The Asbury Hotel

"Housed in a former historic Salvation Army building, this discerningly retro digs sits just a block and a half from those sandy, Boss-beloved (yes, that Boss) beaches, and pays perfect tribute to the town’s eclectic but laidback legacy: Black-and-white beachgoer snaps adorn the walls of its 110 suites, and the mod interior is all clean lines and bright, punchy accents. Once you’re settled in and feeling social, you’ve got options: There’s Soundbooth, the lounge-adjacent lobby bar, where pinball games and conversation flourish, or Salvation, the lantern-lit rooftop cantina, a perfect improvisatory pit stop for those seeking a view—with a drink in hand, of course. Hungry? Sample some tasty food truck fare at the Beergarden, then head up to The Baronet, the rooftop garden hotspot that, by night, doubles as a ‘drive-in’—movies are projected onto a 20-foot wall—and even hosts the occasional live performance. If you're looking to hit town, all the main shops and restaurants are within a 15-20 minute walk. You'll see the city's musical culture echoed in stylish vintage stores—think fringe jackets, tinted sunglasses, and authentic Tom Petty tour shirts—and of course, Springsteen photos throughout. Don't forget to hit the beach before you leave: Even in the dead of winter, you can catch a concert at the Paramount Theater, right on the boardwalk."

Why Hotels in the U.S. Are Better Than Ever

Your Next Weekend Trip from NYC Should Be to Asbury Park, New Jersey

"If you're spending the night, book your stay at The Asbury Hotel, which feels trendy without trying too hard. Think clean wood designs and fun extras: a record library in the lobby, a turquoise bar serving inventive cocktails, a game room with a pool table and vintage pinball. Rooms are comfortable and come with all the necessary accoutrements (e.g. Malin + Goetz bath products), while the rooftop has a great bar—Salvation—and ocean views to match. The real star, however, is the Taylor ham, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich you can pick up at The Counter downstairs. (If you spend too much time at Salvation, you’ll need it). While there’s plenty to do in town, you can have just as much fun hanging around the hotel. Grab a drink at the outdoor Beergarden (ground level), take a dip in the pool, or catch a sunrise yoga class at Baronet, the Asbury's other rooftop venue (yep, there are two). You might even catch a concert while you're there—the lobby has singer/songwriter nights every Thursday at 8 p.m., and anyone is welcome to sign up."

Asbury Lanes Could Make the Jersey Shore a Year-Round Destination

"The revived Jersey Shore resort town first landed on our radars in 2016 with the opening of the Asbury, whose breezy lobby bar, whitewashed rooms, and lounges with pool tables and cocktail service were walking distance from the boardwalk."

This is a nice, chic hotel with lots of activities but the rooms are really bare bones for the price. First of all, this hotel is not designed for families. The only rooms they have with two beds in the room are double beds so good luck if you have two tall or large adults. We were annoyed by the lack of microwave or way to heat water or make coffee in the room - this forces you to purchase coffee and tea for $6 a pop. This is ridiculous on top of the price of the room. The bedding is also synthetic down alternative which is not breathable at all so I woke up sweating every night, and the beds are quite hard. Don’t believe what they say about cozy beds and bedding - it was one of the most uncomfortable beds I’ve stayed in at a hotel. The blinds didn’t go up and down and the shade was broken (though they did promptly fix that). The rug had ground in dirt that discolored the rug and didn’t seem clean. I did not have a restful or comfortable stay here despite what we spent. We will not be staying here again.

Great venue for a wedding or special event! Service and food were incredible! Everything from the appetizers, cocktails, entrees, and desserts were outstanding. Bartenders were professional, friendly and super talented. Old fashion’s and espresso martinis were delicious! The spicy margaritas were amazing and really enjoyed them. The dinner service was delicious and cooked perfectly; wish I could come back this morning for leftovers! Great job Asbury Hotel staff; you hit it out of the park!

Great location and staff nice rooms. Some minor nits. Renovations seem to have taken away some Jersey Shore feel. Pricey place but on site music and vibe can make it worth it. Rooftop is great as is lobby. We've been staying once or twice a year for about a decade

Our flight got delayed, and we checked in at 4am. Despite that the overnight staff was attentive, polite and welcoming. Same with everyone we’ve encountered on premises. The King bed was comfy, the funky vibe and pool are all great, and we are watching a band set up so we are looking forward to a great afternoon.

Google
Sky high pricing for the value. They don't honor contracts for groups. Tons of changes without notice last minute. We booked 90 nights of rooms and their event space more than 6 months prior to our group event. They delayed, and then without notifying us, changed the negotiated contract. All of our selected options for the event, including pricing changed 48 hours prior to the event. The event space, with a wall of garage doors for exterior access, had one garage door that was padded over with styrofoam because they couldn't fix it. This caused an extremely humid and noisy meeting event space. They charged $110 per day for valet. They didn't honor negotiated resort fees. The outdoor space with a tent we negotiated was not available, they forgot. As a result there weren't enough seats for breakfasts and lunches for our group. They failed to provide the beverage service negotiated in the contract. They didn't clean our "suite" one of the three days we were there, even after reminding them. If that's not enough to sway you from them........

I stayed with my wife and 9-year-old granddaughter in their $700+/night corner "panoramic suite" (now well over $1000/night summer weekends). You could see a sliver of the ocean off in the distance (but a birds-eye view of the dumpsters and garbage trucks right outside and below the window) on one end, and the pool on the other end. I was frustrated by the lack of basic amenities you would expect to find in the cheapest motel, let alone a room like this. There was no lock on the bathroom door which is real issue when you have an active little girl exploring the room! No vent fan in the bathroom either. The coffee pot was broken, and there's no free morning coffee in the lobby like most every other hotel has, so I had to buy that and water in the lobby (with the 20% gratuity automatically added). I bought a banana for my granddaughter while I was at it, but inside it was black and mushy, way overripe, so I had to throw it out. The television had no Internet and no functioning channels. There was no microwave oven. No paper directory of hotel services or other info - and since the TV didn't work, no info there either. Noisy, rumbling A/C three feet from the edge of the bed. But- at least there was a record player in the room!

Christina Tzanides

Google
We stayed in the “panoramic ocean suite” and were disappointed and felt it is not really advertised accurately. The interior is dated. For the most expensive room we weren’t expecting to look at dumpsters out our “ocean view” window. And we did not realize the hotel offers day passes to the hotel pool to the public. It brings in a tacky crowd and takes away from those who are actually paying to stay at the hotel. Overall, it’s a lot of good social media marketing. Overhyped. Overpriced.

My boyfriend and I came from Florida to visit family. We really enjoyed our stay here. We both love music and so we definitely loved the wall collection of vinyl records and cassettes. The rooms have a vinyl turntable so we were able to choose from the collection and play in our room. The staff were so welcoming and provided excellent customer service. The hotel is walking distance from the boardwalk and to so many restaurants and shops. We definitely will stay again if ever in Asbury.

Yelp
I recently stayed at The Asbury Hotel for the second time, after such a positive experience a few years ago. Again, I adored the place! There are several aspects to comment on, so I will list those out below: Room - for a "Double Double Room" that was 264 - 283 square feet, they sure made the most of the space! We had 2 chairs, a small coffee table, a desk with another chair, 2 beds, and plenty of open room. Bathroom - large, spacious, with giant walk-in shower. Upscale Malin + Goetz Bath Products Bed - reasonably comfortable, but a bit lumpy Cleanliness - my only complaint...saw a wad of hair on the shower floor, on the top of the bathroom garbage can, and on one of my pillows. The floor also looked dirty... Staff - front desk staff was super nice and helpful Lobby - loads of places to sit, pool table, convenience store, bar, coffee shop, and a rooftop with bar, movies, yoga, etc. Parking - valet is pricy, so try to get a metered spot. Meters do not run from 2 am-9 am, so you can stay overnight. Location - a block and a half from the beach and boardwalk, 10 minute walk to downtown Amenities - small gym in a hotel room (2 treadmills, 1 Peloton, squat rack, free weights, yoga mats), heated pool open all year around, poolside bar, rooftop (bar, yoga classes, movies), adjacent to Asbury Lanes (bowling alley and live music venue) and Asbury Diner (hotel resort fee includes discount at the Diner) Overall, the place is excellent! Plus, it has a modern vibe that focuses on a music theme, which makes sense given the proximity to classic music venues like Wonder Bar and The Stone Pony.

Yelp
You stay here for a small, but clean room near the beach with amazing views and customer-service oriented staff. Alexis leads a stellar team (including Jack, Max and Dominique) who went out of their way to help when Hyatt had a glitch with their booking system for this new-to-Hyatt brand. The Asbury gets bonus points for fun karaoke that is really off Broadway worthy (or better) voices belting some classics in the lobby lounge. Your dog won't forget the warm welcome, the special menu or the treats. The pool is a quiet oasis, but I went straight to the boardwalk and beach. Coffee bar, bowling, lower rooftop bar and diner on site for additional charge. It is pricy when you consider the parking, beach and resort fees are extra, but you deserve to enjoy Asbury Park with no surprises. This is dependable and convenient, but bare bones for the price point.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my stay here! Granted staying in March is NOT the same experience as during the summer. But we were catching a show at Asbury Lanes and didn't want to drive home. This hotel is legitimately attached to the venue, so it couldn't be more perfect. Rooms are pretty small, so just be aware. We ended up getting upgraded to a bigger room (perks of staying in March) but had originally signed up for a room that was something like 150 sq feet. It's cozy though, and the bed was super comfortable. The lobby is vibrant and busy. There's a large bar area, a cafe and lots of lounge areas with tables and couches. This seems like a very popular spot to work remotely. Lots of great food options too! If you come back late there's a convenience area in the lobby where you can buy to-go drinks and packaged snacks and sandwiches. There's also a cafe with really solid coffee and breakfast options. This was great since there isn't much else around. My egg and cheese wrap and cold brew very much hit the spot after a late night out. I'm sure it would be like 4x the price to stay in summer, but there's a sweet pool and rooftop and you of course can't beat the proximity to the beach.

Yelp
Parking can be an issue, since you are near the boardwalk. The hotel is nice. They have unlimited towels available. We went on Mother's Day and there were these unruly children visiting. Other than that we had a good time. They do have small bites from a permanent food truck. Those items were not very tasty. Our drinks were good.

Yelp
Get the Egg and Cheese sandwich. The brioche bun has the perfect sweetness, and the cheese is melted to perfection!!

Yelp
Much better visits as of recently. The personnel really are ready to help you out, and seem excited to do so. The rooms are a bit simple, but they are comfortable and provide you everything you need. Note that the tvs are pretty much defunct in every room I've been in - they don't have smart tv capabilities, which is kind of a bummer. Room service is by request only, which is a ok as it's very simple to get it cleaned. They're fast to clean your room as well, once you've notified front desk either by text capabilities or a phone call. Gym is clean and with a decent amount of equipment, including a peloton. Malin and goetz products are provided, which is such a nice luxury. Would stay again. Their lobby is so great for getting work done.

Yelp
We were at the Asbury which is a fabulous site for a wedding. The hotel was beautifully and playfully decorated for Christmas. After party was at the bowling alley. Rooms very basic with a cute record player. Great location...near beach and boardwalk. Halls are all banged up...need sprucing. Staff nice...but overwhelmed with three weddings going on plus a New Year's party. They need more staff when there are so many guests. To order food, a coffee, or find out where ice was...any query a 10-15 minute ordeal. Checking in...also took way too long. Lots of fun music going on here. A hotel designed for fun. Our granddaughters' first hotel experience ever...worked out nicely due to a superb wedding venue.

Yelp
Fun lively lobby area. That's where they put their money. The rooms are very cramped with cheap furnishings. On 7th floor, hot water took 10 minutes to arrive. The hallways are narrow and very poorly decorated--feels like you're in a sub floor with a ceiling closing in on you. Make sure to double check bill. They billed us incorrectly--adding valet parking and late checkout. Neither of which was true.

Yelp
Nice hotel...I enjoyed a couple of nights at this dog friendly hotel. I was quite surprised by how clean it was considering they allow dogs. I don't have a dog but I was with someone who does so I stayed at this place and found it to be a truly nice spot. They have entertainment every night in the beautiful lobby which is like a relic from the past. An industrial look with a modern touch. The pool was beautiful with lots of seating, great service and attention to detail. The rooms were clean with a great bed and a nice bathroom. Not much space though as the standard rooms are really small. I inquired about what the building was and found out that it was a barracks for Salvation Army soldiers back in the day. I guess thats why the rooms are so small. Nonetheless they were adequate if all you're looking for is a nice place to sleep. The roof top bar is astounding with great views, however it was so windy I couldn't enjoy it during my trip. The only issue I had was with the carpeting in the hallways which I didn't think was a good idea considering dogs have accidents and I noticed some allergy issues whenever I walked through them. It's hard to keep carpets clear of dog dander and it may not be a good idea. Other than that the hotel was a nice place to spend a couple of days. They make some good drinks too!

Yelp
This hotel was at one time barracks for salvation officers so that was interesting -Customer service was always on point that is sooo important while staying in any hotel and I rate them a big 10. This hotel is pet friendly and expensive but pet owners will be very happy staying here-my sister was very happy with the accommodation given. The great thing about this hotel is that they have so many activities for the entire family, pool table, table games , bowling lane. For the adults band entertainment and bar -let's not forget the rooftop hangout which we couldn't enjoy due to the weather-but nice view. I do feel rugs in the hallways could be better maintained being that dogs walk on them. My room was very clean surprisingly because all rooms allow dog stay. The pool area was sooo nice and relaxing and I felt bathrooms were always clean. In the lobby they have a concession store which you can get breakfast and lunch. I really loved their lavender matcha ube drink-yummy. Everyone at the hotel from valet parking server to manager were amazing-thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel with wonderful amenities. What other hotel in the area has a rooftop movie theater, rooftop bar, bowling alley, retro diner, and pool? The rooms are small however they are very clean. We heard one neighbor for 30 seconds whose baby was crying, but that's the only guest we heard during our one night stay. The larger bathroom was a plus and the glass shower with a rainfall shower head gave me the full spa experience. The pool is large and has plenty of seating for guests. The cabanas give you an extra feel of luxury. The best part of the pool is the outdoor bar. I mean, c'mon. This is a pricey hotel but I always say you get what you pay for. Cheaping out on a hotel is such a gamble, but there's nothing cheap at the Ashbury. I'll definately come back to the Ashbury the time time I'm on the Jersey shore. The staff and crew and so kind and informative. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
I am not a Ritz Carlton square-footage-room aficionado. I don't care for golf courses or pools. I love being around the ocean and AirBnB. Having said that, I really enjoyed staying in this boutique style Scandi-chic room hotel. My room was small but very cozy, some highlights are below: 1. Rooms are very Scandinavian chic - minimal furniture and walk-in shower bathrooms 2. The lobby is stunning- this is a converted Salvation Army building 3. Food and coffee shop is open from 7-3pm (amazing egg and cheese English muffin, avocado toast, breakfast burrito etc) 4. The bar area is spacious but not so large that people can't carry on separate conversations 5. Danny Clinch gallery is just around the corner 6. The ocean is about 5 minutes away with a long boardwalk for running or walking 7. The hotel is about 1 hr Lyft ride from Newark airport Cons: 1. Land line phone with a bright screen (I had to disconnect it and hide it in the closet because the light was at my eye level while sleeping) 2. T-stat screen was large and bright (I had to cover it to be able to sleep) 3. The hotel is a popular wedding photo shoot destination, the lobby can get crowded in the morning when quiet time is needed for a cup of coffee and books 4. "Vegan sausage" added to my egg breakfast was actually a vegan burger patty (I was so confused when my breakfast was served) Overall: highly recommended, I really enjoyed my stay here.

Yelp
Great staff. Fun environment. Clean rooms. Energetic, polite and helpful room cleaning staff. Great place for a wedding. Short walk to boardwalk, convention center and many music venues. The products in the room are high end and the robes are cosy!

Yelp
We went to the Asbury hotel for my niece's wedding last weekend and had a great experience! We were traveling with my 89 year old mom and her dog and so requested an early check in to make sure they were both settled. I was able to communicate with the front desk staff via email and text and they came through for us! Dominique and Kate greeted us with friendly smiles and answered all of my questions and got us into our room smoothly. Since we were there for a wedding we had a lot of luggage and things with us - garment bags, luggage with dresses, shoes, coolers, etc and Neil the bellman was super friendly and helpful and got all of our stuff loaded up and into our room. The front desk manager Blaine is terrific. I think that guy works 24 hours a day! The rooms are small but we knew that going in. I believe it is a converted Salvation Army building so the rooms are modern and clean, but are on the small side. We stayed in a Double Double and it was plenty of room for 2 adults and a dog. Did I mention that the entire hotel is DOG friendly? Dogs are totally welcome - in fact there is a dedicated dog menu at the grab and go counter in the lobby and when I needed a poop bag, they had plenty at the front desk! There is a closet in the room with space to hang clothes, as well as shelves, a safe, and a small fridge. There is coffee and grab and go available downstairs starting at 7 AM and Vanessa who serves coffee is super friendly and sweet. The diner next door is great with yummy breakfast and service (thanks Briana). There are outlets near the beds to charge your phones and the bathroom was clean and the shower had hot water and soap/shampoo/condition/lotion was all included. There are hairdryers hanging on the closet doors. There are robes and slippers in the closet for use too. In the evening they texted to ask if we wanted housekeeping service and sent someone right up. We were here from Friday - Sunday and it is a party vibe. The wedding ceremony itself was on the rooftop, and cocktails and dinner were also in the hotel in their banquet area. There were a lot of brides running around and it was full! There Is loud music that plays into the night - I think until 1:30 AM so if you are looking for quiet, this is not the place. But if you are here for a fun time with an incredible vibe, steps aways from the Beach and boardwalk this is the place to be! The catering team did an incredible job with the wedding itself and everything was well run! I want to give a shout out to some other friendly and great staff: Jacob, Nelly, Autumn, Colby, and Briana the diner waitress. My husband, son and I will def go back here when we visit Asbury!!!

Robyn D.

Yelp
Super fun weekend celebrating my 60th whirl around the sun. Loved the whole vibe of The Asbury Hotel. Shout out to Neil's local recommendations (you were right! Robinson's Ale House great food and people watching--also a great live music experience at Clinch Gallery.) The staff was SO cool and personable. Love the live lounge music and wacky 8:18 pm margarita special. Loved the diner for breakfast as well. One note: make sure the room wifi is connected--all in all highly recommend! Favorite part: the mystery record library that often had a different album in the sleeve. We thought we pulled Johnny Mathis and wound up listening to Between the Buttons! A Stones win! I'll be back!

Yelp
This is for rooftop bar only. Nice views. Cocktails were tasty but small and measured alcohol so not much free pouring. Don't feel like the drinks were worth it at all considering the very measured pour. They were out of a couple things to make drinks. Some kind of smell is sensed up there. Not sure if mildew or floating garbage smells. The music was too clubby for my taste at 7p. Not rushing back unfortunately.

Yelp
We set up a team building weekend for around 25 people. The staff were attentive, friendly and so welcoming to everyone who attended. The rooms were very clean. The large lobby allowed us to gather without having to leave the hotel and The Counter breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
I made a reservation two months ago to stay at the asbury with my daughter. The night before the check in, the hotel called to confirm our checkin time was 4. We arrived at 4:20pm and the lobby was a mad house. There were bad storms so I don't know if an event got moved into the lobby from some outdoor space. At any rate, we tried to check in and our room wasn't ready with no eta on when a room would be ready. My young daughter wasn't feeling great, but we couldn't wait outside because of the storms and the lobby was crazy. We just sat with our luggage in a corner of the lobby until our room was ready around 5. It was pretty brutal. They gave us one free breakfast at a diner for our troubles. The rest of the stay was fine, until it wasn't. On the morning of our departure, I noticed the carpet was wet. The air conditioner had leaked overnight and my backpack was soaked. Luckily my laptop was okay, but it was a big mess. We asked for maintenance to come up but they didn't, although what could they have done at this point, we had to leave for the airport. The front desk removed the resort fees from our bill for our troubles. The front desk staff was really the saving grace of the stay. Between my daughter being ill and knowing I had to travel all day with a wet backpack, I just didn't have the energy to fight for a larger discount for my bill. I don't know if I would stay there again; I'm just not sure if this is the normal experience, where everything goes wrong and the front desk staff has to give you discounts and free things to cover for it. Lastly, I can't tell if the guys up front are bellmen or valets. They didn't help us get get the big suitcases up the steps or down the steps, they didn't open the doors for us when we were carrying the suitcases. I guess they're waiting for cars? But I would recommend not standing out front staring at guests struggle up the steps to then open a large door for themselves if they're not going to help. Just go wait somewhere else for a car to pull up.

Yelp
We were there for a wedding and had very good time at the Asbury Hotel. Perfect location, darling hotel and dog friendly! The staff were always very considerate and helpful. Joe and Ian especially. If we lived on east coast this would be a definite destination especially since we have a puppy.

Yelp
I visited this hotel on July 2 and stayed one night. At first when I got there there was a little mixup with my reservation and I was given one quad and one standard queen instead of a double double and standard queen. My mother is in a wheelchair so we really wanted a bigger space. This was a really important and special trip and maybe the last time we would be able to go to the beach as a family. I asked if there was anything that can be done and Kate was super sweet and asked the manager Dominique. Kate kept apologizing while we were waiting to speak to Dominique and Dominique heard our concerns and did the unthinkable. Dominique offered us a huge upgrade by giving us the Park suite. We were ecstatic and she even said I will take you there to view it first to make sure you were happy with it. The room was simply gorgeous and breathtaking! She also upgraded the standard queen to a king to make us on the same floor, so it would be easier for us to wheel, my mother around. They were also pretty full so we were so grateful! The hotel is super modern and chic with a beachy Scandanavian decor. It is one block from the beach so the location is perfect. Service is impeccable! Rooms are clean! loved the Malin & Goetz products. Also super cute for dogs!

Yelp
For the food. It's inconsistent. My wife had the cheese and apple sandwich one day. It looked delicious - thinly sliced apple spread evenly on the bread, and covered with cheese. It was also easy to eat. We went back a week later with a friend who'd been told of the delicious cheese and apple sandwich. We ordered 3. They were a mess. Maybe 3 fat slices of apple, randomly and unevenly placed on the bread, along with the cheese, and the taste wasn't even very good. It didn't have enough mustard. Now we don't want to try it again. We were told maybe it was a different "chef" who made it, but both times were a Friday early evening. And why would the standards be different based on who makes it? Disappointed and not sure we want to try anything else they offer, since it's not certain what quality it will be.

Yelp
Off-Season Wedding - Stay Away from Asbury Hotel! This place was really great in most respects, BUT, if you are thinking about an off-season wedding, go someplace else! Our event was a mild December evening with outside temps about 40 degrees. If you are considering this place, you know that the dining space is a semi-permanent glass tent - they will tell you that it stays warm, but it doesn't!! Worse, if it rains the water seeps in along the entire perimeter and will soak all you guests' long dresses - I know, it happened to us!! DO NOT BELIEVE THEM when they say the heating system is adequate for a cold night (our wedding night wasn't even that cold); they have enough heat, but only 2 vents so in order to keep the center warm they blast the people on the outside. Then, when they complain, they turn the heat off and everyone is cold. If you want to plan you wedding here in off season (October - April) be sure your guest list is less than 140 people so that your guests don't have to sit near the perimeter. Do not believe them that the tent is capable of handling a larger party! The worst part - the banquet manager (Theresa) could not have been more rude or uncaring; she literally said "what did you expect, it's a tent", and "your guests are just being babies". I suppose there was really nothing she could do at that point, but a little understanding and compassion would have gone a long way. It's a shame, because other than that, the venue was great (and so were ALL the staff other than banquet manager and event manager)

Yelp
First let me start off by saying Steve the bartender was ridiculous. That man knows how to make a proper espresso martini. Savanah was being trained and it didn't feel that way cause that girl had skills. There was music and the vibe was awesome. 1st time to this place but trust me....I'll be back 10/10

Yelp
2 NYC Nurses needed a pool weekend! I loved our stay, just had 2 issues. 1. Booked a double room, advertised online with, "2 lounge chairs & a table" came into only 1 chair& a nightstand. Staff looked at me like I was crazy, showed them their own site. Ended up getting 1 chair, no table. Pool is GORGEOUS, but they sell Day Passes to NON-hotel guests, which then OVERCROWDS THE POOL. I would've given 5 stars if they just allowed their own guests of this HUGE hotel in, we had to FIGHT as paying guests of the pool?!?! A girl even came up to us in the lobby asking where the pool was, cause she was not a hotel guest & had a "pool day pass".... Horrible thing to do to your own paying guests!! Especially for paying SO much for our stay.

Yelp
This is a nice hotel with chic decor. Everyone was pretty helpful. I did not stay here so I can't speak for the rooms. They have a really nice rooftop bar which is nice to visit during the sunset. I also enjoyed karaoke in the lobby which was fun.

Yelp
This hotel is hungry for your money, and hanging on by a thread. When we arrived, our room was furnished with IKEA furniture straight out of 2005, had a clogged toilet, and a TV that didn't work with the remote. (I'm not making this up). We came here for a wedding and selected our room because it was advertised as not being billed until arrival. A week before check in, a $200 hold was billed to my account, followed by an additional $200 bill for incidentals. Upon check-in, I was immediately billed for the entire cost of my stay. Only to be billed an additional full amount for my stay when I checked out. This hotel expects you not only to pay for all services and incidentals up front-- but to cover 2x the cost of your stay until they refund the hold. This wouldn't be an issue if the hotel was reasonably priced-- but there is absolutely no warning that you need $5k in available credit to book a two night stay in the smallest/most basic of rooms. (See screenshots). As a result of their shiesty business practices, we are without funds for the rest of our trip. We contacted the hotel and they accepted no responsibility. However, having stayed at many hotels in the area in the recent past, I am not convinced this is a regular business practice. It is clear that they are desperate for money and expect customers to front their costs. Our first night (a Wednesday), an extremely loud band was playing in the lobby until 11:00 at night. The bass from the drums was shaking the bed. I don't mean to sound miserable-- but again, for the cost of this hotel, that is entirely unacceptable. We were willing to put this aside; but when we noticed the obscene charges to our credit card, all to ensure the hotel got their money in advance, is obtuse. Stay anywhere else and enjoy the Jersey Shore without this headache.

Yelp
I can't speak for the hotel rooms as I was hear to attend a wedding. The lobby has a cool quirky vibe to it with comfy seating arrangements throughout the space. The rooftop bar had amazing views for the cocktail hour it was perfect and the staff was very attentive. I have to give a two thumbs up to a young man named Vincent who was a pleasure the entire evening. But every staff member I had interacted with during the night was friendly and accommodating. It was a unique space they created with a tented area attached to the building for a romantic feel with the lighting and foliage all around. The only thing that I would say is a downside is how dark the bar and dance floor area was, otherwise it was a great venue overall.

Yelp
First time staying in this Hotel. First of all, the staff was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. Valets, front desk, coffee bar and maids. All great. The lobby of the hotel is very charming and the rooms were clean. Now for my review... I felt that the rooms really needed care. If you are paying $750 for a night stay, I really hoped to find that the rooms are well cared for . The bed was shabby, scrapped up. The mattress was comfortable but the pillows were rocks. The shades in one of the windows was broken, the record player was missing a needle to be able to play records. The noise level from the weddings going on both nights I stayed was at incredibly loud. (We were on the third floor.) Impossible to get someone to pick up the phone at the front desk. Left a message and no one gets back to you. Better off walking down stairs and talking in person. Checking out ? Get ready to wait for elevators . The cleaning staff shares the only 2 elevators in the whole hotel... elevators are tiny so get ready to either walk up and down the stairs or Wait. Or cram into the elevators with the hotel linens in carts. Or mops and Cleaning supplies. Coffee bar was fine but the baked goods cold... like they were frozen and de-thawed in the mornings at room temperature. Not tasty. (Croissants /muffins. ) For such a lavish price in the room, I really expected more care with the decor and room stylings or the comfort of it all.... Wanted it to be sexier. I even struggled to understand how to turn on my shower !!!! The shower knobs were hilarious. Anyways... Asbury Park is amazing but this hotel is overrated . We ate dinner and breakfast at the Asbury lanes. That was very good. Delicious. I wouldn't stay here again. You can stay in NYC at a beautiful hotel for less than this.

Yelp
Amazing jazz trio--Jacob D. Moore Trio played tonight. Exceptional bartenders and service. Can't say enough about the quality of the music and experience. May be best kept secret in Asbury. Where else could you go to hear this pro quality music and see the sunset over Jersey beach.

Yelp
Started out well and went straight downhill. Room never was cleaned. I asked several times, was told newcomers would be first on a given day then 5 PM cleaners left the premises. Missing blackout shade and torn broken cord for one set of blinds. No one came to replace or repair. I asked and asked. Espresso machine broke, unable to make anything except pots of coffee which took 20 minutes. "Come back later" I was told. Checkout was a mess. She didn't even if I'm my name or email address. It was not at all busy. She asked which credit card I was using, I told her, pointed at swiped and confirmed, then my original cc on file was used instead. "Autumn" at Reception desk was the one true professional. She was astute, thought flexibly, understood how to assuage a wronged guest, always on topof her game and what was best for the guest and hotel. Brava...I won't be back.

Yelp
I haven't stayed at the Asbury Hotel... yet. But it's on my list for 2022. I have been here though for an after-party event and local events. The rooftop bar is pretty cool, and also live bands played in the lobby during a previous Hi-Tide summer festival. Two of our friends stayed at the hotel for a weekend, and had a great time. The hotel is in a good location close to the boardwalk, restaurants, music venues, etc. (all in walking distance).

Yelp
Two night stay here with spouse and no parking included. Non of these rooms has microwaves or stoves! Non! No beach pass included as well. With prices as high as $750 for two nights, we are extremely disappointed. This hotel is over priced, for what you get with it it's definitely not worth it and by the way they charge $50 a day because parking is not included for people staying here which is ridiculous, thank God with information from residents here my spouse and I were able to find parking for free and save a couple of hundreds of dollars. Oh yeah and our window view is roof tops of neighboring buildings next door. This is the last time we ever stay here!

Yelp
Great location with pleasant service, modern lobby, live music and valet ($50/day). Very nice heated pool with bar and plenty of seating and umbrellas. Rooms are exactly what you need for your time at the shore. Just enough room and comfortable accommodations. Coffee bar next to the front desk with airport like kiosk offerings (e.g., wraps, yogurt) if you need something on the go. We'll be back!

Yelp
This was a review I have mixed feelings on. I loved the hotel but it had some minor bumps. when does everything go smoothly? Haha, I stayed here over New Year's and got the package. When we pulled up they had valet for $20. Then right in front of the hotel, they have tons of parking with the meter. I saved myself $20. When we checked in hotel staff was friendly. The rooms were great the view was amazing. They have a record player but it didn't work. They have all these great albums and then to find it's broken. You should fix it or take it out. Totally bummer. Also in the package, we had a late checkout. Definitely a plus. The diner next to the hotel is amazing. The staff was friendly and fast at serving. The hotel has beautiful decor and a pool (heated) rooftop. The staff doesn't seem to communicate with time. I went to the pool the girl had an attitude when I asked for a towel. She said the pool doesn't open till 1 yet tons of people swimming. Then I hear another person say the same. Yet the front told us the pool opens at 11 am. When going back to our room to get stuff we got locked out. If you aren't out by checkout time. You get locked out. It's also very close to the boardwalk. Which has restaurants and some stores. Also, the hotel is dog friendly. They were having a wedding and we thought would be loud and crazy. It was the totally opposite never heard the wedding noise. I would say the only bumps were communication with staff, a broken record player, and parking. Also, the food and wine trucks were not open. Which is odd for a weekend stay. I would have enjoyed them. I'm sure others at the pool would have. I would return for another visit.

Yelp
This review has been a long time coming. I have been to this hotel in the past during the cat convention for meet and greets but never officially stayed a night. That was until my friends and I booked rooms during New Years (during peak COVID). During this time, I thought the hotel did a wonderful job at maintaining social distancing while still have entertainment and things to do. Our room came with a little cheese and meat platter and complimentary champagne. Everything was clean and well maintained. Fast forward to last week- my now fiancé, and I booked a room on a Thursday evening. Upon check-in, we found all staff to be friendly and attentive. Our room was cozy and very clean. We hit the hotel bar before going out to dinner- the drinks were delicious and were priced fairly! After dinner, we returned to the hotel and grabbed some of the canned cocktails that are readily available for purchase. We spent some time in the lobby area which was super cozy and well maintained. Being that it was a Thursday, we had the lobby to what seemed like ourselves! All in all, I look forward to coming back for another trip as it has become a very special place for us especially since this is where I was proposed too!

Yelp
Pros: great location. The staff who we met were nice people. The pool deck was well-designed. Cons: I can see that this hotel is probably fun in the summer, but it is truly not designed for the off-season -- the room was small with cheap, basic decor and the bed was really not comfortable. If you were spending the whole day at the beach I'm sure that this truly wouldn't matter, but in the off-season it was not ideal, given the price. I also have to flag that they have major IT issues -- we never received a confirmation email + when I called to find out what was going I was told that was because their emails are filtered to spam by Gmail. That's something the hotel needs to fix. On departure, our Visa card was not accepted by their system despite being well within our credit limit and our card being accepted everywhere else that day; annoying given that this meant we couldn't collect reward points. Overall just feels like a hotel where the management isn't trying too hard to get the details right.

Yelp
If it cost $200 per night it would be a 3. But it cost $600 per night. The room is a non-spectacular, less than ordinary, cross between a college dorm and a cheap European hotel. No shower caps or robes and a non-working safe (finally fixed after 3 calls and 2 days). Cubbies instead of drawers and NYC small. Sound carries in the halls and from upstairs nieghbor. Noisy and lots of wake up as people travel the halls late at night and in the early morning. Room was clean. They get a point for that. TV has standard channels and no extra No water bottles in the room, free or paid. No mini bar. No daily maid service, unless you call. No oom service. There is no real restaurant in the hotel but they will tell you that the diner in the bowling alley is the restaurant. Nice pool...no jacuzzi. They have morning yoga... for an extra fee. They show movies at night.... for an extra fee. Staff are nice but understaffed and ineffectual. Save your money and get the full genuine holiday Inn experience at a holiday inn. This place would suck at $200 a night. Stay home and avoid this dump.

Yelp
All staff friendly. Valet staff exceptional. The Atrium area had a great vibe. Pool was just right

Yelp
Underwhelming and overpriced. Reception and counter staff was standoffish, annoyed and not welcoming at all, not even a greeting nor acknowledgement. I wasn't given any information about anything at check-in - found out much later on my own about free drink tokens, free shuttle cars, on-site amenities and events, etc. At check-out today, the man whom I believe was the shift manager was irritable and snapped at both the staff member who was helping me and myself when there was a problem with their card reader. They also never disclosed what my bill balance was before charging even when I asked, which is important for catching any discrepancies and for informing method of payment choice. He then slapped my card on the counter instead of handing it back to me because he was frustrated. This guy was a serious bummer. For $600/night (before taxes + fees!) I'm confused by the complete lack of care and blatantly rude customer service. For a place that markets itself as dog-friendly and upscale, there were no welcome baggie/treats, dog beds nor food/water bowls. Dogs were also not allowed on the rooftop or restaurant, which is fine but we were inaccurately told in advance dogs were allowed anywhere on-site. We were also given inaccurate closing times about the facilities onsite like the diner and rooftop, which ended up closing at 5pm not 8pm as listed. Again, for a place that charges $600/night and is marketed as upscale, the room was sparsely furnished with cheap, sterile, college-dorm-like IKEA furniture. Huge lack of amenities like bathrobes, kettle/coffeemaker, mini bar, etc. Old basic TV. Old window-unit AC that was too loud and kept the room feeling damp. Very hard, uncomfortable beds with flat pillows. Broken window blinds with missing slats. Loud rooftop club music keeping you up at night. Felt more like a private hostel room with a private bathroom. The pros (for the single star): Fun poolside times with dogs by our sides. Yummy cocktails. Friendly pool bar and pool food truck staff and service. Prime location, especially for dogs (yappy hour at wonder bar, 8th ave dog beach, dog-friendly outdoor boardwalk dining at robinson ale house, etc). Asbury Park is wonderful, especially for dog lovers, but I recommend staying at either an Airbnb or Berkeley Oceanfront instead.

Yelp
Let me preface this by saying that I wanted to love this hotel and my time in Asbury Park. As a Jersey girl, I'm always rooting for affordable, classy, and relaxing vacation spots in my home state. Other reviews have complained about the room being too small. The room was not too small. It was perfectly fine. The facilities at this hotel are very nice. There is a beautiful pool, food truck, and it's only a block from the beach. However, the service leaves much to be desired. For the price you pay, the service is subpar. The staff is mostly young students who lack professional customer service training. The valet wasn't sure if our suitcases were being checked in or leaving. There was clearly a lack of internal communication between staff members and teams. While the room was nice, the fancy rainforest shower head in our room did not work. We had no hair dryer and called the front desk THREE times before we got one. The tv wasn't working. Someone came up to "fix it," but he admitted it had been a problem. The pool bar didn't have all the drinks on tap and the bartender complained that the food truck person was late. His co worker admonished him and said "don't complain to the guests." He told her that it was "best to be honest." Again, they were college students. For the price you pay, the facilities are nice, but service staff needs to get their act together. I won't be returning. Lastly, they told us to bring cash for the beach. Turns out you need a credit card to pay for a beach pass. Also, they suggested an Uber. Our Uber didn't show up by the train station. That was not the hotels fault of course. But just another thing to be aware of.

Yelp
We stayed here February 23 thru February 25, 2023 (Thursday through Sunday). $897.44 plus $100 pet free plus $20 per day for parking. Deluxe King room. Pro's 1. Bed is very comfortable. 2. Room was clean. 3. Very Dog friendly. 4. Pool area was nice and heated to 95° and has a small bar for drinks poolside. Also, a nice fire. 5. Live entertainment downstairs and going on's and live bands. 6. Quality soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. 7. Nice spacious shower with different shower head and handheld option. 8. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. 9. Room windows actually open which is nice to get some fresh sea air. 10. Lobby decor is nice and lobby is spacious. 11. Bar area is very pretty. 12. Great location. 2 blocks to the boardwalk and convention hall. Steps away from the Wonder bar and Asbury Lanes. Con's-Some may sound silly but after spending over $1000 for 3 nights at a hotel, I expect perfection. 1. Toilet seat is not soft close. 2. Bathroom doors offer little privacy and allow all bathroom noises to escape into the bedroom. Make sure to play music on your phone loudly or turn tv volume up unless you like your date/spouse to hear everything. Also, they don't lock and you can see through the cracks. 3. Deluxe King room seemed small. Would've been nice to have a couch. 4. Refrigerator was nice to have but very small. Take out or leftover containers don't always fit because it's not deep enough. 5. Bring your own coffee maker. Coffee is not free and very expensive downstairs! I am one who likes coffee the minute I wake up and throughout the day...and having to either go downstairs to get it or call room service and then pay for it was annoying. Coffee was good though but my Keurig at home is good also. 6. No dresser just boxes and a closet for clothes. If you pack a lot, don't expect it to all fit. 7. Internet is hard to get on to with a fire stick and takes a little time to figure out. Also, you get kicked off once in a while for what seems like an advertisement or something. 8. TV is not 4K. 9. Rooftop was closed for the season (we were there in February) but it would've been nice if that was on the website. I still would've like to see the stars and the view from high up. They should offer a cheaper price if all amenities are not available. 10. Breakfast/kitchen food was mediocre. Not really worth the money and hardly any vegan options. 11. Parking is an additional $20 per day otherwise it's street meter parking. Parking should be included. 12. Record player was broken and it wouldn't turn on. It does offer a line in for you to hook up your phone when it does work but no Bluetooth option. I could've done without the broken turntable and had a coffeemaker in its place. 13. Light over the bed reminds you of a hospital room. I was looking for the button to call the nurse. 14. Room 509 - you hear the elevators going up and down all night long. Departure: 1. Gentleman at desk didn't call anybody to help me get my luggage. I had to wheel the cart upstairs and downstairs myself. Upon arrival someone was there to help you and I tipped him well. 2. Valet Parker just stood there while I tried to navigate a cart filled with stuff and two dogs and didn't even open the door for me. I tipped the guy well upon arrival also. 3. After all that, I come to the front desk to the gentleman with my key cards to checkout (early I might add because there was nothing I wanted to eat there and the coffee is overpriced) and he says, "oh, you're checking out?". Really? I wanted to smack his face...like what part of me getting the cart for my luggage from you and having my car pulled around didn't tell you I was checking out. I really don't know what to say...bottom line...NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!

Yelp
PSA if you travel YOU NEED TO READ THIS! I stayed at The Asbury Hotel on my birthday, April 7, 2022. I went out to celebrate and decided to reserve a 2 person room at the Asbury Hotel. I was a solo female guest that arrived and checked into the hotel alone. Only my name was on the reservation and my credit card with my name was used for payment when checking in. I went out for the night and returned back at the Asbury hotel drunk and alone (it was my birthday). I spoke with the man working at the hotel desk and left the name of my ONE friend who was coming to stay with me. I went to my room and fell asleep. *The hotel staff didn't see me with anyone the entire night. My ONE friend who's name I left with the desk arrived, and was allowed up without showing proper ID. Even though they had permission to be there, the hotel staff didn't give them a key to the room. Hours later my "male" best friend (MBF) arrives at the hotel. His name was not on my reservation, His name wasn't given to the staff at the desk, he didn't have a key to my room, he didn't know my room number, ALL HE KNEW was that I was staying at the Asbury Hotel. There was NOTHING connecting us to each other. He called me multiple times on my cell phone. I was sleeping and never heard the phone. As far as I know the hotel desk didn't call my room but if they did, I didn't answer so Again No permission was given for him to come to my room. There was nothing confirming he was who he was telling the staff he was to me, YET the hotel staff gave him a key to my room and never even asked him for ID!!!! I woke up and he was in my hotel room, sleeping on the floor. The hotel staff had NOTHING connecting us to one another except for my MBF's word. They don't know me or him. We were NEVER at The Asbury Hotel together that night or EVER! As far as the hotel staff was concerned, me and my MBF were complete strangers. And rather than tell him "sorry sir you're not on this reservation, would you like to reserve a room for yourself," They risked my safety and gave him a key to my room! Thankfully, this is not a tragic story but think about how terribly wrong this could have gone. The hotel NEVER confirmed who he was, I could have been robbed, raped, or killed! It shook me up quite a bit. I still can't wrap my head around why the hotel would make such a careless mistake. It's hotel guest safety 101. I spoke with the hotel manager, not for a refund but to raise awareness of the situation since the summer season is coming quick and tourists will be flooding into the city. I honestly couldn't live with myself if someone was seriously hurt and I didn't say anything. That being said, the hotel manager gave me a partial refund, and in case you were wondering, out of the $212 spent on my room, hotel negligence that puts your personal safety at risk is a $46 refund. I am grateful the hotel listened to my concerns and truly hope they follow through with their promise that this will never happen again, because someone else might not be as lucky. If you still choose to stay at The Asbury Hotel, please maintain awareness of their lack of safety for their guests. While they have security measures in place it's obviously a facade.

Yelp
Very nice place. Hotel has pool table and other entertainment games in the lobby area. Elevator to rooftop, opens up to a big bar and panoramic gorgeous view. It was a bit windy but nothing to ruin the evening. DJ was jamming. He was so smooth with his transitions. I ordered a gin and tonic and it was perfect. It wasn't crowded. We were able to enjoy ourselves. Turned out to be a great time with great friends. I will come back during the summer. It's definitely the place to go .

Yelp
We requested a pack and play weeks prior to our stay. Upon check in we did not have one in our room. Called front desk no one answered. Went down to front desk and was told one would be sent up. 2 hours later it arrived and was broken. Called front desk for a replacement and was told there wasn't one, an additional 2 hours later. In addition when we checked into our room there was long black hairs in the shower, on the bathroom floor, and in the room itself. Also we only had one set of bath towels, so we sent a text to request additional towels. Never received them. We then noticed that our Kleenex box was empty and that the ceiling light at the entry of our room was constantly flickering. We tried to go to sleep and found that the a/c constantly was running, after trying to adjust it multiple times we ended up turning it off.

Yelp
I'm so glad we chose to stay at the Asbury.  We had a marvelous time.  The staff were all wonderful.  Between the warmth of the employees and the amenities of the hotel (The delicious diner!  The food/records/games available in the lobby!  The fabulous heated outdoor pool, and the exquisite drinks we had there!), we never lacked for something to do, and we felt cared for at all hours. My only suggestions would be to add a shelf in the shower (appreciate the pump bottles, but want somewhere to put my own toiletries as well), and to make some kind of arrangement with a local gym so visitors have a place to work out.  I really wished I could have visited a fitness center while I was there. Overall, this is a unique and fabulous place to stay.

Yelp
I really love boutique hotels, which is why I chose this one. There's lots of great stuff about this place. From the outside it looks fancy and inviting. When you step inside it's like a party. They had open mic night when I checked in, which was on a Thursday. It was pretty packed and the people were having a blast. Whoever was on the mic was really good, too. And then they're pet friendly so there were lots of people hanging out at the bar with their dogs. Well-behaved dogs! The staff was very friendly and seemed to enjoy their jobs. There's a bowling alley right in back and there's a diner at the bowling alley. The rooms are also really cute. Basic and functional. I got a queen single. It was perfect for just me. My only complaints about the room were that because there is no carpet, I could hear all the noise from the people above me. Also, there were a few loose hairs on the bed, probably from the housekeeping staff. No biggie since sometimes you can't control that. But it was still jarring a little bit. And finally, the bathroom was ADA Compliant. That in itself is not a problem... In fact it's a good thing. However, I did not request an ADA Compliant bathroom so was a little confused about why I was placed in that room. Unless all the rooms are ADA Compliant... I don't know. But then that would be okay. It's also really cool that all the rooms are different. Some have bunk beds, some have king beds, Etc. Oh but there's no coffee maker in the room. Boo hoo hoo.

Yelp
My company booked the hotel for 3 nights for a company meeting. There are many things that made the hotel not ideal for a company meeting. The main reason for the 1-star is that I was using my Bose Headphones in the case to block an obnoxious light/flash coming from the phone at night. I didn't realize I left them until hours later when I was boarding my flight. Of course when I called the hotel they were no where to be found. I even had my business card in the pocket. Thieves. I'll never be back. Disappointing.

Yelp
I have mixed feelings on this hotel. We came for a work conference, and there were some highlights and some lowlights. The good: the lobby, bar, lounge, and conference space were all great. So was the food for breakfast lunches and the catered happy hour. The location is great and it's easy to walk to pretty much anywhere you would want to go in this small town. I came in on the train and got around just fine without a car which saved on having it park a rental at the hotel. The not so good: while the common spaces are all welcoming and comfortable, the rooms themselves are very bland and minimal. They have a hostel/dorm room feel. I wanted to spend the least amount of time as possible in mine and it kinda felt like I was sleeping in the ikea showroom. There was also a dripping sound I couldn't for the life of me find, but thankfully I had brought my own ear plugs or I wouldn't have been able to sleep. I enjoyed my time here but I think they need some work when it comes to marrying the look and feel of the common areas and the rooms themselves.

Yelp
Love the hotel--- But beware if you give them a debit card! Multiple charges as "pending" Got charged twice for my hotel stay. Took days to sort out! Not a smooth operation. Sours me on the whole experience.
