The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Silver Spring, Maryland | Eater DC

"Did you know Maryland has its own pizza style? Thanks to Ledo Pizza and local taverns and pubs like 4 Corners Pub, this region is know for its rectangular, semi-sweet sauce pizza loaded with mozzarella and oversized pepperonis. But beyond the pizza, this pub exudes warmth and and local coziness. The menu caters to bar regulars with signature dishes that include fried pickles, Reuben rolls, and cream of crab soup." - Tim Ebner

Stopped into this Pub for a early dinner. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. We were seated right away. There was no wait at 4pm on a Wednesday. I had the chicken salad sandwich with a cup of cream of crab soup and my husband had the smash burger. The chicken salad was homemade and I didn't know how I would feel about grapes mixed in with the ingredients, but it added just the right amount of sweetness. The croissant it was on was flaky and perfect! The soup was rich and flavorful. And the smash burger was delectable. Will definitely return if in the area again.

Went for March Madness and the place was packed. This was supposedly during happy hour and we were told $2 off pitchers. Got 2 pitchers and the table got assorted food. I got a smash burger that was big and delicious. Only minor gripe is it had too much stuff on it but it fell out while I was eating it so ended up with a side salad. I asked for unsalted fries. I think these fries were presalted but I think they did take care to not put additional salt on the fries. Colleague got the fish and chips which was massive. All in all, was great. A little disappointed in the final bill reflecting a $1 discount which was different than the $2 per pitcher special we were told.

I love coming here, I first came because they had tomato soup lol but have since realized they have a LOT of vegetarian options! I really love that and we find ourselves thinking "hmmm what do we want to do for lunch/dinner...4 corners!" The servers are nice and the food is delicious ☺️ I've had the crab soup 3 times already haha I definitely recommend it!! Pictured is the ALT but they were nice enough to give me some spinach which they don't regularly have i think? Idk but it was delicious. I've also had the haddock which was sooooo good

Google
1st time here. On my way out of town and stopped here for lunch. Our server was very friendly. My daughter got the PBLT. (P for pesto) She liked it but wished the cheese was melted. My husband got the chicken melt and really liked it. I got the club sandwich. Cute, cozy place that locals go too.

Came with a large group and sat in the dining room. Staff was friendly and efficient. Beverages from the bar came out quickly, and food from the kitchen was hot and tasty.

Google
My dad and his buddies grew up in the neighborhood behind the bar. A few of my buddies live up there now and it’s only about a 10 minute drive. They definitely have my favorite pizza. Have a lot of great memories watching Maryland basketball games up there. Definitely a good place for nostalgia and pizza.

Google
One of my favorite places to go on lunch break. I would have to say my favorite thing to get there is the Philly cheesesteak (everything on it incl. Mushrooms) with the homemade Old Bay chips. The food is always hot & ready pretty quickly. The quantity they give is good too

Kimberly Bean

Google
This place is such a nice, warm, friendly local spot. Has a wonderful small business vibe. Food is great and the staff is incredibly attentive and kind. They do trivia and other fun things. You can bring your dog and sit outside. Overall one of my favorite spots I've found since moving here a few years ago. The only downsides are how crowded it gets and how difficult parking can be. But I can't even knock them for that because they're popular because they're great.

Yelp
I love this neighborhood staple and partly hidden gem. Why I love it: 1. The food is reliably good and reasonably priced. I've enjoyed apps, pizza, burgers, desserts, and they were all good, and well-priced. They also try to insert seasonal items. 2. Beer list is solid. They have lots of local beers and pub staples on tap. 3. Service inside is good and the atmosphere is cozy, but you can always call ahead and get food to go. 4. The parking lot can be tricky, but there's lots of street parking in the adjacent neighborhood. Honestly, I don't have a bad thing to say about Corner Pub. I'm glad it exists and that I don't live far from it.

Yelp
Amazing pub! Can't believe I waited six months to review. My wife and I went here for brunch on February 10th after a kids friendly Taylor Swift event at UMD as it was close to both the buses that go to UMD and Silver Spring. The ambiance is nice of an old bar and restaurant with a large bar in one room and a large dining room in the other that got busy fast. The food was also very amazing. We shared a large cheesesteak pizza that we took much of home as well as brunch tostadas and old bay wings. We also had some winter themed hot alcoholic drinks and beer. We look forward to returning to this amazing gem.

Yelp
Great, low key neighborhood pub that we were fortunately to stumble upon. The 4 Corners Pub pretty much is a no frills spot with a decent selection of draft beers, food, and cocktails. Extra points are awarded for having a nice amount of local draft beers. During our visit, our service was pretty on point, and our waiter was very friendly. The pub seems like a place for all ages because it was very kid-friendly and dog-friendly (especially on the patio). Overall, I thought the prices were pretty reasonable for the area. - sandwiches with fries were about $13; and pitchers were about $18. The only downside to the pub is parking can be somewhat limited especially on the Friday night when we visit. However, there is street parking scattered throughout the neighborhood.

Yelp
A Horrible Experience at 4 Corners Pub I don't usually write reviews, but after my experience at 4 Corners Pub, I felt obligated to warn others about this train wreck of a restaurant. From start to finish, this place was an absolute disaster. Let's start with the food. When you go to a restaurant, the least you expect is a meal that's hot and fresh, right? Not here. 9 out of 10 times, the food comes out cold because it just sits on the counter for what feels like an eternity. Apparently, no one in this place cares enough to serve it promptly. And when you finally muster the courage to complain? They'll shrug and tell you there's nothing they can do about it. Customer satisfaction clearly isn't on their menu. The staff is no better. The hostess is rude from the moment you walk in, like she's doing you a favor by even acknowledging your existence. The servers? Completely clueless. They rush through their jobs like they've got somewhere more important to be, and you're left wondering if they've ever been trained properly. They clearly don't care about the customers or their experience. And then there's Spencer, the owner or manager--or should I say the dictator of this place. He is hands down one of the rudest people I've encountered in a long time. Imagine someone on a power trip so intense that he humiliates long-time customers over minor misunderstandings and kicks people out if they dare disagree with him. Yes, you read that right. Disagree with Spencer, and you're out the door. He doesn't care if you've been coming there for years; he'll toss you out like yesterday's trash. It's clear he's more interested in feeding his ego than running a decent establishment. If you're thinking of visiting 4 Corners Pub, let me save you the time and money: don't. Between the cold food, rude staff, and the insufferable Spencer, you're better off eating a frozen dinner at home. At least then you won't be paying to be disrespected. Terrible.

Yelp
Love this place and the food, but maintenance of the furniture is spotty (ripped vinyl, for example), and parking is a total nightmare.

Keith M.

Yelp
Nice spot, good food, good atmosphere, good drinks. Ample parking and excellent service.

Yelp
Such a friendly and sweet team! The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience. You can really tell they care about their customers, which makes all the difference. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I grew up in this area. The restaurant located in Four Corners was once the home to a Seafood restaurant named Fred and Harry's. Now there are 3 restaurants in its place. My initial feelings of the 4 Corners Pub were positive and I was frequenting several times throughout the months. The place is definitely a hotspot. On Thursdays half off pizza. On more than one occasion my order wasn't properly prepared and when I informed the staff they questioned me which left me feeling some kind of way; especially after all the support. Anyway, I don't visit that often except for their fries. I've ordered fries on numerous occasions and recently I was handed a box of burned fries. I contacted them and was told no problem that when I returned they would make another. When I arrived I believe it was the owner who questioned it; as I, by accident had brought in the wrong container which had some food scraps in it. It had gotten mixed up with a container I was going to throw away. I was told I didn't even have to bring it in. The owner kept insisting the fries weren't burned. They did however prepare me another which was excellent. Thanks to the manager. You are appreciated.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful service at the bar and in the bar service area. Really strong drinks and delicious food. We stayed at an Airbnb a block away and wish we'd discovered this place earlier in our stay, but we've still enjoyed it twice already. The Bride had their Chili, which was a huge portion, and I had the burger, which I ordered Rare and it came just that way. Fries were nice and crispy.

Yelp
The rap music blasting from the juke box made it very hard to carry on a conversation. It has changed a lot in other ways from the place I remember many years ago. The clientele is different and it's just not the same old place that I started visiting in the '70s.

Yelp
Love this spot! Good prices, easy parking, and they allow dogs on their outside patio which is covered and has heaters. Wings, cream of crab soup, pretzel, and fried pickles were all good. They have good happy hour specials and a lot of ppl came by and seemed to be ordering pizzas to go. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
The pour is great, the pizza amazing, the Greek salad delicious the nachos and wings were ok. It's a small restaurant/bar. And many locals go there. Trust me you can't go wrong with the pizza. Just try it!y boyfriend had the fish sandwich and he said it was too much batter for him and a little dry.

Yelp
I first started going to 4 Corners Pub about a year ago. I enjoyed the food and appreciated the service from the waiters and waitresses, most of whom are college-aged and polite. I have had no issues with the waitstaff, and their service has consistently been fantastic. As younger people, they seem to understand how to adapt to both the older population and the occasional younger crowd that shows up when they have nowhere else to go. However, the owners and bartenders, including Spencer and the woman who wears a mask, have been extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. About six months ago, I visited the pub on an early afternoon and had a $20 meal. Unfortunately, I could not pay my tab because my card was frozen, and I needed to reactivate it. I asked if I could come back the next day to pay, along with the tip, and was told that would be fine. The next day, I returned as promised to pay my tab. After paying, I asked if I could order food for that day since it was lunchtime. Suddenly, the woman working became very grumpy and nasty. She then asked me to leave, claiming it was because I hadn't paid the previous day. I was confused because I had returned as agreed and paid the day after my initial visit. She said something about not "playing games" and told me never to return. I tried to explain that I had paid, but she insisted that I hadn't. I left begrudgingly and ended up speaking to a manager, who told me I could come back at night when the woman wasn't on shift. For the next six months, I returned at night at least five times with no issues, enjoying my time with friends. Fast forward to a few days ago, when my girlfriend and I needed something to eat and decided to go to 4 Corners Pub. I had little recollection of the incident that occurred six months ago and, since I had visited multiple times without issue, assumed everything was fine. When we arrived, we were told there would be a short wait due to a lack of staff. We sat outside and patiently waited in the cold. The manager, Spencer, came outside and started talking to us. I mentioned that I had previously applied for a job there, again not recalling the earlier incident. Spencer asked me to wait, and during our initial conversation, he was all smiles and polite. However, when Spencer came back, he started asking me and my girlfriend about the woman and the incident that had occurred months ago, saying he had reviewed the security cameras. I explained that there had been a disagreement between me and the woman, but he seemed determined to discuss it further. In front of other customers, he loudly proclaimed that they would never hire me. He then returned and asked me and my girlfriend to leave immediately, citing something that had happened months ago, which I felt was a relatively minor issue. He watched us walk off the property smiling as if him losing what would have probably been a $100 tab that night as a good thing. I just want to say that this incident upset me and my girlfriend considerably because we absolutely hate drama and were surprised at how this place has such little class. I understand that it's a fairly old pub with the usual regulars and not an incredibly exciting crowd but I enjoyed going here because it was convenient for me on my way home from work. Food is okay but with how the bartenders act supposedly with their 30 year experience I can't say I would recommend this place. Me and my girlfriend are incredibly polite people and avoid issues at all costs. The manager Spencer had an extremely callous attitude and doesn't care about losing money.

Yelp
Consistently good food, a step above normal pub fare. The turkey sandwich is top 10 best I've ever had, largely due to the cheesy jalapeno bread! Good spot for kids, too--they provide coloring books and crayons. The whole family are fans!

James Z.

Yelp
A neighborhood institution for its pizza that has a crunchy crust, the biggest pepperoni slices that I have ever seen, large mushroom slices, and a thick layer of cheese. Great selection of craft beers and a changing featured smoked meat. The only problem is a small parking lot so on popular nights you may have to drive around the area and walk several blocks so go early or take a bus!
google avatar

Devin T.

Yelp
Great buffalo chicken sandwich, Reuben rolls, and the best fish and chips I have found in the area. Not to mention the legendary Ledo-inspired pizza which betters its influence.

Ruth P.

Yelp
Needed a place to eat after a show at the Silver Springs Stage and saw this place across the street on Maps. Was not disappointed! Great beer selection. 5 of us had burgers, pizza, reuben sandwich and ham and cheese croissant, all excellent. And homemade desserts!! The bread and butter pudding was delicious. The service was excellent and a great ambiance. If I'm ever in that area, I'd definitely go here again.

Dmitriy K.

Yelp
Neighborhood pub. Always great people. Good beer options with some rotation. Pizza is quite good. Don't expect a lot of gluten free options.

Michael ..

Yelp
This is a near-perfect neighborhood bar. The smoked meat Fridays are a huge hit. I haven't tried the pizza yet, that'll have to come next.

Kiru G.

Yelp
A very cozy and chill spot for Food and to watch sports they don't have sounds and they don't turn. Sounds on to watch the games have pretty small size TVs, but overall a good experience.

Yelp
We love this place- a true neighborhood pub. Food is simple but really good. We have been eating here long enough many of the servers know our name.

Yelp
Great little pub with friendly staff and crazy owner. Great pub food and homemade desserts. Chili, wings, burgers, salads....all good. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
First time dining here, ambiance was nice, chill. Service was great, a lot people sitting by the bar watching games Drink, I tried their midnight by the fire, and mulled cider. Both are good Food, bowl of cream of crab, steak & cheese, and a burger Food are surprisingly good, no more happy hours. But still decent price for the drinks

Casey K.

Yelp
Ur ledos pizza fucking rocks I haven't even been so not sure how the service is or the environment. Y'all could be a dump and still make the best pizza ever.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
A great neighborhood hangout, and a gret place to get some meal when you're not watching your diet (fried pickles anyone?). Also, their hamburgers and pizza are top-notch, and I always like to see what creative specials they have...love trying new foods. It's got the kind of ambiance of a place where everybody knows your name :p, but sometimes the sports crowd can get a bit rowdy. I am greatful to be able to walk here because parking really is difficult during busy times.

Jill J.

Yelp
As a neighborhood establishment it's a perfect drinks after work and/or bite to eat. The convenience of it's location was what drew me to it initially, then i subsequently became a more frequent customer

Chris M.

Yelp
Mostly visited the Pub to enjoy sports broadcasts or hanging out with friends and family. Good neighborhood establishment with a nice atmosphere.

Yelp
Great service and ambience, comfort food well done. Favorite neighborhood hangout. Only downside is that parking can be ... difficult.
google avatar

Towana M.

Yelp
Too tight for dining in. Had to cover my food immediately to avoid other customers' spittle flying info it. Food is decent but I'd only get it "to go."

Justin ..

Yelp
This place is a gem; a perfect neighborhood establishment. Want to sit at the bar and hang with adults and have a good time? This place has great beers and drinks. Need a spot where you can unwind with your family while the kids have coloring books and other kid friendly things to do? They have you covered with a rotating selections of coloring books and activities. The service is always friendly and efficient. The food is great and the it should have an extra star for the Instagram page. I love this place.

K. M.

Yelp
Great neighborhood food. I was actually impress and the customer service is nice. Will def stop by again.

Yelp
Amazing wings and homemade chips. Both ranch and old bay were simply delicious. I can't wait to try the burgers and pizza

Yelp
Pizza is my favorite which is the reason I return weekly. Bar has good service. Dining room service is consistently bad. Which is the reason for 4 - not 5 - stars. Pizza . . . so good.

Yelp
Just got back from an impromptu lunch at 4 Corners. The first time I have stepped foot in the joint since 2008, when Freddie owned it. Not to speak poorly of Freddie (may he RIP) or the prior version of the place, but it was always your prototypical townie "dive" bar that had subpar food but ice cold beers. Fast forward to today, and while the outside, interior, and "townie" feel is still there, I was blown away by the quality of the food. I had the Buffalo (Nashville) chicken sandwich, and it was far and away the best I have EVER had. I simply didn't expect that and it was a nice surprise. I've never seen a Buffalo Chicken sandwich where they DOUBLE UP the chicken breasts, at least not without an extra charge. The buffalo sauce was tasty and perfectly accentuated with a few drops of Texas Pete. The sandwich came with handmade fries, which in and of itself is impressive. How many pubs have you been to that simply throw a bag of Utz on your plate? That, the sandwich, and the still-ICY COLD beverages were a welcome break during the workday. It's clear from the prior reviews, and my experience today, that 4 Corners has stepped its game up considerably over the years. 4-corners is an institution in this area for a reason.

Yelp
Great food. Friendly atmosphere in the bar. Dining room is family friendly. Terrific pizza

Yelp
Delicious food, affordable prices, and our waitress was a gem. Parking was a little sticky. Will return.

Yelp
Our waiter provided us with great and attentive service. Started off with 6 old bay honey wings and 6 old bay lime wings. Both were pretty good with a great texture and crunch for the wings but my favorite of the 2 would be the old bay honey. Next up was the adult mac n cheese and for the most part it was okay, wouldn't get it again. Next was the pizza: we got a large pepperoni pizza and large bbq chicken pizza and both were good with a nice crispy texture. The bbq chicken pizza was by far my favorite of the 2, it was very good and I would definitely get it again. We also tried the fish and chips and it was solid, the only negative was that we didn't get as much fries and the fries were room temperature instead of hot, but the fish was massive, crispy, Hot. Last but not least, I got the cinnamon bun bread pudding and it was easily one of my favorites, it was very delicious. I ended up getting another bread pudding but sadly it wasn't as good as the first due to to it being harder. Would definitely recommend this spot.

Yelp
Love everything about this place; especially the deep fired pickles! The service also cannot be beat!

Emory B.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in the world!! Incredible food and even better staff! My friends and I always have the best time here. We love Rafi, Lulu, and Orlando!!! Must try the frickles! I love this place.

CJ S.

Yelp
If you grew up in Silver Spring, there's a good chance you'll run into old friends here on any given night... For me, coming back and eating a proper "Maryland-style pizza" with a pitcher of Dogfish Head beer is practically mandatory. Team service is very friendly from check-in to food delivery. There are multiple outdoor options for seating and even a large crowd can generally be accommodated on a busy night. Expect sports on the tvs and mid-level rowdiness between the tables. All ages welcome.
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place.. but sadly the food was "meh" at best. I got the "1/2 soup, 1/2 sandwich. The cream of crab soup was pretty good, but the BLT was the saddest I have ever seen; wilted shredded lettuce and 2 crumpled pieces of bacon and 1 slice of tomato. My husband got the fish and chips and said the portion was pretty small for the price and it was mostly all batter not fish. Don't think we will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Hubby and I had our first dinner together in our new state here, as we were craving pizza. The place was pretty busy on a Sunday evening but there were a couple free tables inside and quite a few outside in the tent area so we didn't have to wait. Hubby got a local pale ale which he said was pretty good, I was driving so had Diet Coke but I eyed with longing a couple of the cocktails which I will try when hubs is the driver. We shared a side Caesar and a medium pizza with pepperoni, sausage and onion. I actually loved the Caesar; the croutons were very sagey and the dressing was very good. It was quite large for a side salad. The pizza also was very good; thin crust with a lot of crunch, tasty sauce, good level of grease for flavor but not so much it makes you queasy. I liked the sausage on it and had mixed feelings on the pepperoni. It was more like a salami to me flavor wise, but it was good quality, thick cut. The reason I was mixed is I felt it overwhelmed the pizza a bit, made it hard to taste the sauce. I think I would just do the sausage and onions next time, but YMMV, like I said it is good quality just not quite what I expected. The pizza looked small for a medium but we only ate half of it since we had salad too. If you weren't eating salad the medium would have been just right for 2 I think. Service was efficient and NY style in manner, which I don't mind but i can tell I am not in Texas anymore. Parking lot was crowded but we luckily got the last space. I don't think we would have been as lucky on Friday or Saturday night so might take a Lyft if we come here then. I think 4 Corners will make it into our regular rotation though.

Yelp
Love the feel of this place, prices are awesome and food was excellent. Great neighborhood bar with friendly people .

Yelp
Sunday 11am - just in time for the brunch menu. I had the Merlind'er and would definitely get it again. They had the unsweetened ice tea that's a must for me. Service was great. A casual family environment. I always make comments about accessibility: get a spot near the door (some spots are now out of use due to their tent for outdoor dining); there are no steps to get inside. 1 handicap spot.
google avatar

Kelsey K.

Yelp
Great local pub with delicious food! Bar is fun and staff is friendly. They also have a tent for outdoor seating.

Yelp
Went here on a whim after a blogger posted about their burgers. I love a good bar so I went right inside and sat at the bar. I asked the bartender if there were any drink specials and she told me no..but pointed me to a wall posting of local beers. I told her that I was looking for a cocktail and started to describe the kind I like... (Strong but not sweet) she quickly interrupted me and told me I need to tell her the name of the drink and she would make it and then she walked away.....and never came back to service me. So while I was waiting for her to return I went online and noticed that there was a drink menu. She could have simply offered up the drink menu as most bartenders do when a customer isn't really sure what they want. Real experienced bartenders will actually will even make recommendations based on what you describe...but she simply walked away. Anyways, I was hungry and decided to move outside since it was clear that she wasn't going to give me any proper service. The young lady who serviced me outside was very pleasant...gave me a full drink menu, took my order and the food came out quickly. The ambience outside was a bit quieter but wasn't really what I came for..While I appreciated the waitresses kindness and the food was pretty good (loved the fries), the bartender left a bad taste in my mouth and could work on being nicer and more hospitable to all customers. Unfortunately, I won't be back.

Yelp
My wife and I went here to watch a football game and have a pizza. It was good. The service was slow, but that was ok since we had time. I would not have wanted to be in a hurry. The pizza is good and the beer was cold.

Yelp
A gem! We were just passing through and found this place on the map. After looking at Yelp reviews, we decided to stop. Place is small, but the food is delicious. Wait staff are great; waiter was awesome. Kiddo got pizza- was great. Came in a square pan. We ordered appetizers- fried pickles, the pretzel with beer cheese, and Rueben egg rolls. It was all really good. The pretzel was soft on the inside and crisp on the outside, the pickle spears were better than the rounds (which I never thought I would say), and the egg rolls were fresh and didn't have too much cheese. I believe they were all made in-house... nothing tasted like it came from the freezer section into the fryer. Local IPA was delicious as was the mixed drink. This is our type of place. No frills... just a good local place with good hearty food.
