I was quite hungry and was in this area, but I decided to try this Thai food and ordered from here. OMG! I was shocked at how greasy it was, it was just drenched in oil and honestly hard to enjoy. Please, please use less oil, it would make all the difference!

Google
I had the chicken pad Thai, and it was hands down the best I’ve had since being in Oklahoma! The flavors were perfectly balanced—savory, slightly sweet, with just the right amount of tanginess. The noodles were cooked to perfection, the chicken was tender and flavorful, and the portion size was generous. The restaurant itself has a welcoming atmosphere. If you’re craving authentic Thai food, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Google
A favorite Thai place of ours in Norman! We had friends try Thai food for the first time here and they loved it. My husband likes ordering the pad see ew with chicken at a level 2 and I like getting the Panang curry with tofu at a level 1. The curry is made with coconut milk, so it is perfect for someone who is dairy free. Be mindful of the spice level as a level 1 can still have a slight kick. The dishes are already naturally flavorful and if you’re looking for some heat, I suggest a 3 or 4. The spice is not at all painful but more of a favor amplifier if you like spice. I can’t handle spice, but I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Overall, if you’re looking to try some Thai food, this is the place to go. Staff is friendly and it’s such a cozy environment to enjoy some good Thai food as there are plenty of options on the menu!

Google
Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Basil Fried Rice with beef (Kao-Pad Ga-Praw) and Red Curry with pork (Gang Deang). Very generous serving size and we are so happy that there's enough rice for the curry! Even at a 3 spicy (out of 5), there was quite a kick to the curry. The bell peppers were bright and a great compliment to the creamy curry. The fried rice was savory with a lovely strong taste of the basil and they provide a slice of lime that gives it a great acidity. The bell peppers were a bit overcooked, but still a great dish overall. Service: 5/5 - friendly and quick service Ambiance: n/a - ordered food to go. Value for price: 5/5 - one of our favorite Thai places in quite a while. The food is absolutely delicious, generous portions, and such friendly service!

Great food! Must try their creamy and delicious red curry. Crab rice and veg potstickers taste fantastic!

Google
This place deserves much more than what it has now. Plenty of Thai restaurants in town, but I travel miles to come to this place. I tried the vegetable rolls which tastes absolutely yummy with the sweet chilli and peanut sauce. I also tried pineapple fried rice which was so good. Their quantity of food was so good that only their main course is more than enough. Not to forget, their quality of food was awesome too.

Google
I'm speechless. This was DELICIOUS!! We even experienced one of their busiest times (dinner on Memorial Day Weekend) and the service and quality of food was STILL impeccable. We got the fresh rolls with shrimp and the tom kha with tofu for appetizers. We ordered the crying tiger steak and the vegetable pad Thai for our entrees. I could not believe how perfectly cooked the medium rare 🥩 was. The flavor of the pad Thai was 👌. Absolutely the best Thai food I've had. Will be back very soon.

Yelp
A personal favorite, but keep in mind that I absolutely love vegetables and I like spicy foods! I try to eat somewhat healthy and get 1/2 plate serving of vegetables, 1/4 plate of protein, and 1/4 plate of carbs. So if I eat 1/4 of the rice, I meet my nutrition goals by eating here! Food is delicious every time, service is reliable, and the place is clean & pretty. I love all the different flavors of Thai food and this place always pleases! Prices are reasonable and won't break the bank. Good food for a good value. Will be back again soon.

Yelp
It's such a great place always friendly and food is always delicious. Love the vibes.

Yelp
Thawan Thai Cuisine is a good Thai restaurant in Norman. I love the fresh flower centerpiece for each table, extra points for effort. Pad Thai is the restaurant's most popular entree. It was good, but not the best though. I can think of restaurants with better Pad Thai. What I loved most about the Pad Thai here was the large quantity of vegetables accompanying the dish. The mango sticky rice was amazing. If you need a dessert, it's the one to get. Actually, at Thawan Thai Cuisine, it's the only dessert. I prefer having one excellent dessert over a million mediocre desserts. Nice cozy small Thai restaurant. Alcohol is also available for anyone in the mood. Tonight, I am alcohol out. Service was slow. I feel like they have a policy of "no check until the plate is empty" or something.

Yelp
One of my favorite Thai restaurants! And not just in Norman. I travel a lot and because I'm vegetarian I regularly choose Thai cuisine. This is some of the best. Service is exceptionally efficient and friendly. Prices are in line. Treat yourself!

Yelp
This is a very good Thai restaurant, I really enjoyed my entrée. Be warned the food is on the spicy side. This restaurant serves spice level 1 - 5 stars. I ordered 3 stars, it was very hot. If you don't enjoy spicy food, I suggest ordering your meal at this restaurant 1 star.

Yelp
Good Thai food in a convenient location. We were in town for a few days and needed a meal that wasn't fried everything, and found this place on Yelp. The spring roll was very fresh and the added shrimp was tasty, though it was a bit heavy on the lettuce. The pad see ew was very good with beef, and the basil fried rice was definitely fine. All in all, a decent change of pace from the usual fare.

Yelp
I've consistently gone to Thawan Thai since I wrote my first review, at least once to twice a month; it is my go-to Thai restaurant in Norman. Always the same quality and friendly service.

Yelp
I ordered the Tom Yum noodle soup (level 0 spice) and the papaya salad Laos style (level 1 spice). I usually go for level 2-3 but wasn't in the mood for anything too spicy this time. I was very disappointed by the dine-in service and experience. My waitress had an attitude and smirked when I asked for little spice. When my soup arrived it was a clear broth, completely lacking the traditional Tom Yum paste and flavors. Unfortunately, the waitress didn't explain that ordering no spice would mean removing the key elements that make this dish so distinctive. This lack of communication left me disappointed, as I would have ordered differently if I had known. On a brighter note, the papaya salad was wonderful, and I order it every time I visit. Hopefully they improve their service and provide better communication to let customers know what to expect with modifications.

Yelp
What a gem this Thai restaurant is to Norman! Walked in and was immediately waited on. I ordered the chicken pad thai, spice level 2, and it was amazing. Some of the best pad thai I've had. I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Harland S.

Yelp
I think we have a new favorite Thai restaurant. The pad Thai was really good as was the pad see eew. Warning; they don't mess around with spice. I can take some heat and a 2 on my dish was plenty warm. The prices were good, the service was great, and the ambiance was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Yum yum yummy x 10! We ordered delivery and had the fried chicken wings, chicken pad Thai, shrimp Kao pad (fried rice spicy 3, so good), and crab angels (crab ragoons. Very flavorful!!) and it was all absolutely fantastic. Some of the best Thai food I've had in Norman so far and can't wait to try a few more things on the menu!

Yelp
Came to Norman for doctor appointment and as usual looked for an Asian place that had great reviews that we had not tried. While researching I saw this had something called "evil jungle curry"! Smart marketing because I could not resist it! I chose the salad option with the ginger dressing and was pleased that it wasn't a mayonnaise concoction. It had finely chopped ginger in a vinegar (maybe) base that was excellent! Then came the main course. The description says it has shredded chicken on a base of cabbage so I thought it was an excuse to "cheap out" with a lot of filler. Hahaha, they need to change their description because it is 98% chicken, colorful pepper chunks and curry broth with barely discernible cabbage. It was also in a small bowl (we are used to the giant bowls that Pho and vermicelli bowls come in) which initially disappointed me until I realized how much food was actually in that bowl! I could only eat half of it and brought the rest of it home. The rice seemed very much like the Botan rice I make it home which has the right amount of stickiness and fluffiness. The yellow curry itself was as delicious as I expected it to be. I chose level three heat which was perfect for me. I have no memory what my husband got as I was so focused on my own dish! Ha! Will definitely go back if wherever in this part of town again.

Yelp
Food was very good... will absolutely come back. Recommend the green curry but eveything I've tried has been good.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food, great service! We dine here weekly and they serve spicy Thai food that is prepared to your liking! They also have a good beer selection to help wash down the tasty food.

Yelp
The food is good and spicy! I got a level 4 for my pad see ewe and it was a god burning spice. My husband got a level 5 curry but I thought it was less spicy than mine. The chicken satay I will pass next time it wasn't that good. The service was great and quick. Nice small place.

Gustavo D.

Yelp
Great taste, excellent service, the lamb dish is amazing! I've only do carry out but nice ambiance to eat in as well!

Yelp
Pad Thai is very good and drunken noodles are very good. Their fried rice is also very good and the soups are very good. The Thai dumplings are very good

Yelp
There is several good Thai restaurants in Norman and this one tops them all. They have good hours and the food is always great. Extremely friendly staff as well.

Yelp
The steamed pork pot stickers are amazing. The yellow curry is just as delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Definitely eat your food at the restaurant as your portion is larger than a to-go order. My friends and I love this place - as it is the best Thai in Norman. Usually we get our order to-go but decided to eat at the restaurant last Friday. It was packed, due to a large 12 person group who took up most of the dining area, but they asked for a phone number and said they would call when a table opened up. It was less than a 10 minute wait and we sat in the car. Once we sat down, the servers were friendly and efficient, starting with our drink orders. They gave us plenty of time to look over the menu and then took our orders on a tablet, I requested no bean sprouts with my Chicken Pad Thai (order was correct!). I ordered my Pad Thai with glass noodles - very thin noodles, but different texture and taste than the traditional egg noodle. The dish was delicious! My friend always orders their Tofu Kao Soi and the dine-in portion was so much larger than the to-go portion! She received twice the amount of soft egg noodles (which are delicious) and asked for an extra order of sticky white rice to soak up the yummy curry sauce (very thin fyi). They also serve fantastic Thai Iced tea - you are charged $0.75 more for light ice or no ice since they pour more in the glass. We ordered fried vegetable potstickers, pork dumplings and vegetable fried spring rolls along with an extra side of peanut sauce (extra small fee) When the potstickers came out, I asked if they were veggie (they weren't) and the kitchen remade the correct order. The steamed dumplings are their version of shu-mai and had a lot of flavor The peanut sauce was delicious with all the appetizers and able to take half home for later

Kassandra C.

Yelp
We LOVE this place. My current obsession is their yakisoba noodles. they were just so delicious and actually spicy! my absolute favorite thing on the menu. the curry is also delicious. the one downside (which is why i give this place a 4/5 instead of 5/5) is i wish they allowed for more substitutions. i couldn't eat rice for a period of time due to getting my wisdom teeth out so i asked of i could substitute the rice for some noodles even if i had to pay extra but they wouldn't allow it. which i get but also disappointed at the same time.

Angela D.

Yelp
The food as always is excellent. I had the evil jungle chicken spicy 3 and salad with ginger dressing. I forgot to take pictures before I started eating. Nothing left of my salad but, here's my evil jungle chicken

Jona T.

Yelp
Consistently great food. Crab Angels are the best! Nice, clean restaurant. Kind staff.

Yelp
I ordered the duck curry to go. When I got to the restaurant to pick up, I was presented with a bill +$10 more than what I was expecting. I asked them about the difference and they said it was a temporary price increase. I wish they updated their website or notified me when I ordered because I wasn't expecting to pay $30 for a single dinner for myself tonight. Disappointing service.

Mitchell S.

Yelp
The best Thai food in Norman. I've had many entrees and appetizers and they are all delicious! I've never had a bad experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good Pad Thai. Flavor was bold, ingredients fresh, it was served piping hot, and portion was huge for $10.95. It wasn't quite perfect -- chicken was plentiful but a little tough..There was very little scrambled egg..And while peanut was there, not enough to impact flavor much. Still, flavor had depth, with plenty of sauteed green onion. Better than others I've had in the metro area recently. The lady who served us was quiet, a bit serious, but for takeout I didn't mind. And she did meet us curbside. Keep in mind it's in an unremarkable little strip mall hidden behind another building. There's a lot of takeout going on here. We left feeling especially satisfied. I nearly ordered another to take home for later.

Yelp
Food is delicious and the ambiance is subdued. Nice place for date night. Service is excellent.

Yelp
We popped into this place before Sam's Club because I was starving and didn't want anything fried or heavy. I ordered the Fresh Rolls and the Pork Pot Stickers (steamed). They made the food fast, it was really pretty (even for to go), and my husband and I demolished it before we finished our errands. We fully intend on returning for a full meal soon. Really glad we decided to grab food here today! The place is pretty clean and the servers were all nice as well.

Meredith S.

Yelp
Food is ALWAYS fresh and delicious. We have been her numerous times and it is on point every time. Our favorite Thai restaurant. Even friends we recommend this place to, love it and stop going elsewhere. The service is always efficient and friendly. Nice ambiance, quiet, with good adult beverage selection. Highly recommend this restaurant! Absolute must try!
google avatar

Georgie M.

Yelp
Hits with both quality of food and service. Extremely attentive staff and patrons are noticeably eager when they arrive. I had the pineapple curry, which I highly recommend. Pineapple is a complimentary texture and didn't over power the dish in any way, which was an initial concern of mine. Overall, a very happy environment with great food.

Julia D.

Yelp
Amazing food! Amazing Service! Amazing atmosphere! Going away for college, I miss home-cooked Laos/Thai food, but this restaurant has filled that absence! Truly authentic and spicy!!! I ordered their papaya salad and Thai beef jerky to go and they were beyond generous with their portion.
google avatar

Catherine G.

Yelp
Loved it!! We got the Pad Thai lunch special with chicken pot stickers and the Chicken fried rice with a veggie spring roll and everything was great! The Pad Thai was probably the best I've had yet!
google avatar

Michaelene S.

Yelp
The food here is very consistent. One of the few Thai restaurants that it's cooking reminds me of what it was like during travels to Thailand. I recommend trying the the Thai Papaya Salad! The peanut sauce here is great. I usually have it with the fresh rolls. They have lunch specials for all their top dishes too! The staff is fast and kind.
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
Food is on point. This is our favorite Thai place. Must haves: Veggie fresh rolls Pad Thai chicken with glass noodles Chicken pineapple fried rice Evil Jungle curry Spicy level 3 or 4 for each Wait staff is hit or miss so be prepared to be patient. They do take out orders as well.

Andi P.

Yelp
This is my go to Thai place in Norman! I recommend it to everyone. Their curry is . And when they have it, I always get the mango sticky rice!
google avatar

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Sort of a clean hole in the wall spot but have eaten there twice and both visits incorporated soup as the main dish. Very good. Also loved the dumplings. Excellent. They do have a small bar. The establishment itself is pretty small and has limited seating. I think carry out it popular there. Service - good Food- very good Price- very fair Definitely will go back-
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Tasty fresh food. My wife is Lao, and there isn't much difference between Lao and Thai cuisine, so that's where I'm coming from here. A+ for the green papaya salad and my wife is very discerning on this topic. She normally doesn't like anyone else's recipe. A- on the Larb (could use more mint and cilantro for us). Tom Yum soup ordered at a 4 heat level was more like a 7 on the 1-5 scale, so watch out for that. Add heat after the fact. Spring rolls and peanut sauce just right. Service was neither exceptional nor horrible. Overall, you'll be happy with this choice. Thai / Lao food has to be fresh and you'll find fresh here.
google avatar

Anni M.

Yelp
Love that they have a brown rice option! Panang is bangorang. Evil Jungle curry thumbs up! And the Thai Tea has me dreaming for more. Cute, sweet place and people that deliver tasty foods.
google avatar

Koda M.

Yelp
Outstanding Thai restaurant and food, couldn't be more pleased with the menu, staff and cleanliness of the establishment. Wife and I wanted a Spicy Thai Basil ground pork with jasmine rice (we eat overseas) but didn't see on menu so I was telling the lady what we wanted and what was in it. It was spicy basil Thai chicken with vegetables as white rice, very very good with nice taste of flavors. Definitely recommend this place kap khob khun
google avatar

Raven C.

Yelp
It's a pretty basic strip mall Thai restaurant except that the food is consistently wonderfully fresh and flavor filled! The level 2 heat is very hot.

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
I had the Tom Kha soup with shrimp, and it was absolutely wonderful, with delicious nuanced flavors. My date has a tofu and curry dish, and I tasted a few bites. It was also delicious. The service was good, and the atmosphere was comfortable. Confession: Several years ago, I picked up takeout from this restaurant, and back then, I thought the food was just okay - not impressive. I've never been back since, until my date requested that we go there last week. I'm so glad I gave it another try. I have totally changed my mind about this restaurant, and I really like it now. The food was delicious.
google avatar

Mike J.

Yelp
I really like the food here and I think its the best Thai food in town. However, the prices went up quite a bit during 'inflation' and have stayed there while the food portions have shrunk. Still love the food but the value isn't quite as good as it used to be.
google avatar

Kayla D.

Yelp
The service was fast and the food was delicious! The lunch portion was big enough for me to still have leftovers. The two of use were also able to be seated right away during lunch time on a Saturday.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
The Tom Kha served here is singularly delicious, and the green papaya salad is crunchy and well seasoned. Don't go expecting anything remotely resembling ambience, though -- this place is nestled in a very average little strip mall.
google avatar

Kam J.

Yelp
We have a lot ot Thai food options in Norman, but Thawan has earned its spot at the top of our list (and we live closer to five others). Favorite dishes include Gang Masamun (curry), PadThai (w/ tofu & veggies for me, pork for the mister), and Basil Eggplant stir fry. However, the most irresistible item, which isn't on the menu (but seems to be always available), is the Crab Angels. They are amazing! As if the food weren't enough of a reason to check this place out, the ambiance and the service should sway you. Easy to forget you are in a strip mall, the decor is lovely and invokes peace and calm. Every experience here, whether dine-in or carry out, has been top notch!
google avatar

Craig H.

Yelp
Hands down the best Thai in Norman. You really need to eat here. The Thai dumplings are fantastic. The curry and Thai dishes are so great. Might be the best Thai in Oklahoma?
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
We ordered six different foods. They are all simply not a good Thai food. Some they messed up quite badly. For example, I ordered a pad see ew with chicken. Oddly, there's barely any flat noodle. More than half the food is veggies, which in itself is weird but still okay. But then the carrot is The carrot is not fresh you can immediately notice the weird texture the moment you chew it. Imagine you buying a carrot and let it sit for a month, then cook it. It's that bad. The flat noodle itself is overcooked - mushy and watery. How can you messed up a Pad see ew? I don't know how this restaurant is getting four stars. The only acceptable food that we ordered is the khao soi. There are several Thai food in Norman and I was disappointed to have picked this one. I'm a visitor, so I dunno. Perhaps this is as good of a Thai food as you can get for Oklahoma?

Yelp
Thank you so much for your tireless efforts all during the virus pandemic. The best Thai cuisine has kept my spirits up and has helped abundantly feed the few people in my "pod" on an almost weekly basis through takeout. Your standards haven't slipped at all, and every bite is divine.
