Went to KAPOW New Year's Eve show, paid $89.64 each for my husband and I to have VIP seating (seated at our own table close to the stage and 2 glasses of champagne each) and we were rather disappointed. First, our tickets said the doors opened at 9:30 pm. The lounge wasn't ready to let anybody in and a line grew outside. Second, I'm curious as to how many tickets were sold, because the venue was extremely crowded, to the point that even those of us sitting VIP had to crawl over others to get to the bar or restrooms. Third, for what we paid, I was expecting a bit more than 5 performers, which included the emcee and producer, and was just strip acts. Shame on me for not managing my expectations better. And finally, AllWays was the last venue I visited before returning home Tuesday morning, and by that evening, I had tested positive for COVID. I had not attended any Sugar Bowl activities, was not in any other close quarters environments, and didn't become ill until I was flying home. My local public health department said I most likely was exposed at the lounge Sunday night.
I identify with the LGBTQAI+ community and like to support community businesses. I have been to numerous gay bars, lounges, cabarets, clubs and restaurants in several cities. I must admit that both my husband and i were very disappointed that our eventng wasn't worth the money we paid. Can't give a "thumbs up" for this place.
