Haven't been to Thai Papaya in years, but the same friend who introduced me to it then, met me there for lunch just like old times. Aaawww, so sweet. Anyway, he also helped to inspire my love for locally-owned businesses. Chains are okay, but I love the authentic experience that I receive at mom and pop businesses.
So anyway, I learned from my friend that Thai food is designed to appeal to all of the senses. At Thai Papaya, you can find something to eat whether you're a carnivore or vegetarian. Lol. Here, I tasted tofu for the first time. Interesting, but I still enjoy meat. Lol.
Last time I was here, I enjoyed the Padd Thai. This time, I opted for Kao Pad. This was a savory mix of Thai fried rice with chicken, eggs, scallions, tomatoes, onions, snow peas, and carrots. This was so moist and delicious- I didn't even need to add any type of sauce. I even tried the Thai iced tea. It was interesting, not bad, but definitely an acquired taste.
Since we were there for lunch, the prices were more reasonable. The rice with your choice of soup, spring roll, or Thai salad was $7.49 compared to the dinner price of $11.99. What a better deal! The Thai iced tea cost $2.95. I wouldn't purchase the tea again, but enjoyed trying it out once.
I enjoy Thai Papaya's quaint mom and pop feel. It provides a nice, casual environment. I'll definitely come back. I hope that you to will visit and help our local businesses thrive and continue to be successful.
