Wow. This place is so overpriced.
The owners should realize that the people who enter their store are often collectors, and might know the market rate for items that they are collecting.
Walking in here with a group of friends during a Junction holiday market weekend, we were greeted by a woman (clearly one of the owners) who was very friendly, at first. The longer we stayed, the more we noticed the random, salvage-y condition of the items throughout, and this owner walking around defending the unexpectedly high prices to anyone who seemed confused.
We saw an excited customer flipping through a box of stereoscope cards on the "$10 or less table", grabbing a handful while noting aloud to her friend that they might be $1-2 each in their condition (keep in mind that they were all bent, eaten away at or stained). This owner barked at her "they are NOT $1 each! They are $10 each! They are over 100 years old!". The customer immediately shrunk away and put back everything she was buying. She said meekly "I know how old they are. Um, I collect stereo cards."
Just because something is old doesn't mean it is in good resale condition. This is the problem with the direction that thrift/vintage is going in these days. It used to be that still-usable items in good condition would go for a reasonable price. Now, it's ANYTHING old, even if you need a tetanus shot just to hold it.
Best of luck to this store. Hopefully they make nice with rich people who don't mind paying hundreds of dollars for rust couture. Try Williams or Door Number 2 in the same vicinity if you want reasonably priced antiques.
