"After a successful Kickstarter campaign, pop-up doughnut company the Angry Donut put down roots with a brick-and-mortar space. In addition to (angry) doughnuts, the bakery serves other baked goods, such as cookies, babka, scones, and muffins, as well as coffee and tea." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Breakfast sandwich excellent. Donuts excellent. Coffee wonderful. We visited the day after Valentines Day. The lady working counter had an amusing story about her kid thinking the Valentines Day napkins were lame so she brought them to work. I told her to tell her kid that I really liked them. I thought it was a really nice touch to be relevant for the holiday and I enjoyed the interaction. I wouldn't say seating is limited, but we were lucky to grab a seat before everyone showed up. Really nice customers patronize this place.

Local donut shop in Newburyport popular among the locals. First stopped by last summer and was impressed by their classic chocolate old-fashioned. Crispy edges, perfect sweetness level, and just the right density. Came back recently to explore more of their lineup, but was a bit underwhelmed. I tried the Fruity Pebbles and the Boston Cream, and despite arriving not long after opening, both were slightly dry. The Boston Cream in particular lacked filling, which made it feel more like a regular glazed than a filled donut. Given the price point, I was expecting something more on par with Kane’s or Union Square, but outside of the old-fashioneds, the quality didn’t quite justify the cost. Since this is the only donut shop in the area besides Dunkin, I might come back to get more of their old-fashioned flavors, but I’ll likely skip the other varieties next time.

Lunch with a friend, very good B.L.A.T. ( blt w/avocado) on toasted sourdough. And Grilled cheese on marble. Both delicious. Deep River chips too!! My friend brought home a cinnamon roll but I passed on baked goods although they all looked wonderful. We will be back!

Google
I can honestly say these may be my favorite donuts. I'm not really a donut person, but my family and I wanted a quick breakfast. The location is perfect right across from the playground. They offer many unique and different options for breakfast and lunch. I ordered an Iced Coffee, and it was delicious. I'm glad I don't live super close because it would be dangerous. I will definitely be back when I'm in town again.

Google
Stopped in for a quick treat and coffees. A quaint coffee and donut shop offering homemade treats and drinks. Highly recommend the chai latte.

Google
Good donut shop. We got a glazed which was delicious, a sea salt chocolate that was really good, a maple which was probably my favorite, and a glazed chocolate cake donut which is the reason for the 4 stars. The cake donut was dry. I don't know if their cake donuts are supposed to be as dry as this donut was but we didn't finish it. Their regular brioche donuts are fantastic but I can't recommend skipping the cake donuts enough.

Google
Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Tried some of the specialty donuts and the flavors didn’t quite come together. The maple bacon didn’t have a noticeable maple flavor and the bacon on top was overcooked. The peanut butter cookie monster, while a good idea in the theory, tasted like the donut had been topped with days old cookies along with the crushed oreos. Overall okay, but I wish our family had gotten more bang for our buck.

Google
Their glazed and jelly donuts were really good but I personally didn't care for any of the others. I was really excited to try the boston cream and just hated the texture of the donut. They were absolutely fantastic about separating and handling the gluten free food with care. My daughter is celiac and didn't notice any issues. I also enjoyed their gluten free items more than the donuts (I like to try what she has to support her)

Yelp
Food is amazing and the service was quick. My server Devin Jackson made me feel welcomed and ensured my drink was made with the utmost quality. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

Devon G.

Yelp
best jelly donut EVER !!! This is my go to donut and it was amazing and I didn't get a crazy sugar rush after (I usually am not a donut fan because I just don't feel good after eating one!) I am also a firm believer of always getting anything banana flavored when it's on the menu and MAN this drink tasted just like a split! Wasn't too sweet and had great flavor. The apple cider donut just tastes like cinnamon sugar so it was disappointing, because no apple taste, maybe some small apple bites would help? Great patio sitting with a view of fountains and a playground to watch all the doggo!

Cherie S.

Yelp
Someone needs to teach these people what a donut is and how to properly make one. Their "donuts" are like stale dinner rolls covered in tasteless icing. The chocolate glazed is just brown bread you get in a can slathered in Icing. Unfortunately, they are in the right location where unexpected tourists are duped into buying high priced garbage.

Areeba Z.

Yelp
Cute little donut shop with pink decor. I randomly came across this place will looking for coffee. Their coffee is strong and they have so many different kinds of baked goods. A little patio outdoors and space indoors to sit. The washrooms are also clean!

Olga S.

Yelp
This has become a regular haunt of ours, it makes for the perfect weekend treat! The toasted coconut doughnut is my favorite, but all of them are good, honestly. They're made of brioche, so they're fluffy and airy, and it doesn't feel like you've eaten a ton of bricks like some doughnuts. Also the breakfast sandwich is bomb! Hits the spot like nothing else. The location is perfect if you have kids because they can frolic around the playground

Taylor H.

Yelp
Stopped by angry donut this lunchtime to check it out! Beautiful location, awesome food and some kick-a** donuts! I placed an online order because I was with my pup so I didn't have the opportunity to pop in the store but the outside was just as nice! The staff was kind enough to bring my order out for me while I was with my pup so thank you for that! I got maple bacon, fruity pebbles and chocolate cake vanilla glaze and an iced coffee. I'll definitely be back!

Jennifer A.

Yelp
They were nice enough to donate a gift certificate for a nonprofit event. It was a last minute request which is why this is a huge deal. I really appreciate them! I'm sure to stop by and get a donut soon to show my support. Local businesses rock! And those donuts look ammaaaazzzzing!!!!! Check out the pics on Yelp.

Gary G.

Yelp
I'd tried them once before with similar "meh" results, but figured it was a fluke. Flash forward to 2022, another try, Maple Glazed donut, and it's very similar: dense and stiff, with the inner texture similar to an aging hamburger bun or Hostess packaged donut, only bigger. And dry. The glaze tasted of maple but more of just sugar and chemicals. Was it better than Dunkin'? Sure, but not by enough that I can agree with all the five star reviews flying around--save those for the likes of Union Square in their prime, or Kane's, or PVD in Providence, or Holy Donut in Portland. Perfectly "okay" donuts here, I guess, and perfectly fine space. Just nothing exceptional. Bonus points for cozy seating inside and outside along a central outdoor mall area with a brick walkway. You order over the counter and they call your name when it's ready.

Mike C.

Yelp
Drove 40 minutes just to get a donut and I can tell you it was great, little expensive but that was to be expected. Definitely will be back soon.

Emma J.

Yelp
Donuts and breakfast sandwich were amazing! I was looking for donut place in the north shore and decided upon this cute shop. I was very happy with my choice! I loved the everything brioche buns on the breakfast sandwich. It's the perfect place to grab some breakfast after or before a hike at plum island or around town.

Tebbe D.

Yelp
What a trip! this place had the most eye watering tasty donuts I've ever seen. I was getting my haircut next door and my wife picked me out a vanilla cake donut that I swear to God I wanted to go back and have five more-- I didn't, but I felt like I should've. Then at the wedding we had dessert instead of wedding cake with angry donuts instead of wedding cake so I had some more

Michelle R.

Yelp
Such a cute place in a cute area. Ordering ahead was so easy. The family that runs it is so nice and helpful. The texture of the donuts is unique like a mix between cake and risen. The toasted coconut was the best of the bunch. We got egg sandwiches as well which were delicious.

Kerry M.

Yelp
Cute spot great donuts park right outside for the kids to play. Outdoor seating available.

Aria E.

Yelp
There are so many donut places now and it's so easy to compare a good and bad donut. There was a really weird after taste to this donut. The donut is also $4, which is the most I've ever paid for a donut and a bad one.

Yelp
Remember the comic The Far Side by Gary Larson? When it first came out, you and your friends would read it and laugh for hours. ("Bummer of a birthmark, Hal"). It was an amazing comic strip and delivered most every time. Creative, timely, interesting, inventive and most importantly: funny. Then Gary Larson went on sabbatical and when he came back, The Far Side was no longer funny. It was an imitation that no longer had the magic, wasn't creative or funny and you simply stopped reading. Well that's the Angry Donuts story. When Angry Donuts first came to town, we really looked forward to trying to get a spot to get donuts. They were creative, inspired, delicious, decadent; almost narcotic in nature. We were angry when they ran out before we got there. Yesterday, we went to the Inn St. location for the first time since they moved and found out the expensive way that Angry Donuts is now the Far Side after it started to suck. We bought 4 different donuts that totaled $16. $16 for 4 donuts. What we got was a doughy, flavorless items that made us Angry Customer. They didn't taste BAD. They simply had no flavor, or more accurately, it was the Ghost of Flavor Past haunting us. Sure the appearance looking enticing, but it was downhill from there. The cinnamon donut was 'cinnamon' in name only. The chocolate sea-salt donut had an echo of chocolate and I think they replaced the sea-salt with something that looks like sea-salt. The one with the big glob of jelly substance was cute but failed to provide any flavor - ANY flavor. I don't even remember the last one. We cut them into sections to share and sample, and ended up throwing out what we didn't eat after the first round. I'd estimate that we threw away at least $8 worth of Angry Donuts. Sure, there are people that go there and tell you that donuts at Angry Donuts are wonderful, but to me, they are the same people that desperately want to find the post-sabbatical Far Side comics as funny as the originals. They are living on past glories unable to move on. I won't be back.

Yelp
2.5/5 Pros: -10% off when you bring your own tupperware -Very nice staff --Cute shop Huge donuts -Two tables inside and benches outside for some seating -Parking is easy Cons: -Donuts are still buttery but now more doughy, thick, and kind of dry Shop is tight -Quick to sell-out--we got there 30 minutes past opening and they were already sold out of Chocolate Cream. Get there early for maximum selection. -- $3/donut Chocolate Glaze I think this was a chocolate yeast donut with plain glaze, but it didn't taste much like chocolate. The dough was definitely no longer light and fluffy like and full on heavy brioche. Too much for me! From previous visit: Vanilla Glaze Yeast donut with vanilla glaze. The dough was in between light and fluffy and heavy brioche which made for a rich and buttery yet still fluffy texture--almost like a croissant donut. The vanilla glaze added the perfect amount of sweetness. A super satisfying donut--you won't be able to eat too many. Chocolate Sea Salt Yeast donut with dark chocolate ganache-esque topping with a bit of sea salt. The chocolate was not very sweet, so the main flavor was salt. At previous pop-ups, they've had a Chocolate Sea Salt Caramel donut which is the same as this donut plus a caramel drizzle, which was truly incredible because of the sweet/salty combination. I hope they bring this back!! PB Cup Cookie Dough Yeast donut with the same dark chocolate ganache-esque topping as the Chocolate Sea Salt but plus caramel drizzle and peanut butter cookie dough on top. The PB cookie dough tasted like whipped peanut butter with a little sugar/salt/chocolate chips added--it definitely overtook the donut, but if you like peanut butter, you won't mind. I'm not a big PB fan, so this was my least favorite (but I'm a sucker for cookie dough so I had to give it a shot).

Yelp
Beautiful donuts! Interesting selection of flavors. I had the Cinnamon and Sugar raised donut and it was lovely! I never eat a whole donut but this one was just too good not to! My daughter had the peanut butter and Oreo donut-she said it was amazing! My iced coffee was perfect. We loved the option of ordering online and picking up without waiting. The staff were friendly and the space is really cute. My request would some vegan donut options!

Eric S.

Yelp
If you want to find an amazing brioche donut, you need to try the Angry Donut. Their donuts take 3 days to make and it is worth every minute. They have flavors ranging from vanilla glaze to fruity pebbles, and a range of chocolate donuts as well. They also serve coffee, sandwiches, and other great food. If you are angry at flavorless Dunkin' Donuts, come here and wake up your tastebuds again.

Christina A.

Yelp
I've been going to the angry donut for such a long time. One of my favorite donut spots; they NEVER disappoint! Everything is made fresh daily. Plus their donuts are massive and have some amazing flavors. They also have a cute little sitting nook to enjoy your donuts at the Newburyport location. Check them out!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
I made peace with the outrageous prices however the taste should back up the cost. The Fruity Pebbles donut was a big hit with my son, however that's the only donut that was enjoyed. I cannot explain the texture or flavor of the chocolate frosted donuts but It was awful. It did not taste like a donut and it was really weird trying to eat it. Needless to say, the remaining donuts were tossed. If you going to charge almost $30 for 6 donuts, please have them be worth the price tag.

Kevin F.

Yelp
I will say it was my first time having been here. They donuts are really good. Great variety constantly changing. They aren't too heavy . From classics to creative ones they have them . Will go back

Nancy P.

Yelp
Best donuts in MA! So fresh and delicious with a nice variety. Everything is fresh baked and the staff is super friendly.

Doug P.

Yelp
One and done, overpriced under flavored faux donut, that had a strange mouth feel. Fool me once...

C M.

Yelp
Tastes awful. Like a 4 day old donut with no flavor that tastes more like a popover than a donut

Frank A.

Yelp
Nice place nice people. The Nutella Frappuccino was nothing special donuts are good.I will go again but not going out of my way

Kelly V.

Yelp
Dry and old donuts!!! Miserable and unfriendly kids working the store. At least there was outside seating

Abby B.

Yelp
We ordered online. When my boyfriend went to pick it up the cashier was claiming we did not pay. Donuts are good but service sucks.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
I love gourmet donuts!! I typically will drive 35 minutes to the closest place that has great donuts and recently found one 20 minutes from me. The donuts are made each morning and their other foods are as beautiful as they are tasty. The price is fantastic for homemade and local... $3 a donut!! We ordered jelly filled, snickerdoodle, fruity pebble, chocolate glazed, toasted coconut and cinnamon sugar covered donuts as well as a woopie pie. We will be back!

Rebecca B.

Yelp
WOW. I'm not a donut person, but I stumbled upon Angry Donut on invitation night in Newburyport and was tempted by the donut display. Chose the glazed chocolate donut and I don't regret those calories at all. Everyone was super nice and friendly, atmosphere was cool and laid back. Great spot!

Molly M.

Yelp
I have visited the Angry Donut on two occasions. Both times I got two donuts and one other item. I had to see what all the local reviews were about. I'll start with the donuts. Although they are very creative flavors that appeal to kids and adults I did not care for the donuts at all. They were mushy and VERY yeasty. You could taste the yeast it was not a light flaky donut. Personally I don't care for them. I got a fruity pebbles one, maple bacon on the first visit and PB and J and chocolate PB the second visit. I'm just not a fan of a $5 mediocre donut. On both trips we also got coffee and another Pastry. which was a cinnamon roll and scone. Both were good. Cinnamon roll was fresh-although we could have used some butter and it was not hot. it was tasty. Scone was also very good (not amazing, but good). Coffee was good both times. They are located in a spot that was a long time business in the area for lunch and I'm glad to see a new use of the space but sad to say I was not a fan. Centrally located right in front of a small play area for kids in downtown NBPT.

Izzy W.

Yelp
we love the angry donut! my partner and i will always go here when we're in newburyport, and they never fail to amaze. the drinks, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches are incredible, and they have such a wide selection of items to choose from. today, we were given an extra cinnamon roll since the first one they gave us was too small according to the worker there! it was unnecessary but seriously kind and appreciated by us!! you already had us as regulars, but that extra treat really made our day. you won't regret going here!

James F.

Yelp
Very cool eatery, but the price of the donuts, which are average at best, is ridiculous. $25 for a half a dozen. All the donuts taste the same with different toppings. The rest of the menu seems fine.

Kristine D.

Yelp
THANK YOU. Thank you for the delicious donuts, for being open during COVID19 and for the amazing service. It was my friends birthday yesterday and her favorite food is donuts. I was able to order online and do curbside pickup. She was thrilled with her birthday delivery and her and her family loved the donuts. Stay safe and thank you again!

Madison L.

Yelp
Ever since I've tried these donuts, I won't settle for anything less! Dunkin' Donuts can't even compare to the quality of these homemade pastries. They make theirs donuts with a brioche dough which gets them extremely fluffy. I usually just get donuts when I come here, but they do have excellent coffee, and other baked goods which I'm always tempted to try, but too hooked on the donuts to really try anything else.

Shayla S.

Yelp
The products are decently good but both times we have ordered we have gotten the wrong items. Not busy at the time they put the order together.

Ilene H.

Yelp
This is a hidden little gem. The donuts are quite yummy; I had the S'mores. Three donuts and a hot mocha for $13. It was worth the try but I prefer just basic standard donut. Sometimes when a donut has too much stuff on it, it somehow loses it's ability to be a donut and becomes a small cake.

Christina M.

Yelp
There's a lot of hype and I always find myself a little disappointed. For me, every donut tastes the same. I really wanted to love this place. I'll take the drive to Kane's next time I need a donut fix.

Jessica G.

Yelp
Cute little bakery. They make more of a cake type of donut than an airy donut. Pretty darn delicious and worth a try. The decorated donuts like Twix or fruity pebbles are great for kids or parties! They have other pastries like muffins and scones too that I'd like to try.

Luna L.

Yelp
Coffee/latte I ordered was amazing. Donuts were mediocre (at best.) Frosting on donuts was very drippy/wet, and therefore was difficult to eat without getting frosting all over your hands. My family overall didn't give me positive feedback on the donuts I brought home. Unfortunately, I don't think i'll return.

Mitchara L.

Yelp
You can't say no to a huge fruity pebble donut! These were definitely a different take on the average donut. Taste more like a cake than your usual airy donut, which I very much appreciated.

Mike M.

Yelp
The best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. I got the everything donut, with bacon, cheddar cheese an a fried egg. I expected a Hampton beach egg maker egg, but no an egg with the yolk still runny! The bacon was just right too not all flubby. The man at the register even showed my the options besides regular donuts for the sandwich, such as a fried plain donut, baked plain or the everything. I got my husband the raspberry jelly donut and a cinnamon roll to share. Very pleased.. unfortunately now I'll be going out or my way for that darn sandwich in the morning. I went to the Stratham, my location

Perri V.

Yelp
I was really excited to try Angry Donut because I heard good things about them back when they were just a popup. I stopped in on my way to the beach to grab some donuts and got a jelly and a s'mores. The donuts delivered on flavor, but texture was really doughy and heavy. I can usually take down multiple donuts in one sitting, but these were a little too sweet and heavy for me. Coffee was really good though! They had some fun flavors of lattes that we really enjoyed.

Alexia R.

Yelp
Decided to give the Angry Donut a try for lunch today. I ordered The Saucy Bird and my partner ordered the Angry Turkey; both were excellent! The service was fast and the servers were very polite and friendly. I would absolutely recommend The Angry Donut to a friend.

Tiffy S.

Yelp
Tried for the first time, as a donut junky, I was not impressed. The donuts were heavy with little flavor. The vanilla glazed was dry and lacking flavor. For $4.50, I would expect them to be better.

Danni B.

Yelp
If you told me there was a better donut on earth, I'd call you a liar. The Angry Donut makes a mean donut. All are delicious. The hard part is picking which one to eat first. My favorite is the fruity pebble. Get here early, they sell out (ya, they're that good!) Didn't get in line for a donut? Don't worry, they have hot drinks and other yummy goodies as well!

Diana A.

Yelp
The Stratham store is very nice and comfortable. Everything looked yummy. I purchased donuts and a cinnamon roll. My son loved the cinnamon roll. I personally found the donuts dry and very bready tasting. Not at all what I was expecting. Some of my friends enjoyed them, and some did not. I would certainly try this again, but probably won't get the donuts

Barbara M.

Yelp
Doughnuts are delicious! Every time I go, they have new and fun flavors. I really like the chocolate sea salt one. Tried the coffee and it was okay, wish it was stronger. Last time I went I saw that they have breakfast sandwiches made out of the doughnuts, will try that next time!

Netta R.

Yelp
Best donuts we've ever had. These were a pre-father's day breakfast treat for my husband because I have a food plan for Father's Day. Of course, I tasted each one. Maple bacon a delicious surprise, sea salt chocolate to dye for.....everything was light and fluffy. we will be back. We love Newburyport and we'll add this to our favorites list

Kate H.

Yelp
Kind of disappointed in this place. Every time I go they are sold out of all their doughnuts, I understand they must get busy but what I'm talking about is if you don't get there an hour after they open - your probably not going to get a doughnut. They have other pastries you can buy but the place is called the angry donut, they specialize in doughnuts right? so maybe they should make some more?? ): this is not a mad review it is a sad review, just wanna get a good doughnut around here and not have to wake up at 7am to get one ugh
