The Artisan Brings Casual Counter-Service Eats to the Arts District - Eater Dallas

"The Artisan is a new fast-casual restaurant that just joined Stephan Pyles Flora Street Café and Asian-fusion restaurant Musume in the Hall Arts building Downtown. The new Arts District eatery at 2330 Flora Street, Suite 200, offers counter-service eats dreamed up by Executive Chef Jones Reeder within “upscale” and “modern” interiors. Plus, an upper-level terrace with a bar offers views of the sculpture garden below. Cuisine is billed as “global” with “regional flavors” including a sofrito marinated salmon, shrimp scampi with linguine, pecan smoked beef brisket, carne asada street tacos, and pad thai chicken sauté, to name a few entrees. Display cases feature sides prepared daily like prosciutto, pear, and gorgonzola flatbread, paninis, and sides like mac ‘n’ cheese and potato au gratin. Grab and go packaged offerings include sandwiches, salads, and pastries. The Artisan Terrace Bar will serve up cocktails on Friday and Saturday evenings including a signature martini made with fresh strawberries and balsamic, a mule infused with jalapeño and cilantro, and a vanilla spiked old fashioned, as well as wines and local craft beer. The Arts District can be a tough market for restaurants given that it’s largely deserted unless shows are drawing crowds there, which reportedly lead to Proof + Pantry’s demise earlier this year. However, its fast casual concept might be just enough to set The Artisan apart from other eateries in the area. The Artisan is now open for business and will celebrate its grand opening on September 22, 2018, from 6 to 10 p.m. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; The Terrace Bar operates Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to 10 p.m." - Alaena Hostetter

Went here for #ConcertUnderTheStars "Motown". It was phenomenal!! We had the meatball sandwiches and the peach cheesecake. Cool breeze and romantic atmosphere!

This is a cool venue but there are limitations in Summer months. For a 6 pm show there is a direct sun glare and reflection off the glass building that shines down on sitting area. There are trees but not everyone was protected. They need a bunch of fans and misting devices for this location to be feasible in Summer at this time. Music was good but too short and not worth paying premium prices. Do the later time in Summer months. We did not eat, food smelled and looked good but too hot to eat. There is a walk up bar so there is not any table service.

Unfortunately, The Artisan in Dallas misses the mark, starting from the moment you arrive. There’s no valet parking—not at the restaurant, not at the Stella Hotel, and not at the Ellie Hotel. Be prepared to park across the street and shell out \$15 just to get started. For a place positioning itself as upscale, this sets a frustrating tone from the beginning. On the semi rooftop, things don’t improve much. The drinks are on par with what you’d find at a dive bar—not in a good way. Honestly, if I wanted that kind of cocktail experience, I’d rather be at an actual dive bar with character and better prices. The food is similarly underwhelming; it doesn’t justify the ambiance or the prices. The one redeeming quality is the view—yes, it’s beautiful. But if you’re going to spend the money for a great view and a quality experience, skip The Artisan and head to Saint Rocco’s instead. They know how to deliver both.

Motown Under the Stars! I did not eat but the drinks were on point.

The Artisan is the PERFECT place in the Dallas Arts District to stop in and grab a drink and a bite with friends! Need a casual dining spot for lunch? This is THE PLACE! Try their shrimp bisque!!! It’s a creamy culinary delight!

I had a fabulous time at lunch Tuesday at The Artisan! I was able to order the portobello sandwich without cheese and with regular pesto as a vegan option and it was delicious. The staff was also incredibly courteous and helpful with making sure all of the ingredients in my meal did not contain any animal products. Thank you Artisan for a great time and a beautiful ambiance as I ate my lunch on the upstairs patio overlooking the Arts District!

Yelp
We had an enjoyable night on the terrace. The music was great the drinks were great the service was wonderful one hiccup was we ordered a BLT with avocado sandwich no avocado and then they up sold us on the potato wedges for an extra two bucks and we got french fries. Wonderful location hope to try them again hopefully they can iron out that little snafu

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwich, super friendly staff, and the iced mocha puts Starbucks to shame! Highly recommend if you're in the area

Yelp
Cool place, really like the layout of this place. Waitress are very nice and attentive. They also have jazz live band on Friday night. You can grab a drink and bite in here while enjoy the live band.

Yelp
I often stay in a hotel next door to The Artisan, and I love ordering my lunch from their kitchen. Their sandwiches, soups, and salads are all great. I appreciate how I can order online or via the mobile app and the food is ready minutes later. It is clean, updated and stylish, and I'll look forward to future visits.

Yelp
Great quick and easy to-go lunches! The convenience of the restaurant to the Hall Arts Hotel couldn't be better. We have tried several different dishes on the menu and have always been pleased. It is also an excellent value for the quality and quantity of food.

Yelp
If you use the mobile app, the food is made fast, fresh, and always ready for me to pick up without me having to get in line. I order both breakfast and lunch and everything is always really good. The staff is always friendly and professional. It's right next to my work building so very convenient as well.

Yelp
I came here for lunch last week and had the artisan turkey sandwich and it was honestly the best I've had in Dallas hands down!!! The staff was amazing and very helpful during my visit! Especially the young lady Chloe Ybarra, she's definitely a keeper!

Yelp
Slow service, half the time food is not available. Just a fancy looking place with below average food.

Yelp
I've eaten here a couple of times. Everything always looks and tastes freshly prepared. There is a good amount of variety on the menu: salads, sandwiches, etc, as well as entrees. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. I also like the outside terrace seating. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Decent food but crowded and slow service. So many great restaurants in the area, I would choose another place based on the traffic in this shop.

Yelp
Very convenient location and great variety of breakfast and lunch and snack and desserts! However the owner is not the nicest most customer friendly person. A bit condescending and sarcastic undertones when, for example reminding they they forgot a pastry, comment back is well I was busy getting your coffee. I'll get it now. necessary?

Yelp
The staff is extremely friendly, and the food is amazing!! The Artisan is one of my favorite places to grab lunch!

Yelp
Beautiful place in downtown Dallas, I love the way this place is set up. I ordered my food and before I knew it my food was ready. They have a lovely balcony seating area and tons of room outside. I ordered the Phillycheese steak and it was spot on and the price was just right. I will defiantly be going back to this place.
