Last night I decided to finally try this place after driving by it so many times. I ordered the coconut soup and fresh spring rolls. The food was okay, no better or worse than any other Thai place. Then today after getting off work, I drove out to Sacramento for some Christmas shopping, and when I went to pay, realized I didn't have my credit card. I called Thai Peppers and sure enough they had kept it, so I rushed over 30 miles from Sacramento and barely made it before closing time.
While on the way, I called in another takeout order since I was going there anyway, and decided to get the drunken noodle and egg rolls.
Upon arriving I got my credit and paid, then she kept my credit card AGAIN, which luckily I noticed right away and got it back. I asked for some chili sauce to go with my drunken noodle. They brought me out this little tiny cup half the size of a soufflé cup and it was less than half full. I asked if I could either have four like that or if I could have two just filled up more because I was going to eat half of the food tonight and half for lunch tomorrow and this was barely a dollop. I was told that there was only one per order, no matter how much food you have and they could give me one more but if I wanted any more I had to pay two dollars. This is completely ridiculous. Any other restaurant gives you a reasonable amount of sauce for no charge, in fact when you sit at a table you get a jar of it to use however much you want.
Clearly, I was upset that they were not giving me more sauce because it's essential to the flavor for me, but she insisted it would be two dollars. I kept what I had and left saying I would not be back. Then I stopped at Raleys and bought a jar. My food was cold by the time I got home.
I really try to support local business, but come on. Customer service is key if you want to keep my business. Especially with inflation the way it is, my money is too valuable to give it away on a business that clearly doesn't care about the customer. They'd rather have an unhappy customer and a bad Yelp review than fill up the tiny cup for someone who spent $65 on takeout 2 nights in a row.
I just moved to the neighborhood and they could have had a new loyal customer, but there are plenty of other places around to go to instead.
