14 Lively Portland Bars Where You Can Sing Karaoke

"A longtime Portland staple for tiki-drinking enthusiasts and the karaoke crowd, the Alibi opens the stage at 8 p.m. seven nights a week for one of the most spirited karaoke nights in town. One of the country’s oldest tiki bars, the Alibi’s menu is stacked with slushies, Jungle Birds, Zombies, and Mai Tais for liquid courage; groups can also opt for classic options like scorpion bowls. The food menu sticks to Hawaiian standbys like loco moco and kalua pork." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Portland Bars and Restaurants Slinging Frosty, Boozy Slushies This Summer

"The Alibi, one of the oldest operating tiki bars in the United States, serves greatest hits like hurricanes and mai tais, but the Interstate Avenue lounge always sells two standard slushies: A strawberry daiquiri and a piña colada, available swirled together or on their own. The piña colada comes with a dark rum float, which tempers some of the sweetness of the citrus and coconut." - Michelle Lopez, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"Everyone Needs an Alibi Portland's original tiki bar lives on. This NoPo classic lights up the night with gaudy neon on the outside and kitschy karaoke on the in. Dive bar would be elevating the Alibi. The decor hasn't changed since the fifties, and neither has some of the crowd. The draw isn't the umbrella drinks or the free buffet after midnight, it's the scene. On weekends the place is packed with competitive karaoke connoisseurs. Even if you wanted to get up on stage and bomb, you'd have to wait an hour or two. The performing inspires dancing on the stage and in the aisles as the crowd reaches the tipping point. The dark recesses of this icon are a perfect platform to conceal some secret rendezvous. It's all about see and be seen in stage area. Don't expect much in terms of service or extravagance on food and drink, prices are reflected in both. Do expect to drink too much, step up to the mike, stay late for grazing at the buffet, and have a great time in a stuck-in-the-'50s, Portland party environment."

This is an awesome divey tiki bar. The drinks are good, the food is tasty, and the vibes cannot be beat. The karaoke is fun and usually very busy, but everyone is into it and it doesn't feel forced the way some karaoke does. Absolutely recommend going here for a late night stop.

Wonderful tiki bar that takes you into another 🏝️ place when you're in there. Low lighting, fish tank and terrific food 😋.They do karaoke 8 pm to 2 I believe but be warned on 🎤 karaoke night it can get a little crazy no space to move. If you go during the day it's a completely different experience so relaxing 😌

Google
Honestly one of my favorite bars in Portland. The vibe eats every time I come here. The bartenders are always to nice even when it’s busy. I come here at least 3 times a month & I’m still always down to come back again every single time. Y’all might just need a few drinks (my fav is the pina colada slushie) & karaoke is the move. Also, they got a photo-booth that gives you physical photos (my favorite).

Love this place! When you have nothing else to do on an evening you can always count on this place! Drinks are delicious! The food is good. Bar service is fast, food service can be slow. Always people having a good time. Which also means there’s always too drunk men around to hit on you 🙄 but can’t help that really. Stall bathrooms for men and women and one anyone bathroom. Patio area, a few lottery machines, and a Photo Booth. 2 bars Only complaint is the water station is back behind where the people singing are, and there can be a crowd around that area.

Mixed emotions. This is my first time because I came from Houston for a conference and we are having karaoke night tonight. A few minutes ago a colleague and I raised our eyebrows when the DJ (dressed like Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean) told someone from our group who was about to join in on a song with a friend, "hey buddy, have a seat I have 40 singers lined up and you already had your turn!" 🤯🤯🤯😡😡 The essence of karaoke is 'the more the more the merrier,' but he absolutely made a crazy impression with that rude commentary. So disappointed. Add to that, I got here early at 9 and submitted my name to participate but it's ow 1010 I still haven't been called even though others who came much later have already had their turn. 🤯🤯🤷🏽‍♀️👎🏽

Google
I went this past Saturday. Dude this place is a riot. Drinks were on point, love the Shark Attack , bartenders were fast and friendly Some highlights was a guy losing his sh** to Living La Vida Loca And then some chick killed it on some CRAZY Eminem song; it was hilarious and haven't laughed that hard in forever A great performance of Creep by a girl with a cool tomato hat I can't wait to come back when I get a weekend off

Google
So you like Tiki? Do you like karaoke? Then this is your place. Awesome atmosphere and a fun crowd the night we were there. Pina Colada was maybe the smallest one I've ever had but it was very tasty so not complaining too much. The tiki decor is off the hook so this place is definitely worth your time.

Eric “Van” VanVelzen

Google
The second oldest tiki bar in the United States and well worth the trip to visit. Amazing decor, many of which are legitimate antiques. Outstanding food and drink menu. Try the kalbi beef ribs, they are some of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Those who know me know I LOVE tiki bars! They hold a nostalgia place in my heart, as I remember when they were at their heyday of popularity back in the 70's. And I think this is my new fave PDX lounge! I love Hale Pele but this Alibi bar feels more....authentic (if there's such a thing as authenticity when describing campy Polynesian lounge bars in 2024 and located in the Pacific Northwest lol). This Alibi restaurant has all the trappings of the places I remember from the 70's, down to the exterior signage and huge neon lighting. (I love, too, that it has a large, free, dedicated parking lot. Bonus!). The interior is huge, but divided into separate sections, so it feels intimate wherever you're sitting. There are rounded and semi-circular booths, lots of diner-like seats and booths along the walls, upholstered in padded vinyl (some with small rips in them. Just like I remember, back in the day!). Cool little niches. Tiki decor (i.e., straw finishes, treelike canopies, small "pond"/fountain/pool, two bar counter areas (and the bartended is awesome nice, too), lots of wooden tree-like wall finishes..... Think Gilligan's Island-beachy vibe. It practically makes you forget about the cold, gray, rainy weather outside. There are some arcade games against the wall behind the main bar, and a separate room to the left rear with a stage and lots of seating for karaoke. We didn't have any food here, but we had drinks and they were fantastic! I had a "Banana Hammock" and it was delicious. My kid had a "Leilani Volcano" and we tried it and it, too, was delicious. And her partner ordered a "Shark Attack" and he really liked it. So all our drinks were a big hit. I'm already looking forward to returning here on my next visit to Portland!

Yelp
I honestly am not sure why I gave it four before. This place was one of the most solid spots on our entire trip and loved that the bartender helped me out when I was zero proof earlier this year with a fantastic nearly NA (bitters only) Painkiller. Decor is awesome inside. And the drink was flat out delicious. If you're in Portland, give this guy a go. And def jump in for Sat night karaoke.

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Love this place! Bartenders and karaoke DJ's are awesome... Karaoke runs all week, but there is a separate bar for those who don't care for that scene. I haven't eaten much there, but from what I have had is really good. Waffle Fries were awesome. And the themed drinks are fun as well.
google avatar

Emily F.

Yelp
The best tiki drinks around! The vibe is amazing and transports you far from the cold of the PNW! Usually a long wait and not a lot of space to wait indoors so bring a coat! They will let you order drinks while you wait though.

Yelp
I'm finally getting around to writing reviews for some of my favorite old-school places in Portland. There are few businesses in the Rose City that are as iconic as the Alibi Tiki Lounge. In fact, it's such an important fixture in the tableau of weird and wonderful Portland, I'd suggest visiting at least once... regardless of what you read or hear from others. The kitsch is off the charts before you even walk through the door. One of my favorite things about this area are the historic neon signs that line Interstate avenue. At one time, Interstate was the primary route between Portland and Seattle. So it makes sense this stretch of the road is dotted with old school diners, motels and service stations. Do me a favor and visit at night so you can see the fabulous neon at Alibi and surrounding businesses in all their glory! Once inside, be sure to wander around and explore all the nooks and crannies in the lounge. The building is designed to provide lots of private booths and seating areas. My favorite tables and booths are in the circular elevated area immediately to the right of the entrance. Whimsical lighting, mirrors galore, and red tufted leather booths help set the tone. There's limited seating at the bar itself, but you'll find an area reserved for karaoke in the back, as well as plenty of outdoor seating. The menu boasts an impressive array of classic and inventive tiki cocktails served in kitschy mugs and embellished with tropical fruit, orchids and umbrellas. There is a wide variety of drinks available, but be sure to try one of their shareable "bowl" drinks, often arriving at the table engulfed in flames. I've honestly not eaten much from the food menu, despite many visits over the years. Their burger is bland, the fries are salty, and the nachos taste like cafeteria nachos. I've heard good things about the Pu Pu Platter, but do we really come here for the food? Please defer to other reviewers for an accurate recommendation. Megan G, an Elite reviewer from Sammamish, WA recommends the wings. I'll try those next time! Alibi Tiki Lounge is a delightful escape from the ordinary. It's a must-see attraction for tiki enthusiasts, and lovers of Portland history. Remember to drink responsibly and share your review here so others can learn about this fun and quirky place.

Yelp
I walked in, and on this 97 degree day, the Alibi is a perfect sanctuary. At one point I asked for the best place to read and they recommended the patio. I finally found it (so many doors!) and was hit by the heat and lack of Alibi-ness. I am here for the Mercury Slushie week drink, because, hello?! it's blue!! My slushie is too delicious. And my table is good. I texted a friend and she wrote back about how the carpeting freaks her out. I hadn't noticed, but now that she mentioned it I can't stop thinking about how gnarly it is. I reassured her that I am in the wood floor area, but have noticed my feet sticking to the floor. Leaning back, after a few minutes resting my arms on the table, they, too stuck. Still, this place is magical enough to be worth it. Also, special notice for the playlist. Blondie now, Gary Newman before. Ooh! Now it's Prince!

Yelp
Heard about this establishment for a long time and finally got a chance to visit. Glad to report that it's as awesome as everybody says! I love the ambience and decor both inside and outside. You can't miss it from the interstate with the flashing bright sign. Inside was dim and cozy with Hawaiian arts and decors. Staffs were also A+, very friendly and hardworking. Their drinks were delicious! I tried the Zombie and was a big fan of its cinnamon-y profile. Their food was also honestly pretty decent. Everything was made fresh. Great portion and price as well. Their Waffle Fries were soso crispy. And, of course, the karaoke area was popping. So many great singers frequent the spot. It'd be fun to just come grab a drink and listen to other people as well. If you want to sing though, get your name in early. Totally would be back!

Yelp
The alibi is one of the places I think of when I think of Portland Oregon. It's cleaner and smells better than it did a decade ago - not sure how the smell changed but I'm guessing a vent cleaning when they changed owners a few years back. I love this place. Fried food! Big drinks! Singers love it cuz it's just the best stage in Portland and it's open every night. Karaoke addicts paradise
google avatar

Fiona D.

Yelp
Whitney is the coolest bartender on the planet. the most attentive and kind and cool. they legit noticed we weren't happy with the amount we paid and made sure to make sure we were happy comfortable. they mixed our drinks perfectly and tasted lovely
google avatar

Ed P.

Yelp
The Alibi Tiki Lounge is well decorated and has good drinks. It is a larger tiki bar so it can accommodate larger groups. There is no table service so you order at the bar and then grab a seat. At 8 o'clock, they have karaoke going on in the back bar. But if that's not your scene, then they also have a patio area and a front bar.

Yelp
I wanted to check out this historic Tiki bar because my fiancé and I love tiki stuff! Alibi definitely has the old school, original tiki vibe. Unfortunately it was super dark in there and everything was sticky ... they also had the back half of the seating area closed off. I assume this is where they do karaoke later in the night but I went earlier. It would have been cool to be able to see the rest of the bar. The drinks were ok and pretty strong. I normally love sweet tiki drinks but these weren't my favorite. I had a banana hammock, which was too syrupy sweet for me. The Miami vice was good! My fiancé had a mai tai and wasn't super impressed. Definitely worth visiting but Hale Pale is a much cooler experience and way better drinks.

Yelp
I've been coming to The Alibi for a while now, and every time I sit at the bar, Adria absolutely makes the night. She has that perfect bartender vibe--friendly, funny, and she just knows her stuff. She always knows the vibe, and even when it's busy, she still finds a way to keep things fun and easygoing. Plus, her energy is infectious, and she genuinely makes you feel like you're a friend, not just another customer. If you're lucky enough to catch Adria behind the bar, you're in good hands.

Yelp
Life can be a real bastard. And Portland bartenders do a great job of keeping that sentiment alive. Nathan stands in exception of that feeling. Listen, I've been in this business for nearly 20 years. Catering to the every whim of PDX ilk is a huge harsh to any mellow. But Nathan, David, and Cisco? ANGELS. I sidled up to the door, tired, fed up, and spicy. I was greeted immediately by Cisco at the door, kindly and with a gentle smile. Inside, Nathan hosted myself and my partner with such hospitality and friendship, a true delight. Checking in an on us, he made every effort to welcome our desires. I will be returning primarily for the warmth I felt tonight. Drinks perfectly balanced, and the energy of these gentlemen. Thank you!

Yelp
If you love urself a TIKI bar this is a good option!! May not be up to everyone's standards but definitely tiki lounge vibes!!! Great mixture of people and talent....! Yes talented karaoke vibes here so don't sleep on this one y'all!! Did I mention super booozy cocktails!!! Walk or take an Uber or Lyft is highly recommended and being open mind to chill and have fun!!
google avatar

Monalisa H.

Yelp
It's one of those rare bars that you can trust will make a great cocktail with awesome vibes. We came here for karaoke, and the karaoke was fun, and the food was just okay. Come back soon.
google avatar

Amanda M.

Yelp
Very tiki style from the 70s they have great video machines where you can win money a little dark but it hides the ugly and weird when you need it to be not seen great food. Also don't miss out on the alibi. Enjoy your time and the service there is excellent.

Ryan Marc S.

Yelp
I came here from out of town for a business trip, as I was looking for the closest bar from where I am staying. I found the Alibi, the bartender Kao tended to my every order, and the drinks he made were delicious. Just how I like my Tiki drinks.
google avatar

Liesl S.

Yelp
I have to say, just meh. It's a dive bar with clearly a huge karaoke following pretending to be a tiki bar. The cocktails are not well balanced, and fairly weak, perhaps because in true Don the Beachcomber style, the bartender is more like a "stuff pour-er" from bottles under the counter labeled with an office p-tab style label maker. They were not created on the spot, nor did they have much flair (though props on the pink flamingo garnish picks). The food felt a little like defrosted prepackaged from a cheap Asian grocery store. I'd save my calories & moolah for somewhere more legit, or just better. Also. Huge tripping hazards abound in this old, remodeled once too many times building. I nearly died several times while sober, shortly after getting there because of the weird elevation changes & unmarked steps...
google avatar

Dana R.

Yelp
We love a good tiki bar. And this was a good tiki bar. It's got all the drinks, all the kitsch, and all the great service that you want. The appetizers were tasty (although they were all super fried, so maybe that's why I loved them so much?!), and when there was a teeny tiny delay getting food this cool guy ran over from the kitchen to so sweetly apologize and he even let us choose an extra app. This is a pretty large place, inside and outside seating (although who wants to go to a tiki bar to sit in a parking lot?), with plenty of parking in the lot. There was karaoke happening in one room, so if you don't like that, just sit in the other room. :)
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Cool tiki bar! The inside is really cool. They had good drinks, I had a coconut drink. Looks like they have karaoke there, definitely busy for that. We didn't have food but it seemed more like a place you would grab a snack, not go for dinner. Definitely worth a stop for drinks!
google avatar

K L.

Yelp
Teriyaki chicken was tender (bomb af in the words of my friend), rice was good but not as fluffy as i would like, Mac salad was creamy. Leilani volcano was not too strong and good if you prefer a sweeter drink with pineapple. Rain drink tasted like an alcoholic lemonade. Hurricane according to other friends said that it was a strong drink coming from someone who drinks 6% alcohol.Pina colada reminded me of haagen haas ice cream rum raisin flavor probably because of the rum. I liked the smooth consistency. Also the worker running tables was nice and let me know my phone dropped on the floor from my pocket wherei was sitting so yay thank you! The ambiance is nice dark with lights and tiki themed, i liked listening to people sing their lil hearts out since its a karaoke bar
google avatar

Sandy Y.

Yelp
A fun bar/karaoke spot! It can get pretty crowded and tough to grab a table... but people keep coming and going through the night so if you're persistent, you'll be able to find a spot. And if you're lucky... you'll be seated riiiight up at the front where karaoke is. If your plan is to sing, you better get your name on the list ASAP. It took our friends 1+ hours before it was their turn. People sing a whole variety of songs here, from Kelly Clarkson to Les Miserables! You'll stay entertained for sure.
google avatar

Tori And Gavin L.

Yelp
Great place! Lots of space inside, the theme is so fun, the staff were all friendly. They have a parking lot, good prices, and some yummy food on the menu (we'll have to go back and try it). We went to watch karaoke, our group got a drink bowl and tried the slushies, too. Super fun all around!
google avatar

Ali N.

Yelp
They are a bit snobby I think. The drinks are well made. The bouncers, at least the ones I had a couple years ago encountered with, are gruff and stupid. They try to dissuade men from meeting women apparently. It is a solid karaoke venue, however, if you need to belt one out on a reliable basis.
google avatar

Dale A.

Yelp
Came with a couple of friends and was able to get a table close to stage. It was a Monday evening and the bar was a bit backed up but we eventually were served. The singers were amazing as was the KJ. Will def be coming back but now know to order drinks before we sit!
google avatar

Waylette T.

Yelp
Yoooo, I ate at this place on a Thursday night when randomly popping up at karaoke with my friend. Babbbbyyyyy I am not a bar food girl HOWEVER, they win me over. The bartender is such a doll, i enjoyed our conversation. The foooooodd tho, get into it
google avatar

Yelp
Came on a Saturday night with friends. Arrived around 10-ish. The crowd wasn't too skinny and the crowd was definitely more caucasian, low energy vibes and song choices were questionable, but that's not Alibi's fault. Had it been a little more lively, it would be a better start. Through the night and shots, the place started filling up quickly. Esp, with a Santa crawl happening. The crowd was well-intentioned and just wanted to have fun. The song choices started to improve into the more fun, high-energy karaoke vibe so we ended up having a great time. Get your song cues in early, as a duet was behind 30 spots. If you have your reliable fun group, you can definitely have a great time here. It's about the people you surround yourself with anyways right? The later crowd was out for a good time. Some of the bills from bar orders were definitely a shocker --- in a good way. Shelf liquor was a great price which made it a great choice for a night out with friends. The audio can definitely improve, but that's up to Alibi to upgrade their system. I'd definitely return back. Great spot in addition to the Portland vibe.

Marshall M.

Yelp
Lots of fun, free spirits, cool people and fun karaoke. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Very wide age range of customers and fun atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.Great place to take your friends.
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
Definitely a fun party ambiance, raucous with karaoke that the whole crowd was into! Tiki drinks were just ok and had a gritty/grungy feel compared to hale pele tiki bar. Stood at the bar and had a great time singing along over a drink. No idea what the non-karaoke night music is like. Some old school signage and black-lit hula girls, some thatching and bamboo and tiki lamps for dark ambiance. Full house but no line to gain entry.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
Original tiki bar (opened in 1947) meets dive bar (dark and dingy) meets karaoke (every night starting at 8pm), the Alibi is a platypus of the tiki world and I love it. Had many drinks there including a scorpion bowl, a zombie and lelani, and while the bar tenders will tell you to take it easy, they aren't too strong, but they are all tasty. The front is all original tiki bar vibes, though not the music. Not that the music is bad just not tropical 1940s/50s so that may throw you like it did me. In the back is the karaoke and get there early if you wnat a good seat and plan to stay a while. Typical level of talent, but by the time we left everyone was up and dancing. A good time was being had by all. If karaoke isn't your thing you can't hear it if you sit up front - basically options abound for how you want to spend your time here. Food was hit and miss. Wings were excellent. Pulled pork was meh. Lots of people ordered the burger and waffle fries so maybe give that a try over the pulled pork. They also do sell their Mai tai glasses and this year they have a 75th anniversary mug from muntiki ($45). Other than that we did see tiki mugs but most drinks were being served in regular glasses. So sad. The reason they don't get 5 stars 8s the video poker games. Those should have no place in any respectable tiki bar. If you can ignore those, then you're in for a good night.

Aimee S.

Yelp
Today is my son's 21st birthday and as any good parent does, they buy their kid their first drink. It was fun and funky!! The perfect place to take some foe their first drink ( that's his story and he's sticking to it!) The food was good, and we got our food fast. Overall really fun, we'll come again.

Ember B.

Yelp
Cheap food, good karaoke and vibes. If you're looking for a tiki bar, this is the one.
google avatar

Murphy O.

Yelp
Luckily I've always got an alibi handy for Sundays, I was at the all day happy hour drinking tiki drinks of course. Luxuriating in the comfy booths, bathing in the cool lighting and decor.
google avatar

Yelp
Love the devor! Been around since 1947!!!!Great drinks, had the Hurricane and Leilani Volcano, and tasty happy hour Mochiko Chicken! Very nice and friendly bartender, enjoyed talking about our fav scary movies!!
google avatar

Alexa A.

Yelp
A solid tiki bar. Line was long because there was only one person behind the counter, but drinks were still very strong. I love the indoor decor--very dark but filled with palm trees and tiki lamps! Service was great, staff was friendly :) it's a great stop to make if you're looking for something a little out of the norm in the Portland area.

Corey C.

Yelp
Great place for drinks, food and karaoke. All the bartenders are amazing here. Nathan is awesome!! Walking in after a late shift is and seeing him behind the bar is always a good feeling since I know I'll be treated with the best hospitality and good conversation . He's friendly, quick and an overall joy!

Laura T.

Yelp
The atmosphere was a little dark to read the menu, but burgers were great and the waffle fries are awesome.

Yelp
This review is strictly about karaoke. I'll leave the food to others and description of the physical layout and ambience of the room where karaoke is held to others ... adding with respect to the last part that it's great! I'm a KJ and a karaoke junky. I've been to approximately 40 karaoke bars so far, finding them on Yelp when I travel. The critical essentials for good karaoke are song collection, sound system, personable KJ, good mixing, good mics, a comfortable place to sing from and a receptive and responsive audience. Many places have several of these, but seldom all. It's often just a bar with a KJ in the corner and the singer placed awkwardly in the room full of people talking loud and playing with their phones or watching sports on TVs. Nothing necessarily wrong with that ... but it's not good karaoke. In my experience and including places I've worked as a KJ the Alibi Tiki Lounge is hands down the best karaoke bar I've ever visited. People are there to sing and the audience is there to listen. Staff is friendly and the venue is, I dare say, 'cozy.' I've been there 5 time on trips to Portland over the years and I always look forward to going back. For karaoke, 5 stars isn't enough.

Yelp
Ambience is great Would highly recommend this place. Karioke nights are the best here

Yelp
Escape the City into a Tiki land. One of Portland's gems, good food and good people are here.

Ross W.

Yelp
I love the Tiki dive bar atmosphere. I'm a retired old guy living in Baja California Mexico, the quintessential dive bar territory. I know my friendly dive bar karaoke spots and this fits the definition perfectly. Great sound system and friendly staff. A very mixed very friendly crowd of old and young, all ethnicities and orientations, just as it should be. Strong fair priced drinks to boot. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Food was cold and disgusting. Took a look behind the bar and it was filthy, bathroom had no toilet paper and smelt of urine. Was charged $18 for 1 tiki drink then cut off because I was "drunk". Bartenders where rude, security was ultra-aggressive towards my wife. Marcus Archambeault owns 5 other bars in town, he cant even take care of this one ! Greedy. Pays employees $14.75. shame.

Josh k.

Yelp
Went with a group of friends this weekend for the first time. This is a longtime portland staple, I've just never stopped by even though I've always wanted to go. We all had a good time, the tiki experience certainly delivered. We went mid-day and each of us got separate drinks, basically going through the entire menu. As is typical, the tiki drinks are stiff and not too expensive considering the alcohol content but would've loved some discount drink prices during happy hour. The interior is fun, looks great for how old it is. Only one bartender so service was definitely slow and she didn't seem overly thrilled to be there, which was the only downside.

Yelp
Food is good. The service was pretty good. The ambiance was straight up funny but good as well

Baylee B.

Yelp
The drinks were horrible, I order a shark attack and the drink came out brown.... Bartender was rude.

Yelp
Food was the worst I've had in 5 years. Drinks were at best mediocre. Decor had some charm but most of it felt like it hasn't been updated since the 70s. The whole thing cost an arm and a leg to boot. Service was good enough.

Yelp
What kind of place demands 20% tip? Bartender checking ID's at the front was annoyingly rude. Looked like Danny McBride and threatened bad service for not leaving a big enough tip for him. Wouldn't hand me my drinks until he was done explaining the 20% minimum tip expectation and calling me cheap. Asked if he did something wrong to deserve such a low tip. We barely sat down and hadn't even opened a tab yet so I was caught off guard by his confrontational attitude. I tip on the way out depending on service but when he's not giving you your drinks and lecturing you in front of people because he didn't get $20 for pouring a few drinks I had to write a review of this place. The Alibi is no longer what it was, we finished our drinks and went to a place that didn't include burnt chicken and rude service. Hope you enjoyed ripping me off and wasting 5 minutes explaining why your worth 20%.

Yelp
Five stars for atmosphere and better than decent food. Bartender was fast and friendly although the Mai Tai was more ice than drink. Ordered a number of happy hour food items with the highlight being the generous chicken wings. The coconut shrimp was good and the potstickers were decent. My wife's Hawaiian plate was good as well. But that atmosphere!! Can't be found anywhere else in Portland.
