Where to Eat Nashville’s Best Thai Food | Eater Nashville

"Located at the South Nashville juncture of the Wedgewood-Houston, Melrose, and Radnor neighborhoods, Thai Kitchen recently modernized its interior with casuallighting and simple wooden tables. They serve some of the best crispy basil chicken in town and a mouth-watering Larb gai (ground chicken salad)." - Clara Wang

We were told this was the most authentic Thai food in the area. The food was good. The spices were good. We went during a slow time of day. The only server was really nice. There was also one cook. The food came out really fast, hot and fresh. We wanted to try more items, but we got full. So we'll have to go back. 😊

Google
Some of the better Thai I have had in Nashville. I strongly recommend the Thai Kitchen Dick. It was quite unique and absolutely delicious. I almost hesitated to upload the picture because it doesn't look like it tastes as good as it does. Tasted like an old Thai grandma made it for me or something. I will absolutely be back and prices are not bad for Nashville in 2025.

Owner is super friendly and kind. Food is delicious and is worth the wait - definitely authentic taste of Thai cuisine. Will be coming back many times in the future that’s for sure!

Google
This place is very close to my work, and I come here often. The staff is so friendly, and I can tell they already know their regulars' orders. There are plenty of vegan options; I've had curries, pad Thai (with no egg), spring rolls, and even sesame tofu.

Google
Food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the dumplings, chicken satay, prime minister chicken and the Thai iced tea. Definitely very good for the cost (super cheap and huge portions too!), and 100% outranks other Thai places in the area. Leena, the person who served us and took our order, was so kind and helpful. Will eat here again!

Google
We got Tom Kha shrimp, duck curry, and Laos-style papaya salad. We both loved our dishes, and the duck curry was one of the best curry dishes I’ve had recently. The Laos-style papaya salad was really fishy—maybe next time we’ll try the Thai style instead. I also liked the spice sides they brought to the table. It’s a very stylish and clean restaurant.

Thai Kitchen is a true hidden gem with deep roots in the community. This place has been around for a long time, and for good reason—the food is absolutely amazing! Authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with love. As someone who lives in Thailand, I can confidently say this is the real deal. I was thrilled to get to speak with the owner and their daughter and hear about the history behind the restaurant—it was such a meaningful connection. I genuinely believe in this place and want to see it grow and thrive in new ways. With a few modern updates and the right people in place, I know Thai Kitchen could step into a whole new level of excellence. The atmosphere and service have so much potential to match the high quality of their menu, and I’m excited to see them expand and continue the legacy they’ve built. If you haven’t been in a while—go support them! This is the kind of place worth keeping around for generations to come.

Google
This place is an absolute GEM. Authentic homestyle Thai food, just like my Thai family members make!!! And the coconut soup is creamy and hearty, not the too-thin watery stuff skimmed off the top likeso many restaurants offer, and not with extra sugar. If you like it hot, just ask. So comforting to find this place when I'm on a business trip. What a blessing. Kab!!!

Yelp
This place has been here for over 20 years serving 100 Oak area, We stop by for lunch, craving papaya salad and spicy sausage plus some roasted duck, Foods were great and service was excellent. The place is nice and clean inside. Recommend if you're nearby and craving some Asian foods.

Gale S.

Yelp
The food is authentic, spicy and delicious. The owner is a shy gracious man, very respectful. We will definitely come back.

Yelp
Food was mediocre! I had Vegetable Pad Thai & Thai Kitchen fried rice, more rice & noodles, not much veggies. My order was wrong. Kind staff. I would not go again.

Yelp
Stopped in randomly for an early dinner and it did not disappoint. Little ambience, but the service was efficient and helpful, and the food was authentic and tasty. Thai Papaya Salad, Spicy Drunken Noodles and Green Curry with duck were all excellent. We will be back!

Yelp
Always quick service. Excellent food. They have the best egg drop soup I have ever had anywhere. Relaxing atmosphere.

Yelp
The staff was so incredibly kind, the food was incredible, and inside was so beautiful!! I hope more people decide to make this restaurant a regular for them like I have.

Yelp
This is the best takeout spot in Nashville and you're a total goober if you disagree. Tofu from any other establishment is inedible, but I would fight a bear for the Tofu Red Curry from Thai Kitchen.

Nick

Yelp
Love this place! Food is always amazing, and the staff are always so nice and helpful. The curry and lo mein are my go-to's.

G L.

Yelp
The food is really good. You should mention how spicy you want your dish as they are very accommodating. The menu is pretty extensive so you have a lot to choose from. The staff is very nice and friendly. It is very clean with nice music playing in the background. Very relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely go again when I'm in Nashville! Although the address is Thompson Lane, it's really on W Iris Drive, just off Thompson Lane at light. If you are watching for it, you miss it!!!

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch. The shop is so quaint and lovely. The staff is super nice. The food came out super fast and was delicious. I got the veggie red curry and my sister got the kung pao chicken. I will say the portions of rice are fairly small in proportion to the amount of curry. I also had a random shrimp in my vegetarian curry which I enjoyed but could be problematic for anyone with seafood allergies. Overall, super fantastic Thai food for the price and the shop is cute.

Yelp
HOLE IN A WALL* ALERTTTT‼this place is soooo goodd, more than good! The food was wonderful, I experienced a unique taste of Thai food here:) every Thai restaurant is different & I really enjoyed my time here. The atmosphere is quiet and simple, the owners/servers were very nice & hospitable appreciated the service & quality & freshness of the food‼definitely coming back again (*a place that doesn't "look" appealing from the outside, but is a gem on the inside)

Yelp
Good Food, Awesome Service From Leena We enjoyed our first trip to Thai Kitchen not only for the delicious food, but the excellent service from Leena. She went out of her way to be super sweet to our son as well as just having a happy personality overall. Interesting conversations too. Drunken Boodles were delicious. I might have liked a slightly larger portion but it was tasty. Pad Thai is awesome here. Good serving size.... DELICIOUS! Mango Sticky Rice made for a good finale of tastiness! Fried Banana Dessert: drizzled honey over tiny fried bananas. Tasty! They give you bottled water for free to drink instead of glasses of water. Unlimited supply. This will become one of our regular spots now for sure when we are in the area. All in all a great spot to get some tasty food! What are you waiting for, stop in and enjoy some flavor in your life!

Yelp
I am OBSESSED with this place. Usually, I order takeout, but the servers are really nice so it's also fun to eat inside. My go-to is green curry chicken, but I also LOVE their spicy lo mein and basil stir fry. You really can't go wrong.

Yelp
I ate at Thai Kitchen on a Sunday afternoon based on curiosity after seeing it off the street. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall just outside of downtown. The parking is adequate as there are additional spaces across the street. The interior decor is modest but the restaurant was clean. The server was very nice and checked on us multiple times and the food came out in a reasonable time. I started with the steamed dumplings and boy were they delicious. I could tell they were freshly made and not from the freezer. I followed that with a cup of wonton soup and had the opposite experience - the broth had no flavor but the wontons were fresh. My main dish was beef pad see ewe. Firstly the noodles were cooked just right and full of flavor. The broccoli was tasty and well made. The only part of the dish I didn't like was the beef which was cold and tasteless. Overall I had some really good items mixed with some misses. I would come here again to try some different dishes in search of hidden gems.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years! It was my go to spot for Thai Fried Rice. But I recently discovered their Green Curry!!! I've been missing out! So happy I discovered it. But now I'm torn on which to get whenever I go... heck, I'll just get both! The staff here is always so nice and patient, even when they are busy. Makes going back a pleasure.

Yelp
Thai Kitchen is the best mom and pop restaurant. You get great value, authentic taste and real nice owners. Chinese bbq: this is my absolute favorite dish that they make. The mom only makes this every once in a while so make sure you call ahead and check if she has it available. If she has it though, get ready for a sweet and savory sauce with juicy pieces of dark meat. The flavor is soaked through as it's oven baked in their kitchen. I make sure I order two. One for lunch and one for dinner. Thai style minced pork basil with fried egg: listen just get the fried egg added on. You won't regret it with the basil explosion with every bite. Garlic beef: lots of garlic. Need I say more? Okay I will. The beef is tender and the brown sauce is great to mix in with your white rice. Don't forget your Thai tea! Support this mom and pop Thompson lane staple!

Hermelinda S.

Yelp
Clean, simple atmosphere. Food was delicious and prompt. Instead of tap water, they gave bottle water for free (love that!). I got the Thai kitchen fried rice with chicken and my spouse got the green curry chicken with Tom kha soup as an appetizer. All of it hit the spot for us. Wish we lived closer so we can come get our Thai food fix here. :)

Yelp
No frills, just dank. The Pad Se-ew was so delicious, and the service was wonderful and so fast! My friend got the shrimp Pad Thai, which was also amazing, and I'm not a peanut fan so usually I'm indifferent about that dish. Not this time- Would def come back!
google avatar

Zoraida K.

Yelp
We have patronizing this establishment for years Everything is cooked fresh. You can choose how hot or not you want it made. It is a great example of a small business that has been around for years! Strip on by for your Thai/Chinese fix without the "new" Nashville price.

Yelp
I ordered the Pad thai with tofu and an egg roll. The egg roll was delicious but I was a bit disappointed with the pad thai. I do not recommend the tofu it was extremely dry and pretty much hallow with no flavor. I also found the pad thai very dry but it had a good flavor to it. There were no sauce or limes included for the egg rolls or entrees. The service was phenomenal. While calling in our order the lady on the phone was delightful and our order was ready in less than 20 minutes. When we got there they were very serious about sanitation and social distancing. Our food was ready as soon as we walked in and the worker washed the pen and my card before handing it back to me and provided me with hand sanitizer and wipes. Extremely impressed with their response to COVID-19. While their pad thai wasn't to die for their friendliness and speedy service made the food worth it.

Yelp
This place has been in business there for 30 years. They are clean, the service was good and the food was amazing! I will be going back very soon!

Yelp
Thai Kitchen was open on a holiday for lunch, so we thought we would give it a try. This is a no-frills restaurant with a very casual, quick-service vibe. Very little decor. Definitely not a welcoming feeling when you walk in the door. The prices are cheap. They do not have a lunch menu but you don't really need a lunch menu when entrees are as low as $7.00. My BF was in a hurry so I did not get much time to peruse the menu. He ordered the Spicy Noodles and I ordered Garlic Chicken. My food came out first. I don't like it when entrees for a table do not come out at the same time. It's just awkward. Luckily we only had to wait less than 5 minutes for his entree to come out. His order came out as the Drunken Noodles but he was so hungry, he ate it. He did tell me there was very little flavor to his entree. My Garlic Chicken was rather blah. I asked for it to be made spicy and it was not spicy at all. I tried to doctor it up with the little spices on the table but to no avail. And then to make matters worse, I found a short black hair in my food. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to like Thai Kitchen. I really did. But I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
I've been going here for years now to eat trusty Thai food. This place is family-run, and they run it well. Try anything in the menu and it will be good. The service is excellent, and it's just what you would expect from a good, solid, family run Thai restaurant.

Violet F.

Yelp
So good. Oh my gosh. The service is quick and so nice. The food is amazing. So good. Made my day.

Jessica J.

Yelp
Delicious food! This was our first food stop visiting Nashville and it did not disappoint! Thank you Leena for your welcoming spirit. This is a family owned business that has been around for 30+ years! The new renovations looked great. We will definitely stop by again if ever in Nashville.

Daniel M.

Yelp
Amazing food, wonderful service. You've got to try their curries! The stir fry and noodle dishes are also superb. It's the best Thai food I've found in Nashville.

Celest C.

Yelp
AMAZING! I'm a college student and found this spot. I've been coming for the past 2.5 years. Yummy food and great service for great prices! I always get the Chicken Pad Thai. The chicken curry is super good too! They have lunch specials for some plates being only $10 and you get a spring roll or egg roll. I love this place and recommend to everyone! I come so often that they know my name and order haha!
google avatar

Shreya R.

Yelp
Such great food! And such friendly staff! The food there was truly amazing. And they have a ton of vegetarian options because you can basically substitute tofu or extra veggies for the meat in almost any dish! The basil stir fry was so delicious and the portion size was great! The staff is also super nice and would love to chat with you about recommendations and their favorites too! Overall, a delightful place in every way:)

Betty C.

Yelp
Best Thai restaurant we've ever been to the food is excellent I would recommend everything on the menu

Yelp
Everything we ordered was amazing. The place can use a renovation but we were there for their pad Thai and pho. Loved the spring rolls too!
google avatar

Yelp
Quick dinner at a mom & pop Thai place. Hubby and I had the Panang Curry (me tofu; he chicken). It was very good! Didn't look like much but it filled us up and hit the spot. The tofu pieces were large. The coconut cream sauce was just right of thickness and flavor. Server did not ask what heat level we wanted. It had a bit of a bite to it but I still found it palatable. The Thai tea was perfectly blended and not super sweet either. Yum! I recommend; this is a hidden gem.

Yelp
4.5 I've been craving Pad Thai for a while, and this is by far one of the most consistent Thai restaurants in nashville. When you walk in, you definitely get the authentic vibes, from the smell to the decor to the Buddhist decorations - this is the definition of a family business. The employees were extremely kind, I came about 30 minutes closing to place a to go order, I got the Combination Pad Thai. I sat down for what felt like maybe 5 minutes and my order was out, they even put extra side sauces in without asking - love that. For the price point, this is the best Pad Thai in Nashvile. I paid 8.95 for a combination of chicken beef and shrimp and it was still that low. The serving was extremely generous as well. you can tell their is pride taken in their food. While I have had better pad Thai in Nashville, don't let that deter you from making a trip, this is still one my personal favorites and you will not be disappointed
google avatar

Sarah Beth P.

Yelp
100% best Pad Thai in Nashville. Always soooo cheap for such good food. Highly recommend their tofu or vegetable pad Thai. Their Tom yum soup is also a favorite.
google avatar

Gini M.

Yelp
I am vegetarian and i am ok with eggs! But after moving to Nashville, i understand that thai curry is made with the help of fish sauce. And i never tried after that but in this restaurant they modified my thai green curry without fish sause and also asked me do you want vegan! Helpful, fast service, good quantity and great quality! Will visit again!!
google avatar

Dayna S.

Yelp
Ordered Thai style chicken basil stir fry and a spring roll. Spring roll was an egg rolls, chicken looked like ground beef, sauce was oily, and there was a hair in my rice. Flavor was ok and they did comp my meal - which was very kind. The service was fast and friendly. 3 for food, 1 for cleanliness.

Yelp
Wow. This place was phenomenal. Seriously good. Let me set the stage for you: I was shopping with some friends and we were trying to figure out where to go around 100 oaks. We pulled up our trust Yelp app and saw there was a thai place two minutes away. I'm usually weary of trying Thai (or Indian) places that someone I personally know hasn't given me the thumbs up, but I decided to give it a shot. We pulled up to the restaurant and they have a little side parking lot. There weren't many cars there for a Saturday night, and once we got inside there were only 2 other tables filled. We stood there for a second and were a bit confused on if we should seat ourselves, but then an elderly man showed up to a table. The menu has some great options, and the prices are so cheap! You are able to get a full dinner meal for 7 dollars, and the portions are just right. Enough for you to be full, but not enough to take home leftovers. They have all different types of sushi and thai curries/dishes. I made a popular choice by opting for the chicken pad thai. It was absolutely delicious! Seriously, best I've had in Nashville so far! The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was divine. They bring out this cute little dish with different spices to add some flavor to your meal. I was catching up with some old friends and we sat there for three hours (there was plenty of space). When I went up to pay, I planned on tipping very generously, but found out that their credit card machine does not let customers tip. I felt so bad because I didn't have any cash, but they will definitely make money off of me in the future! I really reccomend trying it out!

Ryan G.

Yelp
The food is great, but the service is amazing. They are super friendly and have not made a mistake. One time I forgot my wallet and when I pulled into the parking lot I realized it and drove 15 minutes back to pick it up. I told the cashier because I was 30 minutes late. She said I should have told her because she would have given me the food and I could have called with my credit card number and she would have cashed me out over the phone. The Pad Woon Sen and Pad Se-ew are my go to choices.
google avatar

Dan J.

Yelp
Still coming back for more after all these years. If you want home cooked authentic Thai cuisine, this is the place to be. The chef is also the owner with her husband. The green peach fish cooked in a light brown sauce with ginger, snow peas is my current go to dish. But a simple egg drop soup is equally good. If you like currry the Massamun curry or the Panang curry are very good. If you want to try something else unique to this restaurant, try the steamed seafood curry (wrapped in foil with red curry sauce). They have been at the same location for at least 20 years. They are very busy at lunchtime but at night I see families of 6 or more in a more laid back atmosphere.
google avatar

Élise A.

Yelp
Stop by for lunch with my family. We loved our visit, and food was great. Had some more entrees I didn't get to take photo of, because they dig in so fast
google avatar

Stan D.

Yelp
I have been their customer for the past two years and I can't be happier. Excellent food and service - I would recommend their Pad Thai with shrimp and tofu. The trick is to enjoy your Pad Thai as soon as possible. Pad Thai is best served warm. I'm also grateful for the service. It is quick, easy and friendly. I used to come over for weekend brunch, but due to COVID I have been only ordering to go. I can't wait to return and do dine in again.
google avatar

Erin P.

Yelp
The food was good and the service was also good but the parking situation stinks there and it is the reason I'm giving four stars. But other than that, I would have given five.

Nick G.

Yelp
Great and easy interaction on the phone, the lady was so nice to me. Order was ready in 15 minutes. Went in the door and they had a sneeze guard to separate the cashier and customer (for Covid) and had tape to mark the 6 foot lines. I got my food and she wiped down a pen and my card before giving it back to me and had hand sanitizer and wipes available for customers. The cleanest place I have visited so far! Pad Thai lacked a bit of spice, but was still pretty good. We didn't get limes or sauce for the egg rolls, but it still was a great meal. Our food was nice and warm and the egg rolls were cooked perfectly. Tofu was very dry, but chicken and shrimp were cooked very well! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick place to get take out or delivery during the quarantine!
google avatar

Linda K.

Yelp
My daughter and I had a wonderful meal at Thai Kitchen today! The food was delicious!!!! We had egg rolls, pork buns, pad Thai, and the yellow curry with pineapple, onions, and potatoes. Everything was yummy! The woman who took our order and waited on us was very friendly and worked hard to ensure we had everything we wanted and/or needed. I highly recommend Thai Kitchen!
google avatar

MingYang L.

Yelp
Hands down the best thai place in all of nashville through franklin. My wife is thai, and after being dragged by here through all of the americanized thai of smiling elephant or basil to the true small shops like international market (yeah thats their name) or king's market, this is undoubtedly the king. The fold here is simple, homely, well priced, authentic, and delicious. My top recommendations include pla chu chee (lightly fried fish with red curry), the tom kha (ask for fried tofu instead of chicken), the pad ka pao (minced basil chicken, ask for thai style or else they'll give it not minced but more like chicken pieces), and the pad thai is great too. Try it wish the sugar and vinegar. For the more adventurous thinking about some authentic experiences, i recommend the larb, a limey minced meat salad, or the papaya salad. Seriously if you "think" you like thai food, you owe it to yourself to try this place for some true homestyled authentic thai food.
google avatar

Lalita N.

Yelp
Delicious food and very clean! Great customer service and honestly the best Thai restaurant in Nashville! Papaya salad is a must!
google avatar

Shauna S.

Yelp
Food is a bit bland- it was lacking the spice that most Thai restaurants have. (They did not even ask for a spiciness level when ordering.) However, the food seemed pretty healthy and not as oily as some other restaurants. They were able to add tofu to my order of basil mixed vegetable, which I appreciated. However, my fiance was pretty disappointed with his chicken fried rice and lack of spice. We might stop again for a cheap eatery option, but probably not another time soon.
google avatar

Jamika P.

Yelp
Food had no decisive flavor. Soup was oily. Egg rolls were terrible. Do not believe previous reviews like I did. Complete waste of money.
google avatar

Emily E.

Yelp
Good Thai food for a decent price. Basically I got exactly what I was expecting. I ordered the red curry with shrimp. It was a generous portion and the shrimp were large and plump. My uncle ordered the pad Thai with chicken, and he enjoyed it as well. I particularly enjoyed the little caddy of pickled peppers, peanuts, spicy condiments, etc. The menu is pretty overwhelming to someone not super familiar with Thai food. I stuck with a tried-and-true favorite because I wasn't sure what some of the other dishes contained, and I have major food FOMO if I order something I feel like isn't as good. The waitress was a bit difficult to understand, so we didn't ask too many questions. None of this is really a fault of the restaurant; just something to be aware of before you go. We went at a weird time so service was pretty quick. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired.
google avatar

Stears I.

Yelp
I love the tofu pad Thai here. The tofu is always made with a crunchy outside and soft inside. The level of spice I request is always perfect and my meals are always tasty. The staff is always pleasant and willing to serve. Parking is a bit tight, so if you don't find parking in front of the restaurant, there is a line of parking spaces across the street.
