Haobin

"Haobin is a Chinese restaurant helmed by Chef Hu Deok-juk, celebrated as a living legend of Korean-Chinese cuisine and a trailblazer who led the refinement of Cantonese cuisine. The restaurant’s title, which means “precious guests” in Chinese, reflects the chef’s respect for his diners. Haobin boasts a vast repertoire of signature dishes, including braised whole sea cucumber with Sichuanese sauce and fried noodles with stir-fried seafood. Yet, its best-known offering is the classic soup poetically dubbed “Buddha Jumps Over the Wall,” which was first introduced to Korea by Chef Hu and has remained the icon of his cuisine. “I strive to highlight the genuine flavors of the ingredients from the freshest ingredients.” This quote by the chef carries exceptional weight although it merely reiterates the time-tested principle of culinary art. In addition to diverse gastronomic delights, the establishment also offers various vigor-boosting dishes made with seasonal ingredients." - Michelin Inspector

Our family's first visit to Seoul was nothing short of exceptional, and much of that can be attributed to the outstanding service and luxurious amenities at The Ambassador Seoul. This hotel truly exemplifies the standards of a 5-star establishment. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the exquisite attention to detail, elegant finishes, and stunning decor that set the tone for a memorable stay. Although we encountered a few issues during check-in, the staff handled them swiftly and courteously, ensuring that our experience remained seamless and enjoyable. Our children were thrilled with the family room, which featured a delightful bunk bed and a fun slide, making their stay even more special. The hotel’s pools, gym, and spa facilities are truly world-class, providing ample opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend The Ambassador Seoul for couples and families alike. If you're seeking a luxurious, high-end experience in the heart of the city, this is undoubtedly the place to stay.

The hotel itself is nice, but the staff are so indifferent that it spoilt my stay.||I booked a room as a Accor Platinum member in one of the executive rooms, so after a long flight I checked in at the executive lounge level. The check in took 30 minutes - not because there was a queue, but because no one seemed to know what to do. Was I offered a glass of water from the lounge while I waited? No. The lounge was right there, but absolutely no offer of a refreshment.||I wanted to pay for the hotel with my Accor points. The check in staff generated a code sent to my email to authorise this, but the code didn't work so he asked to see it. He took my phone off my hands (I assumed he wanted to read it more clearly) and without my permission, generated 5 more authorisation codes and scrolled through my emails and texts to access the codes. Lots of discussion with his manager, and it finally worked. ||There was a small £16 balance to pay and again, we had multiple attempts to charge my mastercard. I offered using a different card, he said no. I offered to use Apple Pay, and he said their system doesn't accept it - which was a lie because I paid with Apple Pay two days later (see below).||Not a good start.||On my last day, I went to the lounge for breakfast, and was halfway eating my breakfast when I was asked to follow a staff member to the desk. I was then told I hadn't fully paid for my stay. Because of the language barrier, I thought she said my initial charge hadn't gone through so tried calling my bank who said it did. It finally transpired that her colleague had charged me KRW1000 (USD0.70) short and she wanted payment. I really lost my rag then - through the hotel's own fault, they interrupted my breakfast to go to the reception to pay a measly KRW1000!!! This is not the treatement I expect from the hotel for a platinum guest staying in their executive room.||Just seems like the staff are given a set of rules and they don't care as long as they enforce it. I went to check out the gym to see what equipment they have, and a member of staff kicked me out saying that I needed gym clothes and shoes to use the gym. It should have been clear to anyone that I had no intention of using the gym (I just got off the plane and was dressed in long trousers and a shirt) but he treated me like a naughty school boy who tried to sneak into the girl's toilet.

We stayed at Pullman Seoul for the first leg of our South Korea trip and it was fantastic. We booked the Korean room which has a low bed with heating under the mattress which is very nice. The room is very specious and comfortable with a perfect relaxing bed and pillows. The breakfast buffet was the highlight for me! Great variety of delicious food especially the dim sum! We also went to the lounge in the evening up to the top with a beautiful city skyline view and plenty of food and drinks! There is a hotel pool and spa indoor and the urban escape outdoor pool with onsen available in the hotel. While it wasn't summer yet, it was nice to be able to relax by the pool and read under the sun! All the staff were very friendly and professional! We had 2 tours booked while we were in Seoul and they were within 30 minutes walk from the hotel to the pick up locations so it was perfect! It was also amazing to be able to see the N Seoul tower from the room and the lounge upstairs! All the 5 star hotels we stayed in in South Korea have the same rule about charging for amenities as per government policy so sadly that's just how the country operates.

This hotel is hopeless from start to finish. The check in experience was horrific. Complaints go unanswered. The staff are not friendly and are unhelpful. The rooms are excellent however. I do not believe staff should necessarily be criticised for a lack of English when I haven’t learned Korean but this is a 5 star international hotel and you cannot make ourselves understood. For example the staff pretend to not understood the word “latte” when their word is the same and all the coffee machines have it on! The air conditioning is pathetic. It stops when you leave the room and then takes ages to cool the room down. Forget it if you want it cooler than 22 degrees. It’s dreadful.

This is the worst 5 star hotel I've ever stayed at. I've stayed at other Ambassador locations (Buffalo,NY) and it was significantly better by all counts (rooms, service, cleanliness, and staff). First of all, regular amenities are provided if you provide a donation. The room itself was definitely just slapped together last minute. The coffee cups were stained, missing pods and spoons, and there was no menu indicating what is room service or not? The hair dryer was broken. And the worst of it all, the bedding was stained with some kind of bodily fluid or coffee, I have no clue because none of the staff could explain to us what the heck went wrong. Also why promote your great pool if the outdoor pool is an added service??

We enjoyed our time in Seoul, and staying with The Ambassador Seoul made our stay pleasant. However, for a 5-star hotel, I expected more in terms for services. I found out that the stay we booked (despite paying over $400 a night), did not include breakfast. Additionally, no toiletries were provided in the hotel rooms and needed to be gotten from the lobby (+ a donation was required for these). In any other five-star hotel, these basic services would have easily been complimentary. I just feel like for the price we paid, these should have been included. Additionally, there were no bellboys stationed at the front of the hotel. We brought our luggages in and out of the hotel ourselves. The front desk personnel were helpful. They were actually the only staff I saw during our 7-night stay aside from the valet drivers out front. It seems there aren't a lot of staff in this hotel. Nonetheless, the room we stayed in was beautiful and perfect for our family (since we booked the family suite with the slide.)

My stay at this hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From check-in to check-out, every interaction with the staff—from the front desk and concierge to the servers and doormen—reflected a high level of professionalism and hospitality. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient, just steps from the Orange Line subway, making it easy to get around the city. The breakfast buffet offers a wide variety of both local and international dishes, catering to different tastes. I was especially impressed by the Business Lounge Happy Hour, which featured an impressive spread of food and alcoholic beverages—far beyond the typical light snacks. It was more than enough to enjoy as a full meal. The rooms are cozy, spotless, and well-maintained, thanks to the efficient housekeeping team. Overall, this hotel truly lives up to its five-star rating.
