The 19 Best Vietnamese Restaurants In SF - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Noodle soups make up the majority of the menu at this relaxed Sunset spot, from thick egg noodles topped off with shredded chicken to rice noodles with wontons, fish balls, or hunks of fall-apart stewed beef. The one worth traversing the Avenues in sandals for is the egg noodle soup with wontons and a massive braised duck leg. The bone pulls right out, and the broth is clear and umami-packed. The 25 Best Restaurants In The Sunset & Parkside - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Noodle soups make up the majority of the menu at this relaxed Vietnamese spot, so get here when you need perfectly bouncy egg noodles and a steam facial from hot broth. The red leather booths inside this walk-in place are always full during the lunch rush with folks debriefing their mornings while munching on house pickles, golden brown egg rolls, and fish cakes. The best thing on the menu is the egg noodle soup with wontons and a duck leg that’s braised to that elusive fall-off-the-bone consistency." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez

The 15 Best Noodle Soups In San Francisco - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Soup: Braised Duck Leg With Won Ton Egg Noodle Soup At this Outer Sunset spot, noodle soups are basically the only thing on the menu, aside from sides like fish cakes and extra crispy egg rolls. The soup that reigns supreme is the one topped with a whole braised duck leg that slides off the bone with ease. It comes with squiggly egg noodles (get the thick ones) and plump wontons, plus a side of pickles that cut through the richness of the bowl. This place gets crowded around lunch, but tables turn fast, and you’ll be downing soup in no time." - julia chen 1, lani conway, ricky rodriguez

Excellent restaurant with a focus on wonton noodles with a incredible duck leg in a wonderful soup. The soup is very good with a nice complexity and can be served on the side which is recommended. The duck is extremely tender and flavorful. You can add the soup into it as you eat. The table is stocked with lots of condiments. Also you can have either hot or cold soy milk which is complementary which is also a wonderful touch especially in cooler San Francisco. We really enjoyed our meal but it can get crowded and the owner is very very nice, other servers however are a little less friendly.

A must try Vietnamese - Chinese noodle store. Egg noodles is the best either thin or flat one! We’re recommended by friends to try. Wide selection of Chinese-Vietnamese noodle soups, with egg noodle options. Not sure which number item on menu as i just ordered exactly picture shows online. We got: Mix combination meat with wonton and thin egg noodles - soup on the side. Also added one duck leg and plate of fried fish cake. — Noodle bowl comes with good portion of noodle, big filled wonton, mix of toppings : shrimp, ground pork, kidney, mini fish ball, crispy shrimp crackers. Simple dish but really good. I like the fish ball which must be house made. The shrimp crackers’s just ok - not special. The soup bowl separately on side. Have one bite of noodle and one sip of fresh soup. Just so good. You may find the broth is too simple, can’t compare to the full flavored Pho broth. But i think it’s simply make it a great dish really. However in my opinion, It will be perfect if they can add some greens like bokchoy or carrot. 4.9/5 On table you will see some extra seasoning sauce like with vinegar, jalapeño pickles , chili oil, hoisin, sriracha and soy sauce. — Duck leg’s braised so it’s very soft, fell out of bone easily. Ppl will think it’s chicken. As duck’s usually tougher. I think The way it’s cooked long enough to soften the meat. 5/5 — Fried fish cake: very soft but needs more flavor. 3.5/5 — Vietnamese coffee: perfect!!!!! 5/5 Overalls: good dine in experience. Customer service ‘s great / very friendly. It can get very busy in the lunch time - Parking may be difficult. Paid street parking and make sure to park closed by or in front of restaurant so you can keep eyes on car. Restroom is clean. Note: Some customers said there’s complimentary hot soy milk. As i already ordered the Vietnamese coffee and had not been offered about the soy milk. So i will check out to try it next time and the spicy satay beef noodle soup with special peanut broth.

Always a line outside during lunch hours. So, we decided to come here late afternoon. It's not a big dining area. They only have one big table for a party of 8 max. The duck leg was tender and juicy. The portion was good enough for one. The service was attentive and fast. Price is reasonable. We will go again to try other dishes. Stay tuned.

Great Chinese Vietnamese Teo Chew restaurant. The fried fish cakes were tasty and the Braised Duck Leg Noodle Soup was very good. The duck was very tender and flavorful. I would return if I'm in the area.

If you’re craving comfort food - come here! Their dishes are simple and very comforting to eat. The braised duck falls off the bone so easily and the egg noodles are well seasoned. The soup compliments it really well as a palate cleanser. We also tried the seafood ho fun noodle soup and that was good as well. The fish balls were definitely made in-house and were just the right bounciness.

Long wait for a table. Long wait for the noodles. Egg rolls was smaller than I thought but taste just like how my mother/grandmother made them; delicious. Duck thigh was tender. Egg noodles was soft. Love the broth.

Google
This restaurant is a bit of a hole in the wall Vietnamese/Chinese noodle soup restaurant that serves a well known egg noodle. Very popular for neighborhood locals. We tried the braised duck leg that comes with wontons and egg noodles. You can choose from the narrow noodles or the wide ones and to get the soup on the side or mixed in. The duck leg is braised so that the meat is soft and falls right off the bone. The wontons were nice and had a slight bouncy texture. They have a chili paste in the condiments on the table that brings the flavors to the next level! We also tried the beef stew noodles which was alright, the flavors were a bit mild, not for saltiness, just in terms of spices. There was lots of tendon that came with the dish, but only one piece of meat (you can see it in the picture). I did wish there were some green vegetables that came with the dishes. You also get an option to have complimentary soy milk hot or cold with your meal, which was pretty nice! The restaurant is quite packed for lunch. Luckily today we went for a late lunch and got a table right away. The restaurant is clean and staff are nice and efficient. Prices are pretty decent and the portion size filled us up. Would recommend.

Yelp
Noodbody will deny some comforting noodz after a night of drinking .:: Food::. #4 Nghiep Ky Won Ton Ho Fun & Egg Noodle Soup (thick noodle) $13: On the usual, I would totally get the dry but I was just really craving soup since it was a cold day and a day after drinking. LOVED the thick egg noodles, the ho fun was very comforting. Would have skipped out on the liver. The crispy shrimp cake was icing on top. .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. Came on a Saturday afternoon around 1-2pm? A bit of a wait as we came during the lunch rush. You write your name down on the waitlist. This very nice asian uncle who I presume is the owner calls out the name and takes your order once you are seated. He speaks both Cantonese and Viet so completely feels like my own uncle. The place is VERY hole in the wall mom and pops shop. Nothing fancy, its like cafe style. It's BUSSIN' (haha i just learned this genZ slang, am I cool yet?) Parking was a bit rough in sunset but I immediately found street parking. You gotta pay.

Yelp
this place was on my bookmarked list and I was very excited to go try the soup, which was very good soup. note there are NO vegetarian options, so our friend who was vegetarian they gave him a bowl of dry noodle and some soup but he couldn't eat anything else. the food came out in less than 10 minutes which was super fast. there are only about 12 tables only in the restaurant and they were all full when we were there, so other people behind us had to wait. we ordered which were honestly really good 11. Braised Duck Leg Ho Fun Soup 12. Braised Duck Leg Ho Fun & Egg Noodle Soup: this comes with both egg noodle and rice noodle and is delicious

Yelp
A solid brunch place, went around Saturday 11:15am and there was no line. Best to go with smaller groups since the tables aren't too large. Order menu #3 (duck with egg noodles in soup) and #7 (duck with wonton and egg noodles with soup on the side). Each item ranges from $14 - $16. I think most customers order the soup on the side, which allows for variety in eating styles, able to dip the noodles or no soup at all. The duck was very tender and had great flavor. The soup was also delicious, not too salty and flavorful. Simple dish that you can't go wrong with. Overall, great food for all meals.

Yelp
The Duck and thin Egg Noodles were great. The flavorful clear broth with tender braised duck leg was a savory delight for my little one. I had the beef stew that I did not care for. The broth was not stew-like at all and the dish only came with 2pcs of beef. I would not order this dish again.

Yelp
Always a favorite for a comfort meal. I love the dry noodles and my husband likes the soup version. Their duck is super moist and great as a side addition for extra protein. They usually have hot soy milk available. Super delicious. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Came back for a late lunch at 1pm with a party of 4 on a Saturday; it was busy but there was a table available within 10 minutes luckily. Just what we needed on a chilly and foggy SF day, we all ordered our usual noodle dishes; the food comes out relatively quickly and you can sip your fresh complimentary soymilk as you wait :) Nghiep Ky Won Tong Ho Fun & Egg Noodle Soup: I alternate between this and the braised duck leg noodles, but I like this one because it has a bit of everything, so you can switch it up as you eat. Everything comes out piping hot, and it's just so comforting to sip a little broth, have a bit of noodle, wonton and different types of protein, and then add a bit of chili and vinegar as you go to keep it fresh. Spring rolls: we decided to get this to share; nice and light crispy wrapper around the dense meat filling, this was a good appetizier to start off with. Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia continues to be an affordable comfort meal of noodles that can't be beat.

Yelp
Went for the first time based on Yelp reviews. It was fantastic! Packed with Asians only for a Monday lunch. Duck soup with wide noodles (Ho fun) was delicious. Served as a whole duck thigh and leg in soup, but as soon as I touch it, the meat falls off the bone! $14.50 for a bowl of that sweet sweet stuff! Hoisin and sriracha at the table to season to your preference. It's now my favorite soup place. Right next door to Patelco; very convenient if you bank there!

Yelp
- warm hearty soup in the center of sunset - clean soup with good amount of toppings - noodles are chewy - attentive, welcoming and helpful staff - food is easy and reminds me of my childhood - fried fish cakes - hot soy milk - thick noodles is a must (for me) - enjoy!

Yelp
My go-to spot that was recommended to me by one of my Vietnamese friends. Looking for hot warm noodle soup on a cold day or something to fill your belly at a affordable price while also pleasing your taste buds, this is the place to go. #13 with egg noodles is always my go to and if you typically call for pick up it's quick in about 10-15 minutes. I have a few times ventured off of the #13 but pretty loyal to this item on their menu that at times I order 4-5 of the same orders for the family. Decently priced and I feel like this place has gotten more and more popular within the last few years.

Yelp
What a hidden gem in the Sunset! It was my first time trying this type of noodle dish, and I'll definitely be back. Service is no frills, and it's hard to beat the price, especially in the city. I thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary lightly sweetened iced and hot soy milk. The noodles are so comforting, and I love the variety of toppings. The #13 Nghiep Ky egg noodle and #15 Nghiep Ky ho fun and egg noodle (two types of noodles!) came with shrimp, fish balls, fish cake slices, meat, liver, and a cracker with whole shrimp. I'm usually not a fan of liver, but this one was pretty clean tasting without any gamy or metallic taste. We all chose wide over thin egg noodles, and you can ask for noodle soup or soup on the slide. The pickled jalapenos were great to add on top. I'd love to try the braised duck leg and satay beef next time!

Yelp
Hubs wanted to give this place a try after noticing a long line. Arrived on a Saturday and all the tables were taken. Waited a short while before we were seated. Noticed many tables ordered a version of the dry thick egg noodles, so kiddo and hubs ordered that - one with seafood and the other with the duck leg. I ordered the satay beef ho fun. Took a while before our bowls arrived. Hubs liked the flavor of the duck and noodles, but noted they didn't give a lot of noodles. Kiddo noted his noodles were on the salty side. He didn't care for it too much. As for the satay beef, there were quite a bit of ho fun and a good amount of beef but it was bland. Adding the broth helped to add more flavor, but it's not something I'd order again.

Yelp
Good authentic Vietnamese noodles. Parking found within a block after circling once on a Thursday at 12:30pm. No wait at that time, they were medium busy. I got #10, Braised Duck Leg Noodle (3 stars), and while the duck was full of flavor, I found the soup a little on the bland side. I was asked if I wanted thin or thick noodles, and I decided on thin. My bowl was still about 20% thick noodles though, all at the bottom. Now that I'm reading reviews, I didn't know about the free soy milk! They don't advertise it or bring it up. I got hot water which came out quickly, and it was VERY hot so just be careful.

Yelp
This popular noodle shop has been featured in many food vlogs for good reason! They serve complimentary soy milk (hot or iced), and their duck is worth all the hype. To get the best of both worlds, I got the wonton and duck noodle soup. The wonton was easily outshined by the 'fall off the bone' tender, flavorful braised duck. I recommend ordering the comforting and light broth on the side and putting the wontons in it to keep them from drying out. While most mom and pop noodle shops are known for their quick service, expect a wait if you're ordering the duck. We waited about 15 minutes for a table on Sat morning and another 25 minutes before getting our order.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
Long story short, this place gives you a clean-tasting bowl of soup that's extremely comforting on the cold days. The braised duck leg was full of flavor, as were the wontons, and the mixed textures of thick egg noodles and rice noodles were so satisfying. Also, I'm a FIEND for pickled jalapeños/thai chilis, and I feel like I usually can only ever find them at Viet-Chinese spots. Mix the peppers with hoisin sauce, and you get a balanced little bite on the side of your noodles. I need to come back someday!

Yelp
My go to for ho fun noodle soup shop. I usually go for the combo ho fun soup. My comfort meal! Parking can be frustrating to find but the place is good so it's worth it. They are always busy so you know this place is good! The service is quick to which is good when you're hungry!

Yelp
Came on a Wednesday afternoon and had no issues with street parking. This place is a mom and pop shop with plenty of seating. They were busy but I was seated right away. I ordered the #2 which is the combination with wontons and the food came out within 10 minutes. The broth is very clean but flavorful and I had the thick egg noodles which was the perfect texture. They load up the broth with different cuts of meat and shrimp. Definitely want to come back and try other entrees

Yelp
8/5/24 Got their beef stew egg noodle soup ($15) but ordered the wrong noodles! Tried to get their thick noodles but got their thin noodles instead. Came with a lot of meat but the beef tasted very gamey. Very tender but flavor wasnt the best. The soup is a tomato base which I like bc it's usually thicker but I recommend the thick wavy noodles instead of the thin noodles. The duck in their popular dish was fall off the bone and realllyyyy good 10/10 recommend Also the soy milk was really good

Yelp
This is an underrated restaurant out in the sunset area. In a quiet neighborhood. Didn't plan this but I was in that area and try to find a place to go for lunch. And since it was a chilly day. The noodle sounds great to me. I think the vibe it's just like hai ky mi gia in tenderloin area but they sell a lot more options of noodle here. Seems like most of people there were local who lives in the area. Service was nice. I got order of fried egg roll , came out hot and crispy and cheap! 1 pc per dollar. Taste was not bad But then the noodle came , 1 was the duck with dumpling , the broth was so good and the duck just came out off the bone!!! So so good !!!! Also the beef was really really tender. Both of them was a hit!!! Don't expect anything more than just good food with a good price. This is totally worth to try if you like Asian noodle.

Yelp
My companion asked what I was craving and with it being a rainy day, soup was on my mind. He took us to Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia as he'd come here as a teen. The restaurant is no-frills and gives a neighborhood Asian spot vibe to it. Inside, Asian decor plasters the walls, local families and couples dining in, and a quiet ambiance to it aside from occasional overheard conversations. I didn't interact with the staff much as my companion did that for us. Though the service was efficient in getting our order placed and food out, it just took a while for us to pay. Being it my first time, I wasn't sure what to get. I ordered a Nghiep Ky Wonton Ho Fun Soup while my companion had the Nghiep Ky Won Ton Egg Noodle Soup. I will say the portion and amount of protein they put is great; I could only eat half. The clear broth was warm and soothing while the quality of the proteins was decent but not flavorful. Luckily the sides and condiments helped add flavor. The noodles were plentiful, soft, and slippery but I preferred the texture and taste of my companions. Sunset district has plenty of Asian eateries, for those looking for comforting soup and noodles Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia is affordable and will fill your belly. There's metered street parking around since they're off Noriega Street.

Yelp
I finally got to try this place for lunch on a busy Saturday and was seated immediately. The restaurant was chattering with a bunch of families and it felt very home- y! We got the fried fish cake as an appetizer, duck egg noodle with wonton and side soup, and the satay noodle. I honestly would've given this 5 stars if it weren't for the overcooked noodles in the satay soup. The soup was sadly ruined because the noodles were so soft they were disintegrating in the soup. However, the soup itself had amazing flavor and I loved the peanuts. I loved my duck noodle soup with wonton! Definitely pour the soup in the egg noodles or else it'll be pretty dry. I don't normally like duck thigh because it's very finnicky but this duck was soo fragrant, juicy, and tender and fell straight off the bone. The wonton skin itself also had very thin skin and the filling inside was so hearty. I also remember the noodles being tossed with a little bit of scallion oil and it was just chef's kiss! I want to come back and really hope that next time the noodles in my friend's satay soup aren't as overcooked.

Yelp
Wow just wow. Had the #7 with soup on the side, #33 soup on the side #14 soup on the side. The soup on the side option is the way to go. Now, I love soup noodles as much as the next guy but when you get soup on the side, they somehow season the noodles so that it tastes incredible, and the soup is a nice palate cleanser, which is not what you'd think. The Duck leg....is basically like a Vietnamese version of BBQ ribs. The meat falls literally off the bone, is salty and tender, just perfect. Love the little bit of acidic pickled veggies (and pickled jalapeños on the table). Just a perfect perfect dish. Took every ounce of willpower to not order another bowl. Beef noodle soup was a heavy tomato base which made it a nice unique spin (for a guy used to Taiwanese style beef noodle soup). The seafood/meat variety noodle was also top notch. Also had the egg rolls, just crispy and hot, with a nice fish sauce on the side. This place is freaking legit. In fact, ignore my review, so that it doesn't get so popular a line forms. So far, it's full the entire time we were there (1pm on a Sat) but never had a line more than 5-10 mins.

Yelp
This hole on the wall hidden gem caught Kevin's eyes after a relaxing day at the beach nearby in the city in this fine 4th of July! There are only certain places I'd have duck from and this place is no doubt one of those few places, the braised duck leg was just braised to perfection, a literal off the bone scene that made the dining experience that much more spectacular! They operate cash only and the service feels like home, the sweetest folks you'll ever meet! This place does get pretty busy and I think the space is reasonable but prepare to possibly share a table with someone (which in courtesy they ask upon seating you with a stranger if that's okay with you and your party) which I thought was nice and considerate to maximize the space. I also got a warm soy to drink and thought that it was a perfect finish after the flavorful bowl. Kevin and I would definitely come back when in town!

Yelp
Homey and hearty meal. Food was delicious and authentic. Run by a family who can speak multiple languages which is nice. The broth isn't as rich as pho, but the duck is so tender. It's not something I see offered in the bay and I think it's worth a try. Tip: If you don't like your noodles soggy from the broth, you can have the broth on the side.

Yelp
If you're a fan of Hy Kai Noodle in the Tenderloin and Vien Hong in Oakland then you'll like Thai Nghiep Ky Mi Gia. Similarly, they have the duck leg and egg noodles. I had the combination ho fun noodle soup and it hit the spot. Though it says Vietnamese cuisine, don't expect pho here. But they have many different noodle soups to choose from, The broth is clear and reminds you of a clean chicken broth. The noodles are flat rice noodles. Service was quick and food came out promptly. Tables are spread out along with mixture of booths. Don't forget the free soy milk. Street parking

Yelp
Swung by Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was busy. We were asked if we wanted to at a communal family-style table and didn't mind so we shared a table with two other parties. My friend and I ordered the same item #9 with braised duck leg wonton with ho fun and Egg Noodle and soup on the side... except my friend ased for her egg noodles thin and I asked for wide. There was another party across from us that had a drink like item not listed on their paper menus, turns out it was Che (which they had signs on their walls offering this). So glad we tried it, so good, fresh and seems house made which I don't doubt. Once we ordered, a table opened up and the waiter asked if we wanted to move, and we took him up on it. Nice service, OG decor and vibe, and food came out hot, fresh and I loved their pickled jalepenos with this. Would like to go back.

Yelp
An interesting but good hole-in-the-wall Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. I can't believe I've never noticed this restaurant before, and I grew up about 7 blocks away!!!! My husband found this place on Yelp when we searched for Vietnamese food near us. This place had great reviews, and so were slightly interested in trying it, not sure what to expect. I got #39 - Sliced Beef with Ho Fun and Egg Noodle Soup. You can choose between thick or thin egg noodles, and soup separate or with the noodles. I ended up choosing the thick egg noodles, and soup separate - so my bowl came with "dry" noodles, and soup on the side. I really liked it!!! The noodles were so yummy - came with crispy garlic bits at the top. Still can taste it in my mouth hours later lol. The only downer was that it was quite salty on the bottom of the bowl - I probably should have mixed it prior to eating the noodles. My husband got the Duck with Ho Fun and Egg Noodle Soup, with thick noodles, and broth with the noodles. His dish was great too! We also shared a fried fish cake appetizer, which is something I usually wouldn't order, but it tasted great. My daughter loved munching on it too. The hours are weird here - open 10am - 6:30pm. Very strange, but I'm glad we caught when they were open for dinner. Great hole in the wall restaurant, if you're craving a dry noodle soup.

Yelp
We've eaten here a few years back, but this is the first time leaving a review. We wanted something a little different and not just pho, so we opted for this spot. We got there around noon and there were a a bunch of empty tables. Most of the booth tables were taken though. Just so you know, they give complimentary soy milk served hot or cold, but you have to ask for it. I think only old timers/regulars know about this. My bf got a hot soy milk and I chose hot tea. We both ordered noodle soup. #3. NG HIEP KY WONTON HO FUN SOUP: Flavorful soup with seafood, liver and wonton dumplings with medium flat rice noodles. The noodles are not the typical Chinese ho fun that is really wide. It's like linguini sized rice noodles. They give an average amount, but good enough to fill you. I don't care for liver, so I didn't eat it. But everything else was good! They also have a shrimp on top that's been fried with batter. I grabbed that first since I'd rather have it crispy than soggy. 4/5 #12. BRAISED DUCK LEG HO FUN AND EGG NOODLE SOUP: BF had this and enjoyed it. Tasty duck and having both kinds of noodles bring an interesting taste and texture. Not many places have this dish or in this area of SF. 4/5 All around a decent spot for a quick lunch!

Yelp
Today I came here and it did not disappoint. I got the classic 13 with half the egg noodles/rice noodles. The workers are friendly, the prices are fair $13.75. My family comes here and orders to go often. Its super clean, and it's flavorful and portions are perfect If I'm in sunset I'll to come. It's worth it!! Don't sleep on this place. It's similar tasting to the similar place in Tenderloin

Yelp
Probably one of my favorite finds this year! Parking can be a pain but the food is worth the walk if you park a few blocks away. We got the Braised duck leg with wonton thin egg noodle, one with soup on the side and one with soup inside. The duck is cooked perfectly, where it falls off the bone. I loved adding the vinegar from the pickled chilis for some sour balance, that made the bowl literally perfect. Can't wait to come back to try their other noodles!

Yelp
Took my friend to eat here since we haven't seen each other in awhile. Getting a table isn't too difficult as long as you arrive between busy times (we came around 11:15 am). We managed to snag a booth. Ordered: 2 Vietnamese iced coffee 1 seafood noodle soup 1 duck leg and wonton noodle soup Total came to around $60 with tax and tip. They were delicious and both noodle soups were well made and flavorful. I honestly think the duck leg is their best dish but I haven't really tried the others on the menu (I'm biased at this point). I'd love to try the other noodle soups! I do wish they served fresh spring rolls instead of the fried version though.

Yelp
Great food, love their fishball noodles. I always order via phone for pick up and service has been fast and efficient

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a weekday and there were some people there but we were able to get seated right away. Great spot for a casual and affordable meal! The menu has no pictures but I looked at pictures of food on Yelp to figure out what I wanted. The waitress who took our order was such a nice older lady! Very sweet and kind. I got a #9 which was the braised duck leg with won ton ho fun soup. I got the soup on the side and I really enjoyed the dish. I liked the won tons and the duck was very tender and fell off the bone. I was able to eat it with only my chopsticks. It came with 2 kinds of noodles too, one was a flat rice noodle and the other was a flat egg noodle. Both were really good! Each table also has so many condiments! Soy sauce, black vinegar, hoisin, sriracha, chili crisp, pickled jalapenos and more. They had more condiments than any other Viet place I've been to and everything was very organized and clean!

Yelp
The city has so many hole in the wall spots that they're hard to discover. But once you discover this place you'll never wanna go to another noodle place. Their menu says soup for all items but they all come with the option to have them dry. But no matter how you order the food is so good.

Yelp
This place is so good that I prefer it over anything from Vietnamtown in South Bay and Little Saigon in Orange County. I ordered the seafood hu tieu and immensely enjoyed all the flavors and textures. The crispy egg rolls were also delicious and tasted homemade. Everything here is fantastic; I'm sure you can't go wrong with any selection from the menu. The staff are also very pleasant and prompt; I haven't had to wait for a table or very long for my food.

Yelp
This is going to be one of my regular spots in the sunset! It's a very endearing hole-in-the-wall spot. There's ample parking around, and there's usually space for seating so the wait shouldn't be too long. They do close a bit earlier than other restaurants so keep that in mind if you plan to eat there for dinner. Vietnamese coffee is great, not too sweet Egg noodles are delicious and the texture is perfect Duck leg is super tender!!

Yelp
Fish Cakes, fresh soy milk, and Hu Tieu. Hủ tiếu or Hủ tíu is a dish eaten in Vietnam as breakfast. It may be served either as a soup or dry with no broth. This is the only place I know of on this side of the city that serves a good Hu Tieu outside Hai Ky in the tenderloin and the locals know this as well. The staff is friendly and attentive however the service can drag if it gets crowded, especially at lunchtime on the weekends with many locals coming for the large portions, comforting flavors, and great value they offer here. Overall, an excellent place to enjoy Chinese-Vietnamese comfort food on Noriega Street.

Yelp
Old school family vibe restaurant that gives me the reminder home. I was served by a friendly granny who barely spoke English and was super kind. We ordered the classic duck braised wonton and beef ball w.beef slices. The duck was a bit on the saltier end but the wontons were great. The beef balls were perfectly bouncy. They give two types of noodles- the egg noodles and rice noodles which was such a unique combo. The egg noodles were definitely tastier, slightly salted with a chewier texture. They even gave complimentary soy milk!

Yelp
Although the word "Thai" is in the name of this place, it is a Chinese Noodle restaurant. I went here with a small group, and was concerned when I didn't see anything vegetarian on the menu. The woman who took our order said there was nothing vegetarian on the menu, but then offered the "soup without the soup". This was a great solution to my vegetarian problem. The bowl of noodles and vegetables I was served was delicious. Hot, fresh soy milk was served with our order. It was delicious!

Yelp
Stumbled into this location after spending time in Golden Gate Park. There was a small queue but we were seated promptly. We kicked off our meal with a strong Vietnamese drip coffee. The egg noodles with shrimp, fish cake, dumplings, and side of soup broth made for an excellent lunch. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm near Sunset!

Yelp
Great mom and pop noodle restaurant. Thin pencil lead egg noodle, or a wider thin wavy egg noodle or a thicker white rice noodle called ho fun noodle. Portions were of a medium size and soup was very flavorful.

Yelp
First time coming to Thai Nghiep. I had it saved in my collections and was crazy a soup. We went in on New Year's Day around 12:30pm, it was busy but they move fast once someone is done so we got a table for two people almost immediately. We noticed everything appeared to be very clean specifically all the sauces and utensils on the table which was appreciated. We ordered the braised duck leg wonton noodle soup; one with egg noodle and the other with ho fun. We also ordered egg rolls that came in a set of 8 small items. They ask if you want your soup on the side or in the bowl and we chose in the bowl. However, once the food came we realized on the side may have been better so the soup doesn't suck up the flavor. Everything was so deliciously seasoned especially the duck leg that had so much flavor and the meat fell off the leg. It comes with a small side of pickled cucumber and carrots and it hit the spot. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Came here on NY day for a late lunch (1:30pm). Had to put my name on a list, which went rather quickly. The place is quite small with a capacity of about 46. One person takes your order and two others help out with bringing the tea and food. They don't come around with a tea pot to make sure you always have a full cup of tea. When you ask for more tea, they will take your cup and bring it back full. Food is served hot and mostly fresh. Meaning, meatballs are likely from frozen, they do not taste house made. Egg noodles were very good, and toothsome. Egg rolls were hot and crunchy but didn't seem to have any meat in them; I believe they were taro filled. This is a noodle house so they had a good variety of noodle soups. No rice or cold Vermicelli dishes. Good place for a hot bowl of noodle soup.

Yelp
Here I am for a post-Stern Grove meal. It's a cash-only spot. The noodles with soup were perfectly chewy, not overly seasoned with MSG, making it an ideal Chinese-Vietnamese dish. I tried the pickled vegetables, but I'd suggest skipping them--they weren't worth it.

Yelp
A great place to come to if you want some good comfort noodles. Thai Nghiep Ky to me is like the Hai Ky Noodles in SF but in the inner sunset. Hai Ky is amazing too. I came during a quiet Saturday afternoon and we ordered the braised duck wonton egg noodle as well as the fried fish cakes. You can order your noodle dish with the soup in it or have the noodles be dry with a side of soup. The duck was veryyyy tender. Literally just falls off the bone and the noodle dish as a whole was flavorful. I will say it was very salty so you kinda do need to dilute it with some of the soup or it can taste a little bit too strong. But the flavors are good though. The dried fish cake is a classic to me whenever I come to these places. It's crispy, meaty, and it's a great starter. Pair that with some of their pickled veggies and it's really good. Other than that, this is a good spot for noodles! If you are in the Sunset area, this is nice place to come try out.

Yelp
My boyfriend kept hyping up this place for me to try, he was actually right this time. The egg noodles were super tasty. You have the choice of having the soup on the side or with your noodles. Ordered the duck egg noodles with wontons, the meat was so tender it fell off the bone! The house made soy milk and egg rolls were perfection. Feels like you're eating at your Viet aunt's or grandma's for a home cooked meal, need to go here again!

Yelp
We stopped her to get some braised duck noodles. Our mainstay is the other restaurant in the Tenderloin. Unfortunately this place didn't meet expectations... The braised duck was ridiculously salty. Soup was flat. Learned my lesson and stick to the tried and true.

Yelp
Was craving something soupy. 10 minute wait on Sunday around 12:15pm for a party of 2. My first time trying this place and my boyfriends unknowingly second time. He's gotten wonton before and really liked that as well. Nghiep Ky Egg Noodle Soup: 3/5 but my fault because I didn't know how to change to the rice noodles. The egg noodles were a little bit oily and I didn't feel well. I was also not a huge fan of the fatty meat. Will definitely get the braised duck leg next time Braised duck leg egg noodle soup: 5/5 fall apart duck leg Vietnamese coffee: 5/5 a lot of condensed milk careful not to use all of it if you don't want to Service: 5/5 free pickles and soymilk! Also didn't know we could get the soymilk iced, recommend that if you're not a huge fan of piping hot soymilk

Yelp
Lunch at 2PM on a Saturday and the place was packed! We ordered [#7] braised duck leg wonton egg noodle and [#34] satay beef egg noodle soup. The braised duck leg was fall off the bone and so flavorful! I chose the thick egg noodles and they cooked it very Al dente. I think next time I'll try the thin noodles instead. They have a bunch of sauce condiments but the noodles already seasoned well. I didn't need to add anything to my bowl. The side soup is also very good. The satay beef noodle soup was ok. I wouldn't get it again. It's like a nutty broth but kinda flavorless. Service was good even during lunch rush. We did wait about 20 mins for our food. Parking was easy right in front of the restaurant.
