decent portions! The rice noodles were cooked really well as well as the rice that came with the curry. The waitress was very accommodating for our gluten-free table and we got a delicious broth/soup in Lieu of a wonton, which was excellent!! we arrived around 1:40pm with the restaurant closing at 2:30pm for their midday close it was very quiet Inside (we were the only table likely due to our time of arrival). * don't worry we were gone at 2:25pm!! Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
Tasty, fresh food, great prices and great personable service. I had the Yankee Noodle Dandy and it was excellent. The wantons are the best wantons I've had. The servers are really friendly and funny. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Easily some of the best Thai food I've had, service is really good and everyone is so nice!! Love it here! Second time coming and I'll be back!

Yelp
I like the green jungle curry - I love the green tiger sauce but they up charge for everything here. They also pay way more attention to the people at the bar rather than the dining room. The food is average and personally I think it's over priced especially for the small portion size. Plus though they don't use a ton of oil like at other places so that is better than most!

Yelp
I thought I did not like Thai food until I went to Thai Juan On. Now I am hooked. The vibe is warm, welcoming, and fun. The bartenders/waiters give great customer service and make great drinks. The food is flavorful and the portions are great. Great happy hour, especially on Thursdays when their appetizers are on happy hour prices. Try the slow-cooked ribs, they are delicious. Toddie and Kean will make you feel like family as they welcome you with a smile. This place never disappoints!!

Yelp
Came here this week for a To Go order. I have to agree with Teresa T.'s experience a few months ago. If you are a regular, then you feel the love. There was a family dining in and the hostess spent a lot of time chatting with them. If you are a first timer then prepare to feel like a loser. We live here in SJC and my husband travels a lot for work. So I've been exploring some places around our neighborhood solo. Mostly I order To Go since I'm not quite brave enough to eat alone yet. Some places are very kind when you order To Go and motion to a nearby empty table to wait, offer a water. This place I felt rushed to order "you don't know what you want?" It was a little dark and I couldn't read the menu without my readers so I just ordered some old favorites. After I paid, the sense was that I should leave and come back in 15 minutes. I asked if I could wait inside and sat on a bench near the front door. Food came out quickly and I headed home. Shrimp pad thai - pretty good Chicken Satay - also pretty good, comes with peanut sauce and cucumber relish Tom kha gai soup - a lot of chicken but missing the mushrooms and lemon grass Part of me wants to go back repeatedly and become a regular but the bigger part of me wants to find another Thai place where they are kind from the get go.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. The ambience of the place was also lovely and we enjoyed the music, 70s classics, so much while we enjoyed our lunch. We will definitely come again!

Yelp
One of our favorites in San Juan Capistrano we go every chance we get but always forget they aren't open on Wednesday. The cocktails and food is absolutely amazing along with the service. We will be celebrating my daughter's rehearsal dinner there next week and can't wait to go eat their delicious food.

Yelp
This place exists because there in no competition in the area to make it better. There is no way this is authentic Thai food... the yellow curry was like a mustard paste thickness completely wrong on so many levels and the price point is off by $5 on each plate ... undercooked Pad Thai noodle no water even when requested ... no way again ... keep driving!
google avatar

Yelp
I enjoyed this place. We trained it since we like Thai This in Dana Point. This place is probably a 4.5 star. We came in for a late Sunday lunch. I got the shrimp with vegetable lunch special and my wife got the chicken satay. The shrimp with vegetable were favorable and had some broth like suave with it. I liked it versus a dry stir fry. It came with soup, salad and two cheese wontons. The satay was accompanied with cucumbers and peanut sauce. Very flavorful. It also has a full bar.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Too many choices on the menu. If the restaurant would like I can help them create a new menu.

Christopher D.

Yelp
No flavor or spice....not sure if they had a bad night....everyone I talked to said it was a great spot....not that night
google avatar

Teresa T.

Yelp
Forgettable food. And even more Forgettable service. And that's what I felt like- they forgot me. I was dining alone but that doesn't my mean I want to be left alone or I am unsocial. I just moved here. Sat next a lively group of obvious locals who were getting a lot of attention from the staff. So I know they're capable of good service. Now, what did I eat? I forgot.
google avatar

Frank S.

Yelp
The food was good. We both ordered the Pad Thai. The ambiance is better than a hole-in-the-wall and appeared to be okay, but we ordered takeout. Here's what we didn't like... The servings were very small, especially for the price. The small container in the photo is $17 without tax and tip. It's California, I get things are more expensive, but there is absolutely no value here. The receptionist was not nice, not friendly and seemed annoyed to have to be at work and serve customers. If you're angry find something to do that makes you happy. Then, why do you ask for a tip on takeout if you don't help prepare the food for takeout service? No napkins, no chop sticks, no utensils, no sauces. Time, it took 30 minutes for our order. There were three customer tables in your restaurant and two already had food. Did you forget the recipe? We were disappointed with our overall experience at this restaurant.

Yelp
Not really "gluten free"!!! I know some people think it's not a big deal about gluten but if you're allergic to gluten don't eat here. Got so sick I was puking for 2 hours. Sick

Yelp
Creative name: Thai Juan On in the city of San JUAN Capistrano. Came here to celebrate a friend's bday. Party of 6. We were a festive group with cake, balloons, and bday favors adorning the table. We are locals in the area. Came mid week for their Thirsty Thursday Special! Most of their appetizers are 1/2 off plus 2 bucks off their drinks. Except for #7, #13,#14, and #94. Currently looking at my receipt; next day! They didn't half off my appetizers! Tried calling no answer this morning. Will try to resolve it with them but right now it looks like there is an over charge of 15 bucks! CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!!!! Called 2x again and spoke with Sun. She told me to call back when the manager gets in. So I called again and spoke with "Navitango." He is aware and said he will put 14.41 credit back to my card. That's great! The Thai-tini was a great drink! It was basically Thai Tea and they added coconut rum. It was ready good! For appetizers: Spring Roll/Poor Pia Tod was a crunchy egg roll with glass noodles inside! That was delicious! Hand Roll Salad- soft egg roll covered in a peanut sauce. Golden Thaiangle- it was like Thai quesadilla. Crunchy and really good. For the main dish: I had their Crying Tiger. Meat was tender. Easy to eat. Nice green dipping sauce. I wish I had a side of papaya salad or something. It needed more greens on the side So the food is good! Large servings on the main dishes. Appetizers are typical size. Half off but it's a very small portion. The place looks fun. The bar is happening on a Thursday night. Chefs in the back were loud to the point they sound like they were fighting. Service.... Ha! It was horrible. Our waiter was nice but it looked like he was the only one there for everyone this evening. I've read in other reviews that if you are not a regular, you will be ignored. There were definitely regulars this evening that were getting the extra attention and side hugs from the table. How we were ignored: - we asked for water a handful of times and not till the end of dinner we finally got it. -we were barely asked how we were doing during dinner and if we needed anything else. -we just had to keep asking for things including extra silverware at the beginning. We had a party of 6 and they only had 5 silverware settings. -one of our friends did accidentally spill her water... We did kindly asked if we can move to the other table. And we were given a sour face (by one of the female manager) with a hard no because "there was another reservation for that table." Well ... That other reservation never showed up. We were there near closing! Ha! And they also clean with the purple stuff Fabulouso. I think that's how Juan got there. The smell of the cleaner just throws me off. Too strong to have for a restaurant. Also usually MOST Thai restaurants have nice customer service like making sure everyone is taken care of and and a various chili sauce can be requested. It was even pulling arms and legs asking for simple siracha here. So.... I can also count nice things that they did for us: -It was nice of them to give us a candle! -And it was really nice of them to give us a cake cutter. - And extra plates and fork for the cake that we brought with us for the birthday girl. Good food just don't expect the best service here unless your are a regular. $250 bucks was spent plus a good amount of tip (50bucks) was still given and it was because we know the pandemic took a hit on a lot of restaurants.

Dorris T.

Yelp
Had great Thai food at Thai Juan On. The food is fresh and we ordered the pad Thai with chicken and the Dan Dan noodles. Then they gave us a salad and soup and both looked and tasted so fresh. The service was wonderful and we just lived the taste of our dishes. I also ordered extra Thai Basil. The inside is a little dated but the food is fantastic.
google avatar

Melanie F.

Yelp
We love this place. Definitely a locals spot but hands down the best, freshest drunken noodle around. Service is always amazing and the timing of your courses is perfect. It only took 2 visits until we were "regulars" and the servers knew our food and drink orders. Highly recommend this spot for lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Elly R.

Yelp
The food was incredibly overpriced for such a small portion. The crispy cream cheese wontons were very bland. The beef panang curry was decent but barely had any beef. If i would have paid half the price i did for this then I may have given it another star, but overall disappointing.
google avatar

Lori F.

Yelp
The best authentic Thai food I have had here in this community! You should give it a try, you won't be disappointed
google avatar

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Delicious. Our favorite Thai in all of the OC. Great kitchen. Inviting space. Friendly staff. Our three year old says, "this place make me happy". I agree.

L. S.

Yelp
Delish take out! I need to go and try in person next time. Pad see ew was my favorite dish!
google avatar

Lillia W.

Yelp
I only ever order Pad Thai at Thai restaurants and this was honestly one of the worst ones I've ever had. It was super salty and just overall unappetizing. The Thai tea tasted old/stale too. The only saving grace was the avocado cream cheese wontons that come with the salad. Place was cute, server was nice. But the food isn't worth coming back for.
google avatar

Tru-L H.

Yelp
The food was warm and we finished it! Subpar when it comes to Thai Food. I ordered to-go and was quoted 45 minutes for pick-up and it was ready in 15 minutes, which would be nice in person, but I didn't leave my house yet. The Tom Kha soup's broth was tasty but it was a sea of cabbage in the bowl. We also got the Pad Thai(they call it Phat Thai) which came with shrimp. The shrimps tasted like they were boiled from frozen then added to the finished dish after. The portion size was surprisingly very small for the price being so big. Left hungry and dissatisfied.

David R.

Yelp
Terrible If you like Thai food avoid this place like the plague. Yellow curry was the worst I've had and my wife's sweet and sour pork was mostly missing the pork

Angela N.

Yelp
Unfortunately the food was quite bad, soggy rice, over-cooked crying tiger meat, no veggies with it, the yellow curry tasted like mustard and was not even served hot. Just super disappointed in this restaurant. Maybe they had an off day, hopefully that's all it was. I just feel bummed going in excited to eat good curry and leaving disappointed.

Ryan C.

Yelp
Went here 10 min to close and they still sat 8 of us!! Food was AMAZING ... I would not usually go to a Thai place.. if a friend said hey let's do this I would and that's what took us there last night and frankly i was so surprised... it was so so good... the menu is hilarious and the food was amazing.... Just go here and have faith cause it worked out for us!

Yelp
1st visit to this place- Insanely DELICIOUS & incredibly warm & quick service with extremely FRESH food!! Definitely will be returning !!
google avatar

Charlotte A.

Yelp
Food is always delicious and the service is amazing!! My favorite is the soy cowboy steak and the drunken noodles!
google avatar

Steve G.

Yelp
By far the best Thai food I have found. Now I am not an expert at Thai cuisine neither having been to Thailand nor being from Thailand myself. But by looking at the color of the cuisine, the smell of the spices, the preparation of the meat and the overall taste, I can confidently say that I have no clue if this authentic because as I said, I am not an expert in Thai cuisine. What I can say is that their Yellow Curry chicken is my favorite that I have found. Their cream cheese and avocado wonton are a family favorite. Their lunch specials are perfectly portioned. I have been coming here for over 10 years and the place deserves a Michelin Star for consistency.
google avatar

Suanne L.

Yelp
My food was delicious and they gave me a lot of it which I love. Located out in that area by Walmart across from Walmart.
google avatar

Susan W.

Yelp
Love this place, their Thai food is great. Green Curry, pad Thai, fried rice..honestly anything you order is amazing. Delivery is also super fast. Also the spring rolls are very tasty!
google avatar

Ali R.

Yelp
Frankly the worst Thai food I ever had. No taste or flavor. If you need something in your stomach then go for it. It's not Thai. The good reviews have to be fake or don't know what they're eating.
google avatar

A B.

Yelp
We stopped because of the name. I judge a Thai restaurant on its yellow Curry. It was super wonderful. Served on a flat plate, and visibly thick with lots of chicken and potatoes. The flavor was just excellent, and very satisfying. And the service was amazingly fast. Can't wait to be back...
google avatar

Bri A.

Yelp
Thee best Thai food!!! You literally cannot pick a bad option! Everything is delicious! And Toddy is the best bartender! Eat on the bar side! Enjoy

Benjamin K.

Yelp
Worst red curry I've had. Yellow curry was really disappointing as well. Not sure how to describe what twist they added to conventional Thai good, but it's a miss

Jim G.

Yelp
This is a long time locals place that is relatively unknown outside SJC. All the dishes that ive had are awesome and the service has always been good. I like the ambiance - they have a separate bar, but the dining room is dark and quiet for a private dinner. I have not found better Thai food in OC! This is my new go to place for a great meal when I cant decide what I am hungry for. I will definitely be back - often!
google avatar

Rocky N.

Yelp
So so so so amazingly good! Prik King & Hot and Sour soup was so delicious and borderline medicinal! Thanks for being the best meal I have had in months.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place years ago when the bbq place we were headed to was too packed. So glad I did. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. They were able to accommodate our very large party, reservations are highly recommended if you do have a large party.

Mark J.

Yelp
New place for us. Pleasantly pleased. We had a large group (12) and everyone had only great comments. Will be going back soon!
google avatar

Jesika K.

Yelp
Picked up some togo food and the flavors were amazing. The decor is so cute, I definitely want to go back and check it out under normal operations. Pad Thai, Chicken Satay and Mango with Sticky Rice. Super fresh and flavorful. The Mango with Sticky rice is the best I have had in a long while!

Blake W.

Yelp
I went here today to have lunch. The lady said to set wherever as I was setting down she says that's not a good spot. Sit here instead and placed me in a corner next to what looked to be wheelchairs and walkers for a group that was already there. No big deal right like I really wasn't upset then I tried to order the exact same thing that I've ordered there before and she says that it's not available and they don't do that anymore and they never have done that before, she says pick something else and at that point I was really kind of confused so I decided that I would leave and she looked at me like I was crazy and then as I was walking out, she says to me I hope to not see you again pretty weird I really don't understand as I've been there several times and have had great experiences before

Dee T.

Yelp
I ordered delivery while visiting my mother in San Juan Capistrano. While the delivery was fine and food good, while I was eating it, my left side of my lower lip and face went numb. It was so strange and never happened to me before. I was scared and looked it up and believe it was because of MSG. It happened while I was eating their food. I drank lots of water as suggested and it subsided. My order was a chicken vegetable dish with peanut sauce (maybe the sauce has MSG?). I reached out to the restaurant and asked them if they use MSG with no response. I had left overs and through them away as this was frightening and I would never order from there again. I'm still noticing a weird sensation in my lower left lip. It's been over a week.

Yelp
DURING COVID REVIEW: This restaurant is open for DINE IN during this quarantine time. Before I review the food and service, I wanted to touch first on their social distancing and sanitizing protocol. Every employee was wearing a mask the entire time and gloves. Every table is sanitized before and after usage and they have hand sanitizer and masks available right at the main entrance. Public restroom is available for use and every other table was blocked off for social distancing procedures. I'm giving this restaurant 4 stars because their service was amazing and their food was pretty good! My mom and I were just exploring San Juan Capistrano when we started craving Thai food. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. So glad we did!! We ordered their - Crunchy egg rolls - Tom Kha - Pad Thai with beef - Panang Curry with chicken - Mango sticky rice &&& of course, Thai tea! The food was amazing, the food came out fresh, hot and quickly and we were never left unattended for too long. We were also given salads before our order came out which was really good and nice. Bathrooms were very clean, and the restaurant was spotless. Family friendly for sure! I would recommend anyone who's craving Thai in the area to drop by!!
