The Best Boba Tea Shops in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"This popular Taiwanese bubble tea chain now has three locations across San Diego including an outpost at Westfield UTC. It’s known for making its own brown sugar tapioca boba that it calls “Deerioca”, which can be added to any drink along with jelly in flavors like lychee and pineapple." - Candice Woo

12-31-24 Nice decor and plenty of comfy seating area. Good place to chill w some friends. I definitely will be back to hang out w my son to enjoy their cold drinks. The only problem, we waited 25 min for our orders. Ordered: -Lychee Yogurt Smoothie $7.75 -Mango Green Milk Tea $5.95 Both were refreshing. My mango drink was still a little on the sweet side even though I asked for 50% sweetness. Note: -3% charge for credit card fee -All gender restroom -Located in the same mall as Vons on Balboa Ave

This place is legit the best boba I’ve ever had! This is the first time that I had a choice in the type of milk they use, which is 🤯! Also, there is no extra charge for non dairy milk! Their boba is super good, chewy and comes with brown sugar syrup. Very unexpected though, besides the syrup, there are pieces of peanuts (or some other nuts) amongst the boba, which I have never seen done before. Ask beforehand about that if you have a nut allergy! The drink itself was thicker than I expected, I got the taro-ube milk tea, and the consistency of the taro ube part was very frothy/thick. Mixing everything with the straw was very difficult, so if you care to mix everything together really good, make sure to shake it real well before poking it with the straw. This drink is not too sweet, I thought it was just perfect. This place is a real winner and the only downside is how busy it already is. We probably waited for like 15-20 mins to order, since their self-order machine was out of order. I can’t wait to go back though, it’s worth the wait for sure!

I ordered Ube Brown Sugar Deerioca Creme Brulee, it's $7.25, a little pricy compared to other boba tea places, but it’s a large size and super tasty, I think it's worth it! They cannot change the sugar level, if I want Less sugar means less boba.

Google
I dropped in during its soft opening so not everything on its menu was available. No problem as I was in the mood only for a boba milk tea of some sort. Its signature line of drinks is the Brown Sugar Deerioca, so I ordered one. The brown sugar taste is pretty strong and left a lingering taste in my mouth. At almost $7, I'm not sure it is worth the extra buck and a half over the regular milk tea they offer.

Google
Long line but it went by quick. Their kiosk is down so I’m sure if that was up and running it would have been a little faster. I got the brown sugar crème Brûlée with Crystal boba and pudding and it was very good. The milk they use almost taste like oat milk and the boba is sweet and has a good chew. Large size drink but pricy for sure. But delicious ! Something to not get all the time but nice treat once an awhile.

CowboyChadd

Google
Long line that moved fairly quickly, modern atmosphere with bathrooms. Boba had a jelly melt in your mouth consistency that was really good. Brown sugar creme brûlée had a rich carmel flavor and the ube one less of that. Would return.

Google
Wow!!! This boba is absolutely incredible. Came for the soft opening and already came back for the grand opening. It's sooooo good. The boba is soft, sweet, and chewy. The teas are so well done. The Ube Taro Brown Sugar Deerioca is insane. They put bits of taro in the drink. Delicious. Be warned, you'll want to come back for more.

Google
Just walked into this place they did not acknowledge that I was there for 5 minutes, the only one at the counter, then said hold on for a minute, went in the back to do some dishes, never came back. Avoid this place at all costs as they only serve certain types of clientele.

Yelp
Ube Taro our go to drink here never dissapoints. Always fresh. Bit pricey but well worth it. Parking can be a challenge in this busy area during weekends. Fair warning. Overall love the cool ambuence and aesthetically pleasing dessert place.

Yelp
I ordered a matcha brown sugar with oat milk and an iced coffee. The boba in the matcha drink was hard. Augh. We weren't near the cafe anymore when we realized that the boba is stale. The rest of this review may be TMI. Most Asians are lactose intolerant. I ordered an iced coffee with no sugar. What I got was a creamy looking cup of something that didn't resemble iced coffee. Maybe it's because I don't normally go out anymore but iced coffee should have only two ingredients. I even asked for zero sugar. I apologized for not ordering right but the girl behind the counter told me the creamer they use is lactose free. She said the snow velvet does have heavy cream. I am ok with heavy cream just not milk. I thanked her and left with the drinks. Either the girl was lying or there's something else in the creamer that wasn't agreeing with my body. Anyway, lesson learned. If you order the ice coffee expect a blast.

Yelp
Been a couple of times and I usually get the brown sugar deerioca milk or the ube taro brown sugar deerioca. Very large cups and can be sweet but a good sweet treat overall. Clean and modern inside but can be tight when packed.

Yelp
Many bonus points + stars for doing a JJK collab. Unfortunately, the drinks themselves weren't that good :( I might come back and try one of their normal non-collab drinks at some point.

Yelp
Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brulee milk- 5/5 Strawberry GT w/ Jelly- 3/5 The alley is a boba chain--which is better than most! It is not too sweet and doesn't have that syrup taste that share tea or kung fu would have. They also have a reward card where you get a free drink on your 10th purchase! It's not super busy and the music isn't loud so it's a decent place to study!
google avatar

Yelp
It's a solid boba spot! Drinks are not overly sweet and you can taste the tea flavor. The space is super clean and workers were nice! For the price point, I'd come again :)

Yelp
Visited SD's Store front with a Spy family promotion active. I tried one of their promotional drinks which was the passionfruit orange drink and it was quite refreshing. The seats were nice as well and i felt like this store embodied the Alley feeling. I appreciated the service i received from the worker who assisted me with the redemption of the spy family promotion.

Yelp
We decided to try a new boba place and I've heard about The Alley before so figured why not. The plaza that it's in has a very large parking lot although it does get a bit busy. The line moves pretty quickly and ordering was easy. I ordered the Peach Oolong Tea ($5.75) with Boba, less ice and light sweetness. They give you a receipt with your number which they will call once your order is ready. While I liked the boba flavor, they were cooked pretty unevenly, with a few of them being harder in the middle and other being fully cooked. The tea itself was good, but wasn't anything too outstanding. Just your average oolong tea with peach flavor pumped into the cup. There are only a few tables and chairs inside, so it's more a place to just order and grab your drink and then go. If you do manage to grab a table though then it's a nice place to hang out with friends or study. This is just another average boba shop, nothing really stands out about it. Yeah, i wouldn't be opposed to coming back if my friends really want to hang out here but it wouldn't be my own preferred boba shop.

Yelp
I came here with my daughter and we really enjoyed our drinks. She ordered the Orange Peach Oolong and I got the Assam Black Milk Tea w/boba. Both drinks were good, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Orange Peach Oolong. The drink was both fragrant and refreshing. This boba shop was very clean and has lots of tables, perfect for students to bring their laptops to study (which was what my daughter did while I ran some errands). Service was fast and friendly, and lots of free parking in a shared lot!

Yelp
This is a small spot right next door to Crumbl cookie! It's in a very busy parking lot, but plenty of spots available. It's very clean, neat, and bright inside with limited seating. Good ambiance and music. The menu is very limited. The servers are very friendly and welcoming. Overall, I was quite disappointed considering multiple people recommended this spot. I wouldn't come back here for boba. Food review: Jasmine milk tea boba: (2/5) The flavor wasn't what I was expecting. It was a very bland/boring drink. It definitely had a jasmine flavor, but lacked sweetness. I couldn't finish it honestly. Ube taro brown sugar: (4/5) Super sweet, but really good strong ube flavor. Good combo of flavors. Would order again!

Yelp
We ordered the Ube & taro brown sugar milk with boba and the lychee yogurt smoothie. I think both drinks were winners. They don't have a super big menu here, but they do have a number of non-caffeinated options as well as caffeinated ones, which is always appreciated. The Ube taro brown sugar milk has a fixed sweetness, and luckily the drink is actually not too sweet. There's real taro paste inside, and it's super creamy and delicious. I'm happy to also report that the texture of the boba is on point, and it's sweetened with brown sugar & not flavorless. We got it with light ice and they did not overdo it on the ice like some other places do. The lychee yogurt smoothie can be adjusted for sweetness, so I got it at 50% sweetness and that was the right move for sure. It was good, but I wish it had more of a pronounced yogurt flavor. I like how there are real pieces of lychee in this drink. I wish that they had served mine in a see-through cup instead of the odd choice of having a seasonal holiday cup mid-March lol. I'm one of those people who like to take pictures of their food and I like the aesthetic of being able to see my drink. (Yes, this is nitpicking, and no, I didn't mind it that much.) The environment is bright and while there aren't that many tables, it's still a good location to chat. We stayed here for a little bit enjoying our drinks. I docked it one point because the price point is pretty high. It was $7.25-7.75 for these drinks. I've paid that much for boba before, but those usually have a bunch of toppings or have more expensive ingredients like matcha.

Yelp
I've visited this location twice and each time the line is a bit long. Just glancing over the menu, the items seem a little bit higher in price compared to other boba spots. I forget that they charge a 3% surcharge for credit card transaction. I don't think they have it shown anywhere otherwise I would use cash. It's not that much but still, I'd prefer to not pay a surcharge. The two drinks I've had are good. I'm not sure that they are the best I've had but I do like the location. The interior design is very clean and minimalist which I love. They do have specials at different times, you just have to check the counter near the register to see them. This evening, I ordered the most simple and basic jasmine green tea. I see they typically go in order by the receipt line placement they set on the table. My number was next (#38) but they called and two orders that were ordered after me (#41 and #42), who ordered multiple drinks (about 3 each and they were the specials that had to be blended). That was a bit annoying that I ordered first but they were called prior to me and for the fact that my drink was more simple. I was called after those and even the worker said oops sorry, here's your drink. So that was ok, but if I wasn't after them, then I probably would have inquired on the delay. Overall, it was convenient and I would still return.

Yelp
I must say the boba from maybe the last 2 days, not happy, not fresh, not going back any more

Yelp
Came here to specifically try the JJK drink collaboration with the Alley. It was pretty packed for a Sunday afternoon and the seating was limited. I've been to the Alley in Asia & I would have to say that this one doesn't quite compare when it comes to flavor and service. It took a few minutes to get our drinks & I noticed that people after us were also experiencing a bit of a wait as well. It could be that they are still new and getting the hang of things so I'll come back & give them another chance later on Also, their photo opp didn't have Gojo which was a bummer

Yelp
I first had The Alley in Vegas and fell in love!! I had the ube brown sugar deerioca crème brulee milk (say that five times fast lol) and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Since then I have been patiently waiting for them to open up near me. Now that they are open, I feel like I go less than I thought I would! I do love their flavors and that drink, but it just feels a bit pricey especially since you can only order a large at this location. The space itself is small so I usually just order to-go. I still enjoy The Alley as an occasional sugary treat. They have good caffeine free options as well. They also offer alternative milks, I usually get oat milk with my drinks here. Parking is usually no issue, it is located in a plaza near the Vons.

Yelp
Glad The Alley has made its way to SD. I used to always have to make a stop at this chain when I'm up in OC. The Ube Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée (add extra crème brûlée) is my go-to. Price can be a little steep but they have to keep up with inflation pricing these days... Shop is bright and clean.

Yelp
I really liked the boba here!!! My friends got the specialty drinks (The Alley x JJK) and I got the strawberry green tea with Jelly. My tea was fresh and it had fresh strawberries in it. I also really liked how soft and chewy the green tea jelly in it was . This place is also super cute inside and the service was fast despite it being busy. Boba: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5

Yelp
Not sure what I expected. I remember going to The Alley when I was still living in LA & loving it. Somehow, either my tastebuds changed or this must have not been made the same way. The Original Purple Rice Yogurt tastes super fermented in the worst way possible & is a very acquired taste that wouldn't be recommended to those who are just looking for a coffee/tea fix, but their brown sugar boba wasn't anything to brag about either. Overall, the ambiance of the location is nice & is in the very busy plaza next to our beloved Shabumi. I really thought I had found a quick tea fix location after our hot pot/bbq fix, but that just wasn't the case. Overall, it was decent. I just wouldn't come back here again.

Yelp
So yummy & creamy and sooo nice and clean inside. The cashier was super sweet and helped walk us through the menu since we were first timers and definitely coming back again. Got mine with .5 scoop less brown sugar boba for less sweetness and this is PERFECT!

Yelp
This is my favorite boba place. I first tried it in Irvine on my way from Ventura county. I was happy to see that one opened up here in San Diego. I love their boba, they are soft and perfect sweet. They have the perfect amount of sweetness and their drinks are aesthetically pleasing. I love the color of ube and the contract it makes with the rest of the drink. The service was quick and the drinks were made very well. Overall I will come back again.
google avatar

Yelp
The guy with the forest hat was really kind and accommodating and service was fast! I got the grapefruit lemonade green tea. Great mix of bitter and sweet after a meal of hotpot. Relieving my stomach and cleansed my palate. The ambiance is clean and white like an Apple Store in the early 2000s. They played Billie Eilish.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here for after dinner boba. We had about 30 mins before closing to order and I really came here for their croffle. We ordered the brown sugar boba milk tea and unfortunately they were not serving the croffle. But just know it's really good. It has nice texture and the crème on top is fluffy, mildly sweet. The brown sugar milk tea is one of there best drinks bc the brown sugar with the warm boba is a nice combo. Pairs well with the milk tea since it's really sweet. The store is pretty small with two large areas for groups and smaller seating for couples. Service is standard and drinks came out relatively quick.
google avatar

Maynard O.

Yelp
I've tried The Alley in Irvine Spectrum and this location holds up its reputation. I always get the Brown Sugar Deerioca Crème Brûlée Milk. The cold milk with warm boba is such a good combo. The croffle is served warm each time and the top is very flavorful and creamy. The service is about standard, and nothing really amazing. The chairs squeak here loud af if you try to scoot in/out.
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
Ok first time here and the place is very clean and kind of hip. Many areas to sit and I saw many plugs for charging. Staff friendly and helpful. This place is in a shopping center so plenty of parking. My tea was good and boba fresh . The only thing I would say is too bad they don't have a bigger menu and more desserts or snacks. They literally just had 1 food item. This place is good a must try.
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! It's in a big parking lot with other shops so you'll be able to get parking. The inside is nicely decorated but it's clean and simple, loving the vibe. Very friendly service and the drinks came out quick. I got the ube milk tea with brown sugar boba, it has taro chunks! It went surprisingly well with the soft boba. Would def recommend!
google avatar

Bella C.

Yelp
Cute and modern interior, with a great vibe for hanging out with a small group. The drinks are very reasonably priced. I'm used to paying almost 8 bucks for boba but this place was only $6 something for a large. I think maybe I just ordered the wrong thing this time but the drinks were okay tasting. The cashier recommended the Royal No. 9 milk tea. She said it tasted like blueberries, which I was interested in trying. I could actually taste the floral and fruity hints of blueberry in the tea, but after a while it became overwhelming and I wouldn't order it again. We also asked for the peach oolong tea with milk but I guess they didn't hear us bc there was no milk :'( PSA DO NOT GET FULL SWEET!! We ordered our drinks at 25% sweet and they were still soooo sweet!
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this boba joint late in the evening. I feel like I've heard of this brand before in LA so I decided to give it a try. Since it was late, I didn't want anything with caffeine. The cashier was very helpful and showed me the different drink options without caffeine. I decided to get the ube brown sugar milk drink and IT WAS DELICIOUS! I usually don't like brown sugar drinks because the molasses tastes like medicine to me but this drink did not have any of that medicine taste. THIS WAS THE BEST BOBA I EVER HAD THIS YEAR. I regret not getting another one :( Please open up a shop in Northern California

Yelp
The boba here was not that great in my opinion. I got the lychee smoothie and it was ok. Ordered it with less sugar and still tasted super sweet. The others were the same. Service was average at best.

Yelp
If you're looking for some boba after hot pot, sushi, cookies, or breads, then the Alley can definitely provide. Particularly the Brown Sugar Deerioca Creme Brûlée -- it's a decadent, solid cup of boba. I would have give the Alley 3.5 stars, but no half stars on Yelp ;) So we're rounding up to a 4. The reason for 3.5 is because the wait time is a hit or miss. I've had times when I've visited the Alley and the drinks come out within a reasonable time frame (~10mins or so), but I've had a few times where I've waited 20-30 minutes for two cups of boba. Some other things of note: The Alley only offers one size ("large"), and there are some tables and chairs to work/study. You may not be able to find parking right in front, as there's a lot of shops/restaurants in this plaza, but there *is* plenty of parking.
google avatar

Yelp
What i ordered | ube brown sugar latte + boba Taste | this was a good brown sugar boba milk drink. I could barely taste any ube on this drink so it could've passed as a just a brown sugar boba drink without the ube. Service | during their soft opening, waiting about 30 min Parking | plaza lot

Yelp
We got the taro drink and it was quite good! Service was good and the ambiance is great for a casual hangout. Would've been10/10 if my wallet didn't cry a little after...

Yelp
Another month, another new boba tea shop has opened in San Diego. This time it's The Alley which has debuted in a suite on the east side of the Balboa Mesa Shopping Center in Clairemont. I have visited twice with the first occasion at the soft opening during the first week of August. The menu offerings were limited as the staff gradually released their different tea series to the public. A couple of weeks later, the full menu was now available. It's not as extensive as some other bubble tea spots. The categories were Coffee Series, The Alley Specialty, Original Brew Tea Series, Brown Sugar Deerioca, and Milk Tea Series. The business logo featured a deer which was why a "deerioca" mashup name was used to describe the beverages containing brown sugar tapioca. As usual with boba tea soft openings, the line was long. I chose an Ube Taro Brown Sugar Deerioca Milk because none of the fruit teas were available yet. It was a very colorful, layered drink. The bottom was packed with boba pearls, the middle tier was brown sugar and milk, and the top was a purple mix of ube and taro. Even for my sweet tooth, I thought this concoction was a bit too sugary. At my recent stop, I picked two of the four fruit teas from The Alley Specialty. The first was a Passionfruit Green Tea and the other was an Orange Peach Oolong Tea. Both had modifications of light ice and boba pearls added. The latter were boiled to a good degree of softness. Green tea jelly was added to the passionfruit drink which I did not expect. The orange bits mixed in with the peach drink gave some nice texture. The parking situation was decent because of the shared lot in front of one of its neighbors, VONS. The inside had several tables for seating, but I wouldn't say it was overly spacious. The staff was polite and efficient. My experiences at The Alley were between a three and four star level.

Yelp
I've been to The Alley before not in the US so I was so excited for The Alley to open in SD. They have really good boba! In my opinion, the drinks itself were not very flavorful considering how colorful they are. We ordered off the Deerioca Brown Sugar series and got the matcha brown sugar and ube. They do milk substitutions of oat milk or soy. Deerioca = tapioca which we did not know until we got our order. I usually do not get boba with my drinks, but their boba is the best part about the drink! It was made fresh and warm. I will give The Alley a 3.5/5 because they handled the long lines well and the drinks come out quickly. I'm not sure if I would return unless someone else wanted to try drinks from here, but I would try something else next time! There's also lots of seating on both sides of the room and couch space to just hang out at.

Yelp
Decent boba. It probably ranks right in the middle of the many boba shops in San Diego. I got the royal no. 9 milk tea, 25% sugar, less ice and with boba. It seems to be a standard milk tea with some additional fruity flavor. I probably should have just gone with the standard milk tea flavor. The fruit flavor was different but I didn't like it more than the standard, especially since it covers the tea flavor completely. The boba was great though. Perfectly cooked and had a nice chew. Service was very fast. Came on a Saturday at 2 and didn't have to wait to order. Got my drink less than 5 min after ordering. The space is pretty inviting. They have a good amount of seating indoors too which is nice. Plenty of parking since it's in a big strip mall area.

Yelp
First time at an "Alley"! Heard a lot about it from friends in Orange County and LA. We tried to the Matcha Brown Sugar, UbeTaro, Brown Sugar Brulee and Thai Iced Tea. Normally my husband who get Ube Taro without boba was told...you have to have the boba, because that is where the sweetness comes from, so he abided. He actually liked the boba! That's when he was sold on this place. I had the matcha brown sugar and it was good...not too sweet, just perfect! Everyone else was satisfied with their drinks, as well. Looks like they are popping all over the place here in San Diego. One in UTC that just opened and there's another I think coming to Mira Mesa (as if they don't have enough in that area)...but then again there's so many in Kearny Mesa, too! Service was great. They were patient with us changing our minds. Cash is the preferred method of payment. You can also purchase the Royal Tea in cans....I think they were about $3 each.

Yelp
Delicious drinks! I've always seen this place from friends and Instagram, I'm so glad I decided to stop by to finally try this place for myself. Really quick service, ordered the drinks with 3 other people and the drinks came out within 5 mins. I got the Ube Brown Sugar Crème Brûlée Milk Tea with boba and the other drink was the Ube Brown Sugar Milk Tea with boba. Both very similar in drink taste, but I definitely loved the sweetness of mine the most. The crème brûlée was so perfect with the ube. The other boba drink was the same but just stronger flavors of true ube flavor and that was refreshing. Boba was so soft and chewy, which was a plus. I haven't tried the other drinks yet but I'll be back to try more! Especially something that isn't so sweet and savory.

Yelp
It's pretty cool to see that The Alley has finally made its way down to San Diego! I'm not a huge brown sugar milk tea person so I don't usually go to places that specialize in them. However, I live super close to The Alley so I thought id give it a shot! We got the Ube Taro Brown Sugar milk tea (4/5) and Matcha Crème Brûlée choffle (4.5/5). Both were super good and very sweet. I love croissant anything so this waffle croissant was amazing. If I could, I'd ask for half the topping because it's pretty sweet (but still tasty)! I know it's a relatively new spot so maybe they're working on it but I wish there was more interior decorating or color because I found the inside to be kind of dull

Yelp
Heard about The Alley opening here in Sd so we gotta make a trip! We had it in Australia before Covid; it was so memorable because of their warm, soft and yet a little tad chewy bobas. Unfortunately, I took off a star due to the coldness of the boba that served today. Maybe it was a bad batch or they were too busy. Hopefully, the next time we visit, their boba will taste better. We had the brown sugar deeiroca boba brûlée milk, a caffeine-free drink. The milk pudding was super delicious and the milk was creamy and smooth. We also ordered the assam milk tea with added boba. This drink was also delicious. Both drinks were made with regular sugar level. Funny thing was that they weren't super sweet. Usually brown sugar drinks are super sweet, but this place makes it perfect. They are new to the area so expect to wait in line but it does go quick.

Yelp
After waiting a week for their crazy grand opening lines to die down, I was finally able to stop by in the afternoon on a weekday to grab a drink with a minimal line. I ended up getting the Ube Brown Sugar Deerioca Creme Brulee Milk (try saying that five times fast), which comes as a large with almost no customization available. The only way to make it less sweet is to get less brown sugar boba, which I opted for. I think this was a bit of a mistake though, as the drink ended up not being as sweet as I thought it would be. The ube foam itself wasn't very sweet (or flavorful), so the drink ended up being very mild in flavor and tasted mostly of milk. I was also thrown off by the "creme brulee" in the name, which I thought meant that the top would be torched. What it actually is is a slightly sweet egg pudding, which I did actually enjoy mixed with the boba. The brown sugar boba here is okay, the batch I had didn't taste super fresh and the boba wasn't that soft. If I came back here, I would probably try one of their regular milk or fruit teas and stay away from their milk series. At over 1100 calories for one drink, I felt like it was a bit of a waste as it didn't satisfy my boba or dessert craving. This place was a bit hyped up for their "signature" drinks, but I'd be willing to go back and try out other things on the menu.

Yelp
The people are nice and very efficient. I've tried a couple drinks and they're both delicious. This is going to be one of my new favorite spots I also love how beautiful and simple the decor is.

Yelp
This place is pretty great to get some boba, with a lot of variety of different drinks, I often order 1-3 boba depending on if I have friends with me or not, the price is bit more expensive than other places, but it's well worth it for the quality. service was decently fast when I order from this place.

Yelp
Excellent boba spot! My favorite is the Royal milk tea which has a rich fruity flavor, very unique to this chain. They also sell the royal tea in cans for $3 each. The service is prompt and friendly, they do prefer cash as cards add 3% regardless of total bill. Boba pearls are of good sweetness and texture. Return often and worth a visit. There are a handful of seats inside should you wish to stay in!

Yelp
Came for the soft opening and so happy I got to try this place! They had the full menu already, waited in line for ~10 minutes on a Fri afternoon around 3pm. Tried the original purple rice yogurt, ube taro brown sugar deerioca milk and lychee yogurt smoothie! Boba here is perfectly soft, chewy and syrupy. - Purple rice yogurt was unique and felt like you were just slurping down pure dessert -- before you add on your own boba, note that it already comes with a jelly topping -The ube taro brown sugar milk was probably my favorite, creamy and flavorful and super aesthetic. Comes with boba -Lychee yogurt smoothie was way too sweet and I regretted getting at 100% sugar, definitely recommend asking for less sugar for this one. Lychee chunks was a plus Store itself is very cute, aesthetic and clean! Clean bathroom in the back. It's in a strip mall with ample parking although the lot was pretty crowded on a Friday afternoon. Main con about this place was the price: every drink I got was more than $7 (to be fair the teas are a tad cheaper) and boba is 70 cents so I ended up paying over $25 for 3 drinks which is definitely on the more expensive side of the boba market in SD. Would still recommend trying this place: come welcome The Alley to SD!

Yelp
Very clean venue located in shopping center in Clairemont so parking is easy. The freshest boba I've came across yet! Ube drink w/crème brûlée was delish! I wish the offered a variety of sizes though.

Yelp
So happy they finally opened The Alley by me! All of their milk teas are really good and you can taste the tea in it which I love. The ube drink is so yummy and perfect if you're feeling a dessert drink. I tried the coffee milk tea today and that one is great as well. Service is great! They'll help you make a recommendatioif you're not sure what to get. Definitely found my neighbor go to boba place!

Yelp
Came by to try out the JJK promo and went around Saturday night. It wasn't a crazy line and our group of 5 found a seat pretty easily. I ordered the Gojo coconut blended (?) drink and it was good - they didn't really let us change sweetness level or add any new toppings or remove any. The color itself was good and it was fun getting the sleeve, sticker, and little drink straw thing. I wasn't super impressed with the flavor but I liked the idea of it and I've had previous drinks here that I liked so I'm not super against The Alley. I'll be back for the other drinks they have to offer!
