I had a fantastic evening at Thapae East. The place immediately struck me as warm and authentic: rustic-industrial decor, exposed-brick walls, and a relaxed, unpretentious vibe that felt cozy and welcoming. The live music was the real highlight — talented local (and sometimes international) bands played in a setting intimate enough to make you feel connected to the performance.
The crowd was a nice mix of locals, expats and travelers, giving the bar a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced and the overall energy was chill yet vibrant. The bar isn’t flashy or overly polished — but that’s part of its charm.
If you’re looking for good music, a laid-back crowd and a genuine dive-bar feel in Chiang Mai, Thapae East is a spot I wholeheartedly recommend.
