Yelp
The 7th Street Standard is a hip spot to grab food before a show or King's game at the Golden 1 Center. Despite being in a busy area, I've never had an issue finding street parking unless the roads are closed for certain events. I've also heard the brunch is good.
I visited in December for a friend's birthday dinner, we had a reservation and were seated right away at a cute little two top near the side (emerald) room. I was lucky enough to attend a Yelp event here a while back and sampled some of the food/drinks. The Potato Gnocchi and the Fleetwood cocktail stood out to me and I knew I would order both of those during this visit.
There was a concert that night and the place filled up but also quickly dissipated. The service was a little slow and the food came out at odd intervals. We were given a dish we didn't order but it was taken off the check. I also noted we were dining for a birthday, but no dessert was even offered.
Food:
-Acme "Upstairs" Bread and whipped butter. You simply can't go wrong with really good bread and really good butter.
-Oysters on the Half Shell - really yummy, have never had oysters served with cucumber and radish - great palate cleansers. The citrus cocktail sauce was also delicious.
-Fig, Goat Cheese and Honey (special starter) - this had candied grapefruit peel that was cooked into the sauce, it overpowered the sweetness of the figs and honey. Once that flavor was omitted from the perfect bite, these were pretty good but not great.
-Pork Chop Vindaloo- the pork was sadly overcooked. The sauce was very good and flavorful, but Vindaloo typically has some spice to it but this was more of a gravy. I can see the potential of the dish but it fell short on expectation.
-Potato Gnocchi - just as good as I remembered. For $32 for a vegetarian dish, this was expensive IMO. The rich sauce, umami from the wild mushrooms and savory roasted garlic blend together beautifully. This dish is five stars.
Cocktail:
The Fleetwood - patron silver tequila, casamigos mezcal, aperol, coconut, pineapple, lime. The perfect mix of smoky/dry/sweet. They were even able to make an alcohol free mocktail version for my friend - it even cost $5 less which I thought was just wonderful. I always wondered why some mocktails are the same price as those with booze. 7th Street Standard has it figured out.
