The Best Restaurants In Dumbo & Brooklyn Heights - New York - The Infatuation

"If you can’t bear the thought of sitting at a restaurant packed with remote tech workers at lunch, go to Thai Sidewalk instead. This street cart in Dumbo makes solid food, and you’ll probably spend around $15 on a meal. Our favorites are the pad see ew and the curry puffs, but if they have the lobster roll, which costs $20 and is overflowing with huge chunks of lobster lightly dressed in peppery mayo, order it. Walk a block or so to Pebble Beach and have your Thai takeout with a view." - willa moore, bryan kim, sonal shah, molly fitzpatrick, carina finn koeppicus, hannah albertine

Thai Sidewalk - Review - DUMBO - New York - The Infatuation

"If you can’t bear the thought of sitting at a restaurant packed with hot moms and remote tech workers for lunch, go to Thai Sidewalk instead. This street cart makes solid food, and you’ll probably spend around $15 for lunch. The real power move, though, is to get the lobster roll, which only costs $20, is quite literally overflowing with huge chunks of lobster meat, and is lightly dressed with a peppery mayo that makes us wish all lobster rolls had this much flavor. Apart from that, our favorites here are the pad see ew and the curry puffs, but you can’t really go wrong. Walk a block or so to Pebble Beach and have your Thai takeout with a view. It beats a sad desk salad any day of the week." - Carina Finn

Google
This is THE place for Thai food in dumbo. What a treat for lunch. $10 for pad see ew with tofu in this economy? The food is great, prices are unbeatable, and the portions are generous. Cash/venmo only (maybe cashapp/zelle but not 100% sure).

Google
Found this little gem while in the area and I am glad I did. Ordered the shrimp summer roll and chicken with basil sauce over rice and was not disappointed. Everything was made quickly, so no long wait and the flavors were all spot on and delicious. Will definitely be back to try there other dishes.

Google
Really really nice thai food .... Family run business.. The food is super clean and very tasty. It's a very small cart but it definitely delivers . Chicken dumplings were real nice. The summer roll was very tasty and well put together. The noodle dishes are definitely the star of their show ....its hard not to say but the noodles are definitely some of the best in the area. If your in dumbo give them a try Front street and pearl

Google
My favorite Thai spot (better than the neighboring restaurants!) Love the new addition of the quick bites. The shaken chicken is 😍😍😍! can’t wait to try their chive cakes Ps. Never change/ never leave!

Yummmm! Great food truck, delicious dishes.

Google
Extremely cute food cart. Cheap and way better than most generic Thai restaurants in this city. When you choose vegetarian options, the vegetables they use are perfect. No weird filler baby corn and bell peppers, just nice quantity of veggies u actually want to eat.

Google
this place is 🔥— super tasty, fast and friendly + basil chicken over rice was great deal given nice portion and reasonable price. very helpful and knowledgeable re ingredients to navigate gluten allergy. definitely will be back! A++

Google
THIS IS A THAI STAND that sells really good thai food. Got the Pak Kee Mao and Basil fried rice with extra spice and it was so good. It was stir fried with the right amount of flame to bring out the flavor and fragrance. It's a small place with BIG FLAVORS! MUST TRY!!

Yelp
What a gem of a food truck. Not only is the food good and the portions solid, it's completely affordable and service is lightning fast. This is what New York used to be and I'm shocked to find it in Dumbo of all places but I'm not complaining. Big fan of their peppery Pad See Yu. Gem of a spot if you work in the area, do not sleep on it.

Yelp
Thai Sidewalk is such special fixture of DUMBO! I've seen halal and breakfast carts throughout NYC, but this was my first thai street food cart, and it was delicious! You pay digitally and the prices are very reasonable. I got a fresh order of Chicken Pad See Ew, which was stir fried and cooked perfectly (better than sit down places I've had). Also they gave a decent amount of chicken. The service was friendly and quick. They're not here on all days and would definitely advise checking their hours.

Yelp
I'm usually a little skeptical of street cart food but reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. I got tofu pad see ew and it was super flavorful and the perfect portion at only $11. I was there around 230pm and there was no line so the food came out super quick. Since this is walking distance from my job I will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Cute food truck. Very good food and Thai iced coffee. Quick and courteous. I ordered ahead and it was ready when I arrived shortly thereafter.

Yelp
The best lunch option in Dumbo and it's not even close. Try the Pad See Ew with a fried egg on top!

J F.

Yelp
Pineapple fried rice with shrimp $13 Fried Egg $1 Shrimp - still raw Fried egg - Not fried. It was premade and reheated with some parts still cold Fried rice - Too much spice (curry powder I think) and oily. Probably premade too and reheated Service - Ok ($1 tip) Ambiance - Small street cart (3 workers in cramped conditions) Total $15

Yelp
Good addition to the selection of street food in DUMBO. I tried their fried rice with basil and chicken. It was quite tasty. Don't order spicy if you can't take too much pepper: I ordered mild and it was still spicy enough for me.

Yelp
Honestly it's so close to the F train by york st and this is probably one of the best thai food food truck I ever had in my life. Shrimp summer roll plus shrimp/beef pad see ew $22. ugh it was so good I came here before going to a gym workout because I was so hungry. Best decision I ever made. this is a highly recommended food truck. I got no regrets. thank you!

Yelp
My local go to Thai lunch spot for some quick noodles or rice. Hits the spot and quick. Great prices and awesome service. Get it.

Jenn Y.

Yelp
They literally gave a quarter, not even 1/2 a piece of shrimp for the summer rolls. So I couldnt finish the summer rolls, really disappointing as there was basically no filling vs other places. Thai iced tea was good though.

Yelp
Good quality and affordable Thai food. It is really hard to find a good lunch takeout in Dumbo and I think this place is one of the rare takeout places in Dumbo.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious Thai food in a food cart located in Dumbo. Affordable lunch with good sized portions. Around $8-10 for pad Thai, spicy basil fried rice, pad see ew, etc. price varies depending on the choice of protein. Usually there's a line and longer wait time during lunch time hours. There is a number you can call if you want to order ahead to avoid the lines and lessen your wait time. I love their Thai iced tea, only $3, but sometimes they don't fill it all the way up to the top :(. Super friendly owner/workers. Not much asian food options in Dumbo, so I recommend their Thai food if you're craving for some delicious asian food.

Yelp
I was so excited because I heard amazing things and clearly the reviews are great but I'm so shocked by how horrible the food was. So many of my pad see ew noodles were stuck flat together (meaning none were coated in sauce) my basil fried rice had no basil in it (?) and was so unseasoned. The appetizers were incredibly bland and just not worth it.

Yelp
First place I ate out post-quarantine. I was in the DUMBO area and I wanted food that I can easily take to the park. I was also craving Thai food and fell upon this Thai cart near the picturesque DUMBO streets. I love street carts because they are so cheap, but also delicious! I ordered a Vegetable Pad Thai (it comes with egg yum) and a side of Thai Iced Tea. I waited for the food for less than 10 mins. They gave us tissues and utensils and we were off. The food was steamy hot, the iced tea was cold, and the food tasted so fresh. I paid less than $20 for two whole meals and a drink. City prices could never. The proximity of the street cart to the Brooklyn Bridge Park was the best part. I didn't have to walk too far out to get some food since the street cart was just 2 blocks away. The only problem was it was cash-only. For the first time, I had cash so I was able to pay. There is an ATM nearby if you need to take cash out though.

Yelp
I got the pad thai which was sooo good. Prices did go up though. Attached is the current prices as of December 2021.

Yelp
I was in the area for a meeting and caught a whiff of a delicious sauce wafting through the air. I popped into a few places, only to be disappointed when the origin was not there. I almost gave up until I saw a long line of people against a building drooling and waiting for something coming from a small food trailer. Walked across the street and BINGO, the wonderful scent was found! Thai Sidewalk, how do you do?! The people suggested anything was good they were all regulars from various walks of life and boy they were right. Every single bag smelled heavenly. And they looked like they'd won the lottery when their order was called. The sweet lady who took my order convinced me to go with the pad see ew and I am glad for it! Pipping hot, original style with Chinese broccoli (no weird cheap veggie subs here) with that sauce only a good Thai street style cook can make. Rounded our with a thai tea, my order was $13, and a easy tip in the jar kept lunch under $20. Yes I will come back, it's such a tasty place

Yelp
This place was always an affordable option whenever I was in office at work. They have the staples you would expect from any Thai restaurant such as Pad See Ew, Pineapple Fried Rice, Pad Thai, etc. I always go for the Pad See Ew and am never disappointed. It's nothing super mind-blowing, but the owners are kind, patient, and started to make my food while I went to the Chase to withdraw some cash. I spend less than $10 for lunch, which is super cheap compared to other places around here.

Yelp
I work nearby and wanted something quick, I called ahead and asked if they took card and the woman who picked up said no. However when I checked their reviews on here someone said they do. It was after 2pm so they didn't have any more chicken, which left me with shrimp or veggies. I went with shrimp and also ordered a Thai iced tea. The food was okay tbh, the shrimp was fresh and pretty big but flavor wise it was a little basic. Also didn't like the fact that they charged me to use my card, that's a direct violation of the merchant agreement that they have with visa.
google avatar

Yelp
This little food cart pumps out delicious restaurant quality Thai food! I've tried the Pad Thai and some other stuff here several times and it's always been delicious, fresh and served up quickly. Lunch will run you around $10 and that's a pretty good deal given the other restaurant options in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Somehow I've had some of my best lunches in DUMBO from the tiny cart that is Thai Sidewalk. It's tiny but packs massive taste! The noodle and curry dishes are mostly less than $10 and a solid serving My favorites are the chicken pad thai and pad see ew. If you call ahead you can just come pick up your order in 10-15 min and it'll be ready for you! Also, they prefer cash but take card (but they will pass on the credit card charge to you). For the taste and portion size, it's definitely one of my go tos for a quick DUMBO lunch. They pack everything for you in a bag so you can easily walk over to eat by the waterfront!
google avatar

Steven T.

Yelp
Great, best pad Thai in the area by a wide margin. Highly recommend, my go to lunch spot.
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
Absolutely insane. Today was my first time trying Thai Sidewalk after many many times I walked pass by smelled the heavenly deliciousness. Where do we start. If you walk around dumbo you can't miss Thai sidewalk because walking near its perimeter you'll immediately be allured to the smell of MAGIC!!!!!!!Suprisingly tastes exactly 10000000times better than it smells which I didnt know was possible. Kind friendly owner and the kitchen area, though small, seemed very clean and sanitary. I will 100% revisit and its ur loss if u dont try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Natasha E.

Yelp
The yummiest. Sooo gooood. Probably should order ahead due to the long line but besides that no complaints. Fair price, good portions and their food is delicious. Have tried almost everything except green curry. No disappointment.
google avatar

Nisarga M.

Yelp
Love this no-frills and inexpensive truck! I always get the pad kee mao or the basil fried rice and it's good quality and delicious every time. The woman who works there is really nice and welcoming! I call ahead and order my food since it can quite crowded at lunch time. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mariyam E.

Yelp
FOOD was so good and fresh. I had chicken basil fried rice and Thai ice tea The chicken basil was spicy , but was so good. They wear a mask and gloves while cooking your food which is very sanitary. Pretty sure they will open their own restaurant soon
google avatar

Jenel H.

Yelp
Plenty of times this little sidewalk food truck has saved me from hunger on my lunch break! I've had every dish on the menu, they're so good! Chicken Pad Thai, curry puffs, chicken puffs are my favorite! I haven't had their drinks (my job has endless things to drink) but I wouldn't doubt that they're delicious too! Con: On the lunch breaks the lines are long... you should call in before you go but a disclaimer that they'll probably be too busy to answer.
google avatar

Stacy G.

Yelp
I just ate the worst Massaman curry I have every had. It was extremely watery, there was only partially cooked white onions, very under-cooked crunchy carrots, a decent amount of shrimp albeit (my choice of protein), but no green beans! Plus the curry was extremely coconut-y and hardly any other flavors, it was almost sweet. I've been trying and trying this place, been disappointed in the past with their portions and lack of sauce/flavor (Pad Thai, Pad See Ew), but today I just couldn't not write a review. This sucks because there aren't really other Thai options nearby...
google avatar

Kit F.

Yelp
Thai sidewalk cart with orders ready in five minutes! Brings me back to the street food of Thailand. Delicious but a tad bit expensive. It's hard to blame them for price increases with the pandemic but maybe they'll return to normal costs soon. Can't wait to stop by for lunch this week!
google avatar

Ashwini D.

Yelp
Fabulous lunch option available in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighborhood. A little cart can feed so many people is a wonder! Try this superly-duperly affordable cart food that they have open from 10.30 - 4.00 pm when I asked them. I tried their Red Curry and rice without eggs and whattawow! and the quantity is quite huge for a meal. The curry itself was quite coconut-y and thick and perfectly blanched carrots, bok choy. All this for $8! I am so so glad I work in this neighborhood, its going to be my regular go-to place.
google avatar

Eve C.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with my first and only visit. I ordered the chicken curry. The taste was phenomenal (hence the 3 stars). I However, my dish brought no more than 3 or 4 thin (almost ground) slices of chicken about the size of a quarter. I seriously would give more food to a toddler--Was seriously disappointed by the portion and finished lunch with a big bottle of green tea and was still left hungry. I won't be back :(
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
I haven't been inspired to post a review in quite some time but this cart deserves it. Amazing what they are putting out of that little street cart. No wonder there are always people waiting. I had the chicken pad se ew and chicken dumplings. Served hot and fresh. The sauce for the dumplings is pretty ridiculous! Great spot! Very nice people as well.
google avatar

Yelp
A big fan of this little food cart that popped up in DUMBO near the office! I've ordered a handful of times already in the past couple weeks, including: - Pad See Ewe - Pad Thai - Basil Fried Rice This is the Thai food that one would expect from a native Thai household. It is a tad on the greasy end and higher on the carb-to-meat ratio. Everything is flavorful and filling. Price-wise, it is in line with what you'd expect in the area. The menu is based on your choice of meat/veggie that goes with your dish: veggie ($7), chicken ($8), or shrimp ($9). I only wish that they add beef to the list of options. For the basil fried rice, be prepared for a good kick (spicy)! The Thai ice tea, while it does satisfy my craving, isn't as good as others that I've tried -- missing a stronger tea flavor, to me. Call ahead if you can -- super friendly service.
google avatar

Jieun L.

Yelp
I can eat here every day, it's that good! My favor I'd green curry and chicken basil fried rice! Same every day!
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
I eat Thai probably twice a week from a number of different places, and this was the best meal I've had in a year.
google avatar

Prakob O.

Yelp
I eat. Pad Thai there very delicious really yummy and real Thai chef and specially Thai ice tea it's the best

Eric C.

Yelp
Quick, cheap (especially for DUMBO) and delicious. The pad kee mao and basil fried rice are both fantastic with a good amount of heat from the spice. Thai Sidewalk has become a frequent lunch destination as I work nearby and look forward to returning many times in the future.

George S.

Yelp
I like this little truck a lot, it's a great feature in DUMBO for affordable, timely, and good lunches. The key (at least for me) is to call in advance, and come down from the office to pick up the food ten or fifteen minutes later. I like the noodles and the option they added this winter (maybe every winter?) to put a fried egg on top for $1 more. BUT, there are two things that stop me from coming here more: 1. The plastic containers and utensils. Most places in DUMBO now use paper/compostable stuff, but this place is stuck in the past. So I have kind of stopped going here regularly, because the plastic waste just depresses me at this point. Thai Sidewalk, if you read this, please consider changing your packaging to more eco-friendly items! 2. There are no real green vegetables here. If they had a 'side of greens' option, and eco packaging, I would come here once or twice a week, year-round.

Jonathan M.

Yelp
My new favorite food cart hands down. I am obsessed with their chicken with basil sauce over rice. It's so savory. If you can't take the spice or can't have spice for health reasons, you can actually ask them not to add any spice. They're absolutely wonderful. I haven't really tried anything else on the menu, but I highly recommend trying Thai Sidewalk if you're in the area.

Darlene J.

Yelp
Thai sidewalk was a pleasant surprise today , Delicious food and fast service always a gets me. I highly recommend

Veronica M.

Yelp
Really yummy food :) Like the other reviewers mentioned, great prices and above-average portions, taste, and ingredient quality. Pad see ew was particularly good; in fact, it was better than some of the Thai restaurants I typically go to in the LES. Calling ahead is always a good idea. Side note: They take card, but the better thing to do is to bring cash. The point-of-sale for these small restaurants charge egregiously high fees (Toast charges companies nearly 2% on the swipe + 15 cents per transaction.... so when you pay with card, you're increasing the profits of those companies at the expense of small business owners).
google avatar

Janelle B.

Yelp
Fast. Affordable. Friendly and thankfully near my job. I'm so happy that this cart is in Dumbo. I ordered shrimp pad see ew and forgot to take a picture. It just looked/smelled so good and I had to have it right away. I was not disappointed! I ate the entire thing right away. It was so good!
google avatar

Kaylyn A.

Yelp
I'm addicted! Authentic, flavorful Thai dishes. The portions are spot on, and the blend of spices and flavors is fantastic. The couple(?) who owns it are so warm and friendly - I would support them for that alone. Plus, not many folks stay around Dumbo after the sun starts to go down, but Thai Sidewalk will be there for you when it's freezing cold, raining, etc.
google avatar

Crosby I.

Yelp
This is a great affordable option in dumbo in a sea of places that are expensive. I would recommend the rice dishes they have more flavor. The pad Thai is kind of lack luster. Very friendly people very fast.
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai spot. I highly recommend the Kua Gai with an egg on top, the thick noodles taste delicious and full of flavor, then breaking the egg yoke on top makes it out of this world.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Great value. Food is consistently good. Keep it Thai spicy!! Be patient when order is being prepared, totally worth it.
google avatar

Samuel G.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch spot and really affordable (love it so much I eat here 2-3x a week)

Patrick H.

Yelp
Great Thai Street food! I walk by this place all of the time and finally ordered from the cart. We got ice tea, Pineapple rice with shrimp and Pad See Eew with chicken. It was all very good and tasted like I was back in Bangkok getting street food. We called ahead and it was ready in 10 mins. They are super friendly. Don't be afraid to check them out!

Venus W.

Yelp
Food was good.. I had their food 4 days straight when I went to visited my mom in NY and she was enjoyed the food. Fast and good service. This guy so friendly. Definitely I'm going back again.

David H.

Yelp
I got the Chicken in Basil Sauce, medium spicy, and it was excellent--exactly as ordered, with nicely sliced white meat chicken. I will be back. Dave
