These San Francisco Neighborhoods Saw the Most Restaurant Closings During the Last Few Years | Eater SF

"I learned that Allspicery, a spice retailer that opened in 2016, announced on Instagram on August 11 that it will shut down if no one buys the business by September; owner Heather Wong said she can no longer give the store the dedication it needs in a post-COVID world, and interested buyers are asked to email heather@allspicery.com." - Paolo Bicchieri

Such a cute place for the right people. I enjoyed visiting and the only thing I didn’t enjoy was having to choose from all the options. I got some Tulsi, Raspberry Leaf, Hibiscus, and Elderberry all of which are good quality. I look forward to purchasing more spices next time.

Google
What a neighborhood gem! Great for replenishing your spices & adding more depth to your cooking. Like which of 5 paprikas??? Staff very helpful. Wonderful spot for gifts too. Was sad they left downtown, but this store expansion makes shopping fun. Love flavored sugars like Chai to top my homemade chai latte

So today I went to pick up some knives that I brought in to have sharpened by Crocker Cutlery. All I have to say, is beyond pleased with how well the knives work now that they have been sharpened! Will tell all my "home chef" friends if their knives need some love this is the place to bring them. I always shop when I come into the store. Today was not exception, I inquired about white tea, and was given some great choices and purchased two different ones. Also, found some Hawaiian salt that I was looking for, as well as some specialty sugars. Let me now forget about the hot sauces! THANK YOU for having such a great assortment for your customers. Continues success.

Really neat place! I came to get my knives sharpened but ended up buying a bag of tea because I enjoyed browsing their selection so much. They were very helpful and kind when I had questions. I will definitely visit again!

Google
Really cute store. It is a little expensive, but I am happy to pay extra to support a local business. Would be a great store for gifts! I bought flaked salt, melon medley tea & a matcha whisk. Employees were quite kind.

Google
Great shop. The products are all fresh, and the staff is very personable. The best is being able to buy what you need, and not watch a whole jar go stale because you don't use that much in normal everyday cooking.

Google
I fond myself here about once a month and I love it. I can always find somerhing to try or gift. Wonderfully staff and a wide verity. The rewards program is fantastic too!

Google
Charming local business dedicated to all manner of spices, herbs, teas and honey. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and exceptional spices fairly priced. I’ll be back!

Yelp
The single best place in Sacramento for spices! You'll can find it all and even those things you didn't know you needed. Hot chocolate mixes, truffle salt, black and white and red peppers galore...

Yelp
Short summary: 4/5 for a hip shop that has a wide array of common and hard-to-find spices and teas, solid service, and a discount for bringing your own containers! I don't mind paying for high quality, and everything seems so, but the price to value ratio is a out of sync when comparing "basic" or "everyday" ingredients to the greater environment of spice & tea providers. More details: If you're looking for specialty spices or teas, I'd recommend going here as they have a great assortment of things that are tough to find. They're willing to find something catered for you or figure out a gift for someone else. The service was welcoming and they seem to care about their customers. There were 5 other people in the store and I browsed while waiting for the staff to finish packing up a few orders. I was close to the store today while running errands and I picked up some smoked paprika since I used a lot last night for dinner. I was pleased to see they have multiple kinds of paprika - that's always a good sign from a spice store! The main reason I gave 4 stars and not a 5 is that while the spices are competitively priced compared to many online vendors, I'm having a tough time reconciling the premium in price vs. quality difference to other local options. Could the gap really be that big? I did a smell test and I sensed a subtle difference between my current spice and the new one I purchased but it wasn't drastic. Subjective and certainly not scientific. Since it's only one spice, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that certain spices (e.g. cinnamon or oregano) might be worth the premium if it's a primary ingredient and you need it to SHINE. I'm happy to come back and update my review after cooking with the smoked paprika if it blows me away that much! I'll sum it up by saying that if you're NOT price sensitive, or you need guidance on what specific type of paprika to use in a dish, or you want to chat about how to brew the best cup of tea, then this is the spot for you. The Winco's of the world won't give you that type of advice and it shows in their prices and potentially in the quality of certain spices :). Bonus note: they also allow customers to drop off knives for sharpening - I sharpen my own knives but I am curious about the service, so I'll definitely be back in the next month to drop a couple off and I'll update my review then. I also saw a few gifts I can get for friends and we are trying even harder to stay local when purchasing things for the holidays this year. Thanks for reading my review! Stay safe out there, Sacramento.

Yelp
Walking into the establishment, I thought of it as a cute little boutique for spices and seasonings and herbs. The set up in here is very welcoming and warming. The staff is friendly and helpful. We went on a Saturday which seemed to be like a little bit of a rush hour before 2 PM. Price is vary and most items are by ounces overall you can find a lot of popular request. there are a couple of things that we asked for that they do not carry for example like milk thistle. But overall, it was a nice cozy little spot to get a good handful of the items that we were looking for.

Yelp
Amazing local shop for every cook & baker or professional. They have everything you can think of and more. From savory spices to exotic flavored sugars. You name it. The service is special. When you come in you find yourself right at home chatting with shop staff. I found cardamom extract here. I also purchased espresso sugar.Using some of these ingredients in my baked goods is by far the best. I love to bake.

Yelp
Everyone!!! GO HERE. Such an INCREDIBLE array of spices, teas, and locally made products. I've been here 15+ times to get my favorites, and my first time leaving a review surprisingly--I tell everyone I know this spot is a MUST try as there's something for everyone. A few of my absolute favorites: * Milky Oolong tea (steamed with milk in-house) * Kofte Baharat (great for yogurt-based sauces, meat marinades) * Ghost pepper powder (if you're a spicehead) * Bourbon smoked sugar (old fashioned's & baked goods!!! I've made simple syrup with this, it's incredible) The workers here are incredibly sweet and passionate about their store and their products. They're happy to answer questions you may have and give recommendations :) I love you, Allspicery!!

Yelp
Really wonderful shop, will definitely be back. This place has only been open at this location for under a year. I came in looking specifically for loose leaf tea for my partner, they have so many types sure enough, even his favorite Darjeeling. Which he said is like heaven in a warm teacup. They have pretty much every needed spice you could think of. We even found whole nutmeg. I can't tell you how many sugars, spices, rubs and seasonings are offered. The Allspicery also has incredibly reasonable pricing. I got 3 items for around 17 dollars. They also have prepackaged spice sets that will be perfect for the holidays or a gift. I would say the place feels very quaint and comfortable, a little awkward at first if the music is super low and no one else is in there but the staff is quite nice so it makes up for it.

Yelp
We were looking for real Hungarian Paprika and found it and so many other special spices here! We are blessed to have a shop like this in our city! It made the most delicious chirka paprikas! Such a beautiful red and a perfect bite to it!

Yelp
This was my first time to the newer spot in East Sac and it's much better! More spacious and great walking area, easy to find free parking nearby too. There are tons of options here and it's so overwhelming in the best way. They had some pre-packaged mini 1 oz bags of random ones and I ended up grabbing a strawberry vanilla sugar on top of what my husband needed. I love that they sell some other local goods too, and I plan on coming back here to buy gifts, and of course more spices and sugars. They have pre-packaged sets of 3 and 5 spice sets too which would be great to give! The service was great and the pricing wasn't too outrageous for such specialty items. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is an amazing store and I get Christmas gifts here every year. You cannot go wrong if you have that foodie friend who loves to cook. Or for someone who dabbles there are great "starter kits" to encourage them to try things out.

Yelp
I loved coming here when it was in the Capitol and was sad when it moved. The move was a great decision since they are able to expand their offerings. The quality and selection of spices are great and their tea selection is small, but the tea is different and good quality. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
I come here to pick up high-quality spices and seasonings for my baking and cooking. The staff is very knowledgeable and can tell you exactly which type of cinnamon, for example, will do well in baking or in cooking. I have been coming to this store for several years now, and I have never disappointed.

Yelp
This is a very cute little shop with lots of spices and teas. I got a few things including the ground vanilla which I hadn't seen before and I love having it with tea. They also have chocolate and gift sets. Great place with some unique spices and also hot sauces too that are local. Street parking.

Yelp
This review is more about trying to shop at their brick and mortar location not a testament to the quality of their products. I love supporting local businesses and the quality of the spices and products sold at the allspicery are second to none. However, for the second time this month, I just had to walk out of the store without my purchase due to the fact that it tends to be really busy in there (at least at the time I am able to go) and if you know exactly what you want, but the attendants are all helping other guests, you could wait a significant amount of time without being able to pay and leave. The staff is also not very adept at acknowledging people in the store that are waiting such as " hey there, we are pretty busy today.. Someone will be with you in one moment." That is basic customer service 101. It effectively lets the people know that are waiting that they've been seen and acknowledged. Today I waited 15 minutes before putting back my products and walking out... Last time I waited 20 before I left (I wasn't greeted or acknowledged with any kind of kindness in that visit either ) Perhaps adding another register and paying an employee to work that register exclusively while other people attend to the many customers that have questions and are unsure of their purchases would make for a more fluid and efficient check out experience. So needless to say, I will be paying the $11 shipping and ordering from them online to avoid having to deal with the in person shopping experience in the future. Such a bummer.

Yelp
I love The Allspicery. It is definitely on the expensive side, but they carry all kinds of hard-to-find spices that no one else carries. Walking into this store is like walking into a giant spice cabinet. It's neat and cozy, and it smells good. It's a cool place to bring kids who are old enough to not break things, but still young enough to be fascinated by all the different shapes and colors of spices and herbs in glass jars. Last time I brought my daughter here (before the pandemic) she said, "I never knew shopping for spices could be so much fun!" Most of the spices are sold by weight, although some are pre-packaged, or come in sets. Amounts under 2 ounces are sold in plastic baggies, while larger amounts are sold in jars, which can be purchased in the store, or brought from home. Recently, I stopped by to see if they had any Calabrian chili peppers, which I have had trouble finding anywhere else other than Amazon. They did have them, in dried and crushed form, in a very large jar sitting on a shelf near the back. The store was crowded, and it's very small, so, I kind of wanted to get out of there quickly. I ended up buying the smallest possible amount of peppers, which was the half ounce size. To be quite honest, I'm not a huge fan of the peppers, but, I have been a fan of every other spice I've bought here in the past, so I'm still sticking with five stars. As I was checking out, I noticed that there was a large selection of sample spice sets for sale. I also noticed they carry three different varieties of cardamom! Overall, while the prices are high, The Allspicery is a reliable place to find spices and herbs from all over the world.

Yelp
, Wonderful product, great service, wide selection I started going about a month ago and tried to go every Saturday morning.

Yelp
A most adorable shop with helpful workers to help you find interesting and local ingredient items. Kind of like going into a small shop in Diagon Alley, per Harry Potter game. Many items are in large glass jars and sold by the ounce and put in bags or glasses.

Yelp
Walk across the street to this place after your bag of croissant bites and Vietnamese coffee. Excellent surprise find for inspiring my next dish or brewing tea.

Yelp
This place is magical, even more so since moving to the new and expanded location. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable without being overbearing, their stock is unique and fairly priced, and the overall vibe is a departure from the hustle and bustle of a typical non-grocery market. They have quality, hard-to-find spices and items, along with cool and inventive gift items. Check them out!

Yelp
Went for the first time on small business Saturday. What a lovely store. I'm not much of a cook, but went for the teas, but ended up trying some black garlic powder. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's street parking but pretty easy to find a spot.

Yelp
I have no idea if they are open during COVID. But you can still shop with them via online ordering off their website. Allspicery.com. With everyone social distancing and cooking more at home... spice up your cooking. Support small business! Prices are reasonable. I stopped on into the brick n mortar shop about 5 days prior to the Governor's social distancing order. So glad I did. Initially before walking in, I wasn't expecting to be impressed. I was thinking inside will have the common spices & herbs that I can find in the spice aisle at my local big box grocery store. I was wrong! This place is filled with loads of uncommon varieties of spices, herbs, salts, sugars, and teas. They even had fixings to make home made root beer. Neat. The items are displayed in large glass jars on the shelves. The staff will assist you. They use paper packets. But they don't mind if you bring in your own containers. Either way, they'll pack it for you. I spoke with Heather, the owner. I asked her for a recommendation of a brine spice packet for a 1.5 pound corned beef brisket. I bought a blend she recommended. It cost about $4. ( a side note: My brisket tasted phenomenal. No one believed I cooked it, the spice blend was my secret weapon. ) I also bought a loose leaf tea blend that is suppose to help with local pollen allergies, which I don't have. I brewed it a few weeks after purchase, the tea tasted and smelled great. Salt flavors: Cherry smoked, espresso, vanilla bean, jalapeño, ghost pepper, black truffle, smoked bacon, alderwood... to name a few. Sugar flavors: Ginger, lemon, espresso, cinnamon, dark cocoa, habanero, toasted coconut, vanilla bean, bourbon smoked... & that's not all of them. #allspicerysmallbusiness #onlineorderingallspicerycom #shoplocal

Yelp
I actually get my teas from here, they offer loose leaf tea and wellness tea (mixed blend) such as coldbuster or the serinitea. I love their coldbuster, which is a blend of good things for your body to maintain immunity during these stressful times such as orange peel, rose hips, turmeric and ginger root, and you can taste the chamomile. They have all kinds of spices and specialty salt and pepper such as black truffle sea salt (great to put on popcorn!). The Allspicery is currently only taking online orders for pick up or delivery. Pre-covid, very cute tiny store to browse and very neatly organized. They are a great store to look for gifts for a chef or tea snob.

Yelp
I love the Allspicery. They have lots of spices, teas, sugars, and more that I have been open to trying in dishes or sipping tea. They do online orders where you can either pick up or get shipped to you (with a shipping fee). Love the gals that work here as they are helpful and sweet. You can buy Allspicery items by the oz and depending on what you get, the prices vary. My favorite tea here is the Serenetea, it definitely helps mellow me out at the end of the day and I always get a good night sleep. It's got a cinnamon taste that is slightly sweet for the palate. Sweet dreams is good too and has a lemon taste. All of the spices and salts I have tried - I have not been disappointed - tastes fresh and are a great boost to my dishes. I definitely reccomend coming here, they even got kits for chilli and chicken pho!

Yelp
I love this place so much! Where else can you go to find fresh spices, sugars, teas, etc? They are located right across the street from The Capitol, next to Chicory Coffee Shop. They have an abundance of spices and sugars. Everything you can think of! Everything from Ghost Pepper Salt to Bourbon Smoked Sugar to Cinnamon Popcorn Tea to Aglio Olio e Peperoncino plus all of your household staple needs! The Black Truffle Salt is my absolute FAVORITE! I come here whenever I need anything for a recipe and their prices can't be beat. Heather and staff are great! You must stop in if you've never been even if it's just to smell the spice aromas!

Yelp
Cute little spot in Sacramento the two ladies in the shop were super nice and very helpful. The drawback was the location, downtown Sacramento across from the capital it's difficult to locate as it's in the middle of a complex. They do validate parking which is an added bonus

Yelp
Just went to the store and it looks like it's closed??? windows are all covered. there's no sign of a new location... there's nothing stated about closing shop on their website. anyone know what's going on?

Yelp
Dumped my old spice shop for The Allspicery. No regrets! Several years back, when I was just beginning my transformation from a sane human into the sort of person who has fifty bottles in her spice drawer, I stumbled into a little store called Savory Spice Shop in Raleigh, North Carolina. (Savory is a lot like The Allspicery, except it's a national chain, based in Denver.) Immediately, I fell in love with the fresh, high-quality spices and became a devoutly loyal customer, even ordering by mail when I moved to New Orleans, then Los Angeles, then Sacramento, where there's no Savory Spice Shops to speak of. Shortly after my arrival in Sacramento, I heard about the Allspicery. Immediately, I was intrigued, but conflicted. My heart was firmly with Savory Spice Shop! But, one rainy day, when struck by a sudden, urgent need for annatto seed, I finally gave in and stopped by. So glad I did! The Allspicery is well-stocked with fresh, delicious spices, which are carefully portioned out by helpful and friendly staff. The selection is excellent; they have everything from Asafoetida to Za'atar, and everything in between. (Amchur! Comapeño! Epazote! Fenugreek! Filé! Sumac! Ras El Hanout!) They sell everything by weight. Bring your jars in and they will refill them for you, if you want! (And they'll even give you a discount for bringing your own container!) My favorite thing about the Allspicery is the ability to order online and pick-up in store. It's so convenient, especially because I'm the type of person who does a large order, restocking the whole spice drawer all at once. Waiting for a dozen herbs and spices to be weighed out and packaged can be time consuming, but with their online ordering system I can order and pay ahead, and pick it up later the same day. Boom! Done! Once, during COVID, they also delivered my spices to my house. That was pretty nifty and very convenient! I'm so glad to shop here and support this lovely, local, woman-owned business. I hope The Allspicery will be around for a long, long time!

Yelp
I love patronizing this local business. I like to get their pre-bagged sugars by the ounce and adding it to my coffee (or ice cream but shhh). If I was a little more savvy about spices I'd make good use of some of their kits. The staff is always very kind. I'm knocking 1 star off for the prices which err on the side of astronomical. For some of them, I'm sure it is worth it, as they have some valuable stuff. But you know the prices are high when Harry & David was charging less for crystallized ginger... and I go through a lot of crystallized ginger. For the most part though, I guess you pay for convenience. PS their ranch flavored popcorn seasoning is out of this world. And another customer remarked to me that some of the cool flavored salts they have (such as the raspberry chipotle salt I bought) would be good on the rim of a margarita, so maybe stop by if you're into mixology.

Yelp
The place is amazing! So many different spices I could spend hours in there. The girls there were so nice and really helpful. I will definitely be going back regularly.

Yelp
Wow wow wow wow wooooowwwwww!!!! IM IN LOVE! I never thought love at first sight existed until I walked into this place. I was walking to a doctors apt and passed by and couldn't help but walk in on my way out bc it's such a cute shop from the outside !!! & let me tell you from the inside it's even 10 times better !!!!! I wish this could be my set up at home but in due time. Love love loveeeee the fact everything is in jars and you're able to choose the quantity you want . Quality ?! phew phew phew top-notch! For someone who how's experimenting with new foods and spices this is awesome bc I'm able to get the amount I need without breaking the bank. Huge fan of the local allergy tea! The season has been horrible and for someone who doesn't like taking OTC meds this was an awesome find. Staff is super cute and love what they do ! Awesome attitude and really helpful , I loved that she asked for my opinion about display items .

Yelp
What a gorgeous new space! I popped in on a Sunday not long before closing & was greeted by two of the nicest gals. The shop is just lovely. This place is such a gem, we're so fortunate to have it in our community!

Yelp
I first discovered The Allspicery when I bought some of their steak seasoning at V. Miller Meats. When I found out that they were a local shop, I couldn't wait to check them out. It's a tiny shop across the street from the Capitol but they have SO many spices to choose from. The best part is getting to sample the products before you buy them. You can buy in any measurement amount (they price by the ounce). Not wanting to commit to a ton of each product, I grabbed several pre-packaged little "sample" bags that contained one ounce of each spice. I tried a hickory smoked salt, vanilla bean sugar, New Mexico chili powder, espresso meat rub, and a few others. Love this spot and can't wait to come back and try more spices soon!
google avatar

Yelp
I adore this shop. It has a vintage apothecary feel. Spices are stored in bulk glass jars and measured to order. I needed just a couple of teaspoons for a recipe and that was NO PROBLEM. There are spices in the store from around the world. More different kinds of salt and peppercorns than I ever could have imagined. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and super helpful. They offer state worker discounts and discounts on reusable containers. This tiny little shop is a gem and I feel so fortunate to work on the same block. They even validate parking, so there should be NO worries about coming downtown for the best spices in town. Open 7 days a week with more than 400 spices and house-made blends, gifts and more. Gather your glass or plastic jars and head to Allspicery. You won't be sorry!

Yelp
As you walk into this cute little Allspicery shop, you'll be flabbergasted with their spice selections. You'll be amazed, this cute little shop carry array of spices for cooking, tea and etc. Where should I begin, the staffs are friendly. And they try their best either to google or find the spice you need for your dish in the store. For example, one of friends was searching for jambalaya spice unfortunately they don't carry instore. However, the staff tried her best to google to find exactly what Cajun spice consists of for the jambalaya. If you are unable to find something you are searching for in a regular grocery supermarket, you can check out this place. FYI, they are closed on Sunday's. If you want a specific blend of spice, they go above and beyond to create a jar for you. They have cook books in the store too. You are welcome to browse to get ideas or purchase. The layout of the store is very congenial. The spices are organized in jars based on categories such as salts and peppers, veggies, turmeric, sugar etc. They have different types of salt and sugar for example sugar with strawberry or siracha. I could easily spend at least an hour going through their interesting combination of spices. My coworkers purchase their prepackaged espresso spice and they loved it. The espresso spice goes smoothly with the steak. Unfortunately, I don't eat steak or pork so that's not a perfect choice for me. However, the owner said I could sprinkle on the salmon a little but not on any other fish. It has a strong flavor of coffee and other spices. They use the coffee from chocolate fish and company. If you don't know, that's one of my favorite coffee shops. I would absolutely recommend this store to anyone who is passionate about cooking, quality of spice and the reasonable price. Oh, if you are searching for gift ideas for friends and family then don't look any further. I would certainly go back to try their Mediterranean spices.

Yelp
Amazing selection of teas. I drive over an hour to restock here! The man who works there is super friendly and polite and willing to help you out!

Yelp
We purchased an array of spices during our visit last week. There were lots to choose from and the prices were reasonable, about $3 - $5 per pouch, except for some of the spices that were a bit more pricy than that. The prices go by ounce, so it can be a bit tricky to know the exact price of the spices beforehand but I'm guessing you can ask to weigh the bag you have to make sure of the price. They have a good selection of spices and we got what we wanted for our Indian food dish and he bags have dates on them re: when they were packaged so everything seems fresh. Along with the spices, we also bought a bag of everything spice mix to make everything bagels alongside some delicious tea and a root beer mix. All of these totaled around $30 and we are very happy with the array of items they have along with the freshness of the items. Awesome store!

Yelp
Have you heard about how fabulous the Allspicery is in filling all your known and hidden spice desires? I really need to stop in here more, because I have loved it for several years now since it opened over on 11th and L. They have a smaller shop, but a wide and it seems ever-expanding selection of spices, mixes and teas. Plenty of room to browse around, and everything is arranged logically in themes. There is always a helpful staff member around who can answer questions and make suggestions for you or as gifts. I love making and buying stuff from here as gifts. You can provide someone with many exotic culinary experiences or kits to experiment with. I particularly loved the tonic water and rootbeer kits. You just boil the spice packs with water and sugar and you have an incredible syrup that makes super hipster drinks. Want that cool new herb you heard about on pintrest? The Allspicery can get it for you, but probably already has it! Really, go to the Allspicery as soon as you can, you will find a wondrous world of flavors to try.

Yelp
I was shocked how tiny this establishment was but pleasantly surprised at the variety of spices pack in this little gem. I'm a little mad at myself for waiting so long to visit this place. I wasn't looking for anything in particular for myself but this place ended up being a great local business to support when it was time to buy gifts for family, friends, and colleagues. I will definitely be making this my spot to buy my spices moving forward, even it is costs a bit more than other stores. It's so worth the quality and variety.

Yelp
A wise chef once told me that the difference between a cook and a chef is in the spices they use. Let's face it, the best meals have a distinct flavor that go beyond basic salt and pepper. So if you like to cook AT ALL, be prepared to not leave empty handed after a visit to The Allspicery. I was impressed that this store not only had the quality I expect, but also the selection of hard to find spices that I am always on the hunt for. I must admit that there were even a couple on hand here that I had flat-out never even heard of. I liked the organization in that baking spices were separate from herbs, sugars were separate from salts, etc. The chili section is awesome. There's even a small selection of in-house blended teas. Prices are measured by the ounce, clearly marked, and mostly reasonable. They have jars for purchase but also welcome you bringing your own to refill. There were even cleverly thought out gift selections and a few cookbooks for sale. I walked away with quite a haul, including pure vanilla bean, porcini mushroom powder, kala namak (black salt), smoked serrano chili powder and...get ready Bloody Mary drinkers... Sriracha salt! Definitely my new go-to shop for herbs & spices and a must visit. I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Love their selection and quality. Staff is always friendly. They have a wonderful selection of teas that are great hot or cold depending on your preference. The Sacramento allergy tea can be a life saver when allergy season gets underway.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I wanted to cook a recipe that called for baharat which we had never heard of. I googled where we might find it and The Allspicery came up. I called and learned they didn't have any but could make it! We picked it up 3 hours later. We are very pleased with their service.

Yelp
They are currently open for online orders and curbside pickup. I ordered the almond vanilla ($4.10/oz) and sactown allergy ($3/oz) teas and it was ready for pickup within 5 minutes. The teas are very flavorful and both of them have a natural sweetness so no sugar was needed. The allergy tea didn't really have any effect on my sinuses but it was still pleasant to drink.

Yelp
As you can see from all the reviews on here, this little place is INCREDIBLE! When I first walked in, my jaw literally dropped. It is like a magical little spice wonderland. It smells incredible, it is super aesthetically pleasing and the variety of spice/tea/flour/sugar options is mind blowing. Another thing I love about The Allspicery is all their pre-packed goodies! You can find everything from "sacramento allergy tea" to "pho soup packets." They also have adorable little pre-packed mini jars that have been put into categories like "italian spices" or "hipster spices." These things make GREAT gifts. NOTE: don't be intimidated! The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly--I recommend you chat with them, you can learn a lot about the history of the store and about where their spices come from. Also, you by no means have to buy in bulk. The other day I bought tiiiiny little baggies of spanish paprika and coconut sugar. Both are fantastic! Also, if you work at the Capitol, you can get a discount! PRO TIP: They have a coffee rub for meat and it is out of this world. TRY IT!

Yelp
Best place in Sacramento to stock your spice rack! It's adorable and the atmosphere is amazing. The selection is great too and they have a pick up option which I'd recommend if you're looking to grab more than 5 things.

Yelp
This place is amazing. There's so many different spices to try and experiment with, as well as the regular kitchen standbys. I've done the online ordering and pick-up several times and it was really easy.
