This AC is kind of like the two Air Conditioneds in West LA (Venice, Santa Monica) had a child. One is bigger with loud music, where people go to get wasted and dance, and the other is a quieter lounge-type place where you can't really dance without running into people, but it's a great place to sit and talk with friends. The San Diego AC is somewhere in between.
I wasn't really into the music that the DJ was spinning and there were a couple big birthday parties that took over the dance floor, but I thought that the ambiance was decent. There is a dance floor, a few standing tables, and a couple areas that I'm guessing are generally reserved for parties (one removed from the dance floor on the side and one right in the mix). With the size of the place and the layout, it didn't seem like this was the place to go if you wanted to get all dressed up and go "out out," but it was a fun place to grab a couple drinks and dance for a bit with your lady.
Outside of the actual bar and special areas, there is some space to sit on some benches near the wall, but it's not really a place to have a quiet drink and talk with friends. As the night goes on, it fills up!
Nothing too amazing, but I think it's a compromise that serves its purpose, which might be a confusing purpose because it is neither super dance club, nor chill lounge.
