Where to Eat Along Virginia’s Scenic Skyline Drive | Eater DC

"Known for apple butter cinnamon donuts and a must-visit since 1963, this roadside staple is just 15 minutes from the Front Royal Entrance Station; the move is a hearty breakfast (served 7 a.m. to noon) before you hit Skyline Drive, plus a dozen donuts—and maybe a tin of Virginia peanuts—for the ride." - Stephanie Ganz

The Apple House, how have we lived in northern Virginia for 30 years and never been here?!!! Wow! Just WOW! Their apple butter donuts, made fresh daily on site, are beyond amazing!!! Any orchard and farm market who sells apple cider donuts, pales in comparison to these. Simply scrumptious! We ordered lunch too. Their BBQ is the best I’ve ever had. Legit tender, perfectly sauced, pulled pork on homemade buns, in huge portions. We will be back to The Apple House. Interior decor is fun. The only drawback is there is limited indoor seating. Plenty outdoor but on a cool October midweek day, indoor was needed. We will be back. Soon!

I love this place! What’s funny is I didn’t like this place growing up. So going back after 15 years I guess there have been some updates and changes. The bar is very nice ! I also appreciate all of the mindful merchandising for all the people who are going to skyline Drive to either hike or just drive! I was able to purchase some ciders along for the ride. The donuts are just to die for that those have not changed . You don’t have a choice you need to buy these damn donuts and you need to buy enough to bring home. Microwave them for 10 seconds and just take a bite. It’s amazing. The sandwich I had was the grilled cheese brisket! The brisket was super moist and super soft and the crust of the bread was crunchy. Throw some barbecue sauce of your choice. This sandwich was phenomenal. The cowboy salad which didn’t look appetizing, ended up being one of my favorite things there! Highly recommend it!

Google
We visited her June 21, 2025 for lunch. It was delicious food! Great Reuben and Kids BLTs. The Apple Cider Donuts were delicious. You can even watch them being made by a little machine behind the counter. They have the coolest shirts, socks, hot sauces, signs and many more amazing items. The restraunt is located in a quieter area. Definitely a must see or even worth a detour for the experience!

Google
Pros: - Reliable quality. - Few people. Cons: - Long lines and long wait. - Minnimal parking. My experience: Service was unnecessarily long. I waited 1 hour for an average bacon cheeseburger. I also want to point out that the donuts are overrated. They are slopped with cinnamon sugar and dry on the inside. Since there are mostly good things about them I'll get them again in case I got a bad batch. Recommendation: If you're in the area it's a nice spot to go to. Overall it's similar to a poorly executed Cracker Barrel.

Google
You have to stop here. This place has it all. The food is simply delicious. Sit down or take it with you. You will enjoy every bite. Maybe you just want a potty break and to look around the gift shock. Whatever the reason, take the time to stop, walk in, and see what catches your fancy. Sit in the bar next to the fireplace or on the other side of The Apple House for a larger menu. The salads and BBQ are great but do try the absolutely fantastic fried pickles and hush puppies. I love their BLT, Turkey BLT, fried chicken, chicken tenders and potato salad. In fact, the only thing I cannot recommend is the apple butter donuts. This has become our tradition to stop here going to and returning from the mountains. I'm completely confident it will become one of yours as well.

Damien P.

Google
Loved the experience here. GF brought me out to the mountains for my birthday for canoe trip down the river. We stopped here for breakfast and we came back for lunch on the way home. 10/10 recommend on your travels. Ps the donuts are 🔥

Debbie W.

Google
Awesome apple donuts and blueberry loaded pancakes. Really enjoyed the gifts shopping. Keep in mind you order first, find a seat and then they'll bring your food to you. It's busy. Seating I side and out on the patio.

Amelia S.

Google
This place is not just a restaurant. It is an experience. If you're in the area, you have to come here. The people are amazing. The food is amazing. They have lots of, farmers market type items. It's just the best.

Yelp
I'm so glad I was on a search for some apple cider donuts because it led me to one of the best burgers I've ever had. We thought we were just really hungry the first time around so we came back to try again, and it was even better the second time. I ordered the regular jumbo burger, and added cheddar cheese, jalapeños, onions, and pickles to it. The toppings were all so fresh, but the star of this burger is the beef patty and the brioche bun that holds it together. The beef patty is some of the best freshest beef patties I've had, and it was SO good. The quality of the beef patty is unrivaled to others I've had, and basically tastes like a really good cut of steak (but ground up into a patty). The brioche bun has a slight undertone of sweetness that complements the beef patty so well. Then you have the pickles that are just fresh and delicious--not too sour, not too sweet, all the other toppings, and the mayo for the finishing touch. We don't live nearby, but when we crave a burger next, we will most definitely make the drive over. The fries are just regular, but I think it's complements the star of a burger well. We've also had the coleslaw and potato salad which are just okay but they do their job. The collard greens were delicious and fresh. And the Mac and cheese was decent as well. The pork bbq sandwich was overwhelming because it had so much meat. For the meat lovers, it's perfect, but we ended up taking half of the meat out. Cooked and seasoned well, but it was just okay for us. The star, again, was the burger. And back to the apple butter donuts (the original reason I came here), I was on a search for a really good apple cider donut, and frankly I think we like the Great Country Farms' better (we tried so many in the area this season). We originally purchased the half dozen and ate it later when it got cold, and it was so covered in cinnamon sugar we had to wipe off what we could get off. It was way too sweet. Then the next visit we ordered one to have immediately. The warm fresh donut definitely was much better, but still way too sugared, but you could taste that apple butter flavor better. Besides the overload of sugar, the donuts kept falling apart and wouldn't hold its form. The inside kept separating from the outer "shell" of the donut which made it a messy treat. But overall still a good donut when fresh. Like others mentioned, this is a restaurant within a shop. There is a bar area and a dining area off the sides of the central "shop" portion. They have a bunch of sauces, treats and snacks, and a random assortment of things. Great for browsing, but there was nothing we ended up buying. There's outdoor and indoor seating. And the lines and wait for food definitely can get long, but that burger is so worth it. We got lucky with seats each time (order at the counter and seat yourself situation, and staff comes with the orders to the dining area calling out your order number), but easily could be a wait for tables. GET THE BURGER.

Yelp
I stopped here on the way to Linden Winery for some donuts and apple cider. The line for food was long but one of the employees came to let me know that they have fresh donuts by one of the other registers for an express checkout. I ended up doing that instead. The donuts were 9/10! Very good. The employees were very nice and helpful. The ambiance was what you would a "side of the road" store/restaurant. I would definitely recommend anyone in the area stop by!

Yelp
On the way back from camping this summer, the host said The Apple House was a must try. I'm going to start reviewing my restaurants like I'm dating. If this was a first date I'd think, dang this would have to be a long distance relationship. Not sure I'd drive all the way to come here often but if in the area I'd make a stop again. Reminded me of a faster version of Cracker Barrel. It was a group of us and we all stopped. You have to pay and then find a seat, it definitely stays packed. We got lucky to get a table! I could see why you'd maybe want to take your food to go since seating is limited. Service was great! Friendly staff! Let's get into it! Apple Butter Donut - They sell and ship them because of popular demand. A must try. #1 and #2 did not disappoint! Would return in the area. Is Apple House the One? Maybe if it was closer!

Yelp
Stopped by on our way to Luray. Staff were friendly, pretty big on the inside. Pub/bar and store all in one. The food was very fresh and delicious. Apple cider donuts are a must try! Hush puppies were also great.

Yelp
Took a trip to Shenandoah National Park and was recommended to stop here for breakfast. Nestled inside a charming rustic mini-market stocked with jams, apple butter, fresh fruit items, and more, this spot is no frills but serves up a classic American breakfast and one of the best warm apple cider donuts I have ever had. The atmosphere: You order at the counter, then grab a seat while they bring your food out. The seating area is small but cozy, perfect for a quick bite before heading out. The food: I had the Sausage Gravy & Biscuits with home fries. The portion was generous and everything came out hot. The food was good, not the very best I have ever had, but still tasty and fulfilling. I also liked that they offered a variety of sauces and spices, including several BBQ options, to customize your meal. The service: Fast, friendly, and efficient, exactly what you want for a breakfast stop. Overall, great prices, hearty food, and donuts worth coming back for.

Yelp
One of the places that regularly came up as a "must try" when in the area was The Apple House, so of course we made a pit stop on our drive home. We chose to take out from their food truck because their restaurant was packed and enjoyed our lunch at one of their picnic tables conveniently located near the parking lot. Their chicken was nicely breaded & fried, not dry in the least bit. I personally prefer a spicy Nashville chicken, but the flavor overall was good! The donut that's put the place on the map was alright; a bit difficult to beat a cider donut from upstate NY though!

Yelp
We stopped for breakfast at the Apple House on the way to Shenandoah National Park. It offers a fun, down home atmosphere, though the food is only so-so. Seemed expensive, too; $42 with tip for breakfast for two. In addition to the small restaurant, there is a cool country store with food items, clothing, and other odds and ends. There is a very nice looking pub there, too. I would love to check that out on a future visit. A nice place to stop, but I wouldn't characterize it as must-do.

Yelp
Donuts Donuts Donuts!!! Did I mention Donuts! You MUST GO if anything else for their fresh Donuts! Delicious!!! Their breakfast, Lunch, and dinner is YUMMY as well (yes, we ate there for ALL three meals) Everything was freshly made to order. The staff was nice and patient as we decided ALL the things we wanted. Also, I can not forget to mention the store attached has Every and ANYTHING you could think of stickers, shirts, mugs, you name it for gifts and souvenirs (send the husband to the car you may need a minute or two)

Yelp
As we were packing up from our camping adventure, the host of the event suggested we stop by The Apple House on our way home. He spoke so highly of the apple donuts, apple cider and their breakfast, it was a no brainer to hit this spot instead of our original plan of dining at the "Waffle House", which we always enjoy. Although we didn't partake in any of the apple offering, we did however order breakfast. It's a mix between self service and full service. You order and pay at the register and then it's served to you after you pick your own table. The process is a little clunky but it works. We initially was given the wrong food but they quickly fixed the mistake. The food was good but her blueberry pancakes were outstanding. She said the best she's ever had and I'd say tied with the best.. Lol! I would describe the Tha Apple House as a more "mom and pop" version of The Cracker Barrel. It has a loaded store area where you can find any sauce and spice your heart can desire but the dining area is rather small but it does have a few outdoor tables that you can take advantage of. The Apple House is definitely my kind of place and next time, we're getting those damn donuts.. Lol!

Jimmy L.

Yelp
Must check out! What an awesome store. So much random stuff here, u wasn't sure if I was at the right place. I came just for the donuts, but there is literally everything here!
google avatar

Yelp
Was golfing out 66 west and stopped in the Apple House. In addition to amazing Cider Donuts made fresh on site, they also have very good food. BBQ Pork Sandwiches, burgers, brisket grill cheese and steak and cheese are among the tasty options. There is also a a gift shop and a pub like area with a bar in the building. Stop by grab some fresh cider donuts and have lunch. The Apple House is right off exit 13 on 66. It's a great find if you have never been there and your taste buds will thank you.
google avatar

Laura W.

Yelp
This place has something for everyone. Great food that always comes with a long line. If you don't have time to wait, check out the amazing gift shop. And the hidden bar area, where you can get a snack and is usually much quieter than the restaurant. (Can u really call it a restaurant.... Counter with tables?) It's worth the pause from the interstate. However.... If you are in desperate need of a restroom, this is not the place. There is only one bathroom for women and one for men. The lines can be just as long as the food counter. Don't forget to check out the great local beers and ciders to go in the make your own packs.
google avatar

Leah C.

Yelp
So I've never taken a photo her cause everyone eats the food too fast. Let's put it this way.... I live an hour and a half from the Apple house and if I am anywhere near it is a special detour stop to go to. This last trip we drove an hour out of our way to go and guess what?! It was worth it. I got the brisket grilled cheese and was a pound of brisket on delicious bread for 14 bucks ... can't beat that. Everyone is always super friendly and wonderful. The donuts we always buy at least a dozen to share with people. If you aren't going to Apple House.... What are you even doing with your life?
google avatar

Jackie V.

Yelp
Got the cinnamon donuts- absolutely scrumptious! Parking lot is the wild west but worth it. Pro tip get the donuts from the cafe and pay at the other cashier.
google avatar

Mat G.

Yelp
Pretty good bbq sandwiches and banging apple cider donuts! This place has America written all over it! Their country store is really excellent too!
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
We stopped here for a quick bite after having apple donut cider at a cider. The reason for this was the apple cider donuts. I had the jumbo pulled pork sandwich, hush puppies and wings. I enjoyed my meal. My wife had fish, which she didn't really like and enjoyed the coleslaw. The service was good and it's a cute country store. Nice experience.
google avatar

Caroline K.

Yelp
Such a cute stop not far off the highway!! Really delicious baked goods. We got the apple cider donuts and they were amazing. They have so much premade for you to get quick. Also have fountain drinks and coffee machines. Their Christmas market portion of the store was so adorable with lots of gifts and trinkets.

Yelp
I had to stop here on the way back to try out the famous apple donuts. The establishment has been around for a long time and it's such a cute spot. Very rustic. You order upfront and then bring the items to your table. They have vegetarian options but they are very limited. Their burgers are made from bison and I did not try it because well I wasn't feeling too adventurous. We opted for grilled cheese and fries and yes we did the chicken tenders for the kids. If you have fries with the kids meal there is an up charge on $1.99. The rest of the sides are no charge. We opted for the fries and baked apple. I purchased the famous apple Donut as well. The person taking the orders was really friendly and answered all my questions with professionalism and a smile on her face even though there was quite a line of people. The tables are rustic and they look into the road. They are filled with bottles of ketchup, barbecue , jams etc. The food- the grilled cheese on white was crispy and nice. Nothing to write home about but yes it was nice. The fries were crispy too. The chicken strips were crispy and my son enjoyed it. The baked apple was nice but I'm not sure my kids liked the texture. The donut was nice and light. It does taste very fresh and not too sweet. They do sell larger packs of donuts but one was enough for me. The restaurant has a store too and you can buy a bunch of cute gifts, snacks, spices etc. Overall a pleasant experience and I will def stop here again to possibly try something else on the menu.

Yelp
We went to the Apple House the very last week that the fall leaves were popping for the scenic drive. The Apple House was crazy busy. One of their fryers had gone down. Lines were long and crazy and I thought a cashier and customer were about to fist fight over having to throw out outside trash. It was wild. But WORTH IT! I've had donuts all over the United States and no apple cider donut can compare to the Apple Houses! It's divine! 10/10 would recommend. It was worth waiting for. The food truck was delicious too. I would wait hours for those donuts. I would drive hours for them too (and did). So dang good!
google avatar

Anne C.

Yelp
Great service and even better donuts. Perfect stop on the way through town. I also had the burger which was also very tasty
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in this past weekend for their legendary apple butter donuts! The attached restaurant was not open but their early morning cafe was. We came in around 8am on a Sunday, I was surprised by how busy it already was inside. We ordered coffees which you can make yourself at their coffee bar, breakfast sandwiches, and 6 donuts. The donuts were warm, slightly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The sandwich was delicious I loved how soft and chewy the bagel was. The interior has a cabin style vibe with picnic tables by their indoor cafe. We had a great time exploring their store, they carry great items for gifting. Lots of baked goods, sweets, apparel, and cooking sets. They carry gag gift hot sauces and provide the option to taste a lot of them. I highly recommend stopping in to the apple house if you are ever in the area!
google avatar

Katherine A.

Yelp
The Apple House is a locally owned popular breakfast and sandwich restaurant for a reason. The food is delicious. Their Apple Butter donuts melt in your mouth. They are buttery, sugary, cinnamony circles of sheer delight. There are two restaurants inside. We went to the one serving breakfast and sandwiches. The other side has a more elaborate and fun menu, but we didn't learn about it until we'd ordered. You order at the counter, pick a table and they bring the food out. The place is not fancy but comfortable. The servers are friendly and work hard. My husband had an egg, hash brown browns and biscuit breakfast which was fantastic. Portions are generous and eggs cooked perfectly. The biscuits are freshly made and flaking. I had a daily special egg salad sandwich with cole slaw. The sandwich was huge served on the most delicious marble rye bread. The sandwich was so big that I only ate half. Their cole slaw is delicious. It's not a mayonnaise based slaw, but a marinated pickled slaw. My brother had a brisket sandwich which was really good. The meat is tender. The place is popular with weekend travelers and gets crowded. The parking lot is a hot mess. It's crowded, tight and poorly laid out. There is not enough parking on a busy day. There are not enough restroom facilities. There is one bathroom for men and women. I waited almost 30 minutes in line. There is a gift shop that offers some local merchandise, tee shirts and trinkets. If I returned, I would eat on the south side as the menu is more interesting. The food is delicious and worth the hassle of the parking.

Nancy R.

Yelp
The Apple House is a wonderful place to stop on your way around the sights in Linden, VA. The charming store is full of Virginia Delights including nuts, sauces and wine that will make your trip more pleasant. The restaurant serves a variety of appetizers and they are all good. Don't leave without some Apple Cider Donuts. You'll come back for more!
google avatar

Lili D.

Yelp
Tried the egg breakfast sandwich today. Had a lot of different options between bread, meat and cheese. I got it with sourdough, country ham and pepper jack, and it was great.
google avatar

Jana L.

Yelp
What a hidden gem just off the highway - not fancy at all but a wonderful pitstop to stretch your legs, get some grub, local brews (or wine) and dessert to go - Seriously ... you must be made of stone if you can resist the smell of those freshly baked apple cider doughnuts! I am not even a doughnut fan but man was that smell irresistible and they were absolutely delicious! The place is a maze and filled with all sorts of odds and ends to look at while you meander from the food side to the bar side. Honestly it was just a fun, unique place to explore!
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Had to stop at this cute spot when driving the Shenandoah Valley! Eat in the bar for a better sit down experience. The cinnamon apple cider donuts are amazing and take-home worthy. We bought a dozen to take to my brother and his family. I also had the apple cider slushy with cinnamon vodka...whoa! Delicious and fun. Ordered a tasty chicken harvest salad, so while they do serve bar food, I was able to fine something light and healthy. Also purchased apple butter and pumpkin butter as gifts. Chef's kiss on toast or bagels! Perfect Fall stop when enjoying the leaves!
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
This food was good. But the person running the register was frankly rude and acted as if they would have rather been someplace else. I also believe that she overcharged us based on the menu price and the price we were charged for things. 2 brisket grilled cheese, a burger, sides and drinks were over $75. The donut was gross and we had to ask for it bc it didn't come out with our other stuff. We were traveling through this area and needed a quick meal. I am pretty disappointed in the service and being overcharged in a way that felt deliberate based on the counter person's attitude. I can't say I recommend a return here because of it.
google avatar

Marissa W.

Yelp
I thought this place was super cool. The food was pretty solid, we got breakfast etc. Potatoes could have afforded to be cooked a bit more. But the whole shopping experience and the pub aspect in the back was really cool too. Tucked away where all areas felt different. For what it is I say five stars! We were coming from out of state so it was a welcome experience.

Kathy V.

Yelp
The place was packed and a very long wait for food. By the time it arrived, it was lukewarm. The donuts are amazing, the best in Virginia. I won't bother eating in again but if I'm in the area, I would definitely stop for the donuts.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
This place will always have a soft spot in my heart for having some of the best cider donuts in the DMV- it's surprisingly hard to find good ones and these are my favorites, they're always soft, fresh, and flavorful. It's about an hour out from DC and well worth the drive! The store truly has a bit of everything, but my favorite shelves to browse are the local treats- there are housemade jams, jellies, salsas, fruit butters, and syrups in a wide range of flavors, as well as other made in Virginia products like peanut assortments. There's also an impressive collection of hot sauces, some of which are available to sample. We dined here twice (once on a quiet Friday evening and once on a busy Monday afternoon), both times on the more casual side on the left side of the Apple House. The right side has a more full-service style restaurant with a bar. The food is classic and delicious comfort food that we enjoyed both times. I will say it gets pretty hectic at peak hours- on Monday afternoon, we had to wait half an hour for one grilled cheese brisket sandwich. It's really nice and cozy if you're there when it isn't too busy, but I highly recommend ordering ahead with their online ordering system if you're in a rush.

Yelp
Busy local business. Tasty apple products. Famous for their doughnuts. Bar fare entrees and indoor and outdoor seating.

Steffanie A.

Yelp
I was recommended to check out this spot. I had the half a dozen donuts and apple cider. I wasn't too much of a fan for the donuts. I know people go there for the donuts but it was just really sweet. However, the apple cider was AMAZING. It tasted like apple juice which I loved. Not your typical apple cider which I tend to put in baking instead of drink. Hopefully I come again to try the restaurant or the things in the market place.

Liz N.

Yelp
Amazing food like soooo amazing! We loved the gift shop in there too:) service was so friendly and the prices were great!

Yelp
OK. This is the place for Apple Cider Donuts. Is it a bit far from the NOVA/DC area? Yes. But, it's worth a trip to sample these. I bought a package of six to take home, but needed to sample one in the parking lot. They were moist and full of flavor. A winner! And if you are looking for more, they do have a couple of restaurants inside. One that focuses mostly on breakfast (and it's where you buy the donuts). The other spot on the other side of the establishment offers more of lunch/dinner options with a bar. And of course, in the middle is their general store where you can find all sorts of knickknacks. Definitely worth a trip!

Jeanne B.

Yelp
A special place to meet, have something to eat and browse the shop. Its very pretty at Christmas too.
google avatar

Theresa E.

Yelp
Man this place is awesome parking lot is hopping when we pull in. Get inside and it's cramped packed and everyone is doing their best to make everyone happy. I got the bbq Mac with hush puppies and my son got it with fries. The food 10/10 recommend. The donuts are something they are known for and let me tell you there is a reason they are the softest most perfect cake donut I have ever had. A perfect end to a weekend in Virginia!
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
The Apple House Restaurant & Gift Shop is a go to stop on the way to Shenandoah National Park. Great diner style breakfast and a reasonable price. While a little too sugary for me, the apple butter cinnamon donuts are very tasty and worth a try. The gift shop is focused on Virginia products including peanuts, hams, jellies/jams, apple butter, wine, cider, craft beer, and wine. Nice selection for a small store.

Yelp
Came by after hiking Old Rag and this place was just what we needed. The jumbo pulled pork sandwich was really solid--tender, flavorful, and a generous portion. The sides were great too. I had the brisket sandwich as well, which was fine but definitely not the highlight. They had a nice variety of good ciders on tap, and the bartender was super chill, which made the whole experience even better. Came back the next morning for breakfast, which was actually really good--especially the sausage and pancakes. Definitely hit the spot after a long day outdoors. The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming. There's also a big gift shop with local goods, snacks, and souvenirs--worth checking out while you're there. Great spot overall. I'd come back again for sure next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
A cute place where you order at the register while watching the food being prepared. Lots of shopping and nick nacks to look at before or after you eat. We came for breakfast and we're so pleased. First the apple butter donuts!! It came hot and was amazing. We contemplated taking some to go. We had the sausage and gravy and the egg breakfast plate with pancakes. I highly recommend the pancakes too! Great little spot to get your breakfast.
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
Come for the fresh donuts (so good), and looking around the shop for quirky stuff. But the other hot food is just average and isn't all that cheap. Service was friendly, there are a bunch of tables inside to eat. We had a breakfast sandwich with sausage ($8), and sausage gravy with biscuits and homefries ($9). The sandwich was fine (can easily replicate at home), the biscuits were dense and chalky, the gravy was thick and lacking flavor, the home fries were essentially roasted potatoes with little texture or seasoning I'd skip breakfast and just get warm donuts
google avatar

Tammy T.

Yelp
The food and service is great. There's a cute dining area with a very nice fireplace. Lots of interesting things to purchase and the most delicious apple cider donuts!
google avatar

Billy T.

Yelp
I came by for lunch with my friends after Luray upon a recommendation and had a good experience! I ordered the jumbo pork sandwich with green beans and apples as a side. The food came out quickly and was wonderful! It definitely wasn't the cheapest, but you do get what you pay for. The apple cider donuts are also delicious and I'd recommend trying some. One gripe I do have is that they almost make you tip even though there aren't any servers (you order at the counter). The payment interface makes it tough to not put a tip.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped by here coming from a winery. This place has a lot of stuff inside. I got the apple donuts and my lawd they were a 5/5. My friends ordered fries and they were fresh and amazing. The service was amazing! If I lived close I would be here daily .

Yelp
They tried to give my family food that was handed to another customer and had left the restaurant 20 minutes prior. They expected my family to accept that food and the worker huffed that we wouldn't accept it and walked off. No offer of a refund. No offer to remake our food. Refused to apologize. Terrible customer service and not a care was given. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Yelp
We were driving to Shenandoah National Park, saw this restaurant as we were driving by, and after looking it up, had to stop for lunch and donuts on our drive back. We had to get the Apple Butter Cinnamon Donuts... and oh my god. These donuts are incredible. Such great flavor, fluffy, and moist. We bought a six pack, and it wasn't enough. Wish we lived closer so we could come back for more donuts. We read such good things about the pulled pork sandwich that we had to get it for lunch. Such tender pork with great flavor. A delicious sandwich. We shared it between the two of us because we weren't quite hungry, and that was pushing it. If you're hungry, definitely not a sharing sandwich. But great quality and well-worth the price. They also have DELICIOUS bottle ciders here. They had 3 pre-bottles flavors while we were there, and I bought one of each to bring with us. I believe they were like peach, blueberry, etc. I would've bought more to take with us if we didn't have a flight so soon after visiting. Only complaint about here is the wait time. They were SO behind on the orders that we waited over 40 minutes for our sandwich, and it wasn't busy when we showed up. Nearly every table was taken by people waiting for their food. So unless they've improved on their times, be prepared to wait for any prepared food. Worth the stop, just be prepared to wait.

Yelp
The perfect place to get breakfast. The egg sandwich is so good! And I love all the shopping in the store. Great stop to pick up some unique gifts!

Yelp
Stopped in for a late lunch around 3 and there was only one other table. We got a grilled cheese and a Mac and cheese with pulled pork. I also grabbed a half dozen apple cider donuts. We ordered at the counter and chose our table. The drink station was very well equipped! I could have made a lavender iced tea if I wanted. Very swanky. The food was rich, comfort food and the portions were sufficient to large. I enjoyed browsing the gift shop attached!

Yelp
We were last here over 20 years ago when we lived in VA. Today, wow, it's expanded so much! I do miss the display of donuts moving around the large oval conveyer as they cook, but their apple butter donuts are as amazing as ever. Brought 2 dozen home with us, so glad we made the trip back!

Yelp
The food here is AMAZING!! Ordered two burgers, a cheesesteak and chicken fingers and everything was tasty. They cut their fries in a swirly shape, so fun to eat :) We did also get the apple cider donuts and those are always yummy!
