Our daughter was asked to play for one of their many performances throughout the year (professional flutist) so a great excuse to head down to Wilmington. This was our first time at Thalian.
This beautiful little theatre has been open for quite some time offering a variety of performances. It is one of the oldest theatres still in operation in the U.S. While it can't accommodate the biggest acts that come to town it can support regional and small nat'l touring theatre, smaller ballet troupes, musicians, etc., and pack the house! It has an intimacy that the larger venues can't match while still offering the same feel that only live theatre offers.
We were completely amazed by the talent we saw from the acting, the magnificent voices and spot on dancing! The creativity of the set designers and choreography tied it all together beautifully. Of course the orchaestra was great too! especially the flutist..:)
If you get a chance, head down to Wilmington and take in a show...any show at Thalian..but be sure to reserve your tickets, since they do sell out most shows! The prices are lower, for this high quality, than what we might pay in our area (Cary/Raleigh) and you get a bonus...after the show you can head to one of the many great eateries along the water just a moment drive away and enjoy the view!
