The Allis at Soho House is a chic hangout that serves fresh juices and pastries by day, transforming into a vibrant bar scene at night, perfect for relaxed bites and leisurely high tea.
"The Allis is Soho House’s lobby bar/restaurant and overall consolation prize for the peasants who can’t get past Soho House’s pearly gates. Luckily, the luxe but “we woke up like this” casual feel makes this West Loop spot a nice option for some light weekday reading with a specialty house tonic or glass of wine. Just be prepared to close your copy of How To Win Friends And Influence People—and put what you’ve learned into practice—when the space transitions from quiet coffee shop mentality to sceney, loud cocktail lounge in the evenings." - veda kilaru, adrian kane, john ringor
"Starting at $63 per person The Allis is Soho House’s lobby bar and restaurant, and also happens to be where they host afternoon tea on the weekends. The setting means that the tea skews casual—you’ll be sipping tea out of fancy cups surrounded by hotel guests eating lunch and travelers at the communal table frantically sending emails before rushing to catch their flight. But this is one of the few tea services that's a great solo experience. There are plenty of small tables lining the big windows looking out onto Green Street, which makes for fun people-watching over a three-tiered tea tray stacked with mint chocolate tarts and lemon choux pastries." - veda kilaru
"Soho House - the mecca for Chicago’s elite creatives, complete with hotel, gym, pool, and restaurants. The Allis - Soho House’s first floor restaurant and overall consolation prize for the peasants who can’t get past Soho House’s pearly gates. Fortunately, it’s really good. We didn’t know quite what to expect the first time we walked into The Allis. Would we have to immediately publicize our status upon entering? Would they sniff out our lack of belonging like a bloodhound? Surprisingly, no, and it's quite the opposite. The staff is immediately welcoming, and Soho House is a warm and comfortable place. The space feels incredibly chic without even trying. Enormous chandeliers dripping with crystals dangle above charmingly mismatched chairs. It’s luxe, but with a “we woke up like this” feel. This upscale yet homey environment gives a special charm to a place that’s ideal for getting work done on a Tuesday afternoon. Set up shop and settle in on a sofa, plush chair, or large shared dining table. The concise breakfast and lunch menus offer fresh sandwiches, salads, and snacks that are the perfect accompaniment for your solo dining. Service is pretty slow, but in a methodical way, and you won’t care since this is a place you’re looking for an excuse to hang around for a few hours. On weekend nights, things go from quiet coffee shop mentality to sceney, loud cocktail lounge. It's a solid spot to pop in for a drink, but we prefer to make this our weekday hang. Because for one brief moment, you’re not a banker, lawyer, or some other Soho House outcast. Instead, you'll sit there feeling like you belong. And if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em." - Claire Schlafly
"The Allis, named after the family who commissioned the building in 1907, is one of the public spaces at The Soho House. They serve fresh, locally sourced ingredients in their light and delicious lunch fare. A great spot to have a quick bite or meeting. Their chocolate chip cookie is one of my favorites in the city!" - Linsey Rosen
