The Pad Se Ew was an amazing texture and flavor and a crisp Singha went nicely with the meal. The mango sticky rice was also pretty incredible. We sat on the back patio on the edge of it where they walked past to take out the garbage. I would absolutely recommend changing the route of how you take the garbage out because I got some really bad whiffs of smell while we were eating when the garbage was being taken out right next to our table.

Large group friendly!! They were super polite & easy going about our split checks. The food was amazing!! Fresh, delicious, & super cute. My vegan friend had a great selection, & I had chicken so soft it felt melty delicious. This restaurant is worth going to!!

Google
Great food and I loved the outdoor seating! I asked if I could make mine spicy and they said they can make anything spicy. They gave me a small container cup thing of VERY spicy chilies. I mixed about 3/4th of it into my curry, because I am a spice fiend. Would not recommend more than 1/4th of that unless you eat randomly ghost peppers.

Stopped by for dinner and was seated right away. The staff is super helpful and answered all the questions we had. They were attentive and friendly. Everything we ordered was amazing and they had great portions to share. We fell in love with their mango sticky rice too. Coming back here to try more dishes!

Google
Super solid Thai food! The red and yellow curry is delicious, and I recommend getting the avocado roll or the roti app.

The food was great. I had the pad thia noodles and the avocado spring rolls that came with a peanut and sweet and sour sauce. Food came out quick and it was piping hot. The patio seating was nice as well as the service.

Google
Had the BBQ Chicken with Papaya Salad and Sticky Rice. It was absolutely delicious. The service was quick and friendly and the food was expertly cooked. Calamari was very tasty as well. Phone and in person service was friendly and efficient and we were also thanked on the way out. A+ experience, all-around. We will be back!

Google
My husband and I were searching for a comfortable neighborhood restaurant with a low key vibe, great food, and reasonable prices (also vegan options). This place is all those things and more! We've been going for several years now, and the food is consistently delicious. Our regular order is avocado fresh roll, pad kee mao with tofu, basil fried rice with tofu, and mango sticky rice. Whoever buys their produce is amazing - the avocados and mangos are always perfect - and the chef is excellent too. Honestly, they've ruined other Thai places for me. Also, they have a really cute back door patio, complete with space heaters. Try it out! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
This is now our favorite restaurant whenever we get Take Out while visiting my In-Laws. Our group consists of 1 Vegan, 2 strict Vegetarians, & 2 who like Chicken or fish. There is plenty of variety so we're all satisfied. This was the 2nd year that we got our Take Out for Christmas Dinner. Yes, they're open on Christmas Day! We also picked up an order for Mother's Day. When my birthday comes around, this will be my choice for sure. The Avocado Rolls are fabulous, they're like mini avocado salads in a roll! Mango Salad was awesome, Papaya Salad was good-it's been a year so I don't recall specifically but I had no complaints. We're not especially fond of fried appetizers, so I can't say much about them. However the Basil Fried Rice was delicious, & so was the Pad Thai. We were worried they might be too oily, but they were fine since we don't eat out that often. We also ordered 3 Curries, the Red does not come Mild, so keep that in mind. We ordered two curries with Tofu and Vegetables, and one with Chicken. Yumm. My only comment would be that I would like to have some more broth and a bit less Bamboo Shoot. But every dish was great, we were all satisfied and very happy. The Vegetables were so fresh, the Tofu had good texture & was cooked perfectly, so I was impressed. The chicken was great, none of that fatty stuff you get with Chinese food. The kitchen and restaurant were clean and it was evident that they put care into their cooking. Also, they are very nice people! The restaurant is small, and I haven't eaten inside, but they have several tables if you want to have your food served nice and hot. They did a good job of labeling the food, and they didn't forget or switch an item for something else. And their prices are reasonable for the East Bay. You can order online and pre-pay, which is nice, especially if you want to plan for an important celebration, like a Holiday or Birthday or Anniversary. I'm quite picky and I found this Thai restaurant to be stellar. Please be polite and kind to them, and don't forget to tip! We all need to support restaurants like this one to keep them in business. I know I would be very sad if they ever had to close, now that we found them. Thank you, Thai Taste Kitchen, for doing such a wonderful job. I have a lot of esteem for this well-run business. And no, I don't know them personally and was not given any compensation for this Review, this is my honest opinion (as well as that of my family). If you want fresh, healthy Thai Food, this is a fantastic choice on Piedmont Ave. This may have been my first 5-Star Review, certainly in the past 10 years.

Yelp
My mom and I stopped by on a weekday for lunch. There was no wait and we mostly saw people coming to grab their to-go meals. However the place is actually really big (you wouldn't really suspect it from the outside and narrow door entrance). It was actually really cool to see that they have a nice balcony seating area in the back, it seems like a lovely place to eat in the summer. The food was great! We loved it all: pumpkin curry (not spicy), rot (the curry sauce was the best), avocado spring roll (fresh and both sauces went well with them; one is peanut and one is hoisin), and Thai tea/thai coffee. The only thing is the Thai tea and coffee were both sweeter than we prefer, but tasted much better once the ice melted. I would definitely come again!

Yelp
Awesome Thai!! Don't let the entrance scare you off.everyone is super nice, everything ordered was perfect. I especially loved the outside seating. For those of you who've been to Thailand, you'll appreciate the space

Yelp
My spouse and I came around 7:30 pm on a Friday and were told to sit wherever. We found a two-person table, but I found it a little jarring because the restaurant's layout made it hard to see what seats were available without going through each area. Fortunately, we didn't have to walk too far to find a table. After we sat down, we ordered a BBQ Chicken with Papaya Salad (they asked how spicy and I said not spicy) and Baa Mee Moo Dang Poo (dry style or soup style, and we ordered dry style). It took a while for our dishes to come. For the BBQ Chicken with Papaya Salad, the papaya salad had a good crunch, though it was a bit too sour. The sticky rice was wrapped in plastic and then covered in foil, and I wondered a) why they wouldn't have removed these wrappings to make it easier for the customer and b) whether all of the wrappings were necessary (it could be necessary if customers generally don't order a lot of sticky rice so that creating a large batch would waste food). The chicken was a little fried, unlike the menu picture, and I was bummed because I wanted to avoid fried food. That being said, the meat was moist and had a good crisp, though It didn't have much flavor. This made me wonder if this chicken was healthier than what you typically get at restaurants. When the Baa Mee Moo Dang Poo came, there was a set of disposable chopsticks, and I told them we didn't need that, so they took it away. I preferred to use the fork because it was reusable instead of the chopsticks, which were disposable. The server accidentally spilled a little of the soup on the side and gave my spouse an extra napkin to clean it up. The noodle had a decent texture, though the meat was very dry. The dish overall was just okay. The table next to us was loud, which I believe was related to not only their volume but also internal acoustics. We had sat at the two-person table next to the four-person table in the alcove between the two larger seating areas. All in all, while I love that this place uses so many reusables, it wasn't pleasant for me to physically dine in, and the food was just all right. I hope that I just had bad luck that night. ECO NOTES (Dine-In) Dine-In Dishware: Reusable plates and bowls Napkins: Single-use disposable paper napkin Utensils: Metal fork. Also got disposable wooden chopsticks for the noodle dish, but I was able to ask them to take the chopsticks back. Water cups: Short cups made of glass

Yelp
What a beautiful spot. Ample indoor and outdoor seating. Service is fast and friendly and bathrooms are clean and neat. We enjoyed sharing crispy roti which was delicious with the curry, pumpkin curry rice and the shrimp chicken pad thai! Would love to be back and try more from their menu.

Yelp
Thai Taste is my fave thai spot in the Oakland area, for their romantic back patio (dog-friendly) and delicious flavorful foods and large portions. Came by for a weeknight treat-ourself night with my friend, and we were happy to enjoy Piedmont on the weekday without the hustle and bustle of the weekend. There were plenty of spots on the street for parking, and we easily walked in without having to wait to be seated. Our servers were SO kind and attentive, shout out to the wonderful ladies holding it down and the beautiful chefs making our delicious foods in the open kitchen concept you can see right when you walk in from the front door. We started with their yellow curry and roti appetizer which was honestly our most favorite dish. I am picky with my roti and Thai Taste's is SO flaky, perfect with their initial crunch, but buttery soft goodness. Holy moly, that yellow curry I could just drizzle all over my body, yum. Their pad thai looked so tasty, my friend loved it. And I enjoyed my pad kee mao. I'm a sucker for rice noods and Thai Taste really had us raving about the flavors. I walked out so stuffed and my belly so warm and happy, it felt like a spiritual experience. Would highly recommend treating yourself to some honest and genuine Thai food by some friendly and lovely people.

Yelp
We ordered takeout to try the Thai samosa, pineapple fried rice with tofu and vegetables, papaya salad, and Kao soy. I didn't try the papaya salad since it had peanuts in it. Thai samosa: It reminds me of egg rolls but lighter and actually quite sweet, as well as savory. The sauce is sweet and sour as well. If you have a sweet tooth, I'd recommend it. It is already vegetarian by default. Pineapple fried rice with tofu and vegetables (it normally comes with chicken and shrimp): It's quite savory and I liked the huge pineapple chunks and cashews. The tofu was nicely fried and firm. The broccoli, carrots, and cucumber were alright. Overall, it was very savory Kao soy: The sauce base reminds me of having a yellow curry or other mild Thai-style curries. The crispy egg noodles had a nice texture. I didn't eat much of this overall due to large amount of chicken. Overall, I thought the food was really yummy and would recommend; I appreciate that they have vegetarian modifications available for some dishes.
google avatar

Akhil K.

Yelp
We order takeout from here often, our usual order is all vegetarian - pineapple fried rice, Thai samosa appetizers, curries with Tofu. The service is always fast, food is consistently delicious, and it's fairly easy to park close by despite being a busy street. We will look forward to our next takeout from them, hope you all enjoy this joint too!

Yelp
Found a new Thai spot in Oakland, Yes!!! Food is different than any Thai food I have every eaten. They incorporate ingredients that's not the traditional way like crispy garlic in the garlic chicken dish I ordered. My friend got Thai basil said it was delious diffrent flavors then other places. It was all cooked yo protection with love, and came out in a timely manner. The best Samosas you've ever tasted have some curry and I can't tell you the rest just try it. Melts in your mouth and 2 is just enough but could eat the whole thing. Service was efficient laid back and friendly. Not rushed at all! Located at the bottom of housing?? It's like a underground garage with a restaurant and patio. It's cute and homely, there's plenty of setting both inside and patio area the walls are old random doors, so cool! I will be back sooner than later.

Yelp
Dope place! Passed by it a lot and looks small from the outside but they have a good amount of seating once you get inside and they also have outside seating too! The service was outstanding and the food was great. Favorite thing is the basil fried rice and this dessert which is like a cheesecake but lighter and mango flavored. Thai coffee was on point too definitely recommend this spot for Thai

Yelp
This is our go-to Thai food restaurant; the food is flavorful, the portions are generous, and they're always quick and friendly. We highly recommend the basil chicken and avocado fresh rolls but you can't really go wrong with anything on the menu. We usually go there for dinner but it's also a cute spot in the warmer months for a longer lunch in their back patio area.

Yelp
Came here to lunch and they are dog friendly! An amazing Thai meal at Thai Taste. Got distracted with friends and didn't get a chance to take photos of each dish! Highly recommend each dish we ordered. The pad see ew, basil chicken with egg, roti with yellow curry sauce, moo ping (this was amazing and I could eat the whole plate of skewers), and the Khao mun gai (harder to share family style). The taste of each dish was memorable and I will be returning again!
google avatar

Yelp
It was quick to get a table and service. The staffing are all nice. We got the bbq chicken with papaya salad we thought the chicken was going to be saucy but it's it much closer to being fried checking. Either way it's delicious. The papaya salad is a refreshing compliment. As an appetizer, we also had a roti. This one is interesting because it's deep fried and not just pan-fried. This has an extra crunch which our loves and just devoured. The pad see ew is very flavorful and on the sweeter side. While yellow curry is perfectly balanced. Everything is well proportioned.

Yelp
First time trying this spot and must say it did not disappoint. Got 3 different dishes to share with my wife and it was PLENTY of food for two. Portion sizes are good, even for takeout. My favorite was the Pad Ki Mao with beef. This was well executed for takeout and maintained heat well in their lunch containers. Good mixture of noodles veggies and meat. My wife enjoyed her yellow curry over rice. It was filling and not overly sweet like some other Thai spots. They actually put a good amount of veggies and shrimp in the curry which made it feel worth the purchase. Service was super fast for a Friday night in busy piedmont ave. They were pleasant inside as well. Recommend you try this spot.

Yelp
My most recent visit I ordered crab fried rice, drunken noodles, crispy chicken and roti with curry dip. Everything was fresh and delicious.... Except I was eating the crab rice and found a hair in it!!! There's NOTHING WORSE THEN FINDING HAIR IN YOUR FOOD!!! The chefs don't wear hair nets which is strange.... Threw away the whole dishes couldn't eat after that...

Yelp
I've ordered take-out here twice. Here's my latest takeaway on the food: *Crispy Chicken* Not very impressed with the Crispy Chicken. Tasted great but there wasn't very much protein and consisted of mainly flour i.e. the dish was served with a good portion size, however, each piece had little meat. Rating: 3.5/5 stars *Pumpkin Curry* Delicious, a little spicy. Rating: 4/5 stars *Fried Chicken over Garlic Rice* Same criticism as the crispy chicken entree. Not enough meat. Rating: 3/5 stars

Yelp
This is by far one of my favorite Thai restaurants. Whether I'm doing take out or dinning in their lovely backyard.
google avatar

Jessica R.

Yelp
The crispy pork belly was very tasty, but the pad thai was disappointing: the sauce was too sweet & tasted like ketchup.

Katie R.

Yelp
This is our go to spot for Thai food! Consistently amazing, authentic, and friendly..we go every time we crave Thai food!

Yelp
I stopped by Thai Taste Kitchen around 7:00 p.m. on a Monday evening and the place was completely empty inside. My party of five were seated immediately in the back of the restaurant. As it was a really cold day outside, the restaurant had space heaters in the restaurant running to keep patrons warm. My party ordered samosas and roti to share. Of the two appetizers, the roti with curry was far superior. Both items were fried, but the samosas tasted really dense compared to the light, fluffy roti. The curry had a really nice sweetness to it as well. For my main, I ordered pad Thai while my wife went with their fried pork and rice. My tofu pad Thai was a tad on the sour side, but otherwise it was a pretty standard preparation of the dish. The fried pork dish is crispy, but because of how small some of the pieces of pork are chopped up, you end up with the protein being overcooked, resulting in the pork tasting a little bit like jerky. I hear from my friends that Thai Taste Kitchen has a great outdoor seating area. I'll have to check that out next time when I stop by during the day when it's not pouring rain outside.
google avatar

Meka B.

Yelp
We use to love this place. They had no problem making vegan items. But then everything changed. They started saying they couldn't accommodate us and began being rude. We started going to a place across the street
google avatar

Alize J.

Yelp
It was my first visit. The food wasn't terrible. However, I did feel like our server was a bit short with us when my friend asked a question & when we needed a little bit more time to decide what to order.

Yelp
Soooo good and the staff is so nice! I would recommend to anyone who's in Oakland/ San Fran area

Yelp
Absolutely the ffriendliest people working there and I enjoyed the food. They have an amazing patio. I appreciate kind people and this place has a kind staff.

Yelp
Walking in and seeing the kitchen was really cool. Love to see the chef doing their thing! I went on a Sunday around 7pm and the restaurant was pretty empty (usual for that time on a Sunday). They have around 10 tables inside and a nice outdoor patio. After checking out the back it was a bit quiet for me. I headed back in because there was bit of an odor inside. Not horrible, but noticeable so I sat inside by the door. I ordered the samosas, pad see ew and and thai iced coffee. The samosas were different than I've had at other thai places. They're smaller, triangle shaped and have a thing flaky crust. They came with a sweet cucumber sauce and OMGGGGG they were so good, perfect finger food. The pad see ew was also some of the best I had. I think I'd rate one place better and they aren't open anymore! Perfect temperature, good amount of sauce and the noodles weren't soggy. As I write this I realized I didn't order extra egg like I normally do, but I didn't even notice at the time. After dinner I indulged in the Thai iced coffee and... I don't even have the words. I went 5 days ago and I've thought about it everyday since! Everything about this place was great. I haven't tried enough of the menu items to give 5 starts, I can't wait to eat my way through the menu and give y'all an update!

Donna G.

Yelp
Don't even wanta tell you how amazing this food is!! Let's keep it our secret!! Every dish was so delicious and authentic.. I thought I was back in beautiful Thailand!

Yelp
Thai Kitchen is always a reliable Thai takeout in the Piedmont Ave neighborhood. Anyone who frequents this area may know, but the restaurant who took owned this location always seemed to turnover every year or two. I hope they stick around for a lonnngg time cause they have a unique spin versus most Thai restaurants (but don't quote me), but at the same time, it's a very solid place that could satisfy your Thai craving anytime. I highly recommend checking out their "Thai street food" and "Chef's Recommendation" part of their menu. I haven't seen some of these dishes - at least so far - in other Thai counterparts. But then again, this is coming from someone who only had Thai food in the Bay so what do I know. P.S. I love the garlic rice so much in my chicken over rice I always get a side... try it! It's so yummy.

Vasco V.

Yelp
Had an excellent meal here with my girlfriend. Servers were kind, the vibe was homey and warm. Got the Moo Ping and Pad See Ew. Was delicious. Reasonable prices as well. I'll be returning.
google avatar

Suresh D.

Yelp
A very well priced family owned restaurant with fresh food with reasonable quality ingredients. The interior is basic with chairs and self serve food service option. The food is made to order and is done quickly if you go right before the lunch hour craziness. The price of a dish is around $10 and the quantity is enough for one person. Cash only place which is a drawback but for this price don't think they can afford to wait for weeks to get paid and pay credit card service fee to credit card vendor. Bottom line will visit this place again
google avatar

Alexandria G.

Yelp
Food is usually amazing but the hair in my food is a no!!!! I was unable to finish my food and it wasn't worth it to call because they most likely would have asked me to come and bring the food back. Which is impossible on my lunch break.
google avatar

Tiffany P.

Yelp
We came on a Thursday night and there was no wait! There was plenty of parking on the street as well. I would definitely recommend getting the pad kee-mao! It was so flavorful and my favorite dish here! The mango sticky rice was really good as always but it was smaller than I expected. For $10 I thought it was going to be a bigger portion. Even though it wasn't that bad, I wouldn't get the papaya salad again.
google avatar

Joseph N.

Yelp
Finally able to dine at the restaurant, enjoyed their back patio. Ba Mee Moo Dang Poo: I'm a sucker for these thin egg noodles, and the pork, green onions, garlic, and crab were a nice mix. Pork wasn't dry. Yummy dish. BBQ Chicken with Papaya Salad: Sticky rice and papaya salad were solid. Surprisingly, parts of my chicken were very overcooked and dry (one seemed overcooked to point that the meat crunched when I bit into it). Not sure if it was intentionally cooked this way. Definitely looked a far cry from the photo on the menu. Disappointed by this. Outdoor patio was overall fine, but I wish a bit more thought were put into the ambiance. For whatever reason, it was also really loud. Everyone's conversations carried over through the entire area. It was a fine outdoor dining experience, but I wish it was more pleasant. Overall, this particular experience was three stars, due to the overcooked chicken. Happy to give it another try in the future. The visual menu presents a lot of appealing dishes l'd love to try. Note: They don't serve alcohol here, but you can bring your own.
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
This was super affordable and had a really cute outdoor area. It was a Friday night, but there was no wait to get in. Come support this cute neighborhood spot and make sure you ask for chili sauce to go with your entrees! Pad thai was good and I was able to get the peanuts on the side due to a table nut allergy.

Leila K.

Yelp
Always fast, courteous service (usually order take out.) The khao mun gai is delicious and flavorful.

Yelp
Great food yum yum. Always ready for a repeat. Staff is friendly. I always take out so can't speak for the ambience.
google avatar

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE! Absolutely delicious, but everyone who ate from here last night is suffering terrible food poisoning today. 100% from Thai taste. I suspect unsanitary conditions and am calling the health inspector as soon as they open.
google avatar

Gloria V.

Yelp
I love love Thai taste kitchen. I used to live in this general area and would frequent the location. Now, I still come back. The prices have gone up since pre-COVID like all other restaurants. However, the quality and portion size has remained the same and now there is open seating. My 3 favorites in no particular order: 1. Basil chicken with egg on top with rice - this is a grounded up chicken mixed with some very flavorful sauce with basil - not spicy at all 2. Crispy chicken with rice - hot or Thai hot - fried chicken pieces covered with flavorful sauce that can be spicy or no spicy and includes some bits of veggies 3. Chicken over garlic rice with soup on the side - not spicy at all, when I want something that doesn't have too many sauce, herbs, and spice but still tasty. I'm very used to just doing takeout at this location but will try dining in some time.

Yelp
This is our go to Thai place. We like their pad thai, pad see ew, pineapple fried rice and yellow chicken curry. Just wish they had eggplant tofu, which is also a favorite of ours. Their take-out is super fast- usually the wait is only 15 minutes.

Yelp
Great spot for Thai food take out! I got the papaya salad, pad Thai, pad see ewe, and pork belly w rice. Everything was delicious! Would def come back again.

Yelp
First thing impressed me was the open kitchen right at the entrance. Smart way to advertise the restaurant as people will be tempted by the delicious smell. We ordered crab fried rice, pad thai and basil chicken. Their spicy level is edible compared to my other favortie Thai restaurant. If you can handle spicy food, go for extra spicy, trust me you will survive. Crab fried rice: 5/5 The best out of three meals we got. Lots of crab meat, rice was perfectly seasoned, moist but also crispy from being stir fried with high flame. Pad thai: 4/5 It's good, but not my favorite. I personally love chewy noodles for pad thai, but this pad thai noodles were super soft kind broken in pieces. Also, i wish the sauce was lesser, it was kind of salty for me even after putting lime in. Basil chicken with fried egg: 3/5 The least of my favorite out of three orders. Chicken was super salty even we ate with the full portion of rice. Not much flavor and chicken was grounded too small. Cute patio set up, clean restaurant and staff was really friendly.

Yelp
Yummy in my tummy. Friendly service and cool location. Back area patio is great for summer nights.

Yelp
Uniquely delicious flavors! Tiny storefront; comfortably sized interior and patio. Treats served quickly...and worth relaxing for a while to enjoy. A surprise! And we will be back for more.

Yelp
I love Thai food, and have tried a LOT of Thai restaurants. Thai Taste Kitchen is the best Thai food I have had in California. The food is fresh, full of complex, delicious flavors (and you can customize spice level in many dishes), and just all around amazing. Their food feeds my soul when nothing but yummy Thai food will do. The crispy chicken is a miraculous feat of crunchy tastiness! How does anything get that crispy??!!! Pad see ew is fabulous, as are their yellow curry chicken and Pad Thai. We have only done takeout, so I can't comment on service, but their takeout is quick and they've never made a mistake with my order. I HIGHLY recommend this great restaurant. Thank you, Thai Taste Kitchen for many happy dinners!

Eve L.

Yelp
mango cake and mango sticky rice deserts. amazing, we loved both. Have never had this version. Best ever.

Yelp
Really good foodthe red curry and Thai iced tea are so good! The Thai iced tea is perfectly balanced and not too sweet

Yelp
Thai Taste has become our favorite Thai restaurant on Piedmont Ave. They get their dishes pretty much perfect every single time that we keep coming back. Some of the entrees we've had include: -pad see ew -pad thai -kao soy -crispy pork belly with rice -basil chicken with rice -thai iced tea (with coconut milk!!) Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with any item on the menu. Their to go packaging is also meticulous that the food and liquids are still intact when we get home. They don't play around with spice levels (we love spicy but we made the mistake of getting both a medium kao soy and medium pad see ew and wished we'd gotten a mild pad see ew instead). Lovely establishment, fair prices, and oh so yummy meals. Thank you, Thai Taste Kitchen!

Yelp
It looks small from the outside entrace, but this place has a lovely back patio area that has been my go-to spot for lunch mtgs. And if you need to do some work, they have decent wifi too. Staff is attentive and you never feel rushed. They will do thai tea w/ coconut milk (for us lactose intolerant folks) and my fav dishes are their pad ke mao and the fried pork belly dish.

Osaze R.

Yelp
Served me funky crab fried rice. Thank god only 2 memeber of my family ate some of it And not everyone
