Wow I could not be more disappointed in my lunch. Picked up my husband from work for a lunch date - headed to Anecdote because it looked clean and cute, simple menu, which means it should be good - especially considering the 4.5 star average review - though only 30+ reviews - but it has a view - so we went.
Once we found the place (exit the garage, head left) we entered and were seated right away. The place had few tables full but for some reason we were put right next to a couple that were seemingly on a date. Dude was talking about all of his cars... anyway, strange choice of tables but whatev.
The menu had a slim selection but we weren't surprised - husband chose the tuna melt (gonna be some tasty home made cooked tuna, good cheese...right?) and I picked the Asian salad - always a good choice
WRONG!
The tuna melt tasted as if it were from a can, but made yesterday, the bread was fine, but nothing exciting. Whatever, fishy but edible. Got the fries for extra $ (seriously? potato chips included?) and they were the best part of the meal - perfectly cooked and salted - well at least the normal sized fries were - there were about 4 steak fries, then 1 huge one, and then some mishapen pieces that seemed to have been from the end of the bag.
The salad. BOOOORING. Seriously. The chicken was served on the side and was so overcooked and dry. The greens were old, with some yellow leaves included, and the dressing was inocuous. I was waiting for something to shine, but it was simply the worst salad that I have ever had. The mint leaves couldn't even save it. I ate my mandatory 8 bites and was done.
Well, at least the company was good. Love hanging out with my husband for lunch dates - but we agree, we will never come here again - I don't know where the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from. Maybe from the distant-yet-uber-clean bathrooms, or perhaps the bar upstairs is hopping in the evenings. Upstairs is also where you will find the view of the marina.
At least they validated my parking ticket so parking was free. Yay.
