A delightful Valentine’s Day date. Owner was very helpful in obtaining a reservation at late notice. The Wallaby fillet was amazing. Cooked perfectly and accompanied with the right sauces. The sides were also fantastic. Would certainly eat here next time I’m in Tasmania.

Not bad of a restaurant, good service but because I got my foot stepped on I can’t give it 5. But I was left disappointed with the steak as I was hoping it to be good based on my friends recommendation. I felt the steak focus more on the sauce than the seasoning the steak, and I was left disappointed for the piece I have to pay. Average fries at this sort of restaurant and the desert was mid. Overall, not bad but not impressed.

Early December 2024 we were holidaying in Tas with a night in Hobart and came across the Astor Grill. My wife had the prime eye fillet, served with cranberry & parmesan slaw, sherry vinaigrette and I ordered the dry rubbed organic pork loin on the bone, red cabbage marmalade, basil & cashew crumb, with duck fat roasted baby potatoes. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The servers were just the right level of attentive and were all pleasant and helpful. It was such a nice meal and dining experience I took a card on leaving to remind me to leave a review! Look forward to dining here again next time we visit Hobart.

We were travelling in Tasmania and decided to have dinner at The Astor Grill on our last night. It was hands down the best dinner we had here! The food and service was perfect! The staff who served us gave great recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed them. We will certainly return to try out more of their menu if we are back in Tasmania in future!

The food was phenomenal, the eye fillet was like butter and the truffle infused mash potatoes were out of this world. Our waiter Jeremy, gave exceptional service and was lovely to talk to. The classical vibe the restaurant provides creates a very warm and great atmosphere, the music was great.

A charming restaurant with great service (special shoutout to Jeremy!) and an amazing menu. Delicious steak and sides, fabulous cocktails, and a fantastic dessert. Only very minor gripe is that the restaurant definitely runs a bit too warm and could do with the air con being turned up, but that’s picking at straws. Overall an immaculate experience, at a reasonable price. Highly recommended and will definitely dine here again.

Old school vibe plus good natured and well informed service. Porterhouse New York cut was plenty for two (note, listed steak weights do not include bone, unlike UK or US). We ordered three veggie sides / small plates of which the mushrooms were delicious. Pumpkin and sweet potato came with a creamy sauce, some may like but I would have preferred undressed. Meal felt like a great value for the quality, compared with London and New York steak options.

Came here for a steak dinner with the wife and wasn't disappointed! From the moment we sat down the service was fantastic and it only got better from there. The porterhouse I ordered medium rare was brilliant, and my wife's scotch fillet was perfect. She's hard to please sometimes but I didn't hear a bad thing from her! The house made bbq sauce was awesome and i highly recommend the bread and garlic aioli. Brilliant!

Great service!! Never felt rushed, yet staff were attentive. Water glad was never empty. I ordered the the wallaby, which I've never tried. It was cooked perfectly! Also got the chocolate souflee with coffee ice cream, which were both yummy. After dessert, I was presented with a little piece of fudge as finale. Restaurant was pretty full, not packed, and no wait. It was connected to a hotel, yet felt much nicer than the average hotel restaurant. If I knew it was connected I would not have come. So glad I did!!!

Greeted promptly, politely & easily. Dining area is quaint, cozy & relaxed. Not loud by any means. Fine dining flair but relaxed enough to wear jeans. The menu had phenomenal choices. I started with the Prime Eye tartar, wonderful starter. The flavours blended beautifully and the portion was generous. Entree of Wallaby Fillets. Perfectly cooked at rare. I would not suggest a higher cook temp, it was tender and again the portion was perfectly sized. Had both courses with a local Tassie Pinot Noir my server chose for me. Only two servers on to work the whole dining area ( which I feel was sufficient for a 12 table restaurant ) both servers were proficient in their duties and on top of their tables. Desert was a Creama Cantalana which I paired with the Frogmore Creek Ice Riesling. Perfect way to end a day. I highly recommend this as a place to eat. Thank you.

Excellent! Service is so considerate. Food is so great that I'd recommend it to all my friends. The Vietnam waiter is cute and polite, after almost all the tables finished we talked to him and heard some interesting things.
