Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: April 29 | Eater NY

"I may not be good at bowling, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love it, and on a recent rainy weekend friends and I stopped by the Ark Bowl in Arkville, New York, which specializes in barbecue; feeling wary of sticky hands and bowling balls, we went for the more compact Nashville fried chicken sandwich ($15) instead, which was a solid snack when paired with a frosty beer." - Eater Staff

We took the short walk Saturday night from the nearby Margaretville Motel in search of food as the reviews actually looked better here than other places to eat within walking distance. If I could give 6 stars, I would. We bellied up to the bar and were welcomed immediately, even though the bartender wore many hats and was dealing with other patrons, bowlers and a pinsetter on one of the lanes. The energy felt very good in here. They carry some tasty local craft beers along with the typical Switchback, etc along with an interesting menu. Food came out incredibly quick and was amazing. Not just good. AMAZING! We got a chance to chat with the cook and server and not only are they both total pros, they're really nice people, too. This chef won't be here forever...that's for sure. Get in here while the getting is good!

The food, the cocktails, and the bowling are all individually good enough reasons to recommend this place with my full chest. All three together make Ark a true gem worth coming back to again and again. The chef and the bartender are genuinely masters of their crafts. Extremely reasonable prices, incredible food, killer drinks, and classic retro bowling.

The prices were very reasonable. There is both indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting.) The wings were great and good sized. The tables were made out of old bowling lanes. This place has a lot of character and history. Check it out

Take your score by paper as they used to do; slow down and pace yourself; the balls are aplenty. The food has a polish that only a chef with taste understands. Enjoy your time upstate at the hometown hero.

Great spot, really well kept and run by a friendly bunch of chaps! We didn’t eat due to the kitchen not serving that night which was disappointing as we’d seen so many good reviews but still didn’t detract from the venue! If we’re ever back in town we’ll stop by again!

Best place to bowl. Full on retro vibe went on a 4th July.

This place is plucked out of time. If you like old school authenticity and a really vintage aesthetic, Look no further

Visited this nostalgic bowling alley & BBQ. At 1st glance it brings you back to the simplicity of the past. Once inside it didn’t disappoint!!! Classic lanes, manual score card, settings, etc. I only wish more places were like this! Customer service & food was a HIT!!! Support local business! You won’t be disappointed!!! Will be back again soon to enjoy it again. 🎳
