We made a family trip to Paso to get away for the weekend, pick up some wine from various wine clubs, and go out to dinner. While Alchemists' Garden seems to be famous for their cocktails, after having a big day of wine tasting, we elected to go with water and just get food.
The food overall was pretty good. The Pork Chop is what they are famous for and it was well flavored and tasty. The Tiger Prawns were also very good. We got the Corn Risotto which was OK, but not the best. The Duck Pasta was also good, but I would have liked more noodles.
Everything with the food was fine except the Pork Chop. As we started cutting it closer to the bone, the food started getting more rare / raw. As we got to the thicker part by the bone, it literally looked raw. We asked out waitress if this was normal and her first reaction was the it was. Then she came back 2 min later and said she would like to show it to the chef to make sure. The chef did say that it was undercooked, and said he would like to make it again.
By the point, we were a bit full, so didn't really want to eat another one. She did offer us a banana split for dessert, which was nice though. There was always room for dessert, and the the banana split was very good! Probably would have been better to just take the pork chop off the bill, but I didn't want to make a big deal about it.
Ambiance for the place is nice. It's in a good location and feels like an "Alchemists' Garden"
