Need Halal Dining Options in Las Vegas? Jainine Jaffer from Shiraz Has You Covered | Eater Vegas

"A longtime favorite of mine is Thai Spice — I’ve been going there regularly for the past 15 years or so, and I couldn’t be happier than when I have the spicy basil eggplant or some vegetarian pad Thai (extra spicy, of course!)." - Susan Stapleton

Wow! What an awesome place! I wish we had this place at my hometown, I’d be there every day dining. Food is absolutely fantastic, very tasty and healthy. Great ambience and service. The restaurant won many rewards and I totally agree with that. It’s very close to the airport. Thank you for your delicious food and hospitality ! We will be back when visiting Albuquerque again.

Google
Thai Spice, you saucy little legend—you’ve officially ruined all other Thai food for us. Let’s set the scene: It’s date night. We’re hungry. We’re adventurous. We want noodles, spice, and a little culinary magic. Enter Thai Spice, stage left, ready to deliver a full-blown flavor mic drop. We kicked things off with the fried dumplings because, let’s be honest, it’s not a real meal without something fried to start the party. These dumplings weren’t just good—they were make-you-close-your-eyes-and-slow-chew good. Crispy little clouds of glory stuffed with seasoned perfection. If there were more, we would have fought each other for the last one. Probably to the death. My wife ordered the cashew stir fry, which arrived looking like a Pinterest food board and tasting like a wok full of dreams. The veggies were fresh, the sauce was rich and just the right amount of sticky, and those cashews? Honey, they were roasted to crunchy, nutty royalty status. I went full flavor-commando and ordered the drunken noodles—because sometimes you want your noodles sloppy, spicy, and just a little scandalous. And Thai Spice delivered. Wide noodles swimming in bold, garlicky sauce, with just the right heat level to make your tastebuds throw a rave. It was one of those meals where you keep eating even after you’re full because you don’t want the magic to end. (RIP to my leftovers plan.) But wait—dessert. Thai. Tapioca. Let me just say this: if you’ve never had Thai tapioca before, this is your sign from the starch gods. It’s creamy, lightly sweet, a little chewy, and somehow the perfect cool-down after the spice parade. It’s like a cozy rice pudding and a coconut milk spa day had a delicious baby. And now for the true MVP of the evening: Pim, our waitress. Pim is the kind of server who makes you feel like you’ve known her forever. She’s adorable, attentive, and somehow manages to appear exactly when you need her—like a food ninja in the best way. Pim, if you’re reading this, you’re a national treasure. Bottom line: Thai Spice is a hidden gem that should be on everyone’s radar. If you’re in Albuquerque and not eating here, I assume you either hate joy or got lost on the way to flavor town. We’ll be back. Probably weekly. Possibly tomorrow.

Google
Thai Spice delivered a delightful dining experience with a mix of vibrant flavors and generous portions. Our meal included a variety of dishes: beef salad, ginger stir-fry with beef, sweet and sour chicken stir-fry, fresh spring rolls, fried rolls, and sticky rice for dessert. Starting with the appetizers, the fresh spring rolls were generously sized and bursting with freshness, while the fried rolls were simply amazing, crispy on the outside and flavorful inside. Moving on to the main courses, both the beef salad and ginger stir-fry with beef impressed with their tender meat and crunchy vegetables. The sweet and sour chicken stir-fry was a hit as well, perfectly balancing tangy and sweet flavors. Despite a busy dining room, the service was commendable though the food did take a bit longer to arrive, which was understandable given the freshness and cooking to order. Highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the sticky rice dessert, which we all loved for its rich, satisfying sweetness. Overall, Thai Spice offers a memorable dining experience with delicious food that's worth the wait. We look forward to returning to explore more of their menu. Went back the next day for more and the service was very quick even though they were quite busy. Love this place.

Google
Great lunch. One of my new favorite spots for sure! Great food, atmosphere, price and service.

Google
Thai Spice is my favorite Thai restaurant in Albuquerque. Their massaman curry and rice is my absolute favorite, and if you’re looking for the best pad thai in ABQ, you’ve found the place. Wonderful service and kind people. Just beware, as someone who thoroughly enjoys spice, do not take their spice labels lightly! Hot = HOT

Gina B.

Google
Best Thai food in Albuquerque! The service is fast and friendly. Many great options to choose from.

Google
Ate here 11/20. came in around 13:30 to a busy restaurant and thought wow, maybe this will be good. Got a seat about 10-15 minutes later so not bad, so far, ordered egg rolls, the pork pad Thai, hot but not Thai hot, and a cucumber salad. Received my egg rolls in 3 minutes, so I know they were pre-cooked and sitting under a hot lamp, they were the standard pork egg rolls that you can get from any grocery store freezer isle nothing special and definitely not hand made. The Pad Thai was bland, mushy and uniformly brown, again probably pre-cooked and warmed up by chief Microwave. There were hardly any vegetables and what was there were mealy and washed out, there was a touch of heat but it tasted like it came from Cayenne powder rather than fresh chilis. I never received my cucumber salad and had it removed from my bill later. Service was fine, nothing wrong, but also nothing special either, waitress refilled my drink quickly without being asked so that was good and gave me no pushback when I told them about the missing salad so another plus. Overall a nice restaurant, busy at times but standard low to mid quality food that doesn’t represent anything special about Thai cuisine. Would be unlikely to give it a second thought.

Google
Excellent Thai food. Prices are on par if not the most reasonable in the city. The location is far from where we normally dine but this was worth trying as many people claim it’s good - and they are not wrong. The Pad Thai is actually a little fishier than most places but the texture and taste were still amazing. Their pineapple curry was incredible. Full of flavor and nearly authentic (since we were just in Thailand and had plenty of delicious curry). Considering we (USA) don’t have all the correct ingredients to make the best curry around, this was as good as you can get.

Yelp
So, we ended up trying this place out because SA thai is not open on Sundays. With that, great business model Thai Spice. This place is super neat, with open views, and is easy to get to. I still don't know why most parking lots that I have been to do not open to the main road, but ok. We have slightly sensitive stomachs when it comes to spice. We had alittle spice with Pad Thai and Yellow curry. Absolutely delicious meals, and the flavor is banging. I mean, it's delicious. Even when eaten as leftovers the next day, the food is absolutely awesome. So kudos there. The only issue we had, I think it came more from the pad thai, but jesus christ. This stuff cleared out our digestive track pretty well. I mean, it was the last thing we ate for the day and our lunch was'nt much. Holy frick. Was it worth alittle upset stomach, sure. Anyway, if you are not good with spice. I guess be careful? lol

Yelp
Ate here last night while traveling through Albuquerque after checking reviews. The restaurant was steady the whole time we were there. My standards are high for Thai food. It's not the taste I'm use to. The papaya salad didn't have the lime taste I love and had lettuce instead of cabbage, cabbage gives it more crunch. My daughter had the chicken pad Thai and even though it was good, the chicken was bland. The fried banana was good but I should have asked without chocolate. Again, I always want authentic Thai food with the tastes that are familiar to me.

Yelp
This place has best of burque awards all over the wall for a reason. This place is top notch Thai food. First of all it might also be the restaurant with the fastest service I've seen in town. I got my appetizer about 2 minutes after I ordered and my main dish about 5 minutes after I finished my spring rolls. They keep the drinks full. It is nice and clean inside but it gets full and the seating is a little cramped. I also love how at a Thai place when you ask for hot spices level they don't play around, the heat really kicks you in the balls. I appreciate that, the food is great don't let the corny shopping center location fool you.

Yelp
I can't believe this weekend was my first time here! Thai Spice is a small restaurant with great food and fantastic ambiance. It was packed when I went in for lunch at 2pm on a Sunday, which is a testament to its delicious, high quality food. I absoluetly loved the chicken satay and pad thai. The cucumber salad and peanut sauce that came with the satay were both sooo tasty! My pad thai was perfect, I got the medium heat level and it was enough spice without smoking you out. I will definitely be back when I am hankering for Thai! I need to try the massaman curry next!

Yelp
Solid Thai spot that seemed pretty busy on a weekday night. I ordered for pickup and it was super quick and easy. In a plaza with some other restaurants but there's a good amount of parking out front. It was a little difficult to find at first because it's right on the street but you have to drive in from behind and it's right next to a bunch of other parking lots that aren't connected Pad see ew with fried tofu: 5/5. Looked kind of scary at first because the noodles looked very dry but once I mixed it the sauce was really good and I actually liked it a lot. The fried tofu was also good Mango sticky rice: 4/5. Good flavor but way too much coconut milk

Yelp
Solid spot for good Thai food! Our group of four ordered a bunch of dishes and shared them eating "family style." My favorite was the drunken noodles. Picked the shrimp for my protein. Second favorite dish was the chicken pad Thai. The chicken satay appetizer was also good. The Tom Yum soup was a favorite of some at the meal. We all agreed that the Panang Curry was our least favorite. I think it needed to cook longer. The sauce was watery and lacking flavor. Pineapple fried rice was also really good. Service was prompt and friendly and this is definitely a spot we would go back for.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch with a friend and it was delicious! It got busy around lunch time but service was efficient. I'll definitely go back to try other dishes!

Yelp
A news article framed on the wall of Thai Spice described the restaurant as reliable, and I have to agree. We split an app and ordered two different noodle dishes. Both entrees were solid, though the service was quite slow - even for a Saturday night. The wait for two around 5:30 was said to be 20 minutes, though I believe we were seated in about 15. The wait for our noodles, however, was at least 25 minutes...and the party of three seated after us received their food a good 5-10 minutes before we did. The restaurant was busy but did not appear under-staffed, so I'm not sure what caused the delay. For app, the fresh summer roll with chicken was tasty and well complemented by the house-made plum sauce. My only note is that it could've been rolled more tightly. For dinner, I liked my pad see ew with beef, and his chicken pad Thai was yummy though light on the veggies. Portions were very large, so we both brought home leftovers. Biggest complaint is on husband's behalf: The spicy isn't spicy. I'd read this in other Yelp reviews, but even after emphasizing that he wanted his pad Thai "very spicy," I was able to eat it...and I'm incredibly sensitive to heat. Hot is mild at best, so if spicy is a must for your Thai fix, Thai Spice isn't the establishment for you.

Yelp
Food amazing, friendly staff and we weren't rushed at all. Definitely recommend this place

Yelp
We picked this up to go recently and I was very happy with the green Thai curry I ordered. The website says there's no online ordering (or that it's unavailable) but you can actually order via Selflane which is great! The order was ready early which was great since the app requires at least an hour heads up which was surprising. I have a weakness for Thai curry and hadn't had it in forever- this totally hit the spot. It was a huge portion and just perfection. I ordered it with the 2nd level of spice (right below "Thai hot") and it was a good level of heat if you like spicy food. If you're more sensitive to heat, stick with the medium. There was a good amount of veggies as well as chicken. I can't speak to the service since we did takeout but when i went to pick it up they were efficient and quick. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
My friend brought me some takeout. Chicken Satay and Thai tea. It was delicious. I love that the menu has so many vegetarian options. I want to go back and give one of them a try.

Yelp
Yummy Massaman curry! Tom Kha is tops! Always great takeaway service! Nice clean setting.

Yelp
Located at Gallery row is Thai Spice. The portions are quite large and delicious. We visit Taos once a year and this is a must stop for us. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Saturday. December 9, 2023. Dinner. We lucked out. They had an empty table as soon as we walked in. Sat us down immediately. There is an outdoor patio, but no one sat there because of the freezing temperatures. I heard the waiter tell subsequent people walking in that it would be a 30-40-minute wait. They are located Northwest of Wyoming and Paseo Del Norte. Our waiter, Johnny, looked young and energetic. He told us the restaurant had been opened seven years. We ordered 2 shrimp spring rolls ($5.95). They were large but had very little shrimp inside. The vegetables inside didn't taste old, but they weren't super fresh either. I ordered the Jasmine tea ($2.50). The tea came in a heavy, black metal tea pot with two tea bags and a black metal cup. I liked the presentation, and the tea had a nice, light floral flavor. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with seafood ($15.95). I believe the seafood included mussels, shrimp, squid and some sort of fish. Johnny told me that the Thai Spice level was hot. He joked that I couldn't send it back. So, I ordered that level and found it to be not hot at all. I had to add Sriracha to it. Johnny checked on us multiple times during our meal. He had a pleasant, positive attitude. The restaurant is decorated impeccably, with swimming fish, multi-colored upside-down umbrellas hanging from the ceiling, romantic lighting and modern artwork on the walls. I can attest, from personal experience, that the men's bathroom was very clean inside. Let me be honest, this isn't the best Thai cuisine in Burque. It was a bit bland and not very spicy. However, the service and ambiance were hitting the mark and the prices are reasonable. If you want an average Thai meal, this is your spot.
google avatar

Catherine D.

Yelp
We sat there ignored while at least 8 tables came in after us, got served , ate and left. Then we finally were asked what we would like to drink. WE LEFT. There was only two of us and we were patient . That was unacceptable.

Monica B.

Yelp
I enjoyed the shrimp and fried rice dish. I like the atmosphere and staff is friendly. Parking lot is small. A little more expensive than other Thai restaurant . Staff is friendly

Yelp
Flavor galore! Service is top notch!! The location is a little hidden, although it is right off Paseo Del Norte, we tend to drive by so fast that you may have missed it. I had the pineapple curry with shrimp and a cold Thai Tea. Very nice portion size. The flavor combination was so delicious! Plenty of comfortable seating.

Yelp
We are so happy to have found this place! It has quickly become our favorite simply because the service is friendly and attentive, the food is fresh, hot & tasty and the vibe is perfect for going solo or with others. We have been several times and have not been disappointed!

Yelp
Overall my favorite Thai restaurant in Albuquerque! Even better than a lot of Thai restaurants I've been to in California! Service has always been great. Sometimes there is a long wait. I really enjoy the beef pad Thai and the drunken noodles! Somewhat crowded restaurant for Albuquerque but overall a nice environment. I feel like the highest spice level is too spicy to enjoy - this is coming from someone who loves spice. Try to papaya salad while you are at Thai Spicy, make sure to get it at least medium spicy!
google avatar

Devry A.

Yelp
Delicious food and atmosphere was very welcoming and clean. Everyone we tried was delicious. We shared Pad Thai chicken fried rice and chicken satay appetizer. Would definitely go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service. We had Knock as our waiter. He is an amazing waiter. The food was excellent

Janis S.

Yelp
One of our favorite go to places. Got take out, food was cold and just not as good as usual. The normal manager/owner was not there ???
google avatar

Nancy P.

Yelp
Been here multiple times and have ordered for dine ins and take outs. Food is consistently delicious and portions are generous for the price. Thai hot is really hot! Service is quick despite how busy they are. My favorite Thai spot that will be hard to beat!

Walt S.

Yelp
I have eaten at EVERY Thai restaurant in town. Without a doubt, Thai Spice is the best. The quality of the ingredients and preparation is outstanding. Heat level is more on the mild side, so order accordingly. A little tricky to find off of Paseo, but worth the effort! It does get very crowded, so keep that in mind. A great place for great Thai food!
google avatar

Bryan V.

Yelp
We came on a Wednesday night about an hour before closing. We had the massaman curry and pad thai. My girlfriend loves the curry here and wanted to show me a good spot while visiting from out of town. I ordered the pad thai with chicken and hot spicy level. Because of the bowl used to serve the noodles, it was soggy and way too sauced. I'm pretty sure they forgot to spice it up because there was no spice at all. I was hungry and at that point didn't care about the spice level was. It was the run of the mill pad thai for me. The curry my girlfriend had was good, that is something I would get myself and a strong recommendation. Her dish was spiced up correctly. We mentioned the spicy level to our server at the end of the meal. The decor is pretty nice and everyone was polite. This place is good, but they missed the mark on my dish. I would come back to try other things.
google avatar

John D.

Yelp
Haven't been here for awhile - but business brought us nearby so a stop was in order. It was in the middle of the lunch rush but we were seated quickly. We ordered Pad Thai & Yellow Curry dishes -medium heat. The Egg Drop soup came out first and after a short wait the entrees arrived. Food was excellent, heat was right on target. The curry was thick and delicious. Pad Thai was tasty and not dried out. Quality is still there & service was good. Great meal on a cold day.
google avatar

Sharon Y.

Yelp
Food was not good. Dishes lacked Asian vegetables mostly onions and celery. We waited more than an hour for take out food. We were told 30-40 minutes. No peanut sauce for the spring rolls.
google avatar

Konrad J.

Yelp
"Thai no-spice." I tried Thai Spice again thinking perhaps on my one other previous visit they had an off night when the food was bland. Unfortunately that was not the case. This time I tried the pineapple fried rice with tofu, medium spice. The tofu was tough, and the dish somewhat wet, which I don't enjoy in rice dishes. The pineapple fried rice inexplicably came without pineapple, so it was wet rice with a small bit of egg, a few carrots, tough tofu, and onions. The odd part is the dish was so disappointing in texture, taste, and spice, I didn't even notice the pineapple was missing until I left. The spice level was very low; I'd consider it mild. The service wasn't good. When we sat down, we were the first patrons in the restaurant just before the dinner crowd. Despite there being approximately five cooks and as many servers, they forgot I had ordered a dish, so my husband's dish came out long before mine. Even before they forgot my dish, the wait was very long, which was so odd considering there were only a few tables by the time we started eating. Last time I gave Thai Spice a 3, but I think a 2 this round is being generous. Both my hubby and I agreed we wouldn't be back.
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The table tried green curry and pad Thai and both were delicious. We went at lunch and their lunch specials included a soup, spring roles and a dessert. They were all good and prices for lunch very reasonable. Great service and a nice atmosphere. If you like Thai, try it!

Yelp
Good morning on another beautiful day in central New Mexico. Come join Tom Neiman, Jim Tritten, and assorted VA Creative Writing Group members as we venture out to Thai Spice, an award-winning restaurant located near Wyoming and Paseo del Norte in the Northeast Heights. Excellent food, attentive service, and interesting decor make Thai Spice definitely worth your patronage. Yelp
Thai Spice is my go to for Thai in all of the more Northern part of New Mexico which you see I have to go south from Santa Fe to get. Don't even try with Thai food in Santa Fe, I wont get started... Thai Spice delivers. The food is flavorful, has the complexity and depth of flavor i expect from various dishes and always tastes fresh. The service is quick and efficient and dependable and the ambiance is big, open and has beautiful traditional decor. I usually get the drunken noodles, chicken satay but have tried a few other things throughout the years. I appreciate the chicken satay has the creamy peanut sauce instead of the see through chili sauce I have gotten in tons of other places throughout New Mexico. I appreciate having this place to fill my Thai food cravings. Thanks Thai Spice!

Greg T.

Yelp
My wife and I have been patrons of this place for a number of years now and have always enjoyed the food....but today it was disappointing to say the least. It was way too salty! The soup was too thick and salty. and the heat was not not hot enough. We did not enjoy it like we had in the past. So Sad!
google avatar

Veronica P.

Yelp
The food was fresh and presentable. There were many people on a Friday night and the ambience was delightful. The staff treated us with respect and did their best to tend to our requests.
google avatar

Hollie T.

Yelp
Food is mid at best. Curry was watery and had way too much oil floating at the top. Sauce for dumplings was basically just oil too. Hardly any flavor overall
google avatar

Bill B.

Yelp
Probably the best Thai food I've had in Abq. The Pad Thai was exceptional as was the chicken curry. Fairly priced and service was prompt.
google avatar

Juan B.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai place in ABQ. Food is amazing, staff is super friendly. They can get really busy and it might take a few tries on the phone if you're getting take out. Well worth it. 100% recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
The food rocks! Fresh tasting and burns so good. The place is clean and has a good vibe. Nice restrooms too. The staff is friendly. Keeps me going back!

Yelp
Best Thai food ever! I try to stop here whenever I'm in Albuquerque. This place has a great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious. I highly recommend that you try this place. If you don't care for spicy food, you can ask for mild, medium or hot and spicy.

Karthi K.

Yelp
Decent ambiance. Visited few times and the taste didn't change and always good. Fairly priced menu as well.
google avatar

Savannah R.

Yelp
Fantastic flavors, excellent quality and a great ambience in the restaurant. Every one of the workers is great and works hard to provide the best experience. I always recommend it to everyone I can!

Yelp
Great food, good service, nice atmosphere, clean restrooms. I arrived at 11am just as they opened. There was five tables seated and a few people ordering take out. The phone was ringing constantly too! This gem of a restaurant is just as I remember it pre Covid. Extremely busy however, delivers amazing food with stellar service.

Mary C.

Yelp
Ever since I moved here eight years ago I've looking for a really good Thai restaurant and I finally found it!!!

Taffy T.

Yelp
All I can say is yummy, yummy. I had the curry pineapple. It was great. Brought half of it home so had two great meals!
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry nice folks at Thai Spice, you're not measuring up just yet. This is safe Thai food that'll satisfy crowds in the Heights, and perhaps that's what you're looking for, if so, look no further. It's always been my theory that, because Albuquerque is a populace of spicy food fanatics, our Asian food scene (save Chinese) is better than your average American town. Hence, it's pretty easy to taste the difference between eateries that go the extra mile to standout. Neither my Larb or her Pra Ram were A) Great nor B) Poor, they landed in the "eh" category, same went for the spring rolls. Looking for a side hustle? They could use more help, service was nearly non-existent. But for a lightly refreshing, easy meal on a patio -- the dining room's quite nice as well -- you can't go wrong with Thai Spice. You just can't neccessarily go right.
google avatar

Maria H.

Yelp
Our normal go to Thai place was closed so we had to make a decision and chose Thai spice. The wait wasn't very long and the staff was quick to attending to us. We ordered way more than what was pictured but everyone ate into right away. Originally ordered was the sweet and sour fish, sweet and sour chicken (pictured), combo fried rice (pictured), shrimp tempura, dumplings, sticky mango rice, and thai tea. All the food was delicious and comparable to our normal go to place. Definitely recommend this place if you need a good Thai fix and you're near paseo!
google avatar

Sam M.

Yelp
The staff was pleasant. The atmosphere was good buttttt it was the most Americanized Thai food I had in my life. It had no traditional flavors. I could tell the people that eat here don't even know what Thai food taste like. Keep it authentic people will still come. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Howard B.

Yelp
Winning combination! Good service & great food. Mr Spearmen was a great server, quickly attentive to our needs. Restaurant is very clean, good social distancing, & employees wearing mask. Really enjoyed the Large fresh Spring rolls with the peanut sauce. We were very happy with the amount of food per price we paid, even enough to have supper tonight. Rice was soft, vegetables were crisp & fresh. All sauces were outstanding. Many vegetarian choices if needed. You will not be disappointed with this restaurant. I highly recommend this place.
google avatar

Lamont W.

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch today. The restaurant was very clean and the service was great. The food was awesome, the only complaint was that they did not have sticky rice today. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls, egg rolls, coconut shrimp, Thai Pho, Drunken Noodles, and Seafood Pad Thai to go. Everything tasted great, and we enjoyed every bite. I highly recommend a visit.

Yelp
PERFECT FLAVOR!!! My second time there and the food is wonderful! I got there at 6pm and the place was busy so I waited 10 minutes for a table. Attractive interiors with umbrellas hanging all over the ceiling. Great menu w good descriptions. Service was very attentive and they didn't rush ppl. I ordered the Stir fried eggplant w veggies and Tofu plus the Yellow curry with Chicken. WINNERS! Neither were too hot but just the right amount of spices. I wanted the "wonderful" mango, sticky rice and coconut syrup dessert but was told mangos were out of season now since it's late November. Bummer!!!
