The Astor Grill

Tried Astor Grill on our last night in Hobart and what an amazing place. Love the dark decor, service is attentive, and food is great. Two of us shared the oven baked scallops - so delicious, and a trio of the Wagyu arancini. These were very filling. For mains we had the 300g porterhouse (a perfect medium rare but perhaps the exterior is over seared and a little too charred) accompanied by grilled vegetables and roasted potatoey. A nice evening to round off a Hobart visit.

Excellent place for a nice meal. The beef was tender and juicy. The arancini and sweet potato & pumpkin were also delicious as sides. The truffle mushroom was kinda of miss for us. Service was good too.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food quality is on another level and the service is excellent. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to have quality food and time!

Came for lunch, my friend ordered straight away the wagyu arancini they were to die for, the sauce it was on was a bit capsicum spicy tomato kind of flavor. And also the duck I said I’ll decide in a little bit. The waiter looked at us and said oh we have a minimum of 45 per head spend! I said no issues! I couldn’t decide, however I went with the lamb shoulder and ribs. Was so tender it was nice the sliced lamb was a little tougher though! I also had the side of greens they where cooked to perfection The desert was to die for. Will go back to try other things

This was a great meal expertly prepared. We started with the scallops which paired well with the Tasmanian House of Arras white sparkling wine. For entrees we had the duck which had a great sauce that complemented it without being over sweet. We took the suggestion of a Tasmanian Pinot noir which was also a great pairing. Although the duck meat was cooked perfectly the fat wasn’t fully rendered and hence “ not perfect”. The ambience was chill and the staff very helpful.

A great dining experience. Attentive but not intrusive staff. When we asked for a wine recommendation with a few prompts on our likes, our waiter said she would refer to someone more knowledgeable. What she bought back was perfect for what we had described. The steak was cooked perfectly and paired with the sides perfectly. Would highly recommend fir a fine dining experience.

From the very first call, The Astor Grill made us feel valued. Eladio assured us all meat was halal and took extra care to avoid any cross contamination. Wherever possible, he offered thoughtful adjustments to the menu so we could enjoy our meal without worry. On my birthday, while celebrating other personal achievements too, Eladio and his team made the night truly special with warmth, laughter, and respect. The food was exceptional, the service genuine, and the atmosphere perfect. It is rare to find a place that blends authenticity, culture, and fine dining so seamlessly. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Thank you, Eladio and the entire Astor Grill team, for making our celebration so memorable. You have set the bar very high, and we look forward to returning again and again.

Yesterday was an important day for us and we had many celebrations. For this reason, we were at Astor Grill. We had a wonderful evening. Eladio took care of us all night. Thanks to him, we felt very comfortable. The decor, ambiance, and music were just like in the novels. We will not be able to forget the taste of the dishes for a long time. In addition, all the meat was halal. Thank you for making our special day magnificent. We look forward to meeting again very soon.

Came here for a steak dinner with the wife and wasn't disappointed! From the moment we sat down the service was fantastic and it only got better from there. The porterhouse I ordered medium rare was brilliant, and my wife's scotch fillet was perfect. She's hard to please sometimes but I didn't hear a bad thing from her! The house made bbq sauce was awesome and i highly recommend the bread and garlic aioli. Brilliant!

Great service!! Never felt rushed, yet staff were attentive. Water glad was never empty. I ordered the the wallaby, which I've never tried. It was cooked perfectly! Also got the chocolate souflee with coffee ice cream, which were both yummy. After dessert, I was presented with a little piece of fudge as finale. Restaurant was pretty full, not packed, and no wait. It was connected to a hotel, yet felt much nicer than the average hotel restaurant. If I knew it was connected I would not have come. So glad I did!!!

Greeted promptly, politely & easily. Dining area is quaint, cozy & relaxed. Not loud by any means. Fine dining flair but relaxed enough to wear jeans. The menu had phenomenal choices. I started with the Prime Eye tartar, wonderful starter. The flavours blended beautifully and the portion was generous. Entree of Wallaby Fillets. Perfectly cooked at rare. I would not suggest a higher cook temp, it was tender and again the portion was perfectly sized. Had both courses with a local Tassie Pinot Noir my server chose for me. Only two servers on to work the whole dining area ( which I feel was sufficient for a 12 table restaurant ) both servers were proficient in their duties and on top of their tables. Desert was a Creama Cantalana which I paired with the Frogmore Creek Ice Riesling. Perfect way to end a day. I highly recommend this as a place to eat. Thank you.

Absolutely fantastic! Went there for dinner for my birthday and the dishes were local fare with an exquisite splash of panache.

Excellent! Service is so considerate. Food is so great that I'd recommend it to all my friends. The Vietnam waiter is cute and polite, after almost all the tables finished we talked to him and heard some interesting things.
