Stopped by The Anecdote at Oyster Point for some drinks and bites after work—great spot! The bar has a cool vibe with awesome bay views. I had the mushroom empanadas, sliders, and a local beer—they all hit the spot. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and solid bar food. Definitely a gem if you’re in the area.

The Anecdote has a magnificently designed space and view of Oyster Point. The interior decor is reminiscent of New England rope tapestries and cushioned white-washed furniture. The dishes are above average quality California fusion cuisine, which includes the Turkey Club Sandwich, Classic Cheeseburger, Lobster & Shrimp Sandwich, Steak Tacos, Spicy Tofu Bowl, Salame Pizza, Albacore Tuna Melt, Soup of the Day (was carrot today), and salads like Quinoa Garden Bowl and Peach & Burrata Salad. When we walked in, nobody greeted us for a couple minutes, so we wandered toward some open tables before someone pointed us to a table. We chose a nicer table by the windows with a view of Oyster Point. I ordered the pizza, which was leaking oil the moment I picked it up. It had some nice tart tomato sauce, and the crust was nice and airy, but the salame overwhelmed the pizza with its saltiness. My mom ordered the Quinoa Garden Bowl with an addition of grilled salmon. The salmon had a nice crispness. The greens had a lot of long stems and not a lot of leaf. The dressing was hardly there. Unfortunately, the speaker pendants hanging from the ceiling were positioned directly above our table and they were blaring shrill highs without mids and lows. Made it difficult to have a conversation and relax with the music being so intrusive. They could have lowered the volume a good amount and still been able to provide ambience throughout the dining room. It's a nice place to stop by for a quick lunch if you're passing by South SF. Just wish the speakers were not as loud and we hadn't had to stand awkwardly at the front waiting to be seated.

Google
Excellent place, first time in SanFrancisco and the hotel we rented didn’t had a restaurant to eat breakfast and I found this place just 3 minutes away and it was great. They have breakfast and lunch, the food it’s organic and everything natural. Everything was delicious and the food it’s worth the price. The portions are big and with outstanding flavor. The waitress “Yamilette” was super nice and she gave us lots of tips from the city and recommended places to go visit.

Google
We stopped on a Friday afternoon for a quick lunch which was pleasant with the food, interior Ambience and outside view The fried chicken sandwich, salmon & meat sandwich were delicious. The price they charge is totally worth the food & drinks. They have a large dining area ( inside & outside). However their open time is limited, closes early & weekend closed. Always check their website before visit

Google
This was surprising good. It's in the same building as Cytokinetics. Parking is around the corner, just grab a ticket, park on the third floor and bring your ticket to Anecdote to get validated. The Plaza is on Level zero. The place is new. Service is great even though I did take out. It's open to the public. The Steak Breakfast Burrito was pretty good, so was the Chai Latte. I took a picture of the breakfast menu, but I believe they are open for lunch and dinner. I'll definitely come back since it has great views and it's close to work at Oyster Point.

Google
Delicious new restaurant in Oyster Point. Stylish setting and tasty food. Just avoid the coffee. $10 for a double shot espresso!! That’s 3x the price of Starbucks!

Google
The staff gets 10 stars out of five--excellent service. Nice wine. Delicious mushroom empanada. Beware, however, of the 'fish sticks'. They're actually full fried fish minus the head. Bones and tails. Not at all what I was expecting, and if you didn't like fishy fish, not a good option. It should be called 'fried fish' instead of 'fish sticks'. Overall, a great experience, but the fish left me feeling a bit nauseous.

You gotta stop if you're close by. Great food great service and great pricing! Parking is a chore but worth it in SF.

Yelp
Came here for a networking event. The restaurant was reserved for the event. We started the socials on the second floor with open bar. Drinks were decent and Hors d'oeuvres were tucked away but decent. Service was friendly. We moved to the first floor for dinner. Food was okay. I waited a bit for drink to be served (it was late and the lady was away for a bit). Overall, a decent venue for networking and socials.

Yelp
** Event review ** Our group went to Anecdote for a work event and I can't say enough about how seamless the whole process was. From initiating conversations on availability on menu, confirming details prior to the event, and the event itself was exceptional and very detail oriented. The location itself is beautiful with a view of the boats and water, the parking is effortless with a parking garage and validated parking, and the venue itself is very clean and welcoming and perfect for gatherings. The food was consistently refilled, the drinks were served generously, and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend hosting your next event at the Anecdote.

Yelp
A great spot for a group lunch. The service was the highlight, the server was very accommodating to dietary restrictions and questions about the food. The portions of the large plates were very filling. The menu does change every couple of months so that's nice. The steak was very juicy, the veggies were good too. The fish and chips were crispy and fresh. They ordered these little chocolate tarts with fruit on top were not too sweet, the perfect treat. The space was decorated super well with two floors. The bathroom is hidden on the second floor, though there are signs, it's tucked away. Overall, a great spot for lunch!

Yelp
Wow I could not be more disappointed in my lunch. Picked up my husband from work for a lunch date - headed to Anecdote because it looked clean and cute, simple menu, which means it should be good - especially considering the 4.5 star average review - though only 30+ reviews - but it has a view - so we went. Once we found the place (exit the garage, head left) we entered and were seated right away. The place had few tables full but for some reason we were put right next to a couple that were seemingly on a date. Dude was talking about all of his cars... anyway, strange choice of tables but whatev. The menu had a slim selection but we weren't surprised - husband chose the tuna melt (gonna be some tasty home made cooked tuna, good cheese...right?) and I picked the Asian salad - always a good choice WRONG! The tuna melt tasted as if it were from a can, but made yesterday, the bread was fine, but nothing exciting. Whatever, fishy but edible. Got the fries for extra $ (seriously? potato chips included?) and they were the best part of the meal - perfectly cooked and salted - well at least the normal sized fries were - there were about 4 steak fries, then 1 huge one, and then some mishapen pieces that seemed to have been from the end of the bag. The salad. BOOOORING. Seriously. The chicken was served on the side and was so overcooked and dry. The greens were old, with some yellow leaves included, and the dressing was inocuous. I was waiting for something to shine, but it was simply the worst salad that I have ever had. The mint leaves couldn't even save it. I ate my mandatory 8 bites and was done. Well, at least the company was good. Love hanging out with my husband for lunch dates - but we agree, we will never come here again - I don't know where the 4 and 5 star reviews are coming from. Maybe from the distant-yet-uber-clean bathrooms, or perhaps the bar upstairs is hopping in the evenings. Upstairs is also where you will find the view of the marina. At least they validated my parking ticket so parking was free. Yay.

Yelp
I had a great experience as always having breakfast in the Anecdote. I tried the chilaquiles which was a new item that I hadn't tried. They were delicious, the sauce is great I recommend it. The managers Yoisa and Ali are always friendly and accommodating. The service and ambiance is always great.

Yelp
It's a bit confusing finding this restaurant. Go to the end of Oyster Point and turn right into garage. Park on P3 West spaces take elevator to 1st floor and walk out door toward left to restaurant. Restaurant is aesthetic and modern. Open mon-fri 7-2:30pm and thur 3-7pm. Hopefully, they will open on weekend soon. Food was yummy and decent price. I wish the black cod was bit more pieces. Wine and beer available. Service was great and attentive. Remember to get your parking pass validate.

Yelp
I absolutely love this space, it's so clean and inviting, plus I am a sucker for a two story restaurant. I have been coming here for lunch at least twice a week for a while, my staples are the Summer Quinoa Bowl and the Fish & Chips! I recently just tried their Happy Hour and now I will be back even more! We shared the oysters, which were such a good call that we ordered a second round! We then shared the crispy Brussel sprouts and steak frites....I will dream about that meal until I have it again. All of their food is so well seasoned and fresh. Service was extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive, which is the perfect combination. I'll be back VERY soon!

Yelp
I can't believe a place as amaxing as this is only open during the work week! My family and I came here after attending a courthouse wedding the city and we went back to their place in SSF where they told us about this cute place just down the street from their house. It was right by the coast and a beautiful day relative to what it usually is on the west bay so getting there was super straightforward and we parked on the third floor of the parking garage near by so that we could get the parking validated by the restaurant. Most of my family was vegetarian for the day and this place had a whole variety of options. I ordered a fish and chips plate for myself while my family ordered two impossible burgers, vegan sweet potato tacos and yucca fries. Our meals came out pretty quickly and the food tasted fresh and delicious with the portions sizes being just perfect. I noticed on Thursday happy hours they have a special menu too which I wish I could try if I were closer to the area! If I ever come visit my aunt and cousin during a work week, I will definitely be coming back here!! What a gorgeous set up and wonderful food for all types of diets, especially vegan/vegetarians!

Yelp
This highly anticipated restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and super lofted ceilings, giving you a feeling of eating in an open-air space. Our server was very friendly and helpful in choosing what to order for lunch. Being that they are new, they have some room for improvement, however, when it comes to their actual menu and food. I ordered a salad with shrimp, and it was just so-so. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery, and the flavor of the dressing was unremarkable. My brother had a burger with a side salad, and I was surprised at the small portion size of the meal. For the high cost of the meal, I would have expected a more imaginative menu and larger portions.

Yelp
I came in with my family for lunch and had an amazing time. Staff was friendly and attentive. The inside aesthetic was visually appealing and gave off a type of waterfront atmosphere. We ordered the Lobster Roll on a brioche bun, the blackened salmon sandwich, the miso cod lettuce wraps and the fish and chips. Although the place was packed our food came out in a timely manner. Great place to check out if you're in the South San Francisco area. They also have free parking in the attached parking garage.

Yelp
Nice place. Went for happy hour and had food and drinks. The bar is upstairs and the bottom was empty but maybe it is busy during work hours
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
Came for lunch and the only tables left were outside, which was ok for us. Servers were prompt with getting us menus and also with taking orders, but it took over 30 minutes to get our food. Guess the lunch rush is too much for the kitchen. I had the fish tacos and they were tasty, but small. Surprised that $16 only gets you two small tacos and no sides. Way overpriced if you ask me.
google avatar

Bert V.

Yelp
Nice environment and pleasant service team. Wait for food was longer than expected. Lobster bisque was watery and didn't have much flavor and serving size was modest. Flatbread was good but small. All serving sizes are precious and modestly small. Burger was ordered medium rare, typical small grass fed patty, nearly impossible to cook medium rare. Overall just meh. This is a business spot for all the biotech companies in this area. Bill for lunch with service and no drinks was $100 for 2 people. We won't go back.

Yelp
Food was abundant and delicious Had the chicken sausage, eggs, potatoes and pancakes Coffee was exempliary

Jo G.

Yelp
The food here is inconsistent and often disappointing. The menu looks good and the ideas are there but the execution just doesn't stand up. The salads can be good on some days, but others they're not as good. The Asian Chicken salad is one of their best, but the ingredients are sometimes not so fresh, the portion is sometimes surprisingly small, and the chicken is always dry, unseasoned and uninspired. The quality of the salmon and shrimp varies. One day they have nice big shrimp, the next day they have mini shrimp. The sandwiches can be good when they just keep it simple, like the club or the BLT. Main dishes are hit or miss. On the plus side, the French fries are great, as are the Brussel sprouts (although sometimes too oily). Service is fine, nothing remarkable. Ambiance is overall pretty nice.
google avatar

Ricardo L.

Yelp
I have been here 3 to 4 times and the feeling is always the same. The food is OK, but never spectacular. The service is slow and often messy (they never know what the desert menu is, it takes 20-30 min for desert to arrive, and there is always a missing cappuccino). The last dish I had was a burger. It was probably the simplest (least complex) burger I have had (any additional toppings are at a cost). The BBQed bun was too Smokey such that it cut thru the flavor of the meat. The only thing this place has for is it's decor. If the chef needs tips on how to make a stellar burger, please get in touch.

Jeff C.

Yelp
It's still new, so that's why only 4 stars, seems like their process is mid-improvement. Nice food, full bar upstairs, and quiet enough to have a proper conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
The lobster shrimp roll was excellent. It comes with salad or chips of your choice. Yummy

Sukhpreet K.

Yelp
My coworker and I visited Anecdote for lunch and had a fantastic time. We enjoyed the **Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl**, with ahi tuna, steamed rice, and spicy mayo, and the **Summer Quinoa Bowl**, which my vegetarian coworker found both refreshing and filling. The meal was delicious, and we can't wait to go back!

Ted S.

Yelp
The place was and has been closed and there was no indication of this on their website or the open table reservation system. The building parking garage personnel gave us the info as we tried to park for our lunch rez
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
Really good modern style eatery. Food is very good - little touches like a tasty tomato jam pm the breakfast sandwich and fluffy perfect eggs. Fruit side is pretty and inviting. Excellent coffee. If you don't work in the building access is a little strange - park on 3rd floor and take elevator down to plaza level and restaurant is outside.

Yelp
We had the family gathering last weekend to celebrate baby baptism. In few sentences, highly recommend this restaurant for the ambiance, quality of food, service and the professionalism of the entire staff. If you need to just go have lunch or something larger, call this business. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Went on a lunch date with my husband and we wanted to try a new place that was close by to where we needed to be that afternoon, and chose The Anecdote. We were so happy that we did! Beautiful location and ambiance, the food was delicious and our service was wonderful. I ordered the Flank steak salad. The presentation was beautiful (sorry no pictures - I was so hungry!), and the toasted coconut pieces and bits of chopped pineapple were tasty surprises. I would absolutely order it again! My husband ordered the tuna melt which had the option of chips or salad on the side. He chose the salad and was happy that he did because the sandwich was a nice-sized portion. It was also served with pickles, which had to be made in-house because they were very fresh and the brine was unique with a little kick. We enjoyed them! We ordered the cannoli to share for dessert. Not overly sweet, yet creamy and tasty. All in all, we are happy that The Anecdote is here and hope that it's here for a while because I'd like to go back with some friends. One note: At first we were a little confused with the parking since parking is located in the office building next to the restaurant, and a ticket was needed. Our server asked early on if we needed parking validation which was nice because I would have forgotten.

Yelp
This place has become my favorite place in south San Francisco. I really can't say enough about this place. I come to the area often for work and this is my go to place because the service is impeccable, with attentive staff who are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to ensure your dining experience is nothing short of amazing! Whether it's for a quick breakfast or for a quick drink for their happy hour. It's a place you should check out. You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Food, service and ambiance are all great! We went on a weekday and they were busy, but the attention to all patrons are equal. We got our food fast, but the quality is superb! We even met the chef! Really great place!

Yelp
This restaurant in Oyster Point serves innovative dishes executed flawlessly. A great option for those in this area of South San Francisco.

R M.

Yelp
Such a shame not open on the weekend! Would be here on repeat! Fantastic aesthetic, great service and delicious food. Close to marina for post breakkie/lunch walk about. Interesting menu options - not your standard fare. Phew.
google avatar

Yelp
Super happy that we found this restaurant. Its been a while since I've been in the area and it has really been transformed! This restaurant is in such a great location - on a sunny day. The staff was friendly and attentive, the dining area was energetic and the bar, which we only viewed was definitely left for a future excursion.
google avatar

Kristy R.

Yelp
We went in for lunch and stayed for happy hour - oops! The salmon tacos were the best I've had in a while. To share, I can't recommend the brussel sprouts enough - amazing! Recently opened but I can see it on my rotating list of restaurants to visit.

Vernie R.

Yelp
I would recommend this place for the ambiance. I had breakfast here this morning and was very impressed about how nicely decorated it was. We came just as they opened and left a1.5 hours later and we were the only ones dining there. Given that we were the only customers, I thought the food would come faster but it took about 30 minutes after we ordered. And we only ordered 3 things. The food was flavorful but I thought plating could've been nicer. The gold utensils and the use of small chopping board as serving tray were a nice touch though. Hopefully their lunch menu is better and more extensive. Breakfast menu is limited.

Ty V.

Yelp
Went for lunch and loved the decor, the service, and the food. Great views and a nice outdoor deck. Parking was a little tricky to figure out. You can park in the parking structure just past the restaurant. It's part of Stripe. Went to level 3, which is for the public, down the west elevator, and then went outside to the restaurant entrance. We will be coming back
google avatar

Ben E.

Yelp
Stopped by for a couple beers only and was welcomed by the staff even though we showed up an hour within closing. They did not rush us and also gave us a lot of information of the other businesses opening up around the area by the same company. Very open concept ambiance and such friendly staff. We'll be back for sure to try out the food.

Give A.

Yelp
Good ambience inside and they validate for parking. Service was good, food is okay. We did take a nice walk afterwards.

Lidia M.

Yelp
worst service for a party of 10 people. Neal's arrived to the table after an hour. The worst was the manager. food just ok. horrible experience for a Christmas office luncheon.
google avatar

Hannah R.

Yelp
Recently tried The Anecdote for the first time. I loved the location and the food was amazing. The staff was also attentive and kind. I got the French fries, chicken tortilla soup, Brussels sprouts, and the vegan tacos! Honestly, everything was delicious and I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Kathy H.

Yelp
Went when they first opened and it was very good. Nice atmosphere with a gorgeous view of the Marina from the upstairs bar. Food was really good. I had the portobello burger and Brussels sprouts. Delicious! Staff was awesome. Will go back again.

Morgan N.

Yelp
My mom and I stumbled upon this gem while walking along the Bay Trail and so glad we did. We ordered the Anecdote Breakfast Sandwich and Smoked Salmon Bagel, two staples done very well, both items were sizable and filled with flavor. We asked to see the lunch menu, and can't wait to come back to try the different options. The upstairs bar has a great view, perfect place for a happy hour cocktail, which they said is opening soon. I also had the opportunity to speak with Ali who is the general manager and she was so personable and did everything to make sure we had the best visit! I can't wait to come back! Definitely make it a point to come to the Anecdote! You will not be disappointed!!
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
This place was so excellent I wrote this review while I was still in the restaurant to make sure I didn't forget anything. Service was absolutely impeccable, there wasn't a single food item we ordered that wasn't both mouth watering and visually pleasing. The atmosphere was great!! Make sure to try the burrata!
google avatar

Genesis R.

Yelp
I ate here with my mom it was really good Yoisa was really helpful and suggested great things from the menu for sure coming back!

Alice Y.

Yelp
Good food, ok ambience...somewhat overly attentive staff. I had the lobster roll - was pretty good, but not the best I ever had

Denise G.

Yelp
Stopped in with a group of friends for lunch. They had noticed it while walking that lovely new section of the Bay Trail. Beautiful surroundings, good food, excellent service. So glad we went. Highly recommend the Crispy Calamari and the side of Brussels Sprouts. Yum. They're still working on the outdoor seating area, but indoor restaurant was airy and tables were nicely spaced. We'll definitely be back for happy hour in their upstairs lounge. It's sure to be popular as more people find out about it. So nice to get in ahead of the crowd!

Maria R.

Yelp
Food was decent. I ordered the lox and bagel. The fried capers were good but definitely needed more of them and maybe some pickled red onions. Service was prompt and friendly.

Jon P.

Yelp
Stopped by to meet a buddy who works in the area. Lucky we were here during their happy hour day but bartender said they'd be expanding HH soon. Draft beer list looked impressive and cocktails were great. Tuna Poke tacos and the mushroom empanadas really hit the spot. Can y'all add sliders to the menu...? Expecting to come back soon with a larger group. Great spot!

Nancy A.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place out for a while now so finally had the chance to check it out. Parking is a bit weird - you park in the parking structure on the East side and restaurant is on the West side - fortunately it's not that far of a walk - don't forget to get your ticket validated. The restaurant is beautiful- airy and spacious lot of nice looking furniture- nice bar area. Food not so much - shared plates with my friend we had the Turkey pesto sandwich on a ciabatta roll - came with house made chips (good) and fresh pickles (also good). No flavor to the sandwich at all - and mine had two pieces of mushy tomato slices (the butt end and another slice) don't use old tomatoes in a sandwich please - just leave it out. We also shared a Asian chicken salad. Another flavorless dish - lightly dressed could hardly taste it - some dried out chicken slices on the side. Is anyone tasting the food here? On a positive note the coffee was good and the carrot cake was very tasty I loved the addition of toasted almonds on top of a very light creamy frosting. Despite my food choices I will still come back to try out Happy hour to enjoy the beautiful space and fingers crossed the bar bites are good.
