Park close, get your food, then get out of this neighborhood as fast as you can. Take my advice and you will be happy that you came to enjoy the best, and only Vietnamese restaurant in the vicinity for miles. Their food is better and less expensive than the one Vietnamese restaurant in Bayonne, the one I visited near Grove Street, and the one I visited in West New York. The only problem is that this is in the worst neighborhood of them all.
I am pretty sure this is a family run business and when I come to a place like this where great grandma is serving, grandpa is cooking, and their next generations are hanging out helping then I KNOW it is going to be some good, authentic, home-made tasting food on the way. Their pho is on point, their vermicelli with pork spring rolls and chops are great. I have nothing but good things to say about the food.
The service is ok, grandma isn't trying to charm, you just feed you. So don't expect that. The environment is very simple with table seating and a TV that has nothing interesting on ever.
So yes go grab a bite here, eat, save your conversation for later, and don't bother strolling around in the neighborhood. There is some great food in the area, and you are good if you stick to your destinations. This is the hood!
