On the Grid : The Abbey Burger Bistro

"Opening as early as 7 a.m. for Arsenal games, this burger joint is far from average. Abbey Burger Bistro is famous for its selection of exotic meats, a cozy and inviting atmosphere and a crazy-big collection of craft beers—a rare find among the college-esque establishments it's surrounded by. And don't forget to try the nacho fries or an adult milkshake that will sneak up on you—in a good way." - Planit

Where to Eat Before a Football Game in Baltimore - Eater DC

"Lauded by many as one of the best burger joints, the Abbey boasts an impressive selection of ingredients and toppings. In addition to the usual beef burger, there are burgers made with duck, shrimp, lamb and bison. Peanut butter and bacon, kimchi and raspberry sauce are among the more unusual toppings." - Julekha Dash

Google
No frills burger spot. Servers were nice and attentive and food was great! We each ordered a fully customizable sandwich. I got a burger and the wife got a chicken sandwich. Chicken was moist and crispy and the burger was cooked perfectly to temp, which is RARE these days! Tots were great but skip the onion rings. Rings were very thick and doughy to the point of undercooked. Beer was cold and they had a good variety on draft.

I love the build your own burger option. They also have a selection of exotic meats. Wild Boar, Bison, Water Buffalo. On top of all this, the burgers are very good. The tater tots with crab sauce are excellent. Overall interesting experience and really nice meal.

04/17/2022 EDIT: We stopped by here again since we were in the neighborhood and to give it a second chance. I only ordered sides, whe my fiance order the Baltimore Burger. The 911 sauce wings were crispy and hot. The fries were also hot and well seasoned! My fiance said his burger was on the heavy side so don't order it unless you're starving! I will still give it 4 stars, customer service was great, but the service is kinda slow even though only one other customer was there. EDIT: I've updated my review from 3 stars to 4 stars for excellent customer service. I contacted the manager and we were able to sort things out. I will be back soon to give them another try. Our burgers came out kind of cold and the duck wasn't anything special and dry.

Google
They have wonderful burgers - as a vegan I’m often limited to black bean or mushroom burgers but Abbeys has the beyond/impossible option as well as the veggie burger and it’s a true treat. We went on Halloween and it was crowded but service was quick and efficient and the pretty young serveuse with blue eyes would check on us and other patrons regularly to make sure things were alright, sadly they were out of Guinness on tap so will be back for that soon. Strongly recommend

I don't know if our experience was unique or if the whole restaurant was having an off night, but I did not have a great meal here. We visited on a Thursday and from start-to-finish the service was disconnected. They seem to split responsibilities so you can only order food and drink from separate people. That makes it difficult to put drink orders in because the bar staff did not visit tables much after the other server took our food order. We also struggled to get our check after asking for it from multiple people. I ended up having to awkwardly stand by the bar after ~20 min and begging ANOTHER person for help because we were really desperate to get out of there. In terms of the food, my husband and I both got burgers that had a smoked element. They were both way on the sweet side, with the smokiness overpowered everything else. I don't know if Abbey burger legitimately smokes stuff or if they use liquid smoke, but neither of us could stand to finish our burgers. The other diner with us got the Baltimore burger and expressed that it was fine. At our table, we also tried the alligator bites, which were unassuming but fine. Between the 3 of us, we also tried the house-made chips, the onion rings ($3 upcharge), and the waffle fries ($4 upcharge). The chips were pretty burnt/bitter and didn't even have much seasoning. We threw salt on them, but didn't really stick since they were cooled. Didn't finish them. The onion rings were fine, but the coating reminded me of pancake batter from the sweetness of it. The waffle fries were rock-hard. 🪨🤦‍♀️ Not sure if they were old fries that were re-fried or if they just sat in the oil for a long time. They weren't warm, so I assume they'd been lying around dying somewhere. (Did I mention they were an extra $4??) Credit I can give to the staff is that they re-fired the waffle fries no problem. New batch tasted fine, albeit it still lacked seasoning. I guess the kitchen isn't big on salt? 🤷‍♀️ They're getting 2 stars out of me only for the fact that 1/3 burgers was ok + alligator bites were palatable. I would neither recommend nor return Abbey Burger since food and service were all disappointing.

Google
First time trying the federal hill location, but there just as good as there fells point point counterpart. There burgers aren't the largest but when it comes the flavor & sheer veriety they're unmatched. (I mean honestly where else are you going to get a camel burger)

Google
The food was great with some awesome build-your-own burger options. The tots covered in can dip were delicious too! What really made the visit though, was the staff. Steven, Katie, and Mary made the night for us. Steven is definitely the life of the party and invested in making sure all the patrons were having a blast. My brother said it was the best birthday dinner he'd had in years.

This was my first time and I have a wonderful time! The staff was friendly, Music was enjoyable and food was delicious! I had the alligator bites , loaded waffles and Kobe Burger. It was so good!!!! We ended up singing and having a wonderful evening. Check them out.

Yelp
Amazing beer list! Super knowledgeable about supporting allergy safety. So fun to fill out the make your own burger checklist. Tater tots were so crispy.

Yelp
This spot has a nice variety of "exotic" meat burgers. And, they also have fried gator bites which I had for the first time. Can you say DELICIOUS?! The service for a neighborhood bistro was very welcoming. The staff did a great job making recommendations -- they know their menu and provide detailed recommendations based on your preferences. At least this was my experience. If you're a burger person and want to try something a bit different the norm -- check this spot out! It's typical of your Baltimore pub/tavern if you are curious about ambiance. And -- the bathrooms are well kept. (This too is important!) Five stars because I was pleased and can't think of one thing to mention as capable of doing better. Kudos!

Yelp
IMPORTANT DETAILS GOOD: Friendly service, atmosphere, and waffle fry nachos BAD: Food execution Notes - appetizers and entrees cost almost the same - fair warning, nachos feeds 3 I was eager to revisit ABB since a date 6 years ago. The atmosphere is old tavern cool, and the bar keep is friendly (super-chatty)(good way). The problem was I didn't hard space out the appetizer from the burger. Twenty-five minutes went by and the nachos AND burger came out together. From there it was a sad choice of which would get luke warm first. The nachos were excellent - taste as good as they look. The peanut butter burger sounds great in theory, but in practice, it's a dry exercise in chewing. Combine overcooked thick beef, with undiluted pb, and bacon crisp (oil gone), it was a slow chewing adventure. I brought most of it home. The burger needs a savory sauce that thins out and compliments the pb. I don't eat rare hamburger so the overcook to medium-well/well didn't help. (I ordered medium). I would give ABB a try. It's a fun place. Bring friends if you get an app, and only order your entree after the appetizer comes out.

Yelp
A year ago I would have rated this place 5 stars. It was one of my favorite restaurants for years. The burgers are still good, but the ambiance, service and beer have really changed for the worse. I've been three times in the past 6 months all of which were disappointing, but we kept going hoping it was just a fluke or a transition period they had to work through. Each time they only had 3 beers on tap and any beer you got not on tap was warm and tasted old. I do still enjoy their burgers and sweet potato fries. I enjoy doing the make your own burger. It is pricey for a burger. I'd say an average of 15 dollars and another 3 if you want fries. The food used to be worth it because of the diverse and fun beer list and ambiance. Now the service is lacking and there is loud repetitive electronic club music constantly playing.

Yelp
BLUF - Abbey Burger offers a great selection of burgers that ranges from more traditional burgers to less traditional menu offerings like alligator meatballs and bison burgers. Their burgers are made well and they also offer a huge array of topping customizations. I wish they had a larger selection of beer on draft, but they also carry a large amount in bottles/cans to choose from. Overall, one of my favorite spots to grab a burger in the DMV area. Details - Abbey Burger has always been a reliable place for a good burger and a drink in the DMV area. I heard there's been a change in management, but I haven't yet seen the quality of food go down noticeably as a result of it. They have a bunch of options for appetizers - mini crab cakes, alligator meatballs, wings, just to name a few. They also have pre-made burger combinations to choose from or they give you a piece of paper, sushi-order style, to build your own (just a warning - the cost of the toppings can add up pretty quickly). Their sides are crispy and tasty and not just an afterthought. Their dessert items are great if you have room in your belly for it, which I often don't because their portions are not on the small side. Overall, I wish the cost of the burgers were a tad lower (prices range usually from 14-18 bucks depending on your topping choices), but you do get quality for your money. Solid spot and would definitely recommend if you love burgers.

Yelp
The food was very good. The service was not. We were brought menus and drinks quickly and then forgotten about. It's a build your own bigger and we did and had to wave to our waitress at the bar laughing and talking with other coworkers. Our food was brought out by someone else. We had to get up from table and walk to the bar to ask for napkins. We had none. When we were ready for our check, we waited, and our waitress was laughing and talking with coworkers and others and pulled out her phone and answered the phone call,. We had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for our check. Never an apology. I watched a single man come and sit at a table and wait, and no one ever waited on him because they were busy laughing and talking, and he got up and walked out, and they never noticed because they were in their own world. We had to get up and ask for our check. The ambiance was fine, however the speaker playing music by our table was so loud we turned the speaker away from us. I did leave a very tiny tip, and would have rather given it to the chef. The food was good. The service was not.

Yelp
*My review is for a delivery order. I am gluten free (celiac disease), and ordered a burger with a gluten free bun - I also specified in the notes to make sure it was gluten free. When the burger arrived, the bun looked too good to be true - so I compared to other photos on Yelp and lo and behold, it was a pretzel bun. For someone with a disease, this was sad/concerning - of course, I understand mistakes happen. But perhaps not everyone would have cross referenced the photos on Yelp and spent time examining the bun photos lol. Was also hungry still!! :( Honestly, I will probably give this place another shot in person, but wouldn't want to risk delivery again.

Yelp
I ordered take out and can sum my food up in 3 words. Yum, Yum, Yum!! The fried green tomatoes were awesome! The Cherrywood Burger was great and the homemade chips took it to another level. The ordering process = very easy. The staff = helpful and super friendly. Thank you for a wonderful meal!

Yelp
Lots of potential. There were only two people working, so I don't know what it's like when they are fully staffed. Food was mid - not bad, not awesome. With only two people working, service was strained.

Yelp
Such an awesome spot! The burgers are super delicious and huge and the ambiance is awesome! I got the crispy chicken sandwich and it hit the spot! They were generous with the hot honey, pickles, and they didn't forget to add tomato at my request. The waffle fries nachos were such a hit. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is a mixed review. We went to watch Arsenal. Good place for that. Food was good, no complaints. Bison burger, tots, veggie burger and a chicken nuggets. It is a burger bar restaurant with a big bar. Second time there, first time was okay. The downstairs barbacks were poor. It was a little busy not bad though. In the first half, we saw them do four shots with guests at end of the bar. Not paying attention to others. They put in three simple orders for our table three separate times and each one wrong. So three wrong for three, including adding cheese to a burger for someone with an allergy. The server said well your order says cheese so you must have ordered cheese. I will mark it to a bad day for them but,

Yelp
First and foremost, I have no idea why this place has four stars. It was recommended and one of the best burger joints in Baltimore... NOPE! I ordered my burger medium, and it came well, no flavor on the patty, like none, no seasoning and dry as can be, I do not recommend this place as a burger joint. Pass on it . Didn't even eat half the burger, wasted my money. The fried pickles were good, but it's hard to mess that up and the tots were good, again hard to mess that up.

Yelp
We visited here on yesterday for burgers and shakes supposedly but the shake machine was broken. Customer service: On a Saturday it was busy but business was extremely slow. We didn't see a waiter once the food was dropped off. We had to flag someone down for our check. Food: I love how you can build your own burger here which is great. I ordered the lamb burger with tots and the cider. It was good and messy which was fine. Sports: its a great place to watch sports. There are tvs every where and different game on every screen..
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
I was there for the first time I had a build your own burger with bison, provolone cheese, sautéed mushrooms, and onions with bacon and an egg. I had that sandwich for lunch, and I haven't eaten again for the whole rest of the day. It filled me up very good.

Yelp
Stopped in for a solo lunch recently. Only a couple tables were occupied so it was easy to find seating and service was pretty quick. I've walked by during the evening and have seen this place packed so I know it happens. They have burger ordering sheets so you can specify your ingredients. I love these kinds of systems because they usually leave very little room for error. I opted for a turkey burger with Gouda, caramelized onions and lots of pickles. Was cooked well and devoured shortly after being placed on the table. Fries were good too. Would return for lunch anytime.

Yelp
The burgers here are great and really yummy. But this is the 2nd time I've ordered food to go and it's missing an extra I paid for. Last time, my food was missing my extra $$ side which was waffle fries. Tonight, my food was missing crab dip which was also extra $$$. It's annoying to not be able to trust their to go orders that they staple closed. Sucks because their food (burgers) are good.

Yelp
We were in town for a wedding and of course I had our meals all planned out. Of course we had to try Abbey Burger Bistro! Even though it was freezing and snowing in March we made the trek for lunch! We started with a couple beers and an order of MD Style Crab Dip! It was very delish! I ordered the Southwest Bison Burger with no jalapeños because I'm a sissy when it comes to spice! Meanwhile my husband ordered the Diablo Burger because he likes alllll the spice and flavor! We enjoyed stop for a yummy burger!

A S.

Yelp
Man, Abbey has fallen far. This used to be a go-to place for us. The quality of the food, accuracy of orders, and service have plummeted. We don't go here, anymore.

cheryl m.

Yelp
We went yesterday before the ravens afc championship. Of course they were rocking! We went upstairs 4 of us to grab drinks and some food. We were at the bar to grab a drink and see if seats came open, Justin the manager, came over and said hi he was gonna look for us a place and then he took the table next to us that had the speaker on it turned it around removed the speaker and set us up right there on the spot! He introduced us to the bartender and everyone was super nice as crazy as it was and always there to take our order for drinks. We grabbed some apps which all were amazing - egg rolls wings fries! Would go back in a heartbeat as good service and good food during a crazy time like yesterday is just amazing! Thank you all for making our day before the sad loss! We will be back. Go see these guys! Great spot great place and amazing service and food!

Yelp
I stumbled upon Abbey Burger Bistro while traveling. Although I only dined here one time, the first impression I got was review worthy. The server, who was also working the bar, was attentive and personable. The alligator bites were delicious. The crab dip that came with the Bavarian pretzel was so good that I kept it to dip my fries in. I also ordered a "build a burger" with duck meat, fried egg, sautéed onions, and Swiss cheese. The burger, like everything else I tried, was great. If I ever make it back to Baltimore, I'll definitely be tempted to come back here instead of somewhere new.

Yelp
Yummy yummy yummy ! I try to find new burger places to try once a month. This was a hit it was a nice day to sit outside and eat a yummy burger . I had fried onions, smoked Gouda and bacon .

Yelp
I am a self proclaimed burger and fries/tots critic. This place did not disappoint. First off, it was awesome to see that Dave Portnoy saved this business. I had seen the videos on social media of him making those calls to support small business during this pandemic. To actually have dined and supported this place was an honor. The burgers were DELICIOUS. The tater tots were cooked perfectly - crispy! The way you order your build your own burger is by filling out a sheet which I think is genius (I'm a picky eater!) A lot of their beers on tap were out but that can be expected on a Monday after a busy weekend. Proper COVID precautions are taken. Patrons are spaced apart and separated by plexiglass at the bar. 2 people Max can sit together at the bar between plexiglass dividers. They also have outdoor seating (see picture)

Yelp
We went here for the first time on Saturday evening, arriving around 5:30pm. Our experience was kind of comically bad. They are going through some kind of renovation along with new staff, apparently, because we walked in and there were only 4 tables (full of people) and then a whole section of the ground floor was just tables with a bunch of stuff on them. We went upstairs and the tables and appearance were normal, but they were clearly not ready to serve anyone up there despite it getting into the dinner hours. The waitress up there was very nice, but she was busy doing something else (maybe closing out from the day shift?) and wasn't really able to serve us for a good 30 minutes. Someone came by and dropped off plastic plates and utensils because their dishwasher was broken. After about 30 minutes the waitress told us a table opened up downstairs if we wanted to sit there, so we moved assuming that meant she still wasn't really able to help us upstairs. Downstairs it took at least 10 minutes for the new server to arrive, and then she took 2/4 of our orders and tried to leave. We stopped her and told her the other two of us wanted something too (?) and she seemed almost annoyed. Our food finally came out, and my burger was not at all what I ordered. I ordered the smoked angus cheddar bacon burger, and got the Baltimore burger. Of course nobody was around to tell, and it had been an hour since we arrived already so I didn't really want to send it back. I ate it, it was fine but kind of bland, especially in comparison to what I had chosen to order. It had crab dip on it but I didn't taste any crab, it was more like just a cream cheese spread. My husband thought his burger was just ok, too (he had some whiskey BBQ burger with 2 patties, which he thought was way too much meat). Our other dining companions seemed to like theirs, they did the build your own option. They brought us a second round of drinks, which was supposed to be identical to the first, but my beer was some other kind of beer. So of the three things I ordered, two were incorrect. It's a good thing I'm not picky! Again it would have been really hard to send back due to service issues, so I just drank it. I should also add, less than half of their tap beers were available, and there was no beer list to pick from the cans so I had just picked one of the 6 or so beers the waitress listed from her memory to begin with. So who knows what other beers they had available There was very loud music in there, which maybe would have been fine if we were 20 years younger or it was later at night but I would not recommend for someone in their 40s at 6pm. Really, I wouldn't recommend this place at all unless they make some major improvements. The one thing I will say positively about them is that they gave us our first round of drinks for free due to the delay in getting served, so at least they are aware of their issues? I had been to the location in Fells Point one other time and had a positive experience with good food, so I would recommend that - though this experience doesn't make me in a rush to go to any location again, honestly.

Yelp
Found this spot just walking celebrated my bf boyfriend birthday here!! I don't eat burgers however they look delicious (friends recommended)! I ate a ceaser salad and they gourmet onion rings
google avatar

Darrell B.

Yelp
Had lunch here with a co worker as we were doing a job nearby. It is tucked back off the street and easy to miss, but I would advise you do not. We both got build your own burgers. They give you a piece of paper with all the options and you go down the list and check off what you want. Makes it really simple. The burgers were good sized and delicious, toppings were generous, and the tater tots were good (just give them another minute frying next time, I like them really crisp).. Staff was really nice and it is a good mellow ambiance. We could not drink but it looked like it had a decent beer selection also.

Yelp
Easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. Service was nice friendly and very efficient. Very pleasant experience, prices are reasonable. Came here for dinner one night and we share the peanut butter burger and the bison burger. The burgers were huge, and loaded with a steak patty as well as a ton of great ingredients. The burgers tasted amazing, and ingredients is very fresh and of good quality. Absolutely delicious. Service was fast efficient and attentive. Love the low key ambience. The restaurant is Tucktaway in the alleyway which is super cute. And all the TVs were playing sports for those sports fans. Bathrooms are clean.

Jenny W.

Yelp
Would just like to start out by saying I used to be a regular at Abbey. Still come to all the Arsenal games because it's a lot of fun! Food is amazing! But I don't really come in anymore for the other times. I came in yesterday before and after the Ravens game. The bartenders had 3 shots each before I finished my first beer and shot at noon before heading to the stadium. That's cool and I understand the bar industry as I used to work in it. When I came back at 5pm the same bartenders were there still drinking 100 proof rumplemintz and the place was in shambles. I assumed the bartenders would have switched shifts or not drinking so heavy early if they knew they were working all day. This is why I don't frequent here all the time anymore because it has turned into a party every night with no control and I'm older now. Great food but maybe come on the early side of the evening during the week if you want a good dining experience.

Thomas M.

Yelp
I avoid this location at all costs, but every now and then I find myself here with some friends. Anyway, came on a Wednesday and tried to order food. The website says the kitchen closes at 10. Arrived at 9:30 and was told that the kitchen is already closed and not taking orders. On top of all of this every table or bar surface is incredible sticky... gross. Also, I got food poisoning last time I was here. I'll go back avoiding this spot as best I can.
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
Good crushes. Tucked away in a cute little strip with other bars. Bartenders were nice.
google avatar

Meg M.

Yelp
Couldn't even come and enjoy one of your burgers with my adult niece and nephew. Walked in on Sunday for lunch and couldn't even hear the kind bartender tell us to sit anywhere. I'm not afraid of loud places but we would have had to yell at the literal top of our lungs to hear anything or anyone. This want a Friday night, Sunday at 12 noon. Such a shame because we loved the idea of your place.
google avatar

Marlon W.

Yelp
Hands down literally one of the best burgers I've had since living in Md. I've lived here for 4 years and I've ate at many different bars and this place still has the best burgers. Also there's a old white guy there.. kind of tall.. He's dope man! He has mad soul and knows a ton of information about Baltimore! He told me and my buddies about the DJ who use to come on the radio and how they would have to hurry up and try and copy the record before he started speaking cause he was just let different mixes and beats rock for 45 minutes! They play old school hip hop here! If you're not a fan of the beastie boys and will smith. STAY home. I always go 10 minutes before the kitchen opens so the service is always good for me.. I've never been during a Sunday afternoon or Saturday night so I'm not sure how the service is when it's busy. I'll def be back next time I'm in Baltimore

Yelp
I get it... Every business has had to make modifications pretty abruptly and in some cases almost haphazardly to accommodate the craziness that is pandemic 2020... Some (never thought I'd be saying this but SHOUT OUT TO CHEESECAKE FACTORY ARUNDEL MILLS THAT HAS BEEN KILLING IT) have gone above and beyond and exceeded our expectations and others have reeeeeeaaaally let us down. While I would also reeeeaaallly have a hard time seeing it fit to give any business 1 or 2 stars during these times, Abbey Burger Bistro is who pushed me closest to it. We went out of our way for their burgers for carryout and neither of us finished ours because they were thrown together like slop, tasted freezer burned and bland, and carryout service was thee worst of our pandemic 2020's "car rides for snacks" adventures. The bar top where my order was retrieved was sticky and gross. The wait time was excessive for the food quality we received and I am putting this review here so you won't make the same mistake we did and go out of your way for this... You're better off hitting a shake shack or eating at home like we wished we did BUT... we will give them another shot when we can all dine inside again and hope that they get back to the quality service and food experience we had in pre-COVID-19 days..

Yelp
After the Baltimore marathon, my wife and I walked to the Abby burger joint in Federal Hill. Google maps said it was 18 minutes away walking. I think they meant Olympic speed walkers. 17 times along the way I contemplated downloading the app and using the scooter. When we got there, it was tucked away inside a crack in the wall and I almost missed it. When we got inside, it reminded me of a typical Irish Pub that I have never been to before in my life. So now I guess I don't have to go to Ireland. There were 3 nice young people serving and bartending that day. The food was good and the drink was good and would recommend it. The whole time we were there, it reminded me of "Cheers" where everyone would down a cup of beer after saying cheers at the same time. So I mentioned to the 3 workers that it reminded me of "Cheers." Dead silence. I told them it was a sitcom back in the days. I don't think they know what sitcom means. One guy says "I think I heard of it." The young lady said "I will google it when I get home." Yup, feeling old as F.

Yelp
Abbey burger is my favorite burger place in Baltimore! This location especially because they still do the boozy milkshakes! The server was super cool and she made us a custom spiked milkshake that turned out amazing! It was vanilla ice cream with rumple minze and baileys so it tasted like a York peppermint patty! But alcoholic. Very tasty. I also love that they have different types of unusual meat like elk, wild boar, and camel! The possibilities are endless when you can build your own burger with so many options!
google avatar

Sherrell H.

Yelp
The build you're own burger was delicious ! I had a lamb burger I would've given it 5 stars if it did not take so long , and it was hardly anyone in there. However, I would visit again.

Yelp
I've come to this place just twice. Both times I was happy. I really feel this place should be talked about more. The pricing is very reasonable considering the interesting and different things you find on the menu. It's not just a pub. The environment was friendly and professional, funny & helpful My husband and I got the Baltimore Burger last we went-delicious!! My burger was the same but they actually had the Beyond Meat for mine!! I also got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Adult milkshake YUMMMMMMMM I didn't get to finish the whole thing while we ate, but I did get to finish the entire thing thanks to management Today, I got the Shrimp Burger and...... the Cinnamon Toast Crunch adult shake again oh and the fry's are good too! Old Bay of course!! These are before and Afters.. The shrimp burger was good, the consistency reminds you of Shrimp toast‍

Yelp
My wife and kids stopped in for lunch after attending Mass at St Alphonsus. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the fried pickles and the tater tots with crab cheese. The burgers were also great. The waitress even changed the channel for my son so that he could watch the game! Definitely a great location to stop by, watch the games with friends, and enjoy the great food!

Yelp
While the lamb burger and tater tots I got were quite delicious, my first visit here was spoiled by an incident at the bar. Two patrons had gotten into it and the main bartender (possible owner?) totally lost his cool. He flung a bar stool in front of many customers. Also, our burgers took 40 minutes to come out even tho it wasn't that busy on a Sunday night. Seems like a cool place to come watch a football (European or American) game, but this experience, while probably rare, won't have me coming back.

Yelp
Great burgers and sides, as I remember from years ago. Ordered some burgers today via their website. The website could use a little more destruction for the specialty burgers. Did some build a burgers with tots and onion rings. The burgers had different meats: basic beef and the black angus. Nice meat content but the angus burger was a bit tougher. The pretzel buns were superb and every other topping asked for were good from the free toppings to the fried eggs and nacho cheese. The nacho cheese is super good. Overall a simple order but everything was made as great as I remembered their burgers tasting and was ready on time when their website said it would be ready. Kinda nice to not have to fight traffic or parking to get these either.

Yelp
What can ya say. They make a killer burger. It's a must stop whenever I'm in Baltimore.

Yelp
I'm a bit surprised I'm writing this review. I haven't had Abbey Burger in a couple of years due to my previous visit. I had awful food positioning the last time I visited. I believe the item that got me sick was no longer on the menu. With that being said, the crab tots were 10/10. The crab dip they put on top was delicious and the lumps of crab meat was the icing on the cake. I got the southwestern Bison burger and it was honestly poor. They put so many condiments that I didn't taste the burger. There was multiple draft beers that were kicked & the beer menus differed. The only reason this is getting a 3/5 is the crab dip.

Yelp
Consistently pretty good food- I've had several things here and never been disappointed. Most recently had a bison burger which I sometimes get anxious about ordering because they often come overcooked, but this one was perfectly medium rare. I love a good tater tot, and Abbey Burger has those too. Pretty good beer list, although there were no prices on the menu which was annoying. The vast array of available burger meats is great! Service can be pretty iffy. I've had great servers and also servers who don't turn up for 30 minutes. They get very busy, so it's sort of understandable but also can be annoying if you have to be somewhere. So plan accordingly. Cool old bar atmosphere.

Yelp
Best burger in Baltimore! My boyfriend and I each did the build your own burger and split an order of fried pickles. These are the best fried pickles I've ever had! If you like fried pickles, you must get these. They're battered in what seems like funnel cake breading, unlike any other fried pickle which are usually more like fried chicken breading. These are way better! And they come with a delicious spicy aioli type sauce. For my burger, I got bison on a pretzel bun, with peach and herb salad, raspberry habanero sauce, and goat cheese. With waffle fries. Although this rang up around $17, everything was amazing and it was a huge burger. I would highly recommend the pretzel bun over a regular bun! And for those feeling adventurous, the goat cheese is surprisingly delicious! Overall, you can't go wrong with anything at Abbey, we will be back!

Yelp
My best friend lives around the corner from Abbey Burger Bistro & how have I not known about it until now?! It's fabulous! It is hidden, down an alley but still. The restaurant was steady with a diverse crowd of customers. Families, young & old. I came with a friend before an Orioles game to Pre-Game. Greeted as soon as we walked in the door. Service was great! Blue Moons to start and before our glasses were empty, we were asked if we wanted another. Alligator bites for an appetizer. I did take a small bite. Interesting. Not sure they're my thing but my friend loved them. Crabby tots were delicious! Creamy, full of crab, dip on top of perfect tater tots. Yum! Love the build your own burger. Tons of choices to choose from in all categories! Fried egg as a topping, they have it. Peanut butter on your burger, yep. The diner sitting behind us had the peanut butter burger & was doing the happy seat dance as she was eating. My build was pretzel bun, fried green tomatoes, avocado, regular tomatoes, chipotle mayo. That chipotle mayo made the burger. Spicy and delish! A lot of spicy! The burgers are topped with a pickle slice, the server warns you ahead of time that the pickle is super spicy and he didn't lie! I like spice. Between the chipotle mayo & spicy pickle, I was in food heaven. I upgraded to onion rings, which I honestly only ate one. With all the other great food, I was stuffed. I'll definitely put this in my pre-gaming rotation!

Yelp
We've been spending weekends in Inner Harbor for some time. We recently came down and wandered around fells point on a very hot weekend. Needed a place for a cool drink, and frankly my man really wanted a burger- so he wanted to try Abbey Burger Bar. This place was great. Sat at the bar. Hand amazing drinks, great food. I had chicken fingers- they were awesome - I know because I'm a chicken finger snob! The bartender and waitress made us feel at home. Plenty TVs with sports going. Definitely coming back here- in fact I have a feeling it's gonna be one out go-to places from now on!

Yelp
My experience was horrible. The bar maid gave a spit cup to someone chewing tobacco at the bar after we ordered food. Then a woman that was with him saw I was visibly repulsed and started videoing me like I was a "Karen" to be videoed. I became uncomfortable with that so my husband moved us to a different location. We built our own burgers and they forgot to put a sauce I had picked out for my burger. It was over done and bland. The manager came over and smirked at me when I told him about my burger being dry. They gave me a free beer, due to my husband complaining, but honestly I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Yelp
Although I do not live in Baltimore, Abbeys has long been on my radar as it comes recommended by DMV fans of Arsenal Football Club. Unfortunately, when I finally visited on Wednesday the Arsenal flag outside of Abbeys was rolled up and barely visible. However, the food was excellent and far exceeded my normal expectations of "sports bar" type fare. I ordered Harry's Bistro Burger and sweet potato fries; the burger tasted fresh and ingredients were generous yet still well balanced. Most importantly to me, neither the burger nor the fries were over-salted. Prices seemed fair to me, much more reasonable than my home area. I look forward to returning in the future during more normal times!

Yelp
One of the single best burgers you will have - not only in Baltimore, but the world. Abbey Burger Bistro provides everything you would want in a burger restaurant. I recommend the build your own burger option; which gives customers extensive choices of meat - ranging from your standard angus beef, to more exotic meats like Bison, Elk and even Camel(which I have yet to be daring enough to try). You can customize your burger from the bun, to the toppings, to the sauces, and sides. Every combination I have tried in my half a dozen visits here have been amazing. The burgers are always cooked flawlessly. The meat and ingredients are always fresh. I have never had a bad meal here. Adding to the burgers - which are clearly their specialty, the joint also offers a fully stocked bar and a very impressive beer menu which includes a lot of standard, popular domestic brews, local Maryland brews, and a lot of craft beers that I haven't even heard of. You will definitely find a good new beer to try here. The staff is always great. My waiter/bartender my last two visits - Chris, has been terrific. Love Abbey Burger Bistro, and will always keep coming back. They do have a second location in Fells Point, as well - if your stay is a little further east of Baltimore city.

Yelp
Do you know what I love more than a good burger joint? A burger joint with variety; moreover, Abbey Burger Bistro provides exactly that. They have selections of different burgers such as bison, spicy duck, blackened shrimp, ground turkey, and ground chicken (that's not even mentioning their sides, toppings, bread, and cheeses.) My mouth was watering looking at all the options I almost couldn't decide on what to get, but eventually, after taking some time to read over the menu, the Southern Chicken Burger caught my eye. The burger was excellent, the meat was seasoned really well and the pimento cheese, slaw, spicy pickles added so much flavor I didn't even need to use any kind of sauce on my burger. I'm also glad I got their crab tater tots on the side. Just be aware that they don't make a side order of crab tater tots so you have to pay extra for the crab dip and cheese, but it's still cheaper than buying a full order. All in all, their food was great. There were a couple of flubs in service, but our server had a great attitude throughout our meal so it didn't ruin our experience. I can't wait to come back to try another burger the next time I'm in Baltimore.
