The Best Chicken Wings In Chicago - Chicago - The Infatuation

"As far as naked wings go, this busy corner bar in River West has some of the best. Aberdeen’s wings have a flavorful smoky char, putting them a tier above most spots before sauces are even thrown into the mix. But the crowning achievement of their culinary chemistry is—pause for dramatic effect—the Buffalo sauce. It’s the perfect balance of buttery and vinegary flavor, with a little sweetness to keep you from looking like the Warheads logo. Plus, they sell it in bottles, so you can always keep some in your bag in case of emergency." - adrian kane, phaithe norman, john ringor

The Aberdeen Tap - Review - River West - Chicago - The Infatuation

"This River West bar has some of the best chicken wings in the city. The naked wings alone already have a pleasant smoky char, and get even more flavor from housemade sauces like spicy jerk or BBQ. The Buffalo is especially delicious—a perfect balance of buttery and vinegary, plus a little bit of sweetness. But if you don't really care about wings (you should), other dishes like their gator or duck sausages and the BBQ adobo chicken grinder are also delicious. Come by to catch a game, unwind with some friends, or relax with a beer on their patio." - John Ringor

12 Restaurants For When No One Can Make A F*cking Decision: West Loop Edition

"Despite your best efforts, you might find that deciding on a restaurant for you and your friends has become more like chaperoning a rowdy class trip where everyone’s getting hangrier by the minute. Instead of threatening to turn this car around, just give up and take everyone to Politan Row, the upscale food hall in the same building as the McDonald’s headquarters. There they can all scatter, order whatever they want, then reconvene on the patio. Assuming they can decide which of the nine stalls to go to." - adrian kane

Google
Stopped in for a lunch and immediately entered a small, quaint bar. I heard through the grapevine their wings are good. So I had to try. Started off with the potato skins which you don't find often in the city. LOVED these, perfect cheese and bacon. Wished they gave like 1-2 more skins. Then got 2 orders of wings. I was hungry. 8ct of Mango Habenero and 8ct of Hot Buffalo. WOW. Delish. The mango habenero not hot, with that nice sweet touch. The hot buffalo did it for me. It's a thick sauce, perfect amount of heat, and had me wanting to eat more. Up there with Birds Nest and Toons for me. Will be coming back for those hot buffalo wings.

jd M.

Google
ONLY the Jerk and Carolina Gold were amazing for flavor. Do NOT get the mango habanero (very disappointing). Sweet potato tots were great too.

Kate S.

Google
My boyfriend and I ordered the chili and two grilled chicken wraps. While the quality of the wraps was good, the portion sizes were noticeably smaller than what they used to be. It was shocking to me that the wraps of these size cost $18.50 a piece!! They were the size of a McDonald’s snack wrap for reference. The chili portion was small as well. The food is good but not worth the money.

Google
I came here to watch the Super Bowl and I had an amazing time! Started with the chili fries they were delicious. Later ordered the wings and they were some of the best I’ve ever had. The service was great and our server was funny and very attentive!

Google
I came here to try their wings and 10/10! The Jerk did have a kick to it. I came at the perfect time before it got packed. Staff was really friendly.

Google
I stopped by recently and was impressed by their friendly staff and laid-back atmosphere. I started with the Mac & Cheese Squares, which were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside—a definite must-try. For my main, I went with the Gator Banger, a flavorful sausage that didn't disappoint. I washed it all down with a couple of craft beers from their impressive selection. The whole meal set me back around $40, and it was well worth every penny.

Google
I love this spot! The wings are always a hit, and the Southwest salad is another favorite. There are a few items I tend to skip, like the nachos, but overall I really enjoy the food here and keep coming back.

Google
Aberdeen Tap is amazing. I appreciate the staffs and managers kindness to me even though I have autism and their food is amazing and really good. Owner Turan is very nice. The restaurant is in good condition. Amazing pork belly grinder. Must come back. 10/10.

Yelp
Top 3 wings in the city (in no particular order) Great place to grab drinks and really good food. Staff is very friendly, this plave is how a neighborhood bar should be. 10/10

Yelp
Wings - Carolina Golden, MacnCheese bites, chicken wrap, Chili...OMG! Everything is great Looks like an ole' hole in the wall, but Fab food, street parking

Yelp
So yummy! I highly recommend the tamarind wings if you like strong flavors. Expect some waits on a Friday night, it is a popular spot. Service here is great.
google avatar

Yelp
Love to the wings! All flavors are great, not to mention the staff is super kind. Definitely will be coming back!

Yelp
We were all hungover and needed saving, thank you Aberdeen Tap for your service! Fun lively atmosphere to watch the closing ceremony of the Olympics! Great attentive service and everything was so quick! We got the Mac and cheese squares to start and wow they were incredible!!! Love that they come with ranch and Mariana? Literally no notes they were perfect and great to share! The wings were phenomenal and are huge!!!!! Really enjoyed this Sunday! Put us in a great mood

Yelp
Great buffalo wings and a tasty Paloma. Bartenders are friendly. Great neighborhood dive. My tasty wife loves those tasty winggggggs.

Yelp
This is a go to spot for me whenever I'm around. Its front area has a decent sized bar with a nice amount of tables and when it's warm they have outdoor seating as well as a back area with more tables and some tvs. The food here is really good, they have an assortment of sausages to some of the better wings (really good texture and flavors) in the city, for sure the neighborhood. I've had no complaints when I have been about anything including service, it does get busy so just know that. Great service, food and drinks. Catch some sports on the TVs. What more do you want?
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Had a couple of spritzes and wings here. Great low key bar with good food. We started with scrumptious Mac and cheese bites and then shared the jumbo wings - we got mango habanero and hot buffalo. These were delicious and saucy. I also got a small side salad, but this was overdressed. Otherwise, everything was great.

Jim F.

Yelp
Walked in about 7pm on a Friday with my roommate. We wanted wings a few beers. No one at door and bartender inattentive. There were several open tables. So, we sat down and the inattentive bartender who could not be bothered by our presence bar went off on and yelled at us Totally uncalled for. We left. Won't be back after being treated like shit. Too many other places in the area that want and appreciate our business. The food could be great. But who wants to be screamed at? If being treated like shit is your idea of fun, go here. If it's not go elsewhere. No excuse!!
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
This is my new favorite wing spot! Food was very quick, good sports bar vibes! To start we got nachos and Mac n cheese bites. The nachos were more of a wonton chip, they were good. The Mac n cheese bites were amazing. Sooo crispy! The wings are so good, cooked perfectly. I got the Carolina gold and mango habernero. The Carolina gold is sooo good, has a sweet taste. The mango habernero could be. Abut spicier but overall loved it!

Yelp
Love Aberdeen Tap. Whether I'm just grabbing lowkey drinks at the bar or hanging at a table, it's always a chill spot in the West Town/River West area. Finally tried the food for the first time last week and got the chicken wrap which was super solid, and the fries were surprisingly great too. It's never overwhelmingly packed, which I appreciate, and the overall vibe is super relaxed with good music and a cool crowd. Drinks are on point, and the bartenders are always friendly. Definitely one of my newer favorite go to spots.
google avatar

Katerina R.

Yelp
Summertime chi was in full effect so after looking at photos, I wanted to try this spot to sit on the sidewalk patio outside! I arrived and asked for a table for two and it was just a short wait at 7pm on a Thursday. The staff were kind and we decided to order the wings, fries, and the grilled chicken wrap!everything was just okay and nothing special, and the chicken wrap didn't have too much chicken in it, mainly lettuce and bacon bits. The vibe is fun being a neighborhood spot, but I won't be returning.
google avatar

Sam V.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot! I've been coming here for several years now. Always super friendly staff and excellent food. And now they have potato skins! Yeah!!! Great place to catch a bite and the game or chill out on the patio.

Yelp
The Aberdeen Tap has an awesome location. It is very clean and the staff is super nice! I highly reckoned it if you're in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in for some classic bar food and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. We had the buffalo cauliflower and chicken wings, both of which were amazing, and we've been back since. They also have a nice draft list, and the service was excellent.
google avatar

Susan M.

Yelp
Cool Chicago bar. Great service and healthy real pours. We will be back when in the hood.
google avatar

Tracy L.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by the food. Above average bar food and several options. The table shared nachos, and that gave me confidence to order something else. I don't remember which grinder it was, but it reminded me of a Philly Cheesesteak with chicken instead of steak. It was rich and cheesy. The steak fries were crispy. Yum!
google avatar

Remi W.

Yelp
Great food! We placed an order through Uber Eats and it was incredibly efficient. Took less than 20 minutes from order to delivery. We ordered the wings, Caesar salad, chicken sandwich, and the nachos. Everything was delicious. Would definitely order all of those items again. Great food would recommend and would come back.
google avatar

Liz O.

Yelp
I love this place. I've never had bad service because the servers and bartenders I've encountered are so incredibly friendly and on top of it. But the main reason for this review is because we need to talk about these buffalo cauliflower wings they have because omg. I literally dream about them. They're so, so good. I'd go every day for them if I could. If I could add one thing to this place it would be a happy hour price menu for drinks. But these wings being $13 for themselves is a great deal as is, I will say. Anyway, get these cauli wings they're so good I could cry.
google avatar

Kaitlin K.

Yelp
Wowza to the onion rings. Beer battered and a little peppery, absolutely delicious. The rest of our food was also surprisingly delicious, we had heard good things about it from friends in the neighborhood but looking at it I was expecting blah bar food. How wonderful to be wrong. We had the grilled chicken wrap and the southwest salad. The salad had a spicy dressing which was not kidding around. The chicken wrap was fresh and also has bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and avocado very fresh and creamy. The entire menu looks interesting, we had a hard time limiting ourselves. The outside is a dog friendly patio. There are no reservations and the dining area on the patio is quite narrow- it was hard to keep the dog from getting in the way of foot traffic as a result. Based on the size, this place is best for groups of 4 or less. Service was the one underwhelming piece for me, we came fairly early after opening on a Saturday and although it wasn't busy we were rushed to order and then one order was partially incorrect. Overall the food was impressive enough that I would give it another go.

Yelp
One of my fav places for a good drink and bar food. The mac and cheese bites and buffalo chicken egg rolls are to DIE for. I love taking friends here and getting them hooked.
google avatar

Serge G.

Yelp
The Mac and cheese cubes had a beautiful crunchy exterior with a soft cheesy gooey interior, you should definitely try these. Also got the warm soft pretzels, these were alright, but not something that's a must order. Also, they had these grinders, specifically one of the most intriguing ones was the duck grinder with duck confit, crispy duck skin, chimichurri, and garlic aioli. I liked it, but was completely caught off guard with their truly delicious wings. We got two orders, and each order comes with 8 wings. The Buffalo sauce was solid, and paired well with the blue cheese, but a surprising flavor was the Jerk. The jerk had a smoky charred flavor with some heat. The Chiliyaki, now this was sweet, minimal heat level, and a nice play on teriyaki. My second favorite wing that I tried behind the buffalo was the Carolina Gold. It was sweet, tangy, and all of these wings were fried wonderfully.

Yelp
Good bar on the corner. It doesn't look like much, but it's better than it looks. The Aberdeen Tap is a casual place fun for gatherings and whatever. Has lots of beers on tap and mixed drinks. You can also get pretty good food including some healthier choices and not just the typical fried stuff. A somewhat unassuming place when you come upon it. It's on the corner of Aberdeen and Hubbard in a residential neighborhood. This is a good walk from the Blue Line station. Last time it was pretty busy. There were football games on the TVs. Even so, we were able to get seated at the bar. It's about $7 for a typical cocktail. There's also a few local beers on tap. Also, the food. We each got an Impossible Burger, pleasantly surprised about the choices for vegetarians. It's $16, but it's big. This comes with two patties, and a side. A lot of other food is typical stuff for a bar. They have wings and stuff like that. Better than expected. It's a pretty chill neighborhood bar, except when there's games on. The drinks are plentiful, and there's food options for vegans and vegetarians.
google avatar

Paige D.

Yelp
Finally got the chance to sit at Aberdeen and it didn't disappoint. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was buzzing with the best Chicago summer energy. Great staff, food and bar. Try the nachos with chicken.
google avatar

Ali M.

Yelp
This place is such a staple. It's exactly what you'd think it would be - low key with great drink prices and mediocre food. Was everything outstanding? No. But it's dependable and cheap and great for a neighborhood bar.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
A low key place to grab a drink or some snacks. The buffalo cauliflower was deliciously. I would definitely order it again. The hummus platter was good. But didn't come with enough veggies to dip hummus in. The Aperol sprits were refreshing (I ordered 2 so obviously like it).
google avatar

Maggie A.

Yelp
Stopped in to watch the Men's Basketball Olympic final between USA & France after dropping our dog off at a grooming appointment and am SO glad we did. The bar is super welcoming, and on this night day had people on the patio with windows open. We grabbed a seat, initially, at the bar, but moved to an open table (zero issues with staff following our tab). We grabbed some fries & Buffalo chicken egg rolls and they were both so good. We immediately looked at the menu to see what we'd get next time - can't wait to go back

Ryan J.

Yelp
The best polish sausage I have ever had paired with an old style. My life was made at 11 pm.

Peter R.

Yelp
This bar is just up the street from me, has a really nice outdoor area and I've wondered why I don't use it more. Well today I realized, stopped there for two beers and an a simple appetizer at 5:30, when many other bars in the neighborhood are offering happy hour pricing. Two IPA's and one appetizer with tip $40. We ordered potato skins which were as pathetic as I've ever witnesse. I had no idea Russet potatoes came in such minuscule sizes. Four tiny little skins topped with a bit of cheese and bacon bits, $14. Add the tax and tip to that and you're looking at $18 plus for 4 measly potato skins. I honestly felt I was mugged, and won't be returning anytime soon despite the fact it's only a stones throw away. I truly hate to be ripped off like this.
google avatar

Samir K.

Yelp
Got delivery. Definitely impacted how good the food was. The grilled chicken wrap was super flavorful. Nice grill marks on the chicken, abundance of mayo, crunchy lettuce and bacon, and creamy avocado. Panini pressed. Sweet potato tots were sweet and yummy. The problem was that both things especially the tots were soggy. The pressed tortilla was soft and there was no crispiness to the tots. Would get again just in person.
google avatar

Yelp
After a fun weekend, my boyfriend wanted a chill spot to watch the Bears game. We stopped by here and had a great burger! It was so much fun to hang out with other locals and yell at the TV screens together lol
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
One of my go to bars in the area. Great food, drinks and the bartenders are like family!
google avatar

Marlene S.

Yelp
Called ahead for estimated waited time on a WARM chicago Saturday and luckily for us there was no wait time! We walked right in and were able to get one of the few empty tables outside. We came during brunch so my friend had a mimosa and I had an aperol spritz. I can't remember what my friend had to eat, but I went with the poutine. I forgot to ask for no egg but here we are. It was tasty and I had left overs, but could have had more cheese. Overall chill vibes.
google avatar

Karen G.

Yelp
SOMUCHFOOD. Such good food. Ordered the Croatian sausage app and it's almost a full meal. My family is Croatian and the meat was quite good here. Got the Cuban sandwich and I swear it was bigger than my head. I ate half and I was stuffed! It was easily 2 inch plus high. It does have a lot more pork in the sandwich compared to ham in it. Nice beer selection , quick service.

Tommy S.

Yelp
The wings and Mac and cheese bites were delicious and a good price! Bravo !! Would definitely order out again
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
Fun local neighborhood hangout. Was on a pub crawl Friday with a friend in the area and he took me here. While too nice of a place to be labeled a dive bar, I will still put it in that category out of respect and my love of these types of places. Bartenders that feel like they've known you for years, great local beers, and of course classic "old man" beers like PBR on tap. Did not get any food but I imagine it's decent by the size of the back kitchen. Great friendly service, sports on televisions, strong local neighborhood vibe. All aces in my book
google avatar

Saurin M.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar & food. I recommend it to all my AirB&B guests and it's in the list of nearby favorites I share with them. Most say they tried it and like it.

Darian F.

Yelp
It helps when you live a block down the road, but this is my go to spot for great wings. Their Carolina gold wings with an order of sweet potato tots is my go to! Great food, good service, solid atmosphere!
google avatar

Melanie V.

Yelp
First time here and pleasantly surprised. Super kind staff, lots of seating choices, free parking around the block, and great food. The mac and cheese squares are incredible! Super creamy yet crispy on the outside and paired with the marinara...oh so good. Pretzels were soft and salty. Good cheese and mustard dipping sauces. Caesar salad was great but those nachos!!! Wow is the wonton where it is at! Great food, nice beer list too. Deducting a star because we brought my son and the bathroom wasn't large enough to change him which is a challenge for us to return. If he isn't with us the. We are in!

Sam W.

Yelp
Fun spot, bar in the front with a quieter but still lively seating area in the back. Great wings, and good burgers. Will be back!
google avatar

Jess C.

Yelp
Ok this might sound a lil crazy but leaving this review cause people need to know. The grilled chicken here is absolutely amazing. Literally its the best grilled chicken add on to a salad Ive ever had in my life. The chef has some magic going on but seriously if you get a salad and you dont get the grilled chicken on it, youve made a BIG mistake. For the chicken alone...10/10

Nick F.

Yelp
How was our food? Well we ordered to go and I have been dealing with food poisoning since 3am and haven't gotten out of bed all day. That being said, we used to love this place but something was a bit off and now you couldn't get us back if it was free. I've never dealt with food poisoning before, but I am certainly not going to go through this again if I can control it. Thanks
google avatar

Anushi T.

Yelp
Friendly, neighborhood bar. Great place to stop for a drink in a casual environment. They have a good menu with varying options, and although the food isn't anything to write home about, it's good enough to want to keep coming by. Good specials, and great service.
google avatar

FatmanStan F.

Yelp
I would say, top five, maybe top pub/gastropub grub in chicago, edges out Centennial and even my beloved Owen and Engine. Literally everything rules, got the Cubano grinder last night and good lord, so good, unctuous, rustic and indulgent. Got the poutine, a little light on curds but equally indulgent and amazing. Also had a few bites from their chicken sandwich and let me tell you that was brined in something really amazing. All in all, best food around for this setting, wish for a little more beer options.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Great spot for wing and a beer. The service is really good and there always seems to be a fun crowd.

Elizabeth E.

Yelp
They have some of the best chicken tenders I've ever had! Very dog friendly patio, good beer selection.
google avatar

Andrea O.

Yelp
I spent money on TouchTunes just for the bartender to scream "f*ck Taylor Swift" and unplug the machine. I spent so much money at the establishment and on TouchTubes to just get harassed by their employee. That's truly all I have to say on the people they hire and the environment they create.
google avatar

Danielle J.

Yelp
I used to like this place - but the bartender (Scotty) was extremely rude rude. Someone else who worked here warned us about his attitude. Super uncomfortable to the point where I won't come back.
google avatar

Rhett B.

Yelp
After seeing this wonderfully aesthetic exterior for many weeks I decided to stop by and give it a go. I was not disappointed. The drinks are made well and priced at a good value. A solid beer here will run about $6-$8 max and the "featured cocktails" are typically $8. The interior is a small corner of a building that is wonderfully decorated. Food is excellent and can hold its own against a "conventional" restaurant. I would return as a regular, and if your visiting Chicago, I would 100% recommend for food or drink!
