Thapae East - live music bar

I had a fantastic evening at Thapae East. The place immediately struck me as warm and authentic: rustic-industrial decor, exposed-brick walls, and a relaxed, unpretentious vibe that felt cozy and welcoming. The live music was the real highlight — talented local (and sometimes international) bands played in a setting intimate enough to make you feel connected to the performance. The crowd was a nice mix of locals, expats and travelers, giving the bar a friendly, inclusive atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced and the overall energy was chill yet vibrant. The bar isn’t flashy or overly polished — but that’s part of its charm. If you’re looking for good music, a laid-back crowd and a genuine dive-bar feel in Chiang Mai, Thapae East is a spot I wholeheartedly recommend.

Monday night 9.30pm Memorial Day Holiday Very quiet but the music played on just for the 2 of us. Drinks are affordable but pity craft beer is not available. Will come back again for sure

Love this place, been coming here for a few years now and always great experiences. Small and intimate, to the point that you sit just a few feet away from the musicians and get to feel as if you are part of the gig. Drinks are very affordable and there’s no cover charge. Happy hour from 6-8pm and performances usually start at 9pm. Recommend!

The place is a beautiful gem tucked away in the city centre! Open to the public, people can get on stage to play and instrument or sing. The few that I was lucky to see perform left me in awe! Singing the blues, they brought the place to life and had everyone naturally bobbing away! Definitely highly recommended!

Came here many times over the past 9 years. Forgot to rate this warm cozy space with genuine good music. Not over the top, no fancy decorations, just good music.

I don't write reviews very often for I don't like crowds especially in places I'd spend my quality time. But this place's already crowded and I just appreciate their contribution and efforts for musicians so much I have to do this. Live music there is crazy good and perhaps one of the greatest venues in CNX with upgraded sound system now. Its old looks and feel ain't much I'd miss for but they did make the bar feel like a home. Locals, expats and people across the world I got to know there love that place.

This music bar is great, very suitable for people who play music. Drinks are also cheap and you can meet many interesting people. The only negative point is that the air conditioning is too cold, you may need to wear a coat.
