Great location, service was to be desired. It was peak dinner time and we were able to get seated very quickly. The place was pretty much empty, but the service was a bit slow. The place had a nice vibe to it with fun decor. I ordered the dumplings and a drink from the bar to start and the Chicken Panang Curry for my entree. Food was good but portions were smaller than expected. I'd go back again to try another night. I'm sure it was just an off night.

Stopped here with my wife as we walked around Charleston and were having a hard time finding a place with open seating. We love Thai food and usually make it a point to grab some whenever we travel. Our server Damen was an absolute legend and was one of the friendliest people I’ve ever encountered in my life. He made some food suggestions which were all on point. The pad Thai dish was excellent, too. Ambiance was beautiful. All in all, highly recommend.

seated immediately, no wait. the Thai mango martini was delicious. satay was very good. loved the drunken noodles very spicy just like I like it (was spicy lvl 3) and we also had the red curry duck yum yum. highly recommend!

Wow! This place is incredible! I work at a nearby venue as a Director and walk by this place frequently. I decided to try it for lunch. Why haven’t I experienced this spot sooner?! The atmosphere is inviting and the area is clean. The service is impeccable and attentive. The food is fresh, flavorful, with healthy portions. It’s certainly an amazing value for anything you order. I ordered the Pad Thai with the fresh Basil Rolls in a rice wrap. It was a work of art! I’m definitely going back more frequently and recommending ThaiZapp to friends and family.

With it being Sunday when we arrived in Charleston, several places closed early, so we went exploring/familiarizing ourselves with the neighborhood after settling into the rental and found this awesome little Thai place open till 9:30. Mister and I shared a chicken satay. He had a bloody Mary and I had a mai tai. They may seem pricey,, but they are packing a puncher! For dinner, he had the special, sauteed shrimp and crispy soft shell crab with veggies. I went with the crispy duck in red curry. Everything was delicious and service was outstanding.

Went in tonight to have dinner. A couple of people had recommended it. I was really craving Thai food. We ordered three appetizers and was looking to order entrees when the appetizers came out . One look at them and I was turned off. We tasted them and they were inedible. I told the waitress they were inedible and she apologized. I asked for the bill and she said she would give me 50% off. When she gave me the bill she had only taken off 10%. I paid the bill and we left. What a true disappointment. Sorry but I will not give them anymore of my business.

What a lovely find! We’ve passed by numerous times on our way to somewhere else and never stopped. Boy were we missing out. Cozy atmosphere delicious food and our server, Damon was the best. We will definitely be back!!

The food was EXCELLENT, especially the pineapple fried rice (omg!), and Damon the waiter was even better. Definitely coming back!

Upon entering the establishment I was at first skeptical since it was practically empty at prime time on a Friday night in downtown Charleston. There was no music playing and there was only one other group of customers in the restaurant; we could overhear their entire conversation. (At the very end of the meal they did turn music on.) The food was pretty good, we had the Pad See Eu and the Red Curry. Neither were crazy spicy but they had a decent flavor to them. I will say the best Thai food in town remains Ti-Ney Bangkok Folly (in my experience). Service was very quick and kind.

So sorry, but this is a no from me. Should have known when we walked in at near 1pm and were the only people there. Space clean and service very friendly. The food was the least authentic we've had in this area. Apps seemed like frozen stuff dropped in a fryer. The meals were overly sweet, no heat. Our server was the only bright spot and even she could tell we weren't thrilled with the food. Asked for sriracha and they brought tobasco brand, major clue!

A couple friends and I decided we needed a break from eating traditional southern food and decided to get some Thai food for dinner. This restaurant was really cutely decorated, and the food was pretty good. I had the drunken noodles and they were very saucy. I appreciated that they didn't go light on the spice. The prices were a little bit high, but the portions were really large.

Good Food and great portions but service needs a lot of improvement we had a large group About 6 families of 4 each. The restaurant was able to seat us all but in separate tables as they didn't have a large enough table for all of us. About the service the tables didn't have silver ware or paper napkins or any kind of napkin, and they never brought one to the table. We tried to make it easy for them by asking them to take orders by family so they can bring a separate check for each family but they failed to be organized and showed their frustration to us by throwing tantrums and weird looks. Coming to the food, the quantity is great, and food tasted very good and is cooked to taste and they followed the instructions on spice levels I believe the cooking staff is doing an excellent job at sending out orders. Recommend this restaurant if you do not mind the poor service of the waiting staff.

We were craving Asian food and a lot of places had a wait. This one did not so we got in immediately. Was not provided a drink menu but they did have a huge bar so not sure if they were serving? The food was delicious though. Small portions as I did eat all of it. Would go back if I needed a last resort with no wait

First time trying this restaurant, and we were super impressed! They had tons of vegan options, including appetizers, meals, and desserts. The food was absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is nice, it's quiet, and it wasn't too crowded or rowdy. Service was very quick and our server was attentive. We will absolutely be back!

I did a DoorDash with this restaurant. I'm on Johns Island and was sure this would arrive cold. It did not! I was floored. My wife is a Pad Thai fan so I ordered that and some Green Curry with chicken. Both dishes were delicious! Thank you DoorDash for making the long trip. I would recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone. It's wonderful! I will certainly do this again.

This is the best Thai food I've had in Charleston so far and I can't believe it is not more busy. We came on a Saturday night and there was still tons of tables to sit our party of eight. The restaurant is well-decorated and servers are quick and efficient. I always order family style when I come just so everyone can try all the delicious dishes. We got the pad thai, pad see ew, coconut soup, larb gai, papaya salad, drunken noodles, and boat noodle soup. - They have the BEST pad thai - chewy noodles, the perfect sauce with just enough sweet and sour flavor, fresh bean sprouts, and protein of your choice. So good that we had to order a second plate. - The pad see ew has good flavor - I wish the noodles could have more char but the flavor is on point. - The larb gai is well-seasoned with sweet and sour fish sauce - a great appetizer to start off with. - The papaya salad is fresh and flavorful, with a skewer of shrimp on top. I would warn that we told the waitress our party had some people heavily allergic to peanuts and to take all the nuts out, but there was still peanuts mixed into this dish. - The drunken noodles are chewy with good flavor, but I'll always be more of a pad thai fan. - The boat noodles here are super savory and yummy. I don't see this dish often on menus so I always have to order it. Tons of umami and garlic flavor with rice noodles, strips of meat, and pork rinds. This definitely hits the spot. Truly the best Thai food in Charleston by far. Parking can be tough, but there is a paid parking garage right next door if you don't mind the hourly rate. Not the best place for people with severe nut allergies, but I will definitely be back!

I did not catch her name but she was also a single and was doing amazing! She was the only waitress and was going great! The rice we landed on was good I was expecting a bit more of the fried rice taste but it was still really good. Wouldn't change a thing and would definitely return.

Insanely good Thai restaurant!! I came here twice it was so good. I had a lot of food in Charleston and this was by far the best. Can't go wrong here. Absolutely worth the visit. I wasn't so sure from the outside of things, the food says it all though

Love it here. It's kind of a hole in the wall type of place, if you're just walking down the street you might miss it. Visiting Charleston, I'm so glad I was able to find a place with great Thai food. The man who served us was so welcoming and had a ton of great energy. Unsure what to order, he did an awesome job of walking us through the menu and suggesting some dishes. The crispy basil duck is to die for. 10/10

Thaizapp opened on the location of an old Hawaiian themed restaurant and they decided the decorations which now transport you into a beach resort in Thailand. The service is great, although the food did take a bit longer than expected to come to the table. I ordered the Massaman Curry which chicken which was really good and surprised me with the addition of pineapple which usually is not present in this type of curry. I went for a medium spice level (2 stars) and it was a perfect spicy but not impossible to eat level. Great addition in the area for an affordable quick delicious dinner.

The service and food were excellent! The waitress was working by herself with 8 tables and people at the bar. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Solid, affordable, but somewhat unconventional Thai fare in a prime location near the Public Market in downtown Charleston. When we went on a recent Sunday afternoon in March, the colorful and modestly sized dining room was sparsely filled but only one person was running the entire front of the restaurant. However, she was friendly and efficient, hopping from table to table with aplomb. For starters, we had the shrimp rolls, edamame, and tom Kha Gai. The soup was oddly sweet with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg--like some Thai holiday concoction (interestingly, it was served in a Christmas bowl). For entrees, we shared chicken Massaman, chicken Pad Thai, and beef Pad See Ew. All were decent but unspectacular. In particular, the thin Massaman lacked heft, flavor-wise and in texture, resembling a soup rather than curry. The Pad Thai was the best of the three, meeting expectations. Portions were on the smaller side, but priced fairly (fed my family of four for less than $90 including tip, which is almost unheard of downtown). Not the greatest Thai food around, but still a viable option. (3.25 stars).

I can't say anything about the service or the ambience as this review is based on a take out order that was delivered. This is my first time having Thai food since moving to Charleston 2 years ago, so I can't compare to other local spots, but based on my previous experiences (which are many), this was about as good as it gets. We had the Tom Kha soup, the Massaman Curry and the Drunken Noodles, basic staples for us at a Thai restaurant. We were very pleased, the spice was good, we ordered it level 2 and that was plenty spicy (and we're not spice wimps!) The curry was good and not oily like you can see sometimes. We'll definitely be adding this to our repertoire. Sorry, I didn't take photos.

Great experience here. I had sushi and chicken satay and my son had drunken noodles. For desert we shared mango sticky rice. The server was really nice and atmosphere is too - try it out if you are on the fence!

The most delicious and authentic Thai dishes - a delightful surprise. Wonderfully fresh ingredients that made me want to eat here every day . Best meal I had in Charleston and there was plenty of great competition ! Most gracious service, as well.

We ended up at Thai Zapp because Hymans and FIG had long waits. We probably should've waited. Despite being almost empty the service was rather slow. The pad Thai was average and the chicken satay had a funny taste. Also, they no longer serve sushi.

We heard that a new Thai restaurant opened up downtown on March 19, 2023. My husband checked it out and ended up bringing dinner home. The restaurant is a chain, but it's cozy and clean. The soup was delicious. The sushi bar looked amazing, so that's mainly what we ordered. We had four different rolls and they were absolutely first class. There was no 'fishy' smell when we opened the takeout boxes at home. The fish was fresh and beautiful. The rolls were much bigger than we expected. My husband drank a beer and chatted with the staff while our food was being prepared. Everyone was friendly and they took good care of him. I don't know what could've been done better. The next day, my daughter and a friend went downtown and, upon my recommendation, visited this restaurant. They said the food was top (they mostly had sushi) and the staff was great. It's a couple dollars more than Mount Pleasant sushi restaurants, but it's literally downtown across from the Charleston Place, which is perfect. We will definitely be back.

I ordered take out from Thai zapp. I ordered the masaman curry that I have had many times from other Thai restaurants- it was inedible. It tasted like salt and chemicals. I called to complain and ask for it to be remade or a refund- the woman who answered the phone said she would tell the chef but she was too busy to deal with it and hung up on me. Guess I will have to go off the peninsula for Thai food from now on. Don't waste your time on this overpriced gross attempt at Thai food.

We just ate at ties out for the second time. The food is absolutely delicious. The price is reasonable for Down Town. And the place is nice. I love Thai food and this is my favorite place now.

Exceptional service. The waitress is very nice and friendly, she also took out pictures. Love the ambiance. Great vegetarian options just ask them not to use fish sauce and they will make it for you. We loved all the dishes we tried there especially Ginger Tofu was amazing. Fried rice was very flavorful. Massaman curry and Pad See Eu was really tasty.

This place was absolutely dead when we walked in at 6:30 on a Friday night. And I have no idea why-- the food was PHENOMENAL! Truly delicious. Every single person at our table was satisfied. We all stopped talking for a while to just enjoy the hot, fresh food in front of us. The 2 was the perfect heat for me. My dad sweated his way through a 4, while my husband sweated his way through a 2! To each their own spice! This is the best place to go if you are planning to see a show at 34 West Theater next door. What a wonderful evening!

Thai Zapp really pretty restaurant in downtown Charleston. It's located at the front of a really large building, so it's really easy to locate! The service was fast & helpful. The food was incredible! Their sushi rolls are some of the biggest I have ever seen. The one pictured was only $13!

It was definitely not the best Pad Thai that I ever had! At best the food was fair. I decided to get the vegetable pad Thai. What I didn't like about it was the vegetables were all cut inconsistent. Some pieces were very large and awkward to eat. The carrots were thick pieces cut like crinkle fries! There was also under cooked green beans in it. In my dining out for pad Thai I have never had a pad Thai like this! Also, there were no fresh veggies like cilantro, shredded carrots or cabbage. I would have preferred the seasoned noodles with a few veggies and the fresh veggies on top. It was also pricey for the size of the serving-$15.95 We also got the crab Rangoon appetizer. There were 5 pieces that were a little chewy with not much filling for $7.95! Overall, I was not impressed and will not go back. Our waitress was super sweet! And the food was great. I got the red curry and it was delicious and spicy! Best chicken fried rice I've ever had too, super flavorful. The rest of my table seemed to love the sushi, green curry, and shrimp fried rice they got. Two things that weren't my favorite... 1. We got the stuffed shrimp for the table and it was a little plain... pretty much shrimp wrapped in rice paper and fried, not much flavor except for the dipping sauce. 2. They were playing remixed covers of pop songs the whole time, and it was a short playlist so it repeated itself while we were there. This might just be my preference, but I would prefer some variety in the music played. Thank you for a wonderful experience overall while visiting Charleston!

Spice level off the charts !!! I ordered spicy my wife ordered mild they switched the spice levels ... DO NOT EAT HERE ! Service sucks food is sub par atmosphere should have made me leave but we were hungry ......

If you're putting imitation crab in your crab rangoons (or as the owner told me "they're actually crab wontons") your getting an automatic 1 star. I don't care if they are fried dumpling wontons or GD fried crab balls, if your saying it has crab meat in it, but it's imitation crab, ITS A LIE. Then you should change the name to "imitation crab wonton" or "imitation crab balls" or "imitation crab dumpling". The duck special was anything but special. Too much breading, over cooked, and too much sauce, with not enough vegetables, in fact there was borderline no vegetables. Also had the fried rice which was pretty plain and ordinary. I don't know who the regular slobs are that eat here but this isn't a almost 5 star restaurant.

Unbelievable great food....the red curry chicken is the best I ever had. Not to mention the waitress was such a sweetheart!! By far the best value especially in pricey downtown Charleston.

We went to this awesome restaurant for lunch. The menu was extensive, we actually got 2 great menus, 1 for Thai food, and 1 for sushi. My husband and I had difficulty choosing due to so many delicious choices! My husband finally picked Crispy Duck at #2 heat level. The waitress was so accommodating, she brought out some spicier sauces in case he wanted more heat. She was very attentive, and made sure our water glasses were always full. I had Salmon Sashimi, and amazing Salmon Roll, which was so large I had to bring some home in a box. Actually the Salmon Sashimi was the star of the dinner for me, it was absolutely melt in your mouth deliciousness, and so plentiful! My husband couldn't stop raving about his Crispy Duck, and it was such a large portion he could barely finish it (which is rare!) The atmosphere was lovely, and the prices were fantastic! I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Very good food in a large casual space. The lady was also very sweet, portions are just right. We tried the papaya salad which came with grilled shrimp in a skewer, and it was very nice and fresh. The green curry was also very nice and tasty, spicyyyy!!

The food here is really good! I've gotten a few to-go orders from here and so far have tried the Pad Thai as well as the Pad See Eu. Both dishes were presented nicely and taste fantastic as well as made me feel fantastic after eating. I got level 3 spice because I enjoy a good bit of heat, so if you like spicy when others can't handle the heat, I would recommend getting level 3 spice. I recommend getting to-go over dining inside, but it is nice and a clean restaurant. Not your typical downtown fancy food but a very solid choice! More people should order food here! I parked on the Pinckney Street and zapped over to grab my food real fast. Super fast pick up experience other than my missing drink. My only complaints are that the sweet tea that I received tasted old and syrupy with sweetness. The tops of my bean sprouts were brown but they spoil fast and cost a lot so I understand. I still ate them and it was fine. And lastly I was slightly put off the way the person handled the interaction. I was greeted immediately upon entering and told where my food was, then *poof* they disappeared into the back before I could mention that I needed my drink I ordered, which seemed unwelcoming and so was the whole interaction, but that won't stop me from recommending this place for a quick and simple meal. Inside was nice though and the food slaps!

I have eaten at Thai Zapp several times and each time the food and the service were excellent. The ambiance is very nice as it is not very loud, and you can actually have a conversation without having to speak loudly. Speaking of conversation and excellent services, Yao, one of the servers at TZ was very kind, respectful and personable. She worked very hard there and was very attentive and friendly. She was very polite and helpful and made some great recommendations on dish options. I highly recommend going there for good Thai food, and excellent service by Yao and others there.

Pad Thai in drunken noodles had great flavor, I just wish they would've added more protein for a meal instead of mostly noodles. You must try the sticky mango rice for dessert!! It was amazing!

This is a very good place to get food in Charleston. I got the basil chicken and it was excellent. Staff was friendly the service was fast. No complaints ambiance wise either. It wasn't crowded at all when I went which was nice. Would definitely go back again and I highly recommend.

This place was AMAZING. It is truly authentic here where you can find actual Thai food and not just your typical pad Thai. The waitress was super friendly and so welcoming. They have sauces that are imported from Thailand! Definitely try this place you won't regret it.

ThaiZapp Restaurant and Bar on Meeting Street in Charleston is a great place to go for delicious and flavorful food and drinks that is something that is different and unique in the area. I really like the atmosphere and everything that they offer here. The staff here is very kind and works hard to make sure that you have everything that you need.
