My advice: Don't visit hungry. In the morning, they have two types of pre-made bagel sandwiches (bacon and egg, and sausage and egg), a few pastries and that's it. I ordered a sausage and egg bagel sandwich, and they went behind a curtain to fetch it. I guess they have bagel sandwiches in a warmer at the ready? In any case, The Alchemist isn't really a place to get a meal -- it's more of a coffee shop in the morning and bar in the evening. If you want to nosh, go elsewhere.
The lattes, though, are delicious and so pretty. I don't usually get lattes, or any kind of coffee drink that isn't black coffee. (Too many empty calories!) But I was feeling particularly footloose and fancy free, so an orange dark chocolate latte and a chai latte was procured. Both were great, and the orange dark chocolate latte was served with a nice, creamy heart design on top.
I visited on a nice day when the sun was out and the temps were high, so they opened the roll-up garage doors that line one whole side of the coffee shop. It was so relaxing to sit and enjoy a coffee while the fresh air streamed in.
Other things I noticed during my visit to The Alchemist: There's one non-gendered restroom, and it has menstrual products for people to use if they need them. There are many different seating arrangements here: couches, comfy chairs, big tables for groups, two-seater tables, four-seater tables. They have a designated parking lot, but there's also street parking.
I'll have to come back sometime in the evening when their menu switches to cocktails. The vibe at The Alchemist seems like it would be a good place to get a drink with a new person in your life who you want to impress.
