"Thai Taste is certainly not a sports bar. There are no TVs — only a few golden gongs, hanging umbrellas, and red accents in this cozy, squat restaurant on East Boulevard. But amid the coze is a photo wall — a near shrine — dedicated to the many Panthers players who’ve had a proper gorge at Thai Taste. It’s famously former Panther and general heartthrob Luke Keuchly’s go-to spot. There’s no frilly, fancy work being done here; but generous portions of drunken noodles, a slightly stinging green curry, and warm Pud Thai. They’re sturdy enough staples to keep this place running since 1988. As made clear by Keuchly and the Panthers, this is the obvious spot for a post-game gorge." - Kayleigh Ruller

"This place is for when guests are craving the comfort of the warm embrace of herbs, spices, and coconut in Thai cuisine. The small dining room feels more like a living room — casual, friendly, and decorated with hanging umbrellas and even a gong. The menu isn’t reinventing the wheel; it’s a trusty list of sweet, sour, and spicy dishes like green and red curries, drunken noodles, and a scattering of sometimes fried, sometimes saucy starters. And the tom kha soup is bound to heal. While this is a popular takeout spot, the atmosphere is really worth dining in for. Opened in 1988, this East Boulevard fixture was actually the first Thai restaurant in Charlotte and has rightly endured." - Kayleigh Ruller

Google
Thai taste catered our work lunch today and we were more than happy! We ordered Pad Thai, Chicken Red Curry and vegan Fried Rice. Everything tasted fantastic! Huge portions, fresh and hot, fair prices. We will come back for sure, many thanks again to the whole team!

Google
I did not expect this place to be so good! If you haven’t been you need to visit. I would suggest you get a level 1 if you want spice because Level 2 was definitely hot!! The pad tai was 6/10. The flavor was there but needed more veggies. Also, som friends were vegan and they were able to accommodate as well!

Google
Always consistent. I love coming here for lunch. I get the pud thai. The plate is steaming the whole time, that’s how fresh the food is! I love this place

Google
Pleasant space and delicious food! My duck was crispy, tasty in the panaang curry. My friend's green curry with chicken was also yummy. The white rice, sticky, good. And the service was very attentive and on point. Coming back soon!

Google
Food was good but swapped the spicy level for two of our three dishes. It was for our son and he had to eat lot of plain rice to offset the spicy level. They were reluctant to accept the spicy levels were swapped. Food was delicious otherwise and portion was good.

Google
Love the Pad Thai and Yellow Curry Chicken! Spring Rolls are light, flaky and tasty!

Great Thai food… very authentic and delicious

Google
AMAZING FOOD. Elise recommended the mango rice for dessert and she was totally correct about how delicious it was! I had the curry which was flavored perfectly. The Siam Shrimp was also delicious. High praise to this place. We will be coming back :)

Yelp
I really enjoyed my lunch here yesterday with a friend! We came on Thursday right at 12pm and were seated immediately. The location is perfect on the border of Dilworth and SouthEnd but one of the rare few spots with free parking! If you have time to stroll through Paper Skyscraper after too (the store next door) then even better. For their lunch menu, there are only about 6 entree options to choose from and each includes a small cup of soup, iced tea (they bring you a bottle of simply syrup to sweeten your own), and jasmine rice or noodles depending on the dish. I had the Gaeng Dang and my friend had Pud Thai. Both dishes were great. Her's was a little sweeter than I am used to, but I absolutely LOVED my coconut red curry sauce with a spice level of 4 (their spice range is 1-5). We already decided this will be a regular lunch meet up spot for us! I can't wait to return.

Yelp
This is the first Thai restaurant in Charlotte. Have been coming here for over 25 years and have never been disappointed. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is delicious. Highly recommend.

Yelp
We've been to many Thai restaurants and my parents used to own one. This one was alright, it was pretty average. They didn't have a few Thai staples like papaya salad and lad/rad nah. My mom asked if they had a few other things but they didn't have it either. The food we got too didn't have much meat and could have been seasoned better. For how much we paid, kinda expected more. Service was nice though a little slow for the amount of staff vs customers. I would go back if someone wanted to go but don't think I would go out of my way to go here again.

Kalie L.

Yelp
Extremely average Thai food. We got Pad Thai and Panang Curry for take-out. The Pad Thai was pretty dry although it was a huge portion. The curry came with a ton of rice but really not much curry and not super flavorful. I like other Thai places in Charlotte much more. I will say the atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy and cute so maybe dining in would make for a better experience.

Kevin K.

Yelp
I enjoyed the lunch which seemed to be a set menu. There were a 6-8 basic offerings each with a choice of meat/seafood additions for added cost. Large portions with fresh, tasty ingredients. Very friendly and efficient staff. The brick walled interior offered various types of spaces and seating. I found it inviting.

Scott B.

Yelp
The food is typical Thai fare. The spring rolls were really greasy. The soups I had were good. However to be honest the dishes we had were bland, They lacked seasoning as though they dumbed them down to the point of being bland. Service is good and parking is tight. It's a decent place but I was hoping for more.......

M.L. T.

Yelp
Second trip. Green curry and mango sticky rice were both outstanding. Service was superior, very quick food service. We had our soup almost instantly. The setting is very cozy. Lots of two top tables. Found this gem 10 years ago and it's our Charlotte favorite.

Yelp
This is a nicely located restaurant with some delicious and affordable options. MENU It has a decent variety of appetizers, salads, soups, stir fries and others. My wife and I ordered the #34 (stir fry with pineapple and sweet and sour sauce and chicken) and and #39 (stir fry ginger with chicken). They were both excellent! We did not order drinks or dessert this time. LOCATION Thai Taste is located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Charlotte right next one of the cutest stores in the city (Paper Skyscraper). You can actually eat at Thai Taste, and walk around and go to Paper Skyscraper to hand out. PARKING There is plenty of free parking around.

Riya P.

Yelp
The ambience of this place was very cute and I loved the decorations. The servers were also absolute sweethearts! We ordered the drunken noodles and the pineapple fried rice. The portion sizes were decent but it was a bit on the pricier end. The drunken noodles were coated in a light sauce that was unique and tasty. There wasn't much flavor going on with the pineapple fried rice, it was missing something which couldn't be compensated by adding spicy sauce so that was a little disappointing. Overall decent spot for Thai food.

Julia L.

Yelp
Best Thai in CLT!!! Hands down. Friendly service. Great restaurant atmosphere. Casual, comfortable! Will always choose Thai Taste over anywhere else :)

Lisa H.

Yelp
Always good. Lunch service is consistent and delicious! We love the red curry! Oh and the Pad Thai is really good, too!

Natalie P.

Yelp
A little on the pricey side.. but I suppose that's the neighborhood? I'm used to pad Thai for around $10 .. but I guess that's not a thing here in this part of Charlotte. Nevertheless, I was happy to see a Thai place with such strong reviews. Pros- a parking lot in this busy part of town! Cleanliness, the wait staff wiped down the credit card with cleaning solution before handing it back to me after payment. Taste, pretty tasty pad Thai! Cons- the price to food ratio, seems like you pay a lot for just an average amount. I would definitely consider coming back, but may also look for cheaper options maybe a little farther outside of town.

Howard S.

Yelp
We had several curries, chicken satay and veggie spring rolls, and all were excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive and the place wasn't gorgeous but the dining room was clean. Recommended!

Rachel M.

Yelp
I have been trying to find a good Thai place in Charlotte but have yet to find one. In my opinion the menu was way over priced. There was a decent amount of chicken in the dish but not nearly enough sauce. The noodles were very dry.

Sharon M.

Yelp
It is a pretty good Thai place in Charlotte. I've had better Thai food but this is probably the best I've found so far in Charlotte lol. Service was not good. Didn't get what we asked for and server was slow.

Jenna N.

Yelp
I usually order green curry in every Thai restaurant I dine in. However Thai Taste has the tastiest and most aromatic red curry I ever had. I always buy a container of the red curry sauce to go and add my own vegetables and meat. Yum!

Diana S.

Yelp
I know this is probably one of the most popular Thai establishments around but I'd put Thai Taste closer to the middle of the pack. I always use Pad Thai as my control, but have had the curries and fried rice as well. Everything is always cooked well but the Pad Thai has a sort of vinegar like taste to it. The curries are far better with a nice depth of flavors. Atmosphere is ok but it can get very cramped and loud. Parking can also be difficult and it's not set up for large groups.

Thanh N.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and staff but the food is not as I expected. If you have tried good authentic Thai food before, this might not be what you would expect. I did enjoy the coconut milk soup.

Jaye T.

Yelp
Went for lunch on a Monday. Tables are too crowded for such a small space. Definitely couldn't seat a wheelchair comfortably. When seated, I was only given a lunch menu to order from. There was nothing on it I cared to eat, but I ended up getting the Pad Thai after the waitress rushed me to order. It tasted strange and my shrimp were cool in the center. Spring roll was nothing but cabbage. I waited forever for the check just to finally be told I could go to the register and just give them the number on the side of my table. I was in the bathroom most of the night. Wasted $30 and most likely got food poisoning. I will not be back to this location.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
We are homeless. My boyfriend has cancer and is having a port put into his chest tomorrow so he can begin immunotherapy. We ordered our food and paid extra to add bamboo. We started eating, and it just wasn't good. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't right. We had eaten 2/3 of it when my boyfriend realized they forgot the bamboo. We called them back. The meal was more than $20. This is a lot for homeless people, but it was a treat before his procedure. The restaurant would only give us bamboo or $2. . I explained the entire situation including him having cancer and a procedure and our homelessness. They were only willing to give us $2 or bamboo. I handed them back the uneaten portion and told them to keep the $2. Honestly, I believe they were happy they came out ahead. They got an extra $2 and got to keep their bamboo. I let them read this before posting and they said go ahead because they don't care.

E S.

Yelp
I've been eating here for over 25 years. The food is consistent and always delicious. My taste buds have never been disappointed.

Megan B.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance. Tom Yum was delicious. I got spice level 1 but added the spicy red sauce. The tails were still on the shrimp but that's okay because I took the tails off myself. Sometimes good things take time and hard work. Pad see Ew was bland. The staff were all wonderful, I enjoyed my time there. If I go again I will not order pad see ew

Fresh Coat O.

Yelp
Went into try a new pad, Thai, the server took over 15 minutes to even acknowledge I was there or take my order. Someone walked by and took my soup when I was not even finished. The server never checked on my food, the chicken pot pie was dry and had very little flavor, pretty disappointing.

Abby L.

Yelp
I ordered take out here for the first time. I got the pad Thai with tofu. So what the menu doesn't tell you is if you order this option it comes with maybe 3 pieces of tofu and carrots, broccoli, cabbage, snap peas, and all the things that pad Thai should not have. I just don't like extra stuff in my pad Thai and I don't know why they do this. At least list it on the menu please, so I can opt out. Or in case someone has allergies! The sauce is also a bit too sweet in my opinion. Or maybe it was the overload of carrots...gross. They did the perfect amount of spice, which I enjoyed...but overall I wasn't pleased with my $16 meal.

D B.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and great service!! I would come here again to try new items.

Cassie O.

Yelp
Private parking lot. Quality of food is good. Average price $18 to 27 per entree. Wine prices reasonable. I only saw 2 waitress. Place is small and could use some upgrades to be more upscale. Not fancy all but do recommend for date night because it's small and intimate. If you like spicy get 3. I got level 4 and my nose was running while eating. Lol. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. No reservations needed. We originally had reservations for the Indian spot across the street they were sooo packed not even a parking space that I cancelled and stumbled amongst this place soooooo glad I did. The inside walls are wood but not like the well know. Thai house wood that appears to be more authentic and art work this place just used regular wood with no architecturally design. Again the interior could use an upgrade to match the higher price of the food.

Dianna H.

Yelp
We had the red curry with shrimp and pineapple and the green curry with chicken. Can't go wrong with either.

Sara L.

Yelp
I went here pretty late in the evening so the crowd had cleared out (the parking lot had been overflowing a few times when I drove by). I ordered my usual Pad See Ew and it was very tasty. They use a wide 1in noodle or so and that is the first time I've seen that. The spice level was PERFECT! I ordered a 2/5 and it was a nice kick. I always debate between a 2 and a 3 because it differs so much from chef to chef - this chef got is perfect! The service was attentive, friendly and efficient. I would definately recommend this place. ps... the vibe inside is low lighting, candles on the table, nice and cozy (or romantic if you want it to be!)

K R.

Yelp
Great food Had the Thai Duck Spot on Busy place Got there just before 12. By 12:30 Place was hopping Will be back

Leah Y.

Yelp
Love this place so much If you want great Thai food then Thai Taste is the perfect place

Saifra Z.

Yelp
Ordered from here last week on a cold night. I ordered a Tom Yom soup with chicken and a Pad Thai with Shrimp. Although the food was a little late ( due to Grub Hub) it arrived hot and it was delicious. Portions were good and by the end of the evening I was warmed up and full! Look forward to trying other dishes next time!

Heather S.

Yelp
We ordered takeout while on a business trip recently and it was delicious!!! Highly recommend

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Hands down, the best Thai restaurant in Charlotte! I love their Tom Kha soup, fried spring rolls, and veggie pud Thai! I like my dishes to be a little spicy but not too much, so I get a spice level 2.

Eric S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Very consistent! Great service & staff ! Very busy restaurant for lunch & dinner. The best Thai around.

Sean R.

Yelp
Great authentic Thai food in a fun and intimate atmosphere. Great selection of dishes and wonderful service

Jacqueline T.

Yelp
I had heard that this was one of the best Thai restaurants in Charlotte, so I finally made it to try it out. I've only been to a handful of Thai restaurants, but this one definitely stands out as the best I've been to so far. We went for lunch and were seated immediately. All lunch entrees come with a pitcher of iced tea, rice, and a spring roll. I got the Pud Khing Sod which was their ginger based dish. It was absolutely delicious. The ginger flavor really came through without being overpowering. The vegetables were all very fresh and well cooked. The only complaint I heard at the table was that it wasn't very spicy (I don't like spicy food, so this wasn't a problem for me). Everyone cleared their plates, so it must have been good! I'll definitely be coming back here in the future for lunch and recommending it to others as well!

Aimee C.

Yelp
One and done! It was not great, but not bad! I just didn't like it. Soup - similar to a watered down chicken flavor broth. Ok if really hungry. Spring Roll was cool to the touch and not the best Broccoli & onions in a Brown sauce with white rice - The taste was only ok. The onions had a hard outer layer too tough to chew through. The rice had a dry coating on the outside like it was sitting out for a bit. PUD TUA NGOCK with Shrimp- my friend thought it was mediocre. She said it was a good sauce but wouldn't go back again. If forced to go back, she said she'd order it again.

Mebrito1 ..

Yelp
First customer service amazing! Wife and I had 2 great meals! They are on it! Had Thai Taste with Chicken, amazing texture and flavor! And Just enough, heat index of 2. Yes you can choose how much heat you can bare! I got the Pad Thai Shrimp, heat to a 3, perfect heat! And the to end this great Meal, Mango Sticky rice! Warmed coconut milk with sweetened sticky rice, and fresh mango! If you don't know about this place, you owe it to yourself to try! You will thank me later!

A J.

Yelp
A Queen City staple - Best Thai in Charlotte for many years. We've had many family dinners, lunches, and celebrations at the multiple locations and never disappoints.

Ponce C.

Yelp
The service was great and the food came out much faster than I expected. The pad krapow chicken was very good. I'll be back to try something else.

Ludovico P.

Yelp
Horrible food no taste. Great ambiance and service. Love the authentic decor but won't go back plate was horrible

Joy G.

Yelp
Wasn't satisfied with my meal and wouldn't go back again. I ordered takeout and got the dumplings (4) and red curry. The food was OK - nothing to write home about. The curry sauce was pretty good but the chicken was a little dry and the rice was overcooked. The dumpling filling was also dry. But I was most disappointed by the small portions and high price. I paid $25 plus tip and ate everything and was still hungry at the end. I could justify that if the food was amazing but it wasn't. The inside of the restaurant was cute but they did have a lot of sports memorabilia which I felt like didn't fit.

Ash K.

Yelp
I had the Gaeng Dang. It was so delicious. The curry sauce has coconut milk and taste heavenly. This was my first time at this restaurant and I will certainly go there again. Service is not the best though. I give 3 star for service. But their food is so good that I decided to give them a 5 star. Just one more thing, don't get disappointed with their starter soup, which is not that good. Main dish is much much better.

Michael S.

Yelp
Just moved to Charlotte and was looking for some Thai lunch specials. Saw this place on a few lists and I'm thrilled I did. I usually stop into this place at least once a week now for some fantastic Thai food. I usually get the Pad Kee Maw and it's wonderful. I like really spicy food, so I usually go with a 4 out of 5 on the spice scale. Each time I've visited, I experience extremely quick service and a great lunch special that comes with an iced tea, soup, entree and spring roll.

Allyson D.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Monday evening for dinner and was quickly greeted and seated. It wasn't busy when we get there, but the place filled up and a line of to go orders where on the counter. Started off with the spring rolls, so hot and yummy! I got the Khing Sod with beef, it was light and full of veggies. I loved the ginger strips in it. I also had a bite of the chicken pad Thai and it was sweet. To me, it had a slightly different taste then you're standard pad Thai, not a bad thing. Portions where enough to take home. Sauces were available on the table and service was great!

Minie S.

Yelp
Effective on May,20th,2018 Thai Taste is now CLOSED on SUNDAY !!!! They been open for 7 days a weeks for a past 30 years since 1988 ! First Thai Restaurant in Charlotte

Kate T.

Yelp
I recently moved to the area and am obsessed with Thai Taste for lunch. They offer lunch specials everyday, which are served with soup and a spring roll. There are 7 options daily, from traditional Pad Thai and Pud See Ew to others like Pud Asparagus and Rice with Veggies. With each dish you add your protein, shrimp, chicken, pork and beef. So far my favorite is the Pud Asparagus. If you like asparagus, and knowing they are fresh this time of year, this is your dish! Once your order is placed your complimentary soup is served, a clear broth with napa cabbage, peas and carrots, so perfect to start a meal. Overall the dishes are great and the service is on point, they have a system that works great!

Darlene J.

Yelp
Love this restaurant for their Pad Thai. It's the best in town! It is very affordable and the service is great.

Bruce K.

Yelp
I've been coming to Thai Taste for at least nine years. Maybe it's the best Thai in Charlotte, maybe it isn't. But one thing it absolutely is is consistent. They have a half dozen lunch specials that are inexpensive, served fast and served tasty. Red or green curry, pad thai and some other things that I never order because the pad thai is just excellent. When you order, the heat is measured from "0 stars" (no heat at all) to "5 stars" (should be served with a fire extinguisher). Remember to ask for "fresh peppers" instead of the dried peppers which doesn't change the level of heat but does change the flavor a bit. Depending on mood, I'm having either two stars or three stars and that's plenty hot for me. One of these days, I'll land here outside of lunch hours. It hasn't happened yet. Same great folks, consistently great Thai food. Thai Taste is very good. (Do stop by their neighbor, Paper Skyscraper!)
