I ordered sweet potato curry with tofu from them last night at Concerts on the Square because it was labeled on their menu board as gluten-free.. I have celiac disease, so usually bring my own food for safety, but since the event was postponed from Wed to Thurs due to rain, I didn't have the time to prepare something ahead due to my busy Thurs schedule. Even though the item was marked as gluten-free, I asked when ordering to confirm & mentioned I have celiacs, since I can get very sick/internal damage if I'm exposed to gluten. The gal taking my order said yes, it's gluten-free. As I waited for my food, the woman preparing called out my name. She said that the tofu is fried with the spring rolls and asked if I still wanted it. This is a cross contamination issue for people with celiac disease, as even a tiny spec can make us very ill. So I thanked her for asking, said no, and asked if she could switch it to chicken. After getting my food, I walked to my spot on the other side of the square. My friend had arrived, so after chatting with her for about 10 minutes, I opened my meal to eat, and find tofu in it. This was frustrating, because she handed it to me just 3 minutes after asking me if I wanted tofu and me confirming that I did not and wanted chicken instead. So I walked back to the stand, explained the issue, and she apologized and said she'd make a new one. A few minutes later, she handed me the food. I walked back across the square to my spot, open the lid, and checked it for tofu; there was none, but there was also no chicken. No protein at all. I'd rather have no protein than tofu/ risk getting sick, but $12 for a few veggies, rice, and some sauce is ridiculous. And it honestly wasn't even that flavorful. I gave 2 stars because I appreciate the attention to detail in terms of asking me about the tofu since it's fried with other things, but then why did I get something with tofu 3 minutes later? And then when I brought it back and asked for one with chicken, why was there was no chicken? I would've understood if they ran out, but they should've told me and offered a refund. They also need to mark their board that the tofu is not gluten-free if it's fried with other gluten items, as this is deceptive to those of us with dietary restrictions. After this experience, I will not be ordering from this food truck again.
