The Admiralty, Trafalgar Square

This is one of very many visits to The Admiralty over the years and it did not disappoint! It is a very busy Thursday and didn’t notice. While seating was limited on the main floor with big parties, they did a great job of giving notice. We came for a late dinner and have never seen two harder workers than Emma and Lewis! Both took incredible care of us despite being very busy. Thank you!

Friendly and Entertaining atmosphere, great food - we shared the meat pie, bone marrow for 2 and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend the London Pride Beer as well fantastic.

Service was a one star! It wasn’t fully I mentioned that you’d need to head to the bar to order your food, but it turns out there weren’t any waitstaff there. The host, who sat at our table, didn’t quite make this clear. Once we figured out how to order, the food was amazing! The drinks were also amazing, but I wasn’t too happy when the one I wanted ran out. He had to leave our table to get another one right in the middle of our meal. The atmosphere was great and welcoming, though.

This is a gem in the middle of a very crowded tourist area. The host was able to get us a great table super fast with a friendly and inviting attitude. The atmosphere was warm, charming and full of history. We went for the Sunday roast was not disappointed. Food was delicious and serving size plenty with great price. Rahul our waiter was especially helpful, courteous and kind.

I visit again definitely. Great atmosphere and great location in the heart of Trafalgar Square. Only had the nachos to eat. It was very busy and you can tell they just threw them together. I’m not going to judge the food because of what the crowd was. I will review the food at a later time.

Way more squirming, screaming little kids than I’d anticipated! Felt like I was surrounded by human petri dishes, and very happy that I’d decided to wear a mask, in advance of Much Less coughing and sneezing than I found to be the case.

Great place for food and drinks. Lot of space, good variety of local beers and nice food. I ordered fish and chips and after i got it i asked for more tatar sauce. The waiter kindly bring to me two more portion for free. It was really kind. Five Star for the crew 🥰

Lovely team! We visited for a Sunday Roast and had a great time. We had a birthday in our group... upon realising, the team immediately brought out a birthday card and drink voucher. The service was friendly and very attentive, food was good and we enjoyed our experience. We even enjoyed a game of Connect 4! When I called a few days later, the lady was very helpful and had a look in lost property. Would recommend!

What a distinguished and cute pub! Visiting the area and my friend couldn't wait to take me here to visit due to it being one of his favorite places to go. I absolutely loved the decor of the pub and appreciated the service. I had never had many of the beers on tap and the servers were so kind and letting me taste a few before I made my decision. I didn't get to taste the food but that will be next on my list the next time I visit.

We stopped in here for a quick bite on a cold day of touring London. Located directly on Trafalgar Square, this location caters primarily to the tourist crowd. We had a nice booth over looking the square and Nelson's column. Service was good and the food was OK. We didn't do anything too amazing. Just a BLT and a cheese and onion toastie. Both sandwiches could have stayed on the press a few moments longer to crisp up more, but the warm food and good service was appreciated.

This is a lovely place to grab a beer and enjoy a meal! We were in the Trafalgar square area and looking for a place to eat. Hubby remember seeing this place on a review and went in without a resv which was fine because they had a lot of seating downstairs- a bit dark but got a table right by the bar. The staff was very nice, helpful & friendly. The food is very very good. We ordered the pie sharing board and the fish and chips! The host let us know that was a lot of food but we had to try since we were leaving UK the next day, and so glad we did. You can't go wrong with the pie sharing board and the fish and chips satisfied our cravings. Will be back when we are back in London!

My fave bar pub in London! Super friendly staff, fun atmosphere on the main level. They have an upper area and then a "dungeon "on the lower deck, which is much quieter and super cool! Totally love the vibe of this place! If you wanna make some friends come here! Price is a reasonable. We had a few beers and some ice cream... I know that's a pretty crazy combination but when you have the need and they have it, you get it!

A rare 5-star review: This place is excellent. It's the second time I've been here--this time with my wife. We called ahead for a seat, and sure enough, they had it ready for us at a hectic time. We perused the menu and then walked up to the bar to place our order. We both had a few cocktails (get the old-fashioned) and shared a scotch egg, fish, and chips. The ambiance is excellent - inside and out. The location is fantastic - right near Trafalgar Square. There are plenty of ways to get to The Admiralty as Underground stations are nearby. Good service, good food, great atmosphere. Stop in while in London.

Right on Traflagar square! English pub ambience, festive and cheerful vibe! Yorkshire pudding was good, fish & chips were plentiful and the chicken leek pie was exceptional! The peach lager was light and amazing! The service was average but you get what you pay for! Great experience! A must stop in London!!

Love this place. Pub-feel with both indoor and outdoor patio seating. On first glance you might confuse this for a tourist trap, but it is reasonably priced food and we had a delicious meat pie here. For those who watch great British bake off, there was no soggy bottom here! We weren't super hungry so split a London pride steak meat pie and left pleasantly content. Service was good. Ambiance was perfect for a casual meet up and for families. I will be coming back to try the meat pie sampler soon!!

What a great time at The Admiralty! It was a hot day on June 18, 2025, in London, and I was in need of a cold drink, mainly beer!!! Walking from St. James Park, my friend and I saw the pub. Our server was amazing and wanted me to experience the true British menu, including the beer. I was given a sample of the room temperature beer, but I was not a fan. She suggested Frontier Lager, which was chilled, and I loved it. I was going to get fish & chips, but switched to the Trafalgar Pie because my server said I would love it. I'm so glad I did. It consisted of beef, port & mushrooms, topped with a puff pastry lid, served with mashed potatoes, aka buttered mash. It was divine! Think of it as the best beef pot pie you've ever had! The decor is beautiful as well! Despite the 90ºF weather, it was fairly cool inside even without AC. I saw a YouTube travel video saying to avoid any restaurants in Trafalgar Square, but this was a perfect pub experience.

Wonderful! This is no ordinary pub grub people! England has a thriving farm to table movement going on. They have rejected chemicals and processed foods (besides crisps (chips) lol) and have gone back to their native soil to cultivate beautiful fresh nutrient rich produce. The atmosphere was pure proud Britain with the bonus of it being right in the famous Trafalgar Square! The service was very polite! The food was great, fresh and flavorful!

The Admiralty is my first impression with my first trip to London. Even before arriving, I received the best service. I emailed Elise and asked to be seated at a viewing table so we could watch a football game. She replied immediately and accommodated my request. The day of the reservation, I had to ask for a later time, and she again replied promptly and accommodated my request. We had the best experience during our visit. We ordered the Sunday roast and it was delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection and the sides were amazing. We were seated in front of the TV that was airing the game we requested. The service was impeccable. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We met other diners and chatted about sports. We stayed through 2 games and were fortunate to enjoy the live jazz music. It was the perfect day. We will definitely return! Cheers!

I saw this place the first night I got in and knew it was gonna be a cool place. Though I didn't get to try it on the spot, I made a visit later on in the week and finally got to dine there. The whole place is a tribute to Lord Nelson and his HMS Victory. Very beautifully decorated with period pieces all over the place and plenty of illustrations, the Admiralty did not disappoint. We sat topside where a nice waiter, who reminded me of Mick Jagger worked at. Since we hadn't had a burger yet, my girlfriend and I both partook in that and tried these small fried crispy short rib beef & cheddar nuggets with picked topped. They were okay, but it was a new thing to try. The burgers were the main course and we were happy with the results. It came with steak fries and the bun was perfect. They had Fullers on tap and had two pints while there. By the end of lunch, I was a happy man. Couldnt have asked for a better experience.

Cute spot right across the street from Trafalgar Square. Visited on a Sunday evening for the roast. Unfortunately, we came right after all the roast plates were sold out (6:30 pm). Our server mentioned to come before 5:00 pm if you want the roast. Instead, my family got various pies and they were all delicious! My chicken, bacon, & leek pie was piping hot at delivery (I burnt my mouth). The flavor was fabulous! Mashed potatoes were a bit bland, so I added salt and gravy. TIP: If coming on Sunday, make a reservation and come before 5:00 pm to get the roast!

Not sure where to start. The FOOD! We ate here twice. The first was Sunday for a Sunday Roast -I chose the chicken. It was so delicious and it was paired with several veggies and everything was amazing. The second was a couple of days later and we chose the beef pie for two. It also came with several veggies that my non veggie eating husband ate. The food was the best 2 meals we ate in 10 days in London. The service was pleasant and timed just right. Our server, Aswathy, was so accommodating and friendly.

Prob one of the best pubs we tried in London. While definitely in a touristy area and prices as such the ambiance and service felt very quaint and local and friendly. The steak and ale pie was so delicious, scones and tea were the perfect ending to the meal. Definitely try this place.

Came here with a reservation for Sunday roast around 6:30PM. We arrived with empty stomachs ready to eat, however, unfortunately almost EVERY single item on the Sunday menu was sold out? It was a bummer and very odd as we were visiting in town excited to try a London roast meal... However, I then ordered a vegetarian squash pie with chips/fries and roasted veggies on the side. It was fine, I just think that classic British food is a bit plain. We also ordered a side of the pigs in blankets, which was good as well. Just different than what I thought they would be. Overall not a bad experience but wouldn't be back.

Came here last week for dinner with my daughter. Was looking for traditional British pub food and was not disappointed. I had the fish and chips and my daughter (she's 6) had the hamburger. Both were finished in no time. Delicious. What I particularly love about this pub though is the atmosphere. It is newly done and it is beautiful. I loved the nautical theme, the colors and decorations. It's so pretty. And being right in Trafalgar Square, you can't beat the location. We went on a Monday evening before a show and made a reservation online. I don't know if it was necessary but it was nice to know we had a spot waiting for us when we go there. (I only made the reservation a few hours before we wanted to eat too) If you're looking for a lovely pub for dinner, I recommended.

It's about 5:30pm in the middle of rush hour and we're visiting Trafagar Square and found this cute little pub called The Admiralty Instead of dealing with traffic we decided to get some beers and appetizers to kill some time. Place has three levels indoors and outdoor tables facing the square. They have a great variety of local beers and some imported too. We chose to sit outside and Nathan at the bar took care of our order. After trying a few samples I ordered the local brew and later sn Amstel light and accompanied it with fish and chips and also pork scratching with apple sauce. Draft beer was ice cold and food was delicious and exactly what we expected to have in an English pub to set the amp Ian e. Staff was super friendly and Nathan was awesome. Loved the decor that goes with theme of square honoring admiral Nelson and the victory at the battle Trafalgar where British were triumphant over the French. Loved this awesome pub and place to visit for drinks and food and highly recommended while in London.

Sunday roast dinner was decent. Wanted to try the half chicken half roast but they had run out.

Worst food I ever tried. Won't eat even it's free. Restaurant atmosphere is good. Stuffs are great. Food is the total opposite. Hope no one have to try this shit.

Great experience with very well prepared food. Not a tourist trap! The pie for two was homey and delicious.

My wife and I stopped at the Admiralty simply by chance. We split a chicken Cesar salad which was awesome and our server Alay was great. Never once had an empty glass of beer as he was very attentive to us, but in a good way! Highly recommend the Admiralty!

Sad to see this place seems to have permanently closed. I'd suggest continuing on past Trafalgar Square into Covent Garden for other hood options.

Food was outstanding!! Loved the vibe and friendliness of the staff. Espresso martini wasn't made w real espresso so a bit sweet, but I think it's really more of a beer drinkers' place. Loved it there :)

Recommend you go somewhere else if you wish for decent food or service. This place is beautiful inside, and might have been fine had we only gone in for drinks We made the mistake, however, of ordering food. That was, after all the purpose of our having made a reservation for a Father's day Sunday roast. Ah yes, the famous British Sunday roast. Our party if five ordered two "Duo" roasts, meaning they would come with both chicken and steak, served with Yorkshire Pudding and potatoes. We ordered two "Bruschetta". We ordered one fish and chips from the kid's menu. The kid's meal was the only presentable food. The steak was gristly, fatty, and uncooked. It was maybe 3mm thick, by 4cm wide, 15cm long. In other words, worthless. The chicken was a single thigh. Potatoes undercooked, and the pudding was flat, soggy in places, hard in others, tasteless. Our server supposedly "checked with the kitchen" and reported back that the pudding should be different than what they had served. Upon our infoeming her that it was bad she said "sorry" and left. The "bruschetta" was a single piece of bread with insanely large tomato wedges and olives one of which contained a pit. Comically, they brought us four sets of cutlery and four glasses of water. As mentioned above, there were five of us. When we asked for another water, they brought three. This was an awful dining experience overall.

Bad service. Even worse food. The absolutely worst Sunday roast with tough Yorkshire pudding, and soggy veggies. The waitress told us that's how it should be and left. And beware, bruschetta had an olive pit in. ‍ Save your money So disappointing for Father's Day lunch with our guests.

Aswathy was wonderful. Excellent service with a smile and attention to our needs. Also made good recommendations such as eggplant curry.

We ate lunch at this place during a time when the restaurant was the busiest. We got a table right away and Miguel our waiter served us not only promptly but also with a huge smile. We ordered fish and chips and the steak pie, and it was absolutely delicious. BTW, we were in the middle of a bad heat wave in London and we appreciated the air conditioning and comfy place..

My food was ok, my wife on the other hand was very unhappy with hers. The one waitress who was covering all tables up top worked her butt off, the place is nice.

Last time we visited this pub we were soaking wet from a torrential downpour. This time the weather was much more friendly to us. I love this pub, the staff are great but the main reason is that it hasn't changed into a restaurant. You can walk in, sit down and have a few pints. Should you feel peckish then food is available and brought to your table with the cutlery etc etc. No set tables which makes, to me, a very uncomfortable scenario if you just want a pint. Hope it doesn't change.

Stopped by for lunch at end of a walking tour of London. Yes, we were a tourist family that chose this restaurant based on location and rushed glance at internet reviews. The pies (we tried several) were all excellent. Fish and chips - dubbed by my son (who has quite sophisticated taste in food) to be the best of the various iterations we have tried on our London trip thus far. Check out the winding path to the bathrooms. We felt like we were on a ship!

Disappointing quality of food at expensive prices. The fish cakes are mostly potato with hardly any fish to be found. A vegetable side dish was tiny. Very busy and noisy which is expected at such a popular tourist area. The basement was much quieter. Service was good, all staff very helpful and friendly

My husband and I tried a few other places to eat, with no availability. Unless you have a minimum of 3 people, without a booking, you do not get seated in a couple of places. We are glad we stopped in to this wonderful place. Indi got us a table within 15 minutes. She was absolutely pleasant. Great service, fish and chips were delicious and not greasy. Thank you, Indi, for making our last night in London memorable.

Great service and fun pub to hang in the afternoon on a cloudy day. Busy, buzzing, good vibe. Bar keeps are friendly and very helpful choosing a brew. Live guitar music ! Didn't have any good but, plates around me look fantastic! Full, large portions! Would highly recommend !

Stayed at a hotel next door and decided to check out this pub for an easy meal. What a great find! The low down on the food- Enjoyed the steak pie and chips, the calamari and the sticky toffee pudding. Would pass on the Vietnamese wings. Great atmosphere, really cute, nice pub, not what you think of as a "pub" in the America's. Service was really friendly as well and prices are great! We will be back next time we're in London.

Unbelievable place!!! This place is huge with many different rooms and bar areas. Happy hour is slammed but it makes the ambience. They have tons of beers and the menu is amazing. I decided to get the flight pies. They did not disappoint. They were expensive but totally worth the money. The beer pairing were perfect and couldn't have been happier. We also got the cobbler and the toffee pudding which both were very good. While in London put this on your list!! Amazing!!!

Here in London for a week and was really looking forward to revisiting this place for a few meals and beer flights. Unfortunately, I discovered that it had suffered from a destructive fire (its Oct 2022) and was told it won't reopen until Spring 2023

I was doing an all day walk tour and this was one of many places recommended by the guide. I ordered their "award winning" meat pie with mash and I'm sorry to say it's not very good. I'm not familiar with meat pies but if the crust is supposed to be hard to cut through and the beef is supposed to be tough, then yeah, that's what it was. I so wanted to like it but I just didn't. I should've probably gotten their fish and chips. Although when I looked next to me there were three ladies who all ordered fish and chips, I noticed they cut through the fish several times and didn't really take any bite of it. Didn't order any beers even though they look to have a decent selection, not great but enough to get your jolly on. Service was good at least. This was on the main drag so might be a tourist trap.

Great ambiance. Food was lovely. But you're paying the tourist tax for the location. We had the Pie and Beer plate (3 small pies, 3 small ales) and another person in my party got the fish and chips. The sample plate was very good and was £21. I'd go there again if I was near Trafalgar Square.

Being my first time in London I didn't realize many places wouldn't serve lunch until 12-1230 at the earliest. This was looking like it might be an issue to visit my friends recommendation and make my flight on time. The hosts at The Admiralty greeted me enthusiastically and told me they'd do their best to accommodate - order with the bartender at 1130 and see if they could bring it right at 1200. I talked to the bartender to get my beer at 1120 and gave her a heads up/why I was in a rush. The picture below was taken at 1138. Really good minced meat pie but really impressed with the effort to accommodate me, A+ hospitality here.

Stayed in the same building on our recent trip to London. It's literally across the street from Trafalgar Square. We actually came here because they were rated one of the top fish and chip places, but we ended up coming back for a total of three times I think. Everything was great. Warm and hearty. We had pretty much all of the pies as well as the fish and chips, quite a bit of their beer and even some whisky. Everyone loved every molecule on the plate each time and we'll be back there when we re-visit London.

The Admiralty easily became one of our favorite pubs to go during our trip in London. This place was recommended to us by a local who is a self-proclaimed "pub snob". We figured it must be worth checking out. It's conveniently located in busy Trafalgar square. If you're staying in the Westminster area it's about a 10-20 minute walk away. I love the atmosphere in this pub. It's very laid back with a touch of sophistication. There are 3 floors. The main floor and bottom level are open seating "bar" areas. The top floor is restaurant seating. They have some great beers on draft as well as bottled from Fuller's brewery. You can't go wrong with the London Pride or Honey Dew Ale. I personally prefer porters and stouts. If you're like me, the London Porter is very good. I really like the Golden pride, but it is only available bottled. As for food you cannot go wrong with their pies! The menu changes seasonally, so just pick what looks good to you and you will not be disappointed. Overall, The Admiralty is an awesome pub with friendly staff, great service, tasty beers and food. Definitely recommend as a" must go" to spot!

First day in London and we needed lunch! This place hit the spot. Kids (9 and 13) had a burger, I had the meat pie, and my wife had fish and chips. All Classic London pub food, along with two pints, and it was all yummy. The place itself is lively and the Vibe is great! You can have sit down service downstairs (quieter) or grab a table up top like we did and order from the bar. Great meal!

The Admiralty is A-OK. Starving after walking nearly 10 miles all over London, my husband and I were looking for a hot meal. After seeking out two highly rated Yelp pubs (and finding them to be closed after walking several blocks), we were happy to just settle for this place. Was it great food? No, but it was tasty enough and reasonably priced for one of the most expensive cities in the world. The atmosphere is VERY loud and boisterous. We must've hit just as the after work crowd was piling in because the lower level pub was completely filled with people in work suits. It was obvious they were hanging out after work, so I'm guessing this must be a big hangout to let off some steam at night. The concrete floors and sweeping vaulted ceilings don't help with the noise. If you are looking for a dark, quiet and intimate night out, this is not the place. We were seated upstairs and had a great view of the cacophony below. It was fun entertainment with dinner! When in Great Britain, one must order a local dish and beer. One menu item immediately caught my eye as soon as I sat down, and I knew I had to order it. It was the Ale and Pie Sampler. I mean, come on! Three mini pies paired with three mini beers? SOLD! My husband ordered the fish and chips which were just okay. In fact, they seemed like quite the afterthought (especially the peas -- come on, peas are an important element to the dish). My pies were very tasty with a flaky pastry crust; hot and fresh. I enjoyed having a variety to taste. For the record, the spicy vegetarian pie (chickpea, tomato and squash) was my favorite! The beer pairings were great, and is something I wouldn't have done a la carte. The sampler gave me the opportunity to do so. Overall this was a decent meal at a decent price. I'm sure there are better pubs in London, but you could also do much, much worse than this place. If you go, order the ale and pie sampler!
