Yelp
Unreal the terrible service we experienced here the other day.
We were passing through Amarillo and were looking for a good place to grab coffee and a bite. Preferably vegan-friendly. This place seemed to fit the bill.
Unfortunately, things quickly slid downhill.
There were 3 people waiting for drinks. One person had ordered 2 breakfast tacos as well. The guy behind the counter actively dissuaded us from ordering any food. Once my friend ordered and paid for a pastry and iced mocha, instead of asking me what I wanted (since I was the only other customer in the place), I was left to stand there while he filled everyone else's orders. No worries mostly, except that I literally (and i'm using that in the correct term) stood there for 10-15 MINUTES being ignored by not only the guy behind the counter, but by the other employee who didn't seem to be doing much of anything but apologizing to counter-guy.
No excuses, no apologies, he finally walks up to me (still hasn't made my friend's drink yet, btw). I order a tea and croissant. The iced tea is ready quickly, yet the croissant takes a good 10 more minutes, as another line has been forming while we've waited. AMAZINGLY, the local guy behind me has his coffee in his hand and is out the door before counter-guy even begins making my friend's mocha (it's been well over 20 minutes at this point.
In the end, her coffee order is wrong, I have to grab my own to-go cup, I'm served the worst, most rock-hard croissant I've ever had. I spit it out, and since there was no trash can anywhere I just left it on the table.
I cannot see how this place is so popular in the reviews. Their "breakfast tacos" are $5, and are basically eggs mixed with whatever "toppings" and baked then plopped onto a room temp tortilla with some salsa and a handful of chips. When I saw that, I was glad I didn't order anything else.
If you have any doubts about the rudeness of the staff, just read the owner comments for any negative review here. They're practically hostile. I thought it'd be some country-style douchiness that'd make me decide never to return to Amarillo, but instead it was the rudest hipster coffeehouse service I've ever experienced.
