This Hollywood Thai Night Market Brings Bangkok Vibes and Food to LA | Eater LA

"I admired Thai Tasty’s colorful traditional desserts—flower-shaped jellies, mung bean marzipan fruits (luk chup), and Thai coconut custards—prepared by a mother-daughter duo." - Kat Thompson

Every time when miss my home country we just headed to this delicious place. We love the taste of food, Thai tea and even cold water you can tell it is different from another place you have been ordered just ice water. Thank you so much for cooking authentic Thai food and also special yummy hometown recipes. Yummy 😋

Jim C.

Google
A very fine meal. Curry was on point, pad Thai was nice and spicy. Appetizers were very good as well. This is a very good spot and we will definitely be back.

I have eaten at Thai Tasty for over a decade. Best Thai food in Jackson. It is a small family owned and run place. The food has been consistently good over 10 years. They do a tremendous amount of to-go food. The Pad Thai is the most flavorful in the city. It is more “wet” than “dry” in terms of the sauce on it — which I love. It is tangy and and umami. The house curry is the other unsung hero at Thai Tasty — deliciousness in a bowl! I always recommend this place to Jackson newcomers. So worth a try!

Google
We love this! The best Thai food in my opinion. New Year (2025) new menu. We love the most: chicken yellow curry medium, shrimp pad thai medium, & steamed goyoza but it's all terrific

Marla W.

Google
Best Thai food. The Spring Rolls are homemade and delicious! Try it you will not be disappointed!

It was my first visit here and I loved it . Lots of vegetarian options too. Food tasted good and came quickly to the table . Would go back again

For three years, I have been obsessed with Thai Tasty’s food! My top three addictions from their menu are; Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Basil Fried Rice. Everything is good, though! My husband and I would eat there multiple times a week during the busyness of wedding planning, Beyond the food, Le and his mother are such kind and generous people that it’s been a total joy to get to know them better through returning again and again and again for food. We even had them cater our rehearsal dinner!

Google

Yelp
Authentic. Quick. A really nice hole in the wall Thai food spot in a very bad part of Jackson. I'd recommend getting to go!

Yelp
I cannot understand why this place isn't hard to get into! It is the best Thai I've had in a long time. Period. I feel like Momma was in the kitchen cooking me my favorites. I was able to make special changes and it was no problem. I will be their newest , best customer!

Yelp
First time back at Thai Tasty since the pandemic. Not much as changed except some items being out. Service is very efficient here. I wouldn't call it friendly but it's also not rude. They take care of you and make sure your glass is refilled timely and check on you here and there. Again, I wouldn't call it rude but it's just efficient. Once you seat yourself, a server brings you the menu and takes your drink order. I wanted the Thai dumplings but they were out so I got the fried wontons instead. I've never had wontons that were meat filled (just the cream cheese kind is all I've had) but I loved these! It was a minced chicken and shrimp mixture that had a hint of flavor but the wonton wrapper couldn't have been tastier. I was trying to figure out if they seasoned the wrapper or not because it tasted better than the filling to me. For my entree I got the phad woon sen and added fried tofu. I got the Thai hot spice. This is my standard dish I order at most Thai restaurants but the first where fried tofu was an option and only the second time for me to get Thai hot. The tofu isn't deep friend but more of pan fried as it was semi-crispy without it being battered and greasy. The Thai hot was HOT! They couldn't keep my water glass filled fast enough as some points lol. But it was good. I like to drizzle the wonton sauce over the noodles. Adds an extra layer of flavor to me. So glad I got to go back here. I love to support local spots and this is one of my favorites in my area.

Yelp
I'm still a huge fan of their delicious meals. They are always so nice and speedy with my order. I miss visiting this place as I have in the past.

Yelp
The best pad thai I've ever had. I've been a faithful customer for 10 years. Also love the drunken noodles and pineapple curry but literally everything I've ever tried is great. The owners are incredibly nice which makes supporting a great business even better. Kid friendly atmosphere.

Yelp
I hadn't been here in years and I took my son there last week. He's 11 but anadventuresome eater. The curry and chicken pad Thai were delicious as usual ! We will be back.

Cora D.

Yelp
Best Thai restaurant in town. I eat here regularly and it's consistently good food and good service.

Eric G.

Yelp
Tasty indeed. Very kind and helpful staff albeit he was working quite hard. A nice local place for a quick, fresh and tasty meal

Mike R.

Yelp
Gross very nasty tasty chewy like cat or ostrege or maybe like dove but not good at all
google avatar

Kasee C.

Yelp
Very consistently good Thai food. Rarely have trouble getting them on the phone and once you do quick and to the point getting order taken which is great. Food is always ready by the time they give you and it's yummy! The Tom kha soup is fabulous and the pad see ew and pad kee mao are both delicious. The pad Thai isn't my favorite, but the others keep me coming back. I usually only go here for lunch take out. The inside isn't particularly nice and the area is pretty sketchy after dark, but I will continue to be a faithful lunch orderer here!

Yelp
We stumbled upon Thai Tasty when we were looking for something to eat for dinner. We ate in the restaurant and it seemed like they had a good bit of call in and carry out business. They were really fast with the appetizers. We both got chicken pad Thai. One was normal and the other was medium heat. The medium heat was pretty hot. It was very authentic. I really liked the gyozo as well. All of the food had a nice flavor. One of the pad Thais came out a few minutes before the second one was brought to us which was a bit awkward. The lady that works there was really nice and friendly.

Yelp
Nice restaurant in north jackson. The place is located in a strip mall that has many shops shut down. Dont let that judge you the food here! Not a perfect ambience but they welcome like you are eating in their home. The thai iced tea was great! Have ordered their house special for lunch which had many types of veggies with ouster sauce and cashews. You get to choose the meat. Huge portions, great food! Service was very home like. Only thing for me was the price was on little high side. Do check them out for the food!

Yelp
I wanted so badly to love Thai Tasty. I've heard great things, and all the reviews seem to be pretty positive. So my coworker and I took the plunge and ordered Pad Thai's to go. The gentleman who took the order over the phone was very nice. I was going to go with the medium spiciness, but he said that their mild had quite some kick to it. Hey, what do I know. Every restaurant is different, and he works there. So I got the mild. Fast forward to me VERY eagerly opening my food...and it's bright red. I have never seen Pad Thai this color before. My coworker who ordered hers with no spice at all, also had a bright red box of noodles. So at this point, I'm confused. Is this somehow going to be a scorcher? Also what's with only like 5 bean sprouts? This Pad Thai looks really naked. Looking through pictures of their Pad Thais on Yelp, what I received looks nothing like the others. Kind of weird, in my opinion. I love Pad Thai, and I know that some places can err on the sweet side, but this one was somewhat overwhelmingly sweet. The flavor was just off. Also, the bright red? Total facade. There was absolutely no spiciness whatsoever. I should have gone with the medium. Anyways, in summary. The Pad Thai was not that good. But I would not be opposed to going back and trying something else - perhaps one of the curries.

Yelp
Thai Tasty never disappoints. Thai basil rice, House Curry, and the Orange Chicken are all showstoppers. This is the best Thai in Jackson.
google avatar

Jim G.

Yelp
Fantastic. Not crowded, not fancy, but quick and really good. House curry, beef noodle soup.

Sacajawea H.

Yelp
We love this small family run gem. The food is freshly made and authentic! the service is friendly. The space is clean and welcoming with beautiful Thai art. Family friendly as well.
google avatar

Farjad K.

Yelp
The curry here was absolutely amazing. I got the red curry at a 5/5 spice level and it was actually still tasty instead of just pure spice. The appetizer I got was the beef salad I saw many reviews about on here. However I didn't enjoy it really. It had a tough smell to it and tasted very vinegar-y. Maybe it just wasn't for me. The service for dining in and the overall presentation of dishes was lacking bit. But I would recommend this place if you want a delicious Thai curry
google avatar

Katherine J.

Yelp
Four words: beef jerky fried rice-- you won't regret it. Btw, the pad Thai was pretty good too! I would get both dishes again.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
Great taste, well prepared, WEAK ON THE MEAT and small portions. I just want more beef, chicken or shrimp in meal. But like I said above, great taste, fresh, Just don't expect the American size portions
google avatar

Charles L.

Yelp
I came to the city for a job interview, but never expected to find a Thai food restaurant in Jackson. I had the red curry with, and it was actually pretty tasty. While I waited for the food to be prepared, the server chatted me up and had a good time talking. If I ever came back, I would definitely make this one of my favorite restaurants

S M.

Yelp
Thai dumplings and sweet and sour entree were delicious. Food was ready in good timing and reasonable pricing for 3 different dishes. First time visiting and plan to return

Yelp
PLEASE TAKE HEED - do not force yourself to eat bad food - avoid this place. The worst thai restaurant I have ever visited, and Thai food is one of my favs. Jackson MIssissippi Yelp, You Fooled Me so Imma tell EVERYBODY THE REAL TRUTH IMPORTANT NOTE - when you ask for your mostly liquid sauced food to be put into spill proof containers instead of a lidded styrofoam box; you are met with resistance. The attitudes matched the atmosphere - a total mess. They need to clean up their cluttered restaurant; as well as hire someone to cook who understands Thai food, and knows how to cook Thai food. Not All Asian Food Tastes Like Chinese Food Folks - NOTICE - If you ask for medium, you will get -0- spice. the food was so bland I threw it away after paying $11.00 for it because quite frankly only the steamed rice was edible. I literally begged the person who bagged my food to wrap it properly so it wouldn't be on the floor of my car before I got back to my hotel 20 minutes away. now if that's too much to ask for, why don't you just stop offering take aways totally. Learn to put liquids in a liquid container. soup doesn't go into a styrofoam lidded plate owner - anyone begging you to put their food into a proper container should get your attention. Why not include more than one napkin with dinner ? are you afraid to offer condiments since you don't spice the food when ordered ? this place really has me thinking and to be clear, I never give reviews like this unless it it 100% truth time. This place needs to find a clue and use it. Folks Know that if you go here you are getting Something other than Thai food and whatever it is won't have any spice, not garlic, basil or even chili pepper.
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
Very friendly staff. Really great food that is very fresh. I am not a Thai expert, but the panang and the steamed dumplings were terrific.
google avatar

Carol S.

Yelp
This is my go-to Thai! Pad Thai is my fave. People are kind and my food is always hot and ready for takeout.
google avatar

Yelp
So I see there's a lot of haters below who have clearly lost their minds and their taste buds. I've been to 25 countries, lived in Paris, NYC, California and Atlanta ans this is hands down the best Thai food I have ever had. It's literally my safe haven on bad days because the service rivals the amazing food. Kind hearts and you can taste the love they put into their food. Curry. Noodles. Soups. Fried rice. All amazing. Personal fav is that they cater to my funky diet: I'm a vegan and allergic to nuts and they're willing to remove egg or add veggies whenever I ask. Pineapple fried rice, Tom Kha coconut soup, Pad See Ew are my personal favorites. Definitely the best Thai food around for sure!!!
google avatar

Yoori C.

Yelp
I can't believe I didn't know Thai Tasty opened 8 months ago. Where have I been? Sad part about not living in the north side of Jackson anymore, but definitely worth the drive. I ordered the Goong Sarong aka "crispy prawns" and it was beautifully presented but didn't stand out too much as a dish. The dipping sauce is indeed sweet but it paired well. I have to get Tom Kha at any Thai place I go to. It's my pad thai (which is the plate some people use to judge a Thai restaurant), which I never really order since it's usually on the sweeter side for me. There was more coconut milk than I was used to but still good. Finally, the Pad See Iew with beef was a giant plate that I couldn't finish but smelled and tasted equally delicious. I always overestimate myself, but this made for an awesome lunch and I skipped dinner. Definitely recommend Thai Tasty over Thai House, but it's on par with Fusion (which isn't original Thai food in my opinion).
google avatar

Duan C.

Yelp
I was pleased with the food at Thai Tasty. So far I've tried the combination fried rice, Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups. The soups exceeded my expectations, the fried rice tasted very good. The only knock? The portion on the fried rice was on the short side in my opinion when I compared them to Fusion. But they are very nice people - from the moment you walk in the door, to the moment you leave - they are grateful that you came and did business with them. Whereas with Fusion, I've had some bumps along the way - and we are repeat customers, so that kind of troubles me. I wish they were open later on Fridays and Saturdays, but hopefully that will change once they get their legs under them and their business continues to grow. Since they are new - you will have no trouble getting your grub in a timely fashion. Give them a try and I hope you enjoy.

Yelp
Original Thai food! Tastes 100% like imports from Thailand! The owner and cooks are also Thai! They are very kind and service minded. I am trying to be vegan, so I order PadThai with Tofu. You may also order combination, original or Shrimp PadThai! surely delicious!

Ann H.

Yelp
Best Tom Kah ever! Vegetable spring rolls are awesome! Can't wait to go back! Great service!
google avatar

Sem C.

Yelp
This place is still open and still delicious! I love the Singapore noodles and panang curry! Try their spring rolls or curry puffs! If they don't answer the first time, keep calling! They are slammed on the weekends. They are opening For dining and wear masks!
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
The food was good but I think they miss some of our orders up. I ordered mild but my curry was still spicy. A friend ordered spicy but said it wasn't spicy. But it was still good and I had good left over to take home.

Martin H.

Yelp
Very flavorful and with good prices. Excellent options. Freddie provided great service. We will be back!

Yelp
I was looking for Shrimp Fried Rice while out on an errand and drove past this location, so I decided to Call in an order for pick up. This is the BEST thing I could've ever done. The restaurant sits in a plaza, and was very empty when I got there so I was in and out WITH 3 minutes. The staff was nice and friendly. They had my order ready at the counter. I ordered Shrimp fried Rice with Medium heat. It totaled around $13, which shocked me because the menu online had another price but MANNNNN it was worth every penny (or DOLLAR LOL)!! The shrimp were HUGE and was really fresh! The rice was very delicious with a nice heat to it. I ate so much of the rice without the shrimp and I NEVER do this. I say give this spot a chance. The only reason I don't have pics is because I ate it all before I could even think about sharing with Yelp. Maybe next time I'll have my phone out and ready before I take the first bite!!

Clare B.

Yelp
This is my go to Thai food in Jackson. It is delicious- always reliable and the service is so wonderful! We come here all the time. Probably too much...they know my order and recognize my voice when I call. We just placed an order and went back to the car to wait. One of the guys just walked us out some ice cream just because. Also- my son had an egg allergy and they always remember to ask about which dishes can have eggs and which can't.
google avatar

Tiffany N.

Yelp
Our kryptonite is tofu curry and pad thai from Thai Tasty. Somehow, my budget will always accommodate the $20 price tag despite my wallet size but, hey, gotta treat yourself every once in a while, right (by once in a while I mean every week). The panang, green, and red curries are bomb! My favorite so far is the parang, which is a combination of sweet and savory, filled with well cooked peppers and either a meat choice or tofu (shrimp costs extra), paired with rice. You can get it mild, but I love getting everything thai hot. I don't find it too spicy to be honest. The pad Thai is delicious! Definitely worth trying. I would say it's my second favorite next to Surin in Fondren. However, nobody can top that curry!!

Kelly J.

Yelp
Definitely worth the trip! There was quite a bit of carry out orders, not too many people dining in but dining room is open and service was great. Everyone in our group said their food was amazing. The orange chicken was deliciously crunchy and the veggies were perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!!

Darius W.

Yelp
I love this gem of a restaurant. Food is great, they have both a dinner and lunch menu. Everyone is very friendly and there is a very authentic atmosphere. Definitely recommend making Thai Tasty your neighborhood Thai restaurant of choice I'm headed there now actually.
google avatar

Fatima P.

Yelp
Food was average. I had Pad Thai & it was bland. Will not be back. Small restaurant. Very clean place. Chicken was tough. Not sure if this was the way Thai food is made in Miss. We're from Texas & Thai food has a lot of flavor.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
This place has a solid beef salad dressing, the best in Jackson I'd have to say. I come here just for that, I've had their other dishes too which were good, but their beef salad is on point.
google avatar

Yvonne W.

Yelp
Amazed this little spot has not had any recent updates. The place is ideal for quick Thai takeout in the city. The options are a winner no matter what you choose. I think my favorite is the simple Phad Thai. Also can not go wrong with the chicken satay. It's not the most popular spots and flies under the radar but my recent visit I was impressed. (Disclaimer: I had my food ordered to go and did not enter the venue so I am unable to speak on the interior. But the food was really tasty!)

Brittany B.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Absolutely love the food and the Thai iced tea. So refreshing. I eat here at least twice a month. Try the beef jerky fried rice medium spicy! Mmmhmm!
google avatar

Matthew G.

Yelp
Great Thai Food and Great owners! We love all their food and even the free coconut ice cream with your meal!
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
A nice surprise for Jackson. Authentic Thai with robust flavor and hospitality The PadThai is especially good. If you crave authentic Thai Cuisine come here

Zeke B.

Yelp
Easily the best Thai food in Jackson. Pad Thai is great, curry is delicious, pretty much everything on the menu is perfect. And I've tried just about everything on the menu. They are pretty conservative with the heat, so order a step above your normal spiciness, but they definitely make up for it with how liberal they are with the sauce. Seriously, the dishes are very saucy. If Thai Tasty were a sauce politician, they would probably be Michael Moore. When I have a bad day, Thai Tasty. When I have a good day, Thai Tasty. Pretty much it's the only reason I'm still living in Jackson.
google avatar

Sydney M.

Yelp
Very delicious food! They've been in Jackson for 2 years now, but I just tried them for the first time. The food is great and reasonably priced. I went with friends and we ordered the curry puffs for an appetizer which were really good but kinda pricey ($6 for 3 puffs). I got the Green Curry, my friends got the Massaman curry and the pad thai. Both loved their dishes, and I loved mine! We all ordered our mild, but there was still some heat. I always feel silly ordering mild dishes at places that are traditionally spicy, but I really am not built for spicy. You are given the chance to order it however spicy you want when you order. I asked for "as mild as you can make it," but those who know green curry know that it's one of the more spicier Thai dishes. I was definitely face sweating and tearing up a little bit at the mild level. But it was so good I don't care!!!! So the only downside is the service. Only one woman was waiting on all the tables. She was a little discombobulated for the most part and couldn't remember which table asked for what sometimes. Also, all of our dishes came at separate times. The pad thai came with the appetizer (what.) and the green curry came 5 minutes before the massaman curry. I'm sure you've also read below and around the web that this place is BYOB. They've recently instated a "corkage" fee for alcohol. Before 7:00pm I think it's around $6, which is reasonable. But later than that, it shoots up to freakin' $15. That's just ridiculous. What's the point of bringing anything then? Honestly, that kinda makes me mad. I've been to upscale restaurants in Chicago that are BYOB and they only charge a flat $5. I really don't understand the need to charge $15, especially because being BYOB was a huge draw for me and my friends.

Yelp
We have had take out three times and dined in once. The food is superb, quality and quantity is excellent. Their appetizers are tasty. I enjoyed the cucumber salad, curry puffs, and calamari. We have eaten the red and yellow curry dishes. All were served piping heat hot and asked for spicy not Thai spices. Each dish hit the spice on the head and had an exquisite taste. The atmosphere is simple, plain and clean. I have driven by it for the past two years and never noticed it in the strip center until recently. I enjoyed the food and service better than I did at Surin.
