The Abbey Resort & Avani Spa

Stayed for 2 nights in the winter and had a lovely time, but there's some room for improvement as the resort is a bit dated. The location has a great view of the lake with some sweet surrounding towns. It's a little sleepy, but good to unwind. The room itself was cute and clean, but definitely needs a new bed. It was hard to get a restful night of sleep on a VERY sinking mattress. The futon wasn't a great alternative either. The lobby is decorated well and clean, but the rest of the facility is a bit dated and needs cleaning, particularly the hallway carpets. As for the amenities, there are activities for the whole family including the indoor pools (which was over-chlorinated, probably to accommodate all the kids in it from open to close), a half-functioning arcade, some movie rooms, and little events throughout the stay. For the winter, they also have some bonfires and a (closed) ice skating rink. The highlight was the adult-only Avani spa with all-day access. Some aspects could use a little cleaning (fountain, steam room, etc), but overall it was very relaxing. In regards to service, the front desk and waitstaff were very friendly. My only complaint is that room service rarely answered the phone. All that said, for the price, it wasn't bad at all for a little getaway.

We stayed at The Abbey Resort for three days, and unfortunately, the experience was not pleasant. Considering how much we paid, we expected a welcoming and comfortable stay, but instead it felt uncomfortable from the start. Most of the staff were not friendly or welcoming. One experience that stood out happened at the bar. We waited to be served, but the bartender never turned around or acknowledged us. After standing there for some time, we felt embarrassed and eventually walked away. We later spoke with another African American couple who shared a similar experience. In their situation, the bartender angrily slammed his hand on the bar before asking what they wanted. When the husband calmly asked if everything was okay, there was no clear explanation. During our stay, we also had issues with basic room accommodations. I called the front desk to request additional washcloths. When they were delivered, the gentleman who brought them looked extremely startled when I opened the door, as if he had seen a ghost. I then asked if the resort provided hand soap, as our room did not have any. He stated that the order had just come in and that he would return with soap. Five hours passed and no soap was delivered. I later saw him in the hallway and asked again, at which point he finally retrieved hand soap for us. Additionally, the shower water was not hot, making it very uncomfortable to shower in lukewarm to semi-cold water. The parking lot also had a strong odor of urine, which was unpleasant and unexpected for a resort of this caliber. Given that we did not see many guests or staff who looked like us, combined with the repeated negative interactions, it was difficult not to feel that race may have played a role in how we were treated. No guest should feel ignored, uncomfortable, or unwelcome—especially after paying good money for a resort stay. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet expectations.

We stayed a couple of days right before New Year’s. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the resort offers a lot for kids—small game room, movie theater, indoor pool and hot tub. Since it was winter, it wasn’t very busy, which was nice. The scavenger hunt and hot chocolate in the lobby were a fun touch, and the lobby itself was beautiful and cozy. The Waterfront restaurant was the weakest part of our stay—okay, but nothing memorable. Overall, good value and very kid-friendly, and we’d consider coming back.

My dear friend and I spent a Gals' Pal weekend at The Abbey and spa after Thanksgiving, the day of the big first snowstorm. The setting was magical! Decorations throughout were tasteful and festive; there were several winter-themed events that added to the holiday spirit. The Spa services and amenities were fantastic. Our spa treatments were so good we booked another prior to our Sunday departure. The beds and pillows were among the best I've experienced at a resort. Room service and dinner/wait staff at The Waterfront were top-notch. The resort has been well-maintained and the charm of this older resort only adds to its warm ambiance. Only wish the spa pool was warmer. But the large jacuzzi with jets and the multiple saunas were great to enjoy throughout the day as the snow fell for nearly 15 hours outside the huge floor to ceiling windows! Kudos to all the staff and management for making this resort a go-to place all year-round!

We stayed three nights during Christmas break with our four kids (10,9,4 and 2) and my in-laws. Our main objective was to get out of the house for a few days and let the kids have fun in the indoor pool. We stayed in building 6 which was a long walk from the lobby and pool area. The hotel can be very confusing with all of its unique but connected buildings. But after 2/3 trips to the lobby and back it was easy enough. I was annoyed when we were checking in because we had unloaded all our luggage and they told us to go back in our car and drive around to building 6 and access our room from the closer parking lot. So we had to lug everything back to the car. Navigating the parking lot to building 6 was very confusing at night. I attached a picture of a section of the parking path that you have to drive through and you can see there are no signs telling you to pass the fenced off area to the left. Was very confusing and cost us 15 minutes of driving in circles before getting help from GPS. The rooms were dated but the beds were comfortable. The caulk and tile around bathtub area was very worn out and gross to look at, but it only bothered me. When we arrived, the toilet wouldn't flush and the lamp on the nightstand between the beds wouldn't turn on. So it was very dark. Someone came within 10 minutes to fix the toilet but we had to wait until the next day for someone to change the light bulb on the lamp. We tried to go to the more casual restaurant that first Saturday night at 6PM and were told there was an hour wait. I pleaded that we had four hungry kids and would take a smaller table (as I could see several empty tables) but was told "no". So we went back to our room and ordered room service which only took 30 minutes. Some food was great (chicken entre and pasta dish) and some not great (over salted steak and dry pork). They were out of the kids chicken nuggets, so they ate mac and cheese and grilled cheese with fries. They were fine. If you want to eat at either restaurant, I'd recommend calling and making the reservation before you even arrive. My kids loved the pool area albeit dated. The water was warm and my littles enjoyed the little slide and waterfall. It was nice that they supplied unlimited towels by the pool and didn't make a fuss when we took towels back to our room. But the floor of the pool is rough and scratched my kids feet and knees up. My foot was also a little cut from jumping around playing "keepy uppy" with my son in the pool. But I love that they provided balls to play with. My kids also caught a couple movies in the cinema room which was a good way to keep them occupied. I wish the ice cream place was open past 8PM. And I wish they staffed the coffee shop better - line was out the door both times I went (around 8AM) on Sunday and Monday morning. The coffee shop didn't have much to offer in terms of food, just danishes and an egg/cheese muffin sandwich. Last complaint - they need to add electric heaters to the hallways. Our hallway was always freezing and coming back from the pool we'd have to run because the hallway was so cold. It was particularly bad just in our building - building 6. We had a decent experience, but I think they need to work on the restaurant offerings and invest in some updates.

I have stayed here for two consecutive years for New Years. I highley recommend this resort; family friendly, Wisconsin, Lake Geneva Charm, and very pretty. Plenty of different bars here on the resort, a great pool, and the Harbor View Rooms are awesome to look at during the winter. Lackluster is the word to describe this hotel. EVERYTHING needs some TLC including the building, signage, parking, and employees. The location and view is great but the rooms and halls are gross. They tried to rehab it but you can tell on a penny budget. Everything was cold, literally and figuratively. The staff are all miserable with the exception of house keeping. The spa was probably the nicest feature but the service was again lackluster. Nothing over the top which I don’t necessarily expect given the price but geez, flash a smile! I felt bad for the employees, you could tell management is just terrible and as a result, the employees are miserable. Bartender was swearing under his breath, spa employee was in a rush to move me on and the front desk people were exhausting. I really hope they turn this around, such a great opportunity in the property.

This place is very old and outdated. It needs to be renovated. They have no heat in the hallways or the heat is insufficient. Because if you stay at this hotel in the winter you will freeze every time you leave your room. You will freeze walking through the hallways because there is no heat. They also charge you a daily Resort fee without any of the amenities of a resort. There are no manager cocktail parties. There are no daily activities. There is no pool service. No free mini bar. No nightly entertainment. There is nothing to justify that fee. They also don't have very good television. No netflix. No Hulu. You can get Netflix and Hulu at motel 6! So I have to give this place two stars.

I absolutely love staying at The Abbey! I found it by happenstance 1 year when I saw a really great deal for a weekend stay with them on Groupon, and I've been a fan ever since. Here are some highlights: - They have FREE valet parking! How awesome is that? - The staff is welcoming and very helpful. - If you're in the mood for light bites, you can dine at the Waterfront. During my recent stay (this past weekend), we dined there and enjoyed Old Fashioneds, Pineapple Margaritas, lemon parmesan chicken wings, Caesar salad, and shortbread caramel apple pie. The wings were HUGE, but they were really good. Penny was our server, and she took great care of us. And kudos to the bartender because the drinks were great! - If you're looking for a more formal dinner, you can dine at 240 West. The ambiance alone is great, especially during the holidays. We snagged a table in front of the fireplace that was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed wine, a charcuterie board, and the short rib with mashed potatoes. The short rib meat was tender and succulent. - THE SPA!!!!!!!! The Avani Spa is always the highlight of all my visits to the Abbey. Their services are unique and always rejuvenating. The only thing I didn't enjoy about my visit this time was that the steam room and the sauna weren't working. This was a major bummer. - Looking for a nightcap? Visit Bar West. Thomas the bartender is super engaging, and he makes a MEAN espresso martini. There was also live music (a piano player). Here are some suggestions: - I also recommend opting for either a pool view room or a harbor view room. The resort view room is a gamble. You could get a great view, or you could get a view of the parking lot. Trust me, I learned that the hard way LOL. - They add soda to their Old Fashioneds in Wisconsin, so be aware of that. It's a different and acquired taste. Note: the bartender at Waterfront did not add soda to mine - and for that, I was thankful LOL. - There are tons of Winter activities for kids, so expect to see a lot of families if you go during the holiday season. - If you'd rather not be near kids at the pool, spring for a day pass to the spa so you can take advantage of their private pool. The Abbey has become my place to unplug and unwind. I'm thankful to have it as my little oasis! #YelpEliteSquad

Honestly really like this resort, great vibes. The rooms are very clean and up to date, the only thing I can say is they can improve on their lighting in the rooms and bathrooms etc. We had dinner at the 240 restaurant and Nathaniel was such a great server. My mom can be a difficult patron and he was nothing short of amazing. The Food was all cooked perfectly, no complaints from our party of 6. Twice at the bars Carlos took care of us and it's kinda off crazy how he was able to take care of a conference they had going on plus us regular people . I have seen many bartenders fail under the stress and Carlos was not one of them.

Have stayed here a few times over the years because of the location when visiting friends or when in town for events. Last trip this fall, had a room that was small and basic but had tall ceilings which made it feel larger. The best thing about the whole stay - the bed was really very comfortable. Public spaces are older but kept up. Bathroom on small side and average for a hotel like this. I think we paid way too much for what it is and the hotel gets a lot of hype, but if you get a deal or need a room to get a good nights sleep when in town - best option.

Recently had my first stay at The Abbey Resort. Without having been able to enjoy the scenery or outdoor portions of the property, I'd probably call this a 3ish star hotel. It seemed like the main areas of the resort (i.e. front entrance, lobby, dining areas, and bars) have been updated somewhat recently. The entrance was very welcoming, especially with all of the holiday decor this time of year. They have a little coffee shop off one part the lobby, along with a bar through another - both we enjoyed during our stay. This place is kind of a maze with how big it is, so be sure to have your little map handy they give you at check-in. It can be tough to navigate. We zig zagged to building seven where our room was. The room itself was fine. Nothing fancy or updated. Our king bed was comfy, as were the pillows. Bathroom was alright - could have used a little water pressure upgrade in the shower. We didn't dine here at all, but there are eateries on-site. On our visit however, we did go to the downstairs bar/restaurant to enjoy a drink and the Saturday night live music which was fantastic. It looked like there was also a holiday party and a wedding going on in other various spaces within the resort, so plenty of event options here. Can't speak to the other amenities like the (very large) spa, pool, movie theater, etc. as it was a pretty short stay for us, but it's wonderful how many things they do offer. I wouldn't jump at the opportunity to return, but it was still overall a good experience.

My wife and I frequent the waterfront restaurant in the summer for a little treat and I've shot several weddings at The Abbey, so we are no strangers to the resort. This past weekend was our first stay at the resort however. I must say it exceeded my expectations. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, and the spa facilities were clean and relaxing. I do have to give a mention for one particular associate- Jasmin. We kept running into her at the restaurants (she must work a lot!). She was always bright and cheery, helpful and attentive. After a couple of run ins, she was very personable and always delightful. We couldn't tell you how pleasant she made our stay. Over all, we were very pleased with our stay and plan on coming back again for a little weekend getaway. Thank you, Jasmin and thank you to the rest of the staff for helping make it such a pleasant stay.

The spa facilities are constantly breaking down. Hot tub was broken few weeks ago, broken again. Steam room out of order 25% of the time. Fix things or better yet, have someone on staff who can actually maintain things. Spa showers always dirty. So frustrating.

Amazing, peaceful place with an attentive staff! Room was really nice! Spa was heavenly! Restaurant was delicious!

We stayed here recently, resort needs updating. Especially the pool furniture, holes in a lot of the chairs and lounge chairs. Rooms were cozy and beds were comfortable . Food was decent, but the entire lobby was lacking air conditioning for some reason. We had a decent stay but updating is in order.

This is our family's third time here at the resort , we just can't say enough good things about it , and my last stay was simply impeccable !!! I met this young lady Faith at the front desk who helped me out with something . The staff the food everything is just top-notch !!! would highly recommend so many fun things to do too !!!! love this Resort !

My parents first came here in 1986 to celebrate their wedding honeymoon. The service, food and ambiance still hold true to today. I remember coming here in 2006 with my family and later 2016 for my cousins wedding. I love the gift shop the little collectible boats. Kind management, staff and visitors! There still a standard of care in America and they don't thread underneath it.

We have been staying at the Abbey at least once a year probably for the last 10 years. This may have been the last time. 1. The staff is not very friendly or helpful 2. Very difficult to get your belongings to your room because of the layout. Has become more difficult as we have gotten older. 3. Food was left in our little refrigerator. Ewww! 4. Took 2 days to get the lamp on bedside table fixed. Hey, I like to read in bed. 5. Shower door towel bar was broken and could not hang a towel. 6. Bathroom lights are too dim. 7. Little coffee pot basket was missing, had to get a replacement. 8. Not enough chairs to sit outside of your room. Have to keep moving them from your neighbors area, and then they have to do the same thing. Things could be much nicer there. Yes, since we've been going some updates to rooms have been made, but......still needs more. Seems that since Covid the place has changed and declined. They definitely need more help. The pool chairs were new this year, so they were in good shape for now. There should be a time limit of saving pool chairs with a towel on it. We would spend all afternoon there and many of the chairs remained empty, and the people weren't in the pool either! All in all, you just don't get a nice feeling from the place. It's like they're doing you a favor, they don't make you feel very welcome. Kind of hard to explain. Not sure if we'll be back. The main reason we go is the separate adult pool.

My family and I went on a Thursday to Su day. The first night of our stay the water went out. From 8-1130 pm no toilet, shower, sink. Front desk said it was our building but not the whole resort and it should be back on around 11. No offer to move. Called back a few times and when they answered it was pretty much just wait. The amount of bugs at the resort- in our room- gag me. I got a nice big spider bite on my leg too. No bellhop carts to take our bags to the car - 6 trips back and forth is fun. Hot tub at the outdoor did not work at all. The resort needs A LOT of work especially for the price of staying there. I've been coming my whole life and I've never seen it like this. Very sad

If I could give this resort zero stars I would. I began having problems before I ever stepped foot on their grounds. My sorority sisters and I selected the Abby to celebrate our 20th anniversary. However, Abby staff made many aspects of our stay frustrating, were inhospitable and ultimately, allowed valuables to be stolen from us. To begin, I attempted to secure spa services; however, after calling for 3 days consistently, the spa never answered my phone calls, making it impossible for me to secure services. Upon my arrival, I sat and watched a spa staff member let the phone ring, ignoring incoming calls for no apparent reason. Because of this, I was unable to receive spa services at all. Next, I'd made reservations for 14 at 240 West for the Friday night surf and turf special. As soon as our party was seated, we were told that the surf and turf special was not available, even as we watched other patrons being served the surf and turf special. It was not until I lodged a complaint with management that the surf and turf magically became available to us again. On our last day at the resort, we had reservations for the champagne brunch. When we arrived, the staff tried to seat us separately. We had to argue with management to provide accommodations for our party, even with an existing reservation in place. Very disappointing. Finally, as we ate brunch, we had secured our bags with hotel staff. When we went to retrieve our bags, my sister found that someone from the Abby staff had stolen her Gucci purse from her bag. Management was less than concerned and showed no sense of urgency regarding the theft of such an expensive purse. While they went through the motions, they showed absolutely no concern. They refused to review camera footage to identify which of their staff committed the theft, which could've been easily discovered. Don't stay here!

These people are thieves! The bell hop came to our room to get our belongings. We asked him if he could take our belongings to the exit near the Waterfront restaurant-where our vehicle was parked. Instead he took our belongings to the main lobby. When we confronted him in the lobby after waiting for him near the exit by our vehicle-he seemed confused. We were rushing trying to get to brunch-so we decided to house our belongings in the bell hop room near the main lobby. One of the guest services individuals provided a ticket and took our belongings to the bell hop room. Upon return of getting our belongings and going to our vehicle-I looked in my bag and my small Gucci purse was missing. The staff seemed unbothered and the manager seemed to be going through the motions. I was advised to make a police report. I do not recommend this resort, not only was my expensive purse stolen the service was not good nor attentive

If you are staying on the first floor, expect to go both up and down stairs in several areas. The elevators weren't working. When I hung a towel on the towel bar in front of the sink, it fell to the ground. There's not enough lighting, especially in the bathroom. It's dark and dingy, impossible to put on makeup. Carpet was dirty. There's nothing on the Lobby level. Expect to go up and down stairs to go to restaurants, outside, pool, spa, anywhere in the hotel. We had breakfast in the hotel. It was good, reasonable, and the waiter was great. The bellmen were great, hard working, older men. ​

Stayed here 3 nights later part of June. The exterior of the resort is just beautiful. We had adjourning rooms. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was extremely loud and needs to be replaced. The sink and bathtub were dirty. The carpet smelled and needs replacing. Bed sheets were dingy.I can not recall the name of the main dining area, but it smelled stale and looked dingy, and no one was eating inside. Outside the restaurant was much better. The food was good, but the staff seemed relatively new as they would bring food but no eating utensils or they would have to go and get the remaining order. The staff was very pleasant. I had a 50 minute, massage and the masseuse talked the entire time. Truly dissatisfied. The Abbey Resort needs remodeling!

I stayed here for one night and it was fine. The layout is a bit odd and the rooms are somewhat outdated and small. It has very nice amenities including an indoor pool, arcade, two restaurants, a coffee shop, and a movie theater.

If you're any other race then white they gone have a problem with you. They complained that we were being too late and we were barely talking. Not to mention this all happened before 11pm on a Saturday. I think they were mistaken us for the wedding parties they had going on. We did make it cleat hat we wasn't.

This place is beautiful! But to have to spend a $150+ a night for them not to even have any microwaves on the property is absurd! I could go to a cheaper hotel for a full kitchen... So I'm not even able to even heat up any of my food. And they put about $100 charge on the room that we didn't know was a charge? We had to call and ask about the charge! So just be aware they charge you extra to be able to charge food/drinks to your room. The beds are super comfortable, the pillows are nice, and the theme of the room is very marine oriented and beautiful. Our room has a walk-in shower, a king size bed, a hideaway bed, and a large tv with a light bar above the top. The lights are a soft color too so they're not obnoxious. The shades are the best for us night shift people since they're black out curtains. They block out the light perfectly! The breakfast buffet is the better deal too so just a heads up there. $15 for all you can eat compared to an expensive menu?! Yes please! The staff is super friendly though so hence the 3/5 stars. You can tell they feel so guilty whenever you ask about anything and they have to tell you they no longer have something.

My husband and I, both in our seventies, spent three nights at The Abbey in early October. My husband was there for a professional conference and took all his meals with that group; I was on my own. Things I liked about The Abbey: the staff was, without exception, helpful, kind, and responsive. The migas breakfast at 240 West is a great deal. I loved having an exterior door to our room so I could sit on the balcony. The room was clean. The room fridge did not buzz or hum. In the hallways there were several quiet spots with tables, chairs, and sofas where I could work. The beautiful trees on the grounds were a joy to be around. We appreciated our room's plug upgrades; my husband could plug in all his electronic gear at the same time, without plug adapters. Things I didn't like: Walking the distance from our room in Building 6 to all the food service in the main building was exhausting. I could only make the trip once a day -- I'm disabled -- which meant I only got one actual meal a day. There's room service but no menu was available, just a qr square which I couldn't use. The mattresses were way too soft for us. But the very worst thing was the terrifying bathtub. The toilet in our room was tucked up against the tub, which had plate-glass sliding doors that left a narrow entry access. Inside the tub, no grab bar, nothing whatever to get hold of. I see that The Abbey works on upgrading its facility--please, friends, install walk-in showers with grab bars and telephone shower heads. This was a three-star experience; the fourth star is for the excellent staff. I'd go there again for a conference, although I'd ask for a room closer to the main building. I wouldn't go to The Abbey for a vacation--the food is too expensive for us.

The pool and Jacuzzi was really nice and the only downside. It was a little unclean, but it was really really nice. The staff members were really nice too.

Room was ok. Why cant there be chairs outside every room? Not a great experience when the people in the room next door sit in the chairs ( 2 per 2 rooms) for hours provided. There should be two at every balcony. I don't understand why a nice resort can't have a really nice restaurant. No breakfast options other than the iffy restaurant. Wouldn't eat in the restaurants per the reviews. I give it a 2 1/2 star rating. Extra 1/2 star because you have an adult only pool.

Extremely outdated, mold in the air conditioner. My husband refused to sleep there so we were out our money. Never again.

This was absolutely one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a long time, and it was expensive too. The bathroom fan was so long and shaking so hard that it felt like you were on an airplane landing on a runway. I asked the hotel staff to try to fix it, but nothing was done, and they never communicated back to me. The shower drain would not empty during the shower, and there was standing water in the tub. The toilet flush was broken, and every time we flushed the toilet, the water kept running until I lifted off the top and manually fixed it. The bed was lopsided, and so worn out that it felt like you were falling into a hole. Lastly, the hallways and room smelled musty.

What a fantastic resort! Price is so reasonable for all of the amenities you get here! Nice staff, great food options, an arcade and immersion cinema - I mean come on! I can't wait to come back!

Don't know what happened over the years but tried booking here and their website just seems like a complete mess. Hard to navigate on my phone and looks like one big virus site. Hopefully this can be fixed for future guests...

Avoid this hotel at all costs. Nothing good about it, unless you're paying them to have your wedding there.

The rooms are smelly. The are not worth the 600 a night. Yes it is a nice view by the lake but i will never spend my money here again

I stayed at the Abbey resort and was not impressed. Actually very upset, the resort manager Tim Somerville was a complete jerk. The room was dirty. The TV did not work, front desk was not available to help. BUGS! I'm always searching for a good resort for company events, not this place, just not accommodating or friendly. It's like they will do anything to try to get money from guests. I just don't like that approach.....maybe a new management group.

One star is being nice. Worst resort we ever stayed at. Stay away!! Complex is run down, needs maintenance. Room and hallways smell musty. Our bathroom floor was dirty and mold in the shower, the thermostat was not working properly, the mattress way to soft, and walls are thin so the room is noisy to try to sleep. Went to their breakfast buffet on Saturday and walked out because the air was not on, had floor fans all over and at least 85 degrees. Other people walked out too.

Terrible front desk service. Came early to use the facilities on check in date and was told we could not check in before four, which we knew, but also told we couldn't use the pool, workout area or basically anything but the restaurants. We paid extra to launch our boat there and just boated for the day. Would have been $30 cheaper to launch at the public launch. Same thing on check out date. The front desk manager was rude and disrespectful. Treating us like we were an inconvenience, rather than a guest. Didn't ask how was your stay, probably the worst we've been treated at a hotel. My family has stayed at the Abbey for years now and hadn't been back in two years, definitely will never stay again unless management changes the terrible attitude.

Checked into our two adjoining rooms on Sunday 5/21/2023 Very nasty, the rooms are dirty. We found a disgusting open syringe and needle between the bed and nightstand. No manager ever reached out after we called the front desk to have it collected. do not waste your money here. I can't believe I PAID to sleep in a room someone could've been using drugs in just hours prior. DISGUSTED

But they don't have enough washcloths for every room and it took 45 minutes to get breakfast on an almost empty restaurant

Totally out of date and understaffed. Not the cleanest hotel I have ever been to. I got a facial and she didn't extract one thing out of my skin, which seemed like a rip off. The pool area is fine, but pretty crowded. They let you hang at the pool if your room isn't ready yet. We snuck in our own drinks and food into the pool area because everything was overpriced. It is fine if you don't have too high of expectations. Not too many restaurant options in the area.

This is a $250/night motel 6. Actually, motel 6 is probably cleaner because here even the shower has mold growing from it. We had chicken strips, pretzel, and fish tacos with a couple drinks for $170. It was good but not THAT good. You can HEAR EVERYTHING! You want to go to bed early- forget about it, you can hear the band playing a block over. We did say something to the front desk staff and they credited us $100 (or said they would) for the dirty bathroom. So far the staff and bartenders have all been very nice.

We stayed here for our anniversary weekend and were very disappointed with our stay. Our room was filthy. When ready to go to bed, we discovered our sheets had blood stains on them. So we were changing our sheets at 11:30 pm at night - they didn't offer to change rooms, change the bed or anything. Then we discovered hair on the shower walls, a dirty Q-tip on the bathroom floor and "brown stuff" on the side of the wall by the trash can and toilet. We don't think the room was cleaned prior to our arrival. At check out we talked to the manager and there was no apology or offer to comp the room or anything. He just wrote things down and said he would talk to the cleaning people. So - obviously cleanliness is not a priority and as such we will not be staying here again when we have so many other choices of places to stay when in Lake Geneva!!

Got major rashes from pool and Karen lady yelling at everybody. And there's no microwave and fridge freezes everything I put in there

Decent place if you are looking for a spot on Lake Geneva and willing to drive. There are some nice views and good golf courses nearby. Room was clean and ac was cold.

Stayed here for girls trip couple winters ago. Nice place, nice music at night. Enjoyed stay at the room as well as swimming pool, hot tub and ice cream. They also had fire outside and marshmallows and chocolate which was really nice.! It's a good winter getaway ( closer to lake geneva) for couple of night closer to Chicago. Me and my girls enjoyed dancing as well and came back home recharged to tackle winter!! :-)

This place has just gone downhill over the years and has become a dump. The furniture in the lobby and common areas is dirty and worn out. They must never clean it! Elevators are broken and out of order, ice machines don't work, no microwaves in the rooms, and the oare in the hallway by the broken ice machines are so old they can't even heat a bag of popcorn. The beds need new mattresses as they are obviously never flipped. The snack decks were permanently out of pizza for the kids; the rooms have mold and water damage in the ceiling from plumbing and air conditioner leaks. A massive chunk of the ceiling and wet drywall literally fell on top of my mother's bed while she was sleeping on the last night of our trip! The entire hotel, especially the guest rooms smells terrible, like mold, and the ventilation system feels dirty and unhealthy. We could not open either of our exterior room doors because the handles were broken, which is a fire hazard if we needed a second means of egress outside the hotel! We were overcharged for our room, and they charged a $100 incidentals fee on my credit card that was supposed to be refunded at check out, but they never gave us the credit back! I am still trying to get someone from the hotel to call me back to confirm the refund is on the way. The hotel manager was so rude and challenging about the ceiling issue and was very unprofessional when my mom asked for credit or compensation. They did not care about negative reviews, and he challenged us to write this as if he didn't even care that we were upset about the issues that occurred. Well, here you go, dude! Sadly, this might be our last trip to this resort after 20 years of visiting.

Back again at the Abbey and they have improved so much over the pandemic. We were regulars before but disappointed in 2019. Now they are back , upgraded the rooms and service! Housecleaning is back on top of things. We missed being here and will be back soon. Very friendly reception staff and our favorite waiter Jack is still there!

Don't let the website and pictures fool you! The Abbey Resort is in desperate need of NEW on-site management, and/or a new hotel management company. The current resort management company is BenchmarkPyramid (https://www.benchmarkpyramid.com/about_benchmark/). Per the website, the company states "We lead the way" and "provide unparalleled expertise in hotel, resort and conference center management. Our portfolio represents the finest in guest-dedicated hospitality across the U.S. and points beyond." Well, I can assure you the above is NOT the case. This property has been undoubtedly neglected; it's dilapidated, and the service was horrific. Our experience Rooms: We had a room on the second floor with a harbor view. - Pros: Beds were comfortable and TV/entertainment options were good; room was clean; small refrigerator worked well for drinks - Cons: Shared balcony w/ other rooms. A guest next door decided to sit in front of our room window, so much for the harbor view. Certainly didn't want to look at that; charging stations broken; safe in the room was broken; toilet had to be repaired on arrival. Waterfront Restaurant - We went for lunch at 12:45pm; the restaurant wasn't close to full capacity, about -10 tables. It took 10 minutes to get seated, 15 minutes for the server to come to our table. All in, lunch took an hour and a half. Food was over-priced and average at best. We canceled our dinner reservation at 240 West because of this. No reason to spend $$$ on poor service. 240 West Restaurant - Breakfast service was good, and the buffet had a decent range of options to choose from. It was very warm in the room. Either the A/C wasn't working or they didn't turn it down. The lobby when you walk about was much cooler. Family pool: - Need a much larger pool; far too small for the number of families the resorts accommodates. - lounge chairs are damaged and worn. - splash pad items are broken and old. - water slide stairs and railing are rusted. - Spa/hot tub overcrowded w/ more than 10 people at one time. - No staff monitoring and enforcing any rules. When we checked out, the rep at the front desk didn't bother asking how our stay was, which I wasn't surprised with at this stage. I noticed as we left the resort (11am) the sprinklers were running on the front lawn. I guess that explains the dried out yellow grass when you drive in. Grass is supposed to be watered early in the morning during the Summer months, not close to noon. This is just another small example of how the property is being managed. We couldn't wait to drive off the property.

Traveled as a family and enjoyed what was offered. Parking and check-in was easy. The indoor pool is warm and spacious, though the kiddie pool looked a bit gross; probably because the lighting was low/bad. The lobby decor is wonderful and welcoming, staff was kind and helpful. The beds are extremely comfortable and our room was pleasant. We enjoyed walking the path along the water and the night ambiance. Avoid their restaurant at all cost; it's overpriced, bland and horrible. Things to note: no microwave, spotty shower pressure with hard water that'll dry your skin. Enjoyed it for a one-night stay.

Given it 3 stars only because the pool wasn't crowded and they tried with activities like the treasure hunt which my kids enjoyed, but I was a little disappointed with a few stuff like checking in and the room being cold it was like 60 and maybe in the 50's outside so we couldn't really get comfortable right away, the restaurant was terrible service, after like the 3rd day we talked to 2 housekeeping to see if we can get our room cleaned a little and the bed made she told me they don't vacuum the rooms but she'll come in and make the bed and replace the towels but she has 3 other room to do first, we left came back about 4hrs later still hasn't been done had to leave all the garbage bags that we brought ourselves and towels outside the room, they cleaned the room the day after we requested the room to be cleaned mind you we told them in the morning. All their restaurants shops are a little overpriced we bought an item and we stopped at another shop 4 min away and the same item was $4 cheaper. They did have a nice little theatre room and game room and the pool was nice the hallways were little cold.

The resort is pretty and well kept. They have free activities for their guests. Toddler pool and indoor pool. We got good service from them too. They also alot of paid activities in resort. Our first room had neighbors that were smoking, we requested a change and were immediately given a new room. Their rooms are okay, I would expect something better for the price I paid. But I guess this is lake Geneva - it's standard is expensive. Some things they need to change: Our coffee machine was a crap machine, one side brewed more than the other. Come on, update your coffee machines!! That's a major thing for a lot of people! Two lamps in the room and one doesn't work. We lived in bare minimum light after sun down. This was the same case in our previous original room that we requested to change. So looks like other rooms probably have the same issue.

I've stayed at the Abbey for a work event. The property and the rooms are nicely maintained and very clean. There are a few dining options on the premises or a few others within walking distance. The property is situated next to the marina and a short walk to Geneva Lake. If you like to hike, you can walk the short path which is approximately 21 miles around the lake.

VERY displeased with our stay. My family and I wanted to take a family vacation and I found this place online. It looks amazing on the website. But we were not happy with our stay. When we arrived it was such chaos. There was a woman screaming at the front desk staff and the employee was irritated and annoyed. The lady that checked me in was not very personable and just rushed me. We were given horrible directions to our room. There are no carts there to haul your stuff so we ended up wandering all over with all of our stuff trying to find our room. Once we found our room we walked into the carpets being soaking wet. Unsure from what. There are no microwaves in the room or anywhere in the building. There was a loud noise in our room the entire stay, like when your driving down the interstate and you roll the back window down. The showers suck. We ordered food from the Waterfront restaurant. Decent food but way over priced. We called and and asked what time the indoor pool was open till since the weather was not very warm only to come back and find out it was closed. The staff was "friendly" but had a I hate my job attitude. For the price you pay for this place and what you get it is not worth it. I told my husband several times I would have rather stayed in the dells or somewhere else. I will never stay at this place again. And I think that a lot needs to be changed. Especially charging properly for what you get.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Abbey Resort from May 17-21st. Our stay at the resort was very comfortable and enjoyable. Most of the employees were courteous and professional. Special kudos to the 240 west restaurant employee ROMEO SINCLAIR, whose professionalism surpassed the norm. He was extremely attentive, helpful and kind. The atmosphere he created was extremely welcoming causing us to limit our dining to that restaurant only. Hopefully, he will be present when we return to Abbey Resort. Stayed here 4 nights straight my room was nice & clean but shower was not. I had to clean it myself since we checked in at 9pm no one was there to come clean it. Then found out they don't clean rooms anymore bc of Covid you have 2 be checked out..A lot of trash cans in hallways was filled w garbage & I noticed they took their time empty them. And people's room service trays were on floor in hallway as well. Heard room service food was not that great & expensive so we went out 4 food If you needed new towels you had call front desk & housekeeping would come give u new ones & take your old ones. Every worker I met was nice & helped me. Spa was nice & clean you have pay $25 per day to use it & on Saturdays that their busiest day so book ahead
