"Thai Star leans into the tiki vibes of Thailand with its decor. As for the menu, try the coconut soup, pineapple fried rice, and award-winning khao soi noodles. Don’t skip on an order of Thai coffee." - Courtney E. Smith, Amy McCarthy

Google
Great little spot my friend and I found while in Texas! The appetizers were really great! I had the egg rolls and the fried pot stickers! They made a special soup for me upon request. The vegetables were over cooked into the soup, but it still meant a lot that they made it for me! The atmosphere was awesome and I enjoyed the the guitarist named Guy. He played some good relaxing songs while we ate. The service was excellent and I was extremely satisfied overall! Definitely recommend this place!

Google
Service is amazing. Food is almost authentic. We tried veggie dumplings, they were amazing. Also tried chicken herb fried rice and pad see ew, both were on salty side but textures and tenderness were great. I think they used a little too much soy sauce or something that made the food taste more salty. But overall great experience.

Google
A nice hole in the wall Thai place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Service was quick and orders were out promptly. The food was good, but not the best Thai we’ve ever had. However, the prices were so good, portions were large and servers were attentive. A great experience overall.

From fragrant Tom Yum soup to mouthwatering curry Fried Rice, each dish is a culinary masterpiece. With attentive service and vibrant ambiance, it's a Thai dining experience you won't forget."

Google
We order for delivery from here all the time and everything is also so damn delicious! We haven’t had a bad dish or experience yet. We love that we can customize our dishes as well.

While living in Southeast Asia, I visited Thailand several times throughout the 2010s. Khao Soi is my favorite Thai dish, and it's really hard to find one that's anywhere as good as the ones you get in Chiang Mai. I can easily say that Thai Star has the best that I've had outside of northern Thailand! The rest of their menu also has very authentic flavors, very similar to what you'd find on the other side of the world. The service has also been very friendly and attentice over the course of many meals at Thai Star.

Google
We loved the food at Thai Star Addison. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Thanks Sue and Alphonso! The ambience is relaxed and cozy. We tried the sweet & sour chicken and the wok-tossed cashew stir fry. So delicious! We also shared a fantastic ice cream & pastry dessert; mango sorbet, drizzled with coconut cream served on a fried roti pastry. Just perfect. Can't wait to go back.

Thai Star is one of those great little places that is tucked away and hard to find, but once you do find it you’re glad you did! It’s located at the far end of a strip of restaurants and bars, farthest from Midway road. It’s a tiny, cozy restaurant with charming decor. The service is stellar, it was almost too attentive, if that’s possible. The meal arrived quickly and hot, the ingredients tasted very fresh, the sauces were flavorful and not overly salty. I ordered #2 out of 5 on the heat level and my husband ordered #3, I could just barely taste heat on my husband’s dish and none on mine, so their use of heat is very conservative. If you love spicy, I would say go for at least a 4. There is an acoustic guitar player on the weekend. One thing I have never liked at this restaurant is the big TV mounted by the door. When I go out to eat, whether for dinner or lunch, I want to pay full attention to the food and who I’m with and I find a TV very distracting. Leave those things for the sports bars.

Yelp
One of the best Thai restaurants in DFW because they have consistently served amazing quality and tasty Thai food for the past 8 years that I've frequented their restaurant. Every dish is good. Can't go wrong! I've ordered a variety of dishes from them over the years from pad thai to pad see eww to tom kha soup and everything has always tasted perfect. I also love their mango sticky rice dessert, since the sticky rice has a hint of pandan in it which makes it special to me. Located in an unassuming plaza with a lot of parking. Service is always quick and friendly here.

Yelp
I had no expectations for this place prior to reading a few positive Yelp reviews that recommended this place in Addison. First impressions were positive based on festive, bright decor, table layout, and live acoustic guitar on Friday night. The wait staff were very attentive. No issues. Food came out quickly. Papaya salad, TomYung Soup, Green Curry with rice, Pad Kee Mow with beef, Pad Thai with chicken, and crispy spring rolls. I would not recommend any of the things I ordered. I can go into why for each entree, but prefer not to. (For reference, my personal go-to spots for Thai in DFW are Denton's 'Thai Square' for authenticity and unparalleled consistency, Carrollton's 'Too Thai' for its flavorful dishes, and 'Crushcraft' for its lean menu but wok-hei'd pad kee mow, pad Thai, curries, and yummy tofu fries (not their soups)).

Sameera B.

Yelp
Delcioussssss fooooddd! Came here after some research and good reviews and it did not disappoint. Loved their coconut soup, pad se we with shrimp, crab cheese Rangoon, and sticky rice pudding! Everything was sooo goood. My fav was coconut soup and we got 3/5 spicy and could have even done 4/5 and it would have been better. Can't wait to come back next trip!

Emily N.

Yelp
Service here was definitely very attentive. Almost a little too attentive lol. The food was very flavorful but I feel like they forgot to add spice to my food as it had no kick at all. The ambience matched the cuisine and gave me a very homey feel.

Amelia B.

Yelp
Ordered the red curry with chicken and extra vegetables and a 4 spice level. 4 was still tame, so if you prefer spicy, I'd recommend going up. Flavor was amazing and it was a filling meal for a very fair price!

Shannon O.

Yelp
The food is absolutely incredible. You have got to try their award winning dish. I forgot the name of it, but it is hands-down. The best tie dish I've ever had in my entire life. the service is incredible and the ambience is OK. It does feel a little rundown in there and I don't think I would wanna go there on a date. But if I'm by myself or with friends or a committed partner, the food is incredible.

Shoba S.

Yelp
We went to Thai Star last week and really enjoyed the authentic fare served there! There was live music and the ambience was lovely and lively ! : We are vegetarians and had veggie dumplings, thai kee mow, pad Thai, basil kapow and yellow Curry! We had fried ice cream for Dessert and it was amazing!

Billy D.

Yelp
The khao soi was amazing. The crushed pepper sauce on the table is a game changer. The aesthetics of the restaurant are really nice and they have live music. The staff and service were exceptional and friendly.

Harsha S.

Yelp
I went here with a large group for lunch. The restaurant was a little difficult to find with construction on Midway, but I ended up finding it after circling around. There were about 9 of us present. The day we were present, the restaurant was nearly full so I was surprised we didn't have to wait too long. We were all able to be seated together and we had two employees come take care of us. The service was quite nice for our group and they were quite friendly. Our group ordered a variety of dishes. Even though I usually get some sort of curry when I go for Thai, I wanted to try a few different items. I ended up ordering some Vegetarian Thai Star Dumplings, Steamed Potstickers, and Thai Kai. Our water was filled often. After we were served, an employee (I assume the manager) came by to ask how everything was and if we needed anything else. We did end up asking for some chili oil, which wasn't really spicy. I mixed a lot of it with the soy sauce to make the dumplings and potstickers tastier to no avail. Either way, I still enjoyed the dumplings (4/5) and potstickers (4/5). I had that Thai Kai for the first time, and I wasn't too big of a fan. The mango sorbet didn't taste very good and there were a lot of ice crystals present. Next time I come here, I'll try the curries because they looked quite good and filling. I do recommend trying this place out!

Cash H.

Yelp
Love this place. It's tucked away in the corner, but it's just like a pearl in an oyster. The staff is great and the decor is good. The food here is spectacular, my friend introduced me and he has been there multiple times with various groups and said it was always amazing. I'm looking forward to going here more often.

Blessing E.

Yelp
Omg the food was so delicious I got the crab fried rice, Thai star dumplings and crispy salmon rolls all 10/10!!! The decor is so cozy and nice as well and when I went they had live music. The servers were attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back to try their dessert and other dishes.

Garry H.

Yelp
I like Thai Star so much, I must do an update. Our second visit here was just as good or better than the first. There was a short wait because it was packed, as usual. We tried some new dishes this trip, including the tempura vegetable sampler. This was SO GOOD! Live music, of course, which was wonderful. If you are a fan of Thai food, you really need to make the drive to Addison and visit Thai Star. I'm ready to go again!

Kiana G.

Yelp
I go to Thai places just to have Tom Yum, it's my favorite, and I pretty frequently will drive to a new city just to try new Tom Yum, and this place has such good Tom Yum! In the top two I've ever had, I can't decide if it's the best or not to me. It's so cute inside too. And they were super accommodating to me asking to add more veggies into my soup! I will definitely be going back!

Nina S.

Yelp
First and last time here. Ordered the Thai house noodles (they were soggy/overcooked). Cream cheese crab rolls were ok. My steamed rice had a bug in it.

Jillian M.

Yelp
Wow! Seriously, drop everything and run here. I can't say enough good things about this place. Immediately welcomed in at the door and our great experience continued on from there. Food was absolutely stunning (so good we ordered more to go), and we enjoyed our meal to the ambiance of some great live music. Prices were reasonable, and we felt so taken care of by the staff. 100/10, highly recommend!

Lauren R.

Yelp
I went here with a group of friends recently and our experience couldn't have been better! The restaurant itself is decorated in a fun way including little pillows on the booth seating. Our service was fast and attentive. And, the food is delicious. I get the pad kee mao at every new Thai place I try and this place does it well! Definitely check out their noodle dishes if you are stopping by. Note: The restaurant is a little hidden but it's definitely a gem for the area!

S E.

Yelp
I paid $6.85 for seafood to be added. There were only 4 pieces in my dish. However, the location was convenient and it was made quickly.

Autumn K.

Yelp
We absolutely love it here. The atmosphere is wonderful and we love coming for live music on the weekends. The staff are lovely and so accommodating! I dream about their pad thai.. it's so good. This is our favorite hidden gem!!

Alex A.

Yelp
For a quick meal, stopped by Thai Star. We had to travel through the parking lot a little because of the map, however it was worth it to find this restaurant. There is a choice of inside or outdoor seating when you enter. We ordered the spring rolls, which were a little bit vinegary and really crunchy. The Chicken Khao Soi, which had a really nice level of spice and was by far our favorite dish of the evening, was what we ordered next. The curry broth was so delicious that all you had to do was drink it to enter a flavor-filled universe. The Chicken Pad Thai was the last item we ordered. It was nice, however the next time I would definitely set the spice level to "3." Our next visit to Thai Star intrigues me!

Ming Fai T.

Yelp
Clean, great atmosphere, and great services. I got the today's special - chicken with mushrooms. Really good for light eaters.

Nicolas V.

Yelp
My family patronized this place, and the food was wonderful. More importantly, my mom left her purse with several thousand dollars cash in her wallet, and the money was still there when she picked up her purse the next day. This, people, is what the world needs more of. Good folks and good food. On behalf of my mom, thank you, Thai Star. You all deserve 10 stars

Monica L.

Yelp
The KHAO SOI was the best dish! I was missing out for years!! Very flavorful n delicious!

Elyse J.

Yelp
Food was fresh. Coconut soup was delicious with nice big pieces of white chicken. The Pad Thai was delicious as well.

Sagar V.

Yelp
Hi guys. Today I have decided to try best Thai food and find this "Thai Star Restaurant " which is in Addison. May be this is the best food I ever tasted so far. I tried Green Curry and Pad Thai along with Tofu Triangles. Wow its amazing. Guys dont miss it. Really they are amazing. The quality of Food and the service provided with amenities were beautiful. So its your turn now.

Eden W.

Yelp
I ordered pickup- the food is delicious but my complaint is the rice portion for my red curry. It's maybe half the to go box. I've never had rice not fill the box anywhere else. I wish I atleast had a warning so I could have ordered extra.

Catherine T.

Yelp
Delicious food, relaxing ambience & live (but not so loud you can't hear table mates!) We tasted 5 starters + 2 entrees-all good, reasonably priced too.

Ruthie P.

Yelp
A friend recommended this place and I am glad I decided to check it out. Great customer service. I got chicken pad kee mow medium spicy and it was delicious. The spicy was just right. Cream cheese crab roll was good. Pad Thai was tasty. Good Thai food to try if you are around this area.

Kathryn P.

Yelp
This was a small Thai place off midway near Beltline. We would never have known it was there if not for yelp. Glad we found it! My mom really like her Thai basil with chicken and my hubby loved the pad ki mow with chicken. They both order the same thing at every Thai place and both said we're an 8 out of 10! I got the Tom yum soup with chicken, Thai hot. It was the perfect amount of spice! Really love that they used Thai pepper flakes instead of the chili oil a lot use! Would've been better with the fresh Thai peppers though! The food was delicious, not greasy and steaming hot! We will definitely go back! Got the pot of jasmine hot tea and shared with my mom. A big pot and yummy! They had live music too! Crowded, but no wait!

Timothy N.

Yelp
Prompt attentive professional staff. Delicious food served in a distinct atmosphere.

Yensy P.

Yelp
I had this place 3 times in the last month. The jungle rice is amazing level 3 spice is just right!! The service is amazing very attentive and the ambiance is nice, their is live music on Friday's and maybe the weekends, I have only been on Friday.

Lisa C.

Yelp
First time trying this place and ordered to go food, ordered Pad Thai chicken add shrimp and chicken and shrimp fried rice. We were charged $4.00 extra to add shrimp for each order which only had 4 shrimp per order. The shrimp were over cooked, very dry and tough, the chicken was just okay. The spice was just perfect but the overall flavor of the entrees were really just okay and definitely doesn't want me to order from here again.

Suzy D.

Yelp
I ordered takeout from this place but received the wrong order. On the order I received the food was not good at all. I've had Thai food before and this is completely not up to par in my opinion. But the lady running it was very nice!

Ravi S.

Yelp
This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Dallas. It has a very authentic Thai ambience with good live music. The service was very prompt. Their food is amazing. We tried the Khao Soi Noodles and it was delicious. It's a award winning dish, and rightly so (5/5) We also order the Massaman curry but it had a little intense Thai basil flavor (4/5). Their mango sticky rice was good, too (5/5).

Kaitlyn T.

Yelp
I always love going to Thai Star! It's always my to-go place for comfort food. I love thé authenticness of the restaurant and the place is decorated so cute with their culture! I always love getting the thai five star noodles with tom yum soup and mango sticky rice. I heard they sometimes have live music especially before covid happened.

Jacob M.

Yelp
Very quaint restaurant tucked away in the corner of a shopping center! Food was delicious. Wish I had more time to try an appetizer and drink. Will be returning soon!

Sammy B.

Yelp
First time here and loved it! The sever was really nice. I choose a 3 out of 5 heat for the Thai Start noodles and it was pretty spicy. The pad Thai was really awesome too. We will definitely come back.

Will J.

Yelp
Had it delivered through GrubHub this time and it was just as delicious as being at the restaurant. Enjoy going to or having Thai Star delivered anytime. Excellent, fresh Thai food. Best I have had in North Dallas

Tiffany F.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite Thai places in DFW. All the food is amazing. The restaurant itself is tiny but charming. I would recommend getting takeout if you're claustrophobic or afraid of COVID. Lots of vegetarian options!

Will S.

Yelp
This place is wonderful from the staff to the food to the prices. Great selection of Thai food and Asian beers in a little hole in the wall strip mall. Staff was friendly and very talkative, also great recommendations. I have struggled to find good Thai food after moving from the west coast to Texas but this place is the real deal.

Raecyne Q.

Yelp
My chicken fried rice was good, but boyfriend got some shrimp meal but there wasn't any shrimp in it and it made his stomach really upset.

David L.

Yelp
Best Thai restaurant in Dallas that we've found so far!! Good food, reasonable price, and great service. Ambiance: cute and had live music on Saturday night Staff: friendly and attentive Food: bomb diggity!! Authentic and fresh Thai food in Dallas! + Khao soi with pork: mmmmm nom nom! We loved this dish in Thailand and haven't found it around here much. Thai star does it very well and large portion size! + Papaya salad: fresh, crunchy and savory! + 5 start noodle: good + Mango sticky rice: great! They use some pandan so it's a green rice Thai tea: good and large This place is a keeper!!

Shal S.

Yelp
A very good restaurant with good food and great service. We ordered their award willing Khao soi noodles, and boy were they amazing! Absolutely 10/10. We also ordered spicy eggplant soy chicken, a vegetarian entree which was pretty good - 8/10. One thing to note is that quantities are a LOT. Two people can easily eat in just one order. We made the mistake of ordering 3 entrees and we'll probably be eating them for a while now

Aisha C.

Yelp
I often go here just to pick up their crispy spring rolls!! They are really good!! I'll most definitely be back!!

Brithany G.

Yelp
Fresh, flavorful and straight up delicious! This is a little hole in the wall gem, live music on weekends, several take out orders. Staff is super friendly and I can't get over the freshness and quality of their food. Truly homemade, full of flavor and tons of options. Deff worth the visit for some comfort thai food. Keep up the good work guys, don't change anything! The fried rice is worth the extra upcharge on the entrees, it's $1 but we fought for the last grain

DJ R.

Yelp
Great Thai, friendly staff. I usually do take out but have gone in a few times and had a good experience. Love their basil chicken. All their dishes are great, never disappointed.

Guy V.

Yelp
I came to Thai Star on a neighborhood recommendation. It's about a 17 minute drive, but I'm willing to travel for good Thai since our usual spot has been out of business since the Tornado of 2019 The online ordering system was super easy and straight forward. Placed my order for 5:45pm pickup and when I arrived, my order was ready to go and the gentleman asked me to confirm my order on the receipt. Perfect. When I got home I figured out two issues. First, our pineapple fried was devoid of pineapple. The pineapple fried rice is the only thing my two kids eat from the order and it's their favorite dish. We were disappointed to see not one piece in the dish. I called the restaurant to ask if our order may have been either misplaced or if the chef forgot to add the ingredient in. The person I spoke with, for some reason, would not concede that there was no pineapple in my order. He indicated the chef told him that he had weighed it out before making the dish. I tried to explain that it just wasn't possible since we already served it up. No apology really, other than the concession that they will add double the pineapple next time. Double zero is zero ... So yeah. Even looking at the pic of the mango fried rice, it doesn't look skimpy ... Lastly, We were given a paltry helping of white rice to eat our curry with. It looked like someone had picked at it before it went into our bag. We had to supplement with our "sans pineapple" fried rice. Rice is one of the cheapest ingredients on the planet. Skimping on steamed rice for the meal seems ... dumb. The quality of the food was a good. Had it not been for the above issues, a solid 4 star. Won't be back

Susheel V.

Yelp
Ordered a chef special Tilapia fried dish marinated with nice tasty sauce . Fish tasted great . We also ordered a curry fried rice and steamed pot stickers. The were great too .

John T.

Yelp
Been going to Thai Star for many years. Reliable quality food, good portion size and reasonable prices. Prompt service and family time atmosphere. Still plan to go back, but there are a couple of things from our most recent visit that diminished the experience. The printed menus are significantly out of date with the actual prices. Dishes showing $10 something were actually $12.95, sides were a dollar more. The prices still represent good value, but inaccurate prices are not a good practice. The other thing which I found irritating were the suggested tips which were calculated off the grand total including tax, and the choices were 20%, 22% and 25%. I guess I should be glad there was no extra service charge built in. The one other thing that we've always found a little odd for a Thai restaurant is that at least on Saturday nights, there is always a live musician playing soft (thought not always soft enough) in the corner of what is already a pretty cramped place. This time on the way out there was a big sign requesting tips. We left one, because the musician was good, and low volume. But we actually could do without the noise.

Jaden F.

Yelp
love this place. they had live music, warm vibes, welcoming staff and ofc the food was great!

Okari O.

Yelp
The interior was smaller than I thought - that's not a big deal though just surprising. Some of the space was taken up by an artist/singer though when I came in on a Friday evening - also surprising to sing someone singing with their guitar inside a Thai restaurant but if anything that gives this a fun twist with its live music. But the 4 stars is purely based off the Pad See Ewe. It was decent, priced averagely at ~$11, and didn't impress me but also wasn't just average Pad See Ew. Overall it's a good Thai place.
